Mark Russell is the author of the highly acclaimed thriller 'The Politics of Pleasure.'
However, that's the only positive thing I can say about the book. if you want your hero and heroine of the story to be totally screwed up, emotionally detached, murderous maniacs, that are drunk or wasted on some form of high, and think that vengeance is the only game that counts - well this is the book for you! I read a lot of books, and there wasn't anything likeable about any of these characters. They killed for money, for power, and just because they could. The reader realizes quickly that the scene where "Dicey" is bested by her brother's nemesis, is only there because no imagination is used by the writer to find a way for her to get to him to take care of the task at hand. Her behavior in this incident was totally inconsistent with her character thru the rest of the book. Her brother is just plain selfish, narcissistic, and immature. She is soulless. I understand being broken by a bad childhood, but come on people, get over it. Quit making it an excuse for all current behavior. If bad language bothers you, move on again, you won't like this.
