When Sky finds a critically injured Xyran warrior, she can’t just let him die. She drags the unconscious alien home and dresses his wounds. He’s difficult and arrogant, but she’s more than enough woman to deal with him until he’s gone. So what if he intrigues her? The last thing she can afford to do is fall for an alien.

Jaxt knows the betrayers who left him for dead on Earth will not live his bond-kin, Zoen, will paint the warship’s walls with their blood. All he must do now is wait for Zoen to come. Unfortunately, the human woman who found him rouses his deepest instincts… Instincts he’d forgotten he had.

When Zoen finds Jaxt on Earth, he’s not sure he approves of the female who cared for his kin. However, when Sky kills a Xyran about to attack, he understands Jaxt’s insistence that she is their mate. Any female who shows such courage is worthy of his blood, and maybe even his heart.

Xyrans Jaxt and Zoen and human Sky

Xyrans are the worst enemies of Alphan warriors. If you have read the first book in the series, you will understand what I mean. Also Xyrans do not respect humans at all. They do not look tor human girls for mates and brides. They only treat them as slaves. So when Sky discovers a dying Xyran, it is not logical the fact that she tries to save him.
She will succeed but his arrogance and his sense of superiority will make her mad continually. After hatred, there will be passion. But after these two become lovers, things will become more complicated when another Xyran arrives and demands his bondmate back.

I quit this mess.... you bring a knife to love-making and I am gone...same for choking...that is not love...that is something else entirely...if I could I would give it a negative 10. Which is a shame... I almost liked the heroine for her spunkiness...sad that the author did not like her enough to give her a great story.

It was truly delightful to read another book by Erin M. Leaf. She melds imaginative, futuristic apocalyptic settings with potentially super sexy and solid m/m/f pairings. In this book, the woman linking the two guys was simply extraordinary. She has strength, exceptional survivalist skills, and will take on a recovery task that involves a flat-out enemy, because it is the right thing to do. One of the two men has a particularly fascinating back story. The other fellow's history doesn't flag in comparison either. This is a very fine and balanced tale from the future that seems eminently plausible and exciting. I recommend it!

Sky Martha Strider is called Sky throughout most of the story. She seems highly skilled and experienced to survive alone in an extremely inhospitable environment but within a well hidden cave. That cave comes with a few damned special niceties that appear to be rather lacking on Earth at this current time. Her unexpected sort of guest is initially one major pain in the ass and a boor to boot. Sky labels him an asshole and pretty much calls him that for quite awhile. Sky definitely stands heads and shoulders above most of the women on Earth, perhaps even compared to women on the other planets that get described. I genuinely loved Sky!

Jaxt and Zoen are Xyrans. Jaxt is Sky's somewhat unwelcome guest and patient. He really did start off as a class A-1 asshole. Nevertheless, a marvelous connection grows between them. He does stop calling her just 'woman' and when she tracks down a turkey for dinner, I think he might have decided she is a bit of a magician. When Zoen locates Jaxt, his blood-sworn kin, some magical doings between all three consenting adults starts to percolate. It was a bit unconventional for the guys to swear a blood kin oath, but when the details bubble to the surface it seems more than understandable. In fact the whole idea of a blood-sworn kin ceremony took on even greater meaning. These guys were certifiably spicy!

This trio blended, melded, and kind of worked miracles. They certainly earned their group stripes by all becoming bigger than life as they teamed up. Each member of the group brought some outstanding talents to forge and sustain the team's survival. There is this incredibly neat scientific tool, almost magical in its operation, that only our trio seems to have and control. There were many other neat little tidbits that coalesced to make this story one enjoyable read. Hot m/m/f pairings and challenging futuristic escapades delight my fancy making this type of book a certifiable winner!

The year is 2050. Earth is quickly becoming uninhabitable. The seven continents are shrinking as flooding devastates the land masses. Crime and disorder are rampant among the dwindling human population.

There are only two safe havens in the galaxy capable of supporting humanoid life. Xyran is a world of power-hungry demons and Planet Alpha is home to a fearless warrior race.

The males on Planet Alpha need mates. Infertility has plagued their race for decades. The answer lies on Earth where tempting females are waiting to be saved. When their enemies attempt to claim the spoils of a dying world, only the strongest will get their prize.

While the premise and overall story line were good, it lost me with it's short length and superficial world building. I needed more development with the individual characters and would have appreciated more fleshing out of the different scenes to really have any vested interest in Sky, Jaxt, or Zoen. I assume this is a standalone installment but because of lingering questions that weren't really addressed I have to wonder if I should have read the previous installment in his series Bondmate to understand. Example: didn't really get the significance of jewels in skin slant.

The adult content does have some heat to them but definitely didn't result in any yearning to grab my own Xyran alien warrior or two as a result. There is also an element of BDSM that I love to see in my alien warriors but this too wan't developed enough. Just sayin.

If price isn't an issue I do feel that this book will appeal to fans of science fiction erotic romance. For me, the price and word count/page length was a bit too steep for what I got.

I enjoyed this story but it didn't blow me away. I liked Sky and how strong and resilient she is. Earth has become a cesspool and she managed to escape her captor and eke out an existence in hiding.
When she finds and heals Jaxt she thinks he's an asshole but the attraction is undeniable. Throw Zoen into the mix and things really get interested.

- I liked the biting
- Don't know what the skin jewels mean
- Changing skin color is cool
- Wanted more M/M action

Earth is a dying planet; its inhabitants struggle daily just to survive. For women, there is the additional threat of abduction and enslavement by the fierce and unfeeling alien races, whose strength and technology the weaker humans are unable to match.

Sky fought long and hard to escape the refugee camp, and later the smuggler's community where she foolishly sought refuge, in order to live her life freely. Living in the desert may not be ideal, but the hard and lonely work of surviving day-to-day is a luxury few women enjoy. Her skills as a hunter and warrior are lessons that were learned the hard way, and she is determined never to be owned by anyone ever again.

No matter how hard she tries to appear tough on the outside, there is still a spark of softness and compassion hidden deep within her heart, much to Sky's own dismay. When she finds an unconscious and gravely injured Xyran warrior alone in the desert, Sky is unable to turn away and leave him to his fate.

Jaxt is bossy, opinionated, and foreign in almost every way. His changeable skin tone and unusual physical adornments aside, Sky can't help but be attracted to his outward appearance. Too bad his external beauty isn't matched by a kind heart. Nevertheless, Sky is too practical to pass up the opportunity to enjoy a few moments of sexual gratification. Knowing Jaxt will return to his homeland once he has fully healed gives the entire situation a low-risk, high-benefit ratio. When Jaxt announces that she is his blood-mate, the third person meant to complete the triad originally formed with his bond-kin Zoen long ago, Sky refuses to subject herself to anyone's authority, no matter how strongly both men call to her heart.

BROKEN is a stand alone story, second in the Planet Alpha series, and is a well written and fast paced science fiction novella. The blend of alpha males, treacherous humans, conniving aliens and steamy sensuality perfectly complement Sky's firecracker personality. A highly entertaining and suspenseful storyline, with characters you will both love and love-to-hate, I give BROKEN 5 stars for sizzling sexual chemistry and pure reading enjoyment!

I got this book because I thought it would be a pretty good book. What I didn't realize is this book is the second one in the series. I know I will be going back to read the first one so that I don't feel like I have missed some important points.

The year is 2050 and is based on futuristic events. The author did such a great job explaining what is going on and her description of things helps you to look at this world and imagining it really happening. There seems to be two alien races the Xyran and the Planet Alpha. They need human women from earth to repopulate.

Sky Strider finds a critically injured Xyran warrior. She does what anyone should do and she drags him home and cleans his wounds. She didn't think about how bad a patient he would be. He's a big butt hole and very demanding.

Jaxt knows who betrayed him and left him on Earth to die. He will get them back when his bond-kin, Zoen arrives. Soon their ship will have their blood all over the walls. Jaxt has feelings for Sky and he knows that she is the third mate in their relationship. Zoen isn't too sure about it until he see's her kill some warriors.

These three have a bond that is stronger than anyone else's. They all complete each other and are stronger together. Yes this book has a little BDSM in it and a M/F/M relationship. I seem to be reading more and more books that have menages in them. I have read several books by this author and I love how she can get you lost and really involved in her stories. The characters are evenly matched. You can feel the sexual tension just coming from all three.

Wow, I am pleasantly surprised on how much I liked this book. I love the snarky attitude, the condescending air of righteousness and the sly kindness of a killer. The internal dialogue was some of the best moments for sure. Amazingly this story caused spontaneous bouts of giggling with hot lust. Oh, what a world we live in when 'asshole' becomes an affectionate declaration of love and endearment.

Short-ish dystopian sci-fi fun. There is minimal angst. There is also blood and gore. I liked it. It features a bonded-blood-mates thing, which is what I was in the mood for. Mindless sex scenes with some suspense thrown in.

Need More

A good read. Take it with a grain of salt, but I need more from this book. I'm not sure if I am in a reading rut or what, but I wanted a bit more of an explanation of the metal studs in their chests - more deets if you will...

All in all it's a good book, but I am an info junkie..

3 stars not because of the knife play, that was mild than what i've read previously, but she started out really strong but then i don't know, she just went out like a wet cardboard but then it's understandable since the other guy was more dominant, i mean he plays with knife. Still, not complaining on the sex and romance part🤷🏽‍♀️

I absolutely adored the heroine in this one. She was such a kick-ass heroine yet with a vulnerable side. Plenty of humour in this story too, and of course heat.

A great read :-)

I added the .5 star because the heroine is awesome. I like heroines that kill rather than depend on their mates.
