Saniyah made the mistake of opening the door to a world she didn't understand. Now she needs help before time runs out. Will her friends be able to save her in time or will her problem become their problem, taking them all down with her in the process? Find out in this short story... Let me in
When I said Mr Dixon is everywhere!! I had no idea he’d be mentioned in this story. He is definitely still not one to be messed with in any space that he’s in. Saniyah and her friends were in for a rude awakening, when a haunting force took its vengeance. All they had to do is stay in their lane. Great quick read!
Linette King does it for me. Every 👏🏾 SINGLE 👏🏾 TIMMMMEEEEE 👏🏾 OMG!!! Had me in here scared! 😂 Now I’m hoping I don’t have any nightmares or hear any knocks on my door. Even if I do, I know the number one rule is NOT to answer it because you don’t know if it’s really who it SOUNDS like OR… that thing…..
This is a very unfortunate story of four friends. One kept a secret, told another friend and convinced the other two to join in on a “game”. And it did NOT end well…
60 pages of being on the edge of your seat!
There’s a book called Mr Dixon by king. She says you don’t HAVE to read this prior to his book. But, it does mention him and his home briefly in this story.
My first Linette King book and I have to say very chilling but absolutely intriguing!! This short story will have you in a chokehold! A pandora box theme with 4 friends, strange contact lenses that will have see not only the spiritual world but some monsters too!
Let Me In has a genuinely creepy premise, but I had a hard time sympathizing with half of the main characters because they just kept making bafflingly stupid choices—Saniyah and Nikita especially.
First of all, Saniyah is bored enough to break into some creepy old man’s basement on a whim and decides, for reasons I still cannot fully process, to put in a pair of random contacts she finds inside a sketchy game. She has no idea where they came from, who wore them last, or why they even exist…yet in they go without hesitation.
Unhygienic choices aside, once she realizes she can’t get the contacts out because they’ve apparently dissolved into her eyeballs, you’d think she might panic. Naturally, she does not. She basically shrugs it off and continues about her day like this is a mild inconvenience instead of a full-blown horror scenario.
Then, once the terrifying visions and voices kick in and she finally realizes she’s in trouble, her solution is…to drag her friends into it. Instead of, I don’t know, asking for help like a normal person, she conspires with her friend Nikita to trick their other two friends into putting the contacts in so they’ll feel “motivated” to help her. Which is…a choice. A deeply questionable one.
And Nikita? She somehow manages to top that. Even after hearing exactly what happens when you wear the contacts, instead of just pretending for the sake of the plan, she actually puts them in her own eyes too. Voluntarily. I genuinely had to pause and ask if we were making decisions or just committing to chaos at that point.
The only characters I truly felt sorry for were Tiffany, for being completely blindsided, and Jessica, for getting dragged into this mess by people who clearly do not value basic survival instincts. At least Jessica reacts like a rational human being when everything comes to light.
The ending felt a bit anticlimactic for me, without quite enough buildup or sustained suspense, but there were a few emotionally intense moments and flashes of gore that kept it firmly rooted in horror.
That said, Tiffany eventually lost me too. Watching her freeze and allow one of the girls to open the door, fully aware it could mean death, was frustrating to say the least. Personally, I would’ve taken my chances knocking my best friend out mid-stride and tying her to a chair if it meant saving her life. But fear does strange things to people…apparently including disabling all common sense.
Overall, the characters were so frustrating that it became difficult to care about what happened to them. With decision-making like that, it’s honestly no surprise that only one of them made it out unscathed.

This was my first SPOOKED out book of the month. Short and sweet and SCARY. The ending was on point and it was a lesson to be taught. Moral of the story: sometimes it be your OWN FRIENDS. Great READ I HIGHLY RECOMMEND so you can be spooked out😂 #Books #Horror #Friends #Reading #Recommendation 👻📚😱
Seeee this is why you don’t go messing with other people iissshhhh!! Had Saniyah not went to Mr. Dixon house, Nikita wouldn’t have followed & had Tiffany had a back bone like Jessica she wouldn’t be on her predicament either! Honestly people think Mr. Dixon is a killer but you screw yourself sometimes 🤷🏾♀️
Wow!!! This was excellent. This could have literally been a movie. Loved it!!🔥🔥🔥 This author has me interested in a whole new genre of books now. Never thought I would enjoy thriller/suspense/horror this much.
This was a good short read. I was first introduced to Linette King via her book Mr.Dixon. It was exciting to see him mentioned in this book as well. I love how Earl Dixon is spinning off into multiple books that grab your attention from beginning to the end.
In true Linette King fashion , this was creepy, addicting and fast paced. I always love any book that also incorporates Mr Dixon, because he’s unhinged asf , and an unforgettable character.
This story was no different. The number one/ hardest rule to follow .. don’t open the door & let them in 😈🙈
This book was absolutely insane. That ending left me speechless can we talk about the surprise guest that is in the book yeah as soon as they said that person‘s name I would’ve left the country.
