A contemplative parable, the second in a series ["Waiting: Soul Transformation" is the first] An adult inspirational parable of a parched soul longing for water – the ‘Living Water’ 52 pages 190 x 180mm Full of beautiful colour images of nature intermingled with poetry, creative prose, and spiritual truth A great devotional gift! A REAL NZ book
I love the tranquility of the images chosen, and find that just doing a page-through is calming and refreshing. The words on each page are encouraging, easy to read, and not overwhelming. Well done on another beautiful book!
Barbara is a wordsmith. The simplicity and pacing of words and image drew my heart to a much needed place of stillness, contemplation and rejuvenation. She is able to translate the deep longings of the soul we often ignore into a way we can receive, making us realize there is a wonderful Father who delights in being near and who leads us to a place of rest. A great book for anyone who feels overwhelmed by the demands of life.
I like how Barbara describes that she is “painting pictures with words & giving images a voice” The word and the images go so well together. You almost hear the splashing of water and smell the freshness of the greenery to contrast the sense of arid dryness of the desert/wilderness scenes. Something to keep going back to.

I know that Barbara's parable books are truly a work of faith and love, covered by her many prayers and those of others - that God will use her books to touch our lives. So I sat aside and took my time on each page, letting the words and images 'soak into me', and in faith, was 'looking for' His touch. When in pages 26-27, as I read the words, 'The Balm of Gilead, where warm healing oil is poured upon the many wounds'; I felt the Holy Spirit near, and some buried grief came up from emotional trauma I had experienced. Then came a very sweet peace. I realised later on, that a physical problem that I had had was gone! Thank you Jesus, and thank you Barbara for this labour of love. I keep her 2 books handy, just even to look through the wording and restful images at times also. I have some to give as gifts too.
