Experiments in Love

Rate this book
Anson isn’t going to apologize for eavesdropping when the conversation is so fascinating and the questioner sounds so cute. He is, however, going to thoroughly enjoy discussing the intriguing topic and offer up his help. After all, scientific curiosity should be encouraged, especially when the inquisitive cutie has such an interesting hypothesis.

Kennedy knows he’s right…size does matter…but proving it seems like an impossible task until a helpful stranger in a naughty bar offers to set up an experiment…and to take Kennedy out on a date. Kennedy’s appropriately skeptical, of course. Most people find him annoying, but most people aren’t Anson, a sweetheart with more numbers in his life than friends.

When two unique men decide to tackle an age-old question, they’ll satisfy more than just their curiosity along the way.

Author’s Yes, you know what this is going to be about, but neither man considers it cheating since they’re working through their experiment together. It’s for science, of course. But if you want more details about the exact nature of their research, check out the inside of the book or the author’s website for more information.

DNF @ 8%
Couldn’t finish the sample

At 2%:

”There can’t even be any good nerve endings that far up or we’d all get erections when we poop. There’s no way nature would design plumbing like that.”

This is about a guy who I’m pretty sure is on the autism spectrum but the author made him act inappropriate, immature and according to his best friend, annoying. It felt coded and really offensive tbh and it’s a huge reason why I’m DNFing this. Anyway he’s at a kink club wanting to run an experiment on penis sizes. He doesn’t think anyone needs more than 4 inches for anal due to where the prostate is. Another guy overhears this bizarre convo and thinks it’s adorable. They start talking and have the most clinical, boring, kink negotiation ever. It felt like I was reading a how to manual but then he’d start saying shit like this…

”Are you the type of Dom who likes control and doesn’t mind sharing? I think we’d have enough to talk about to date outside of the scene. What are your thoughts on vanilla dating that leads toward a penis experiment?”

& this…

“No, I don’t care what his name is unless it’s something I’ll never be able to pronounce. His views on scenes and what restaurants he likes are higher on the list. What if he’s vegan? That fake cheese makes me gassy.”

& this…

“You wouldn’t mind dating someone who wanted to experience other penises?”

Keep in mind these two met like 5 minutes prior and never even asked for the other’s name and yet they start having this stilted conversation about vegans and littles who eat dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets even though neither of them are littles. The one guy talked about his gas nonstop then couldn’t wait to be the other’s sex toy. The cringe factor was high.

However, this is good advice 🤣

”Assholes don’t get to see your asshole.”🤭

This was super cute and fun to read. Kennedy was adorable, and I loved the dynamics of their relationship. That being said, sometimes the dialogue was really confusing, and the formatting/paragraph and punctuation errors added to the book sometimes being hard to follow and make sense of.

Anson & Kennedy meet in a BDSM club, and the story kicks off when Anson overhears Kennedy saying chatting with his friend:
"I really don't get it." Something about the confused voice coming from behind me had me tuning into the slightly too loud conversation. "Why does any top need more than about four inches? My prostate isn't all the way up in my intestines."

And, I was hooked from the first paragraph! It made me laugh so much and set the tone for a fun and heartwarming story.

Kennedy is absolutely adorable - awkward and sweet, and while the book doesn't explicitly say so, I read him as neurodivergent. He's had some rough relationships in the past, which shows through his anxieties, but Anson is the perfect match for him. Anson doesn't just accept Kennedy; he adores everything about him. No matter how much Kennedy worries that people will tire of him, Anson never does.

This book was such a joyful read from start to finish. I couldn't stop smiling and laughing my way through it - it's one of those stories that just makes your day better. I'm still giggling and kicking my feet over this one and know I will be for a while to come.

What to expect:
Dual, first person POV
BDSM
Bi rep
Consensual sharing
D/s
Exhibitionism
Fast burn
Humour
Low angst
Phone seggs
Seggs experiments
Strangers to lovers
Whining and whimpering

I really enjoyed this. The simple, sometimes child-like language used by both Anson and Kennedy sometimes definitely made the dynamic between them feel like it was more on the level of a Daddy/little than anything else, but it wasn’t off-putting.

Kennedy hurt my soul a lot, honestly, with how quick he was to assume and accept that most people didn’t like him or want to hear him speak. I wish that more had come of Francis’ attitude in this book because it wasn’t entirely believable to have Anson Sex scenes are always fun, but I feel one or two could have been cut or slimmed down to add to the Francis storyline, and I’d have thrown all five stars at it.

I expected the characters to be irritating, not endearing, but I adored Kennedy, and Anson was written as such a kind character with no judgment in his thoughts. (Jasper took a piece of my heart, too!)

The roleplaying scenes were ridiculous, in my idiot opinion, straight out of bad porn, but they fit and flowed very well in this because of how open and transparent Kennedy is, I feel—a little secondhand embarrassment for me, but perfect for the characters.

I probably won’t visit this again, but it was a sweet and fun experience, sprinkled with a bit of hurt on my heart for Kennedy, and I’ll remember it fondly as a filthy book with soft feels.

story of Anson and Kennedy

This is a dom / sub romance, featuring Anson and Kennedy, and is a standalone book.

Anson and Kennedy meet when Anson overhears Kennedy and his friend discussing a potential experiment about if size matters.

Their meet cute was absolutely hilarious. Kennedy has no filter whatsoever and finds it difficult to maintain relationships, but as the old saying goes ‘there is a lid for every pot’, Anson was attracted to everything about him - instant connection.

I laughed out loud all the way through this book, Kennedy and his no filter, the discussions they would have about limits, their role playing, going to the club and meeting others, even the spicy times had me laughing and smiling.

This book is low angst read but jam packed with so much kink play/role playing and spice as well as these two men connecting and falling for their person.

I seriously loved this book and I adored Kennedy and Anson together, would highly recommend this book to anyone. Now I need to know if Mr Joseph gets a book.

Things to expect in this book are:
Standalone book
MM romance
Hilarious meet-cute
Touch starved
Calls him good boy
Neurodivergent rep
Dom/Sub
Dates
Lots of spicy times
Lots of dirty talk
Phone s*x & s*x toys
BDSM & Role play
Exhibitionism / Voyeurism
Consensual sharing
Experiment for science
BDSM Club

This was a sweet story around one man's obsession around size and length and the need for a scientific experiment to settle the question. Dom Anson is prepared to help as he gets to know Kennedy. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BSDM-like D/s dynamic.

My goodness. I had had to let my review percolate mentally before I could write it. This was that good. One of the kinks in here is a tough one for me to get into because it’s so rarely done in a way that shows how truly the two main characters are connected at the same time. Here it was done beautifully. So well done in fact that it’s a third character that stole my heart. Don’t get me wrong, Anson and Kennedy are wonderful but I’m team Jasper. Though I do have to admit to being concerned about Francis as well. I literally could write an essay on how much I enjoyed so many things about this book. This is why I will read and re-read this author forever.

This new book by Shaw Montgomery is nothing raging new, you can guess the author if you have read a couple more of her books, but is sooo good..., it's less sweet than some of their other work, with less inner dialogue by the MCs, but the way this love story is told is engaging, with zero angst, interesting secondary characters, great cameos...
Even being clearly a book written by her, it is different, Anson and Kennedy have lots in common with other characters, but their kinks are their own, their personalities unique. They move at their own rhythm. We feel when their connection deepens and how good they are together.
I really enjoyed it.

Kennedy is so curious about the perfect size , while talking to he's best friend Francis about experimenting Anson overheard and started to join in the conversation.
Anson said he was willing to help Kennedy with his experiment, there started the fun relationship.
Fun read throughout, Kennedy constantly chatting about everything and Anson loving his curious mind.
Looking forward to reading Jasper and Francis's story

Anson overhears Kennedy oversharing with a friend about the perfect body part size. He soon shows Kennedy he's on board for an experiment and being his Dom. Kennedy is a real chatterbox but game for all Anson can teach him. Anson finds him adorably distractible and loves his fascinating mind, not to mention his body. There is exhibitionism and controlled sharing with lots of steamy scenes.

When Anson overhears Kennedys conversation, he knows he has to help him find out the results of his thoughts.
With some help and a bit of a set up, Anson becomes just the person Kennedy needs to explore his needs and desires.

A fantastic story about controlled sharing, exhibitionism done well and supporting characters what will capture your interest.
I loved seeing previous characters in this story as well.
I’m looking forward to seeing some of these characters get their own story at some point.

a really sweet getting to know you story

Shaw Montgomery has the ability to weave a story which just captures you up in the life of the characters.
Kennedy and Anson are so cute together, as they navigate getting to know one another, but it is the side cast of Francis and Jasper, and of course Connor who we have met previously who really make this story.

Anson and Kennedy are made for each other, both in and outside the world of kink. I appreciate the humor, the understanding, and the sexy times between these men. I also love that club owner Conner shows up to help set up the much anticipated sexual experiment. Kennedy isn't one of the author's shy submissives, and his curiosity here is fabulous. This book is fun and sexy.

Highly entertaining and very sexy. We get to spend some time with an old friend while we make a few new ones as Anson and Kennedy plan their experiment with some help from my favourite exhibitionist club owner. Is Kennedy's hypothesis correct? There's only one way to find out.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed Kennedy and Anson’s book. Kennedy is a hoot and Anson is just the right balance between Dom and goofball to keep Kennedy happy and satisfied. I hope Jasper gets his own book soon as he definitely deserves a HEA

75 procent. Er zaten leuke en schattige stukjes in, maar het voelde zo langdradig en uiteindelijk saai. Ze zijn wel leuk samen. Vond het idee dat ze openstonden om te delen wel wat minde
