Nora Flynn and the Sword of Light is a middle-grade fantasy novel steeped in Celtic mythology, where a 14-year-old orphan, Nora Flynn, discovers she is the last descendant of a royal bloodline of magical leprechauns sworn to protect Ireland. When the dark Emperor Arawn returns from the underworld, threatening to unleash chaos, Nora must embrace her newfound powers and wield the legendary Sword of Light. Alongside her fierce competitor-turned-ally Darcy and her budding love interest Patrick, Nora embarks on a heart-pounding quest to save Ireland, confront ancient evils, and uncover her true destiny. Perfect for fans of Harry Potter and The Serpent's Secret, this enchanting adventure blends magic, friendship, and self-discovery, while offering a fresh take on mythic fantasy
Great book, filled with adventure, rivalry turned to friendship. Great for beginners also wanting to get into the fantasy world. Real easy and good read!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is the book I was telling you guys that hubby & I were reading together, and I’m happy to report that we absolutely loved it! The story kept us on our toes throughout the entirety of the book! We loved the found family aspect of the story, and especially the Celtic lore! I personally enjoyed the rivals to allies aspect and really came to love Nora’s rival Darcy. Nora goes through a training academy to learn everything she needs to know on her journey to save Ireland and the leprechaun people, where she meets her trainer Patrick 👀 (who we also loved, btw) let’s just say there’s one big reason that added to Nora & Darcy’s rivalry at first. We really enjoyed the character development of all 3 characters! We really enjoyed Nora’s transformation! Her arc in particular was very inspiring to me, personally, because she kept going toward her destiny despite any obstacles she may have faced. Some could even say her biggest obstacle being herself! The world building is really great and the magic system is interesting without being too hard to understand. The plot is on point! There’s a big plot twist towards the end that we totally DID NOT see coming! My jaw was on the floor and I was quite mad! 😂 And the way the author described everything really allowed us to fully visualize the events that were happening as if it were a movie playing out in our minds! It really felt as if he transported us right into Ireland from the very beginning! We 100% would recommend this to anyone whole loves YA Fantasy/ Fantasy books! Nora Flynn and The Sword Of Light is available to read on Kindle Unlimited, and available for purchase in ebook, paperback, and hardback form on the zon!!
This book is a fast-paced and visually rich fantasy “novella” that reads like a movie, offering a vivid experience from start to finish. Set against the hauntingly beautiful backdrop of Ireland, this story is perfect for young readers aged 12 to 18 who are just dipping their toes into the world of fantasy.
The novella follows Nora, a young girl who unexpectedly finds herself at the center of an ancient battle between light and darkness. Her journey to discover her inner strength and harness mysterious powers leads to a climactic confrontation with Emperor Arawn. The Irish setting adds a layer of authenticity and intrigue, with just enough mystery that kept me turning the pages.
Because of its short length, just under 250 pages, this book doesn’t delve too deeply into character development or the full arc of Nora’s transformation. Her powers emerge quickly, with little explanation or buildup, which may leave some readers wanting more depth. However, this shortened story approach makes it easily digestible, especially for younger readers or those new to fantasy.
What Nora Flynn and the Sword of Light may lack in complexity, it more than makes up for in momentum and pacing. Each chapter flows seamlessly into the next, almost like scenes in a film, making it an enjoyable and immersive read.
Overall, this is a great entry point for teens looking to explore fantasy without getting overwhelmed. It's a magical, mysterious adventure that hits the right notes.
This book drew me in by the time the first chapter was finished. Nora Flynn shows us a world that is captivating and similar to Hogwarts. Just like a female Harry Potter!
I absolutely loved this book! Filled with a great adventure, a new training academy, rivals to allies, found family and the perfect amount of yearning. I’m calling it now, this will be the next big book series on Booktok!

Wow! I loved Nora Flynn. If you love Percy Jackson and Harry Potter you will love Nora Flynn. I really loved the characters, especially Nora and Darcy!
Dr Matthew Dovie is my sister in laws Dr. After realizing he had written this book I was curious. I enjoyed reading this book, wanted it to continue on to the next adventure.
It was cute but also just felt like every chapter was just a quick summary of some bigger story. I do think it’s a perfect read for young kids though that are getting into chapter books.
