The first in an ongoing series by award-winning lesbian fiction writer Georgia Beers, "Balance" introduces you to Norah Ellison, who has a gift...or is it a curse? She knows nothing about the women whose names appear to her in the morning, only that she must help them, and that time is of the essence. She's spent more than a decade building a tiny team of trusted assistants, but even they can't guarantee she can figure out what needs to be done--or ensure that she'll get it done in time. (This story was originally printed in the collection "Outsiders," released by Brisk Press.
Lambda and Golden Crown Literary Award-winning author Georgia Beers lives in Rochester, New York. She has been writing for as long as she can remember, and published her first lesbian novel in 2000.
Entertaining female avenger short story. Beers weaves an interesting and off the cuff story with ease. A bit pricey but something unique and different in lesbian lit makes it good value.
It's a pretty fast read. It had a YA vibe, probably because of the pace and despite the theme of abused women, stalkers. With a non conventionnal behind the scene hero who goes out of her way to help people she don't know, you are taken really fast.
Beware, there is no romance though the main character is in a relationship and their interaction are nice
“Balance” introduces Norah Ellison, a very wealthy woman on a mission from … well, she doesn't know. Every now and then a note with a name and partial address appears in her home - it's up to her to fix whatever the problem is. Her latest target is Rebecca Cassidy - she's been stalked for years by Todd Bennett and it is escalating fast. One way or another Todd is going to rue the day Norah identified him. It's very short and doesn't have a lot to offer. 2 Stars.
I loved this first and second episodes of Balance by Georgia Beers. Hayley and Norah are great characters. It's always nice to read about people who work behind the scenes to right injustice. Can't wait to read more.
