I can't help be amazed at the gifts God has delighted me with - a wonderful husband, four amazing children, and the opportunity to write for Him.

I've been writing as long as I can remember - I won my first book writing contest in first grade! Over the years, writing has become, for me, a way to praise God and see Him at work in my life.

Although I have a degree in Mass Communications from the University of MN, my real writing experience started when I penned the The Warren Report - a bi-monthly newsletter that detailed our ministry highlights.

Living in Russia meant I never lacked for great material - and those experiences naturally spilled out first into devotionals and magazine articles and finally into my first published story, "Measure of a Man," in the Tyndale/HeartQuest, Chance Encounters of the Heart anthology.

Susan and husbandI grew up in Wayzata, a suburb of Minneapolis, and became an avid camper from an early age. My favorite fir-lined spot is the north shore of Minnesota - it's where I met my husband, honeymooned and dreamed of living. The north woods easily became the foundation for my first series, The Deep Haven series.based on a little tourist town along the shores of Lake Superior. I have to admit - I'm terribly jealous of Mona, the heroine of my first full-length book, Happily Ever After, a Christy Award Finalist published in 2004 with Tyndale/Heartquest.

Our family moved home from the mission field in June 2004 -- and now we live in the beautiful town I'd always dreamed of! God has amazed me anew with His provision, and blessings -- and allowed me a season when I can write full time for Him.

I 'm delighted you've stopped in to visit. My hope is that you'll be blessed and encouraged by soul-stirring stories of regular people interacting with a God who loves them.

I'd love to hear from you! I love getting mail, especially from readers and I welcome your questions and comments. Write to me at susan@susanmaywarren.com. And, if you're interested, sign up for my newsletter, a quarterly sneak peek into upcoming releases and projects. Thank you for your interest and support.

God Bless and Happy Reading!

In His Grip,

Susan May Warren is a powerhouse storyteller. I’d read anything she writes!

Conrad is book two of her Minnesota Kingstons series and features Conrad Kingston, a center for the Minnesota Blue Ox hockey team, and a billionaire heiress and mystery podcaster, Penelope Pepper.

Conrad is prone to anxiety attacks, making him an unlikely choice to protect Penelope, but with her getting so close to uncovering her sister’s fiance’s killer, Penelope’s a target and Conrad can’t help but step up to the plate…even when he knows it will cost him. When they agree to fake dating to help each other out, it becomes difficult to see where the lines between fake and real are drawn.

The plot was pacey and unpredictable and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat.

I loved reminders about leaving things in God’s hands, how peace is paramount, and how His grace is bigger than my mistakes. I think the biggest takeaways for me are that I shouldn’t let panic dictate my actions or the quality of my life. I saw lots of myself in Conrad.

“It’s hard to see in the midst of the darkness, but when we need Him most, God doesn’t abandon us. But we often don’t look for Him. We keep our eyes on the darkness. God is the light that shines in the darkness, and not even evil can overcome it.”

I purchased this 5-star read through the Sunrise Publishing website.

Conrad is such a teddy bear! He struggles with living in the past and panic attacks that are related but he was really very likable. Penelope is a trust fund kid trying to make it on her own with her murder podcast. The fake dating situation they get themselves into was a sad case of miscommunication but thankfully, the moment they both realize the mistake, they clear it up.
I have to say that what made this book difficult for me was just how complex and convoluted the finance and murder plots were. There were WAY too many side characters involved in that and it was way too complicated for a romance book, even romantic suspense. I just plain could not make heads or tales of it, not being in finance myself. So it took a significant amount of the punch out of the book when I didnt know what was going on.
There was a familiar message about God loving us and being there for us, but I'm not sure that Penelope ever had a relationship with the Lord and I'm not sure how her life with Conrad is going to look for the long haul.
I enjoyed picking this book up each time, but it's not a standout in the SMW universe for me.
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an early copy for review! All opinions are my own and freely given.

Oh, this one is a good one! I couldn’t put it down! Fun to be back in a story with Susan’s hockey characters, and Conrad is a great character. Penelope’s investigative nature just keeps digging her deeper into trouble and the action is fast paced. If you enjoy mystery, action, and romance while watching characters grow in their faith, then this is a book for you! Great new friends, great life lessons, and fun reading. There’s plenty more action to come from the Kingstons, so stay buckled in for the rest of the series!

Conrad and Penelope are delightful, but I found the murder plot twists and turns a little hard to follow. Still a solid installment in this series. Thanks to the author for the advanced review copy!

"Forgiveness doesn't have to be earned. It just has to be accepted."

I am absolutely loving the Minnesota Kingstons. Conrad is an awesome hero - tough, strong, charming, down-to-earth but also with an Achilles' heel and a past he can't let go. I loved following him around the ice and also loved reconnecting with Wyatt and Jace from previous books. Penelope is an extraordinary heiress - extraordinary because she just wants to be ordinary and doesn't believe herself worthy of love. They both have some heavy tragic stuff in their past and it was incredible to see them push past and find their foundation in God. Their journey toward forgiveness, peace, and purpose was peppered with fantastic banter, nail-biting suspense and intrigue, gentle reminders of God's character, and sparkly romance. The premise of fake dating added a layer of angst to the plot. I truly enjoyed Conrad's interactions with his siblings and parents.
A subplot with Steinbeck and Emberly continues through this book and it just hit me that Emberly is likely a Black Swan. So we hopefully will see London and Shep from Alaska Air One Rescue series in the next books. The murder mystery that Penelope set out to solve in the last book does get solved in this book but the greater mystery now remains of who Declan Stone is and what is happening in the world of AI.

This is a fast-paced romantic suspense that is perfect in every way. Once you pick it up, you won't be able to put it down.

Conrad Kingston is a center for the Minnesota Blue Ox hockey team. Penelope Pepper is a billionaire heiress with a mystery podcast. They first met at his sister's wedding (Book 1). Conrad and Penelope both need some good publicity. So her manager and the team's publicist arrange pretend dates for them to grow their followers on social media, but they forget to tell Conrad it is fake.

Penelope is determined to find out who killed her sister’s fiancé, and as the danger increases, Conrad is not about to let her discover the truth on her own.

Conrad is the second book in The Minnesota Kingstons series by Susan May Warren. I liked Conrad and Penelope as they grew closer. The beginning of Steinbeck's story and an appearance by Colt Kingston have me looking forward to his book.

I received a free Kindle copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review.

Loved the second installment in the Minnesota Kingstons series. This story focuses on Conrad, a Blue Ox hockey player, and Penelope, a billionaire heiress and mystery podcaster. The storyline was engaging, the characters were relatable and likable as Conrad struggles with past mistakes and anxiety, and the action was fast-paced. Warren weaves faith elements such as God's grace being bigger than our mistakes and peace into this story. Looking forward to the next installment.

Conrad Kingston is a hockey player, so Warren had me all in reading the story. Her descriptions of the games were vivid and spot on. I liked both of the main characters, Conrad and Penelope “Penny” Pepper, but Conrad was my favorite of the two. His interest in Penny always seemed genuine, even if he initially wanted to avoid a relationship. Penny was strong and smart. She kept her wits about her and never came across as a helpless female. Yes, she needed help at the end, but I’m not sure she wouldn’t have figured out a way to save herself. I liked that a lot. In true Warren fashion, you’ll find the strong family interaction, a tender romance, and action and suspense that keeps you guessing about what will happen next. As usual, there is a strong faith element with some important truths we all need reminding of from time to time. While the Penelope mystery wraps up in this book, the other mystery thread that ultimately will focus on Stein continues. Warren is building the intrigue with each book, and I’m eager to see how she will bring it all together in the end. For readers, it will probably make the most sense if you read the books in order. Conrad is another winner from Susan May Warren.

Fast-paced action with plenty of unanswered question ensue as Penelope Pepper, podcaster, follows the leads to uncover the killer in several mysterious, and related, deaths. Conrad Kingston gets caught up in the search, and entangled with Penelope. There’s romance, emotion, intrigue, and family drama. There are also on-going questions involving a tech billionaire, so reading the books in order will lead to a better understanding of that story (which I anticipates wraps up in the final book of this series, Steinbeck. Complex, compelling, and encouraging, this book is first rate entertainment that kept me turning pages.

Conrad is the second book in the explosive romantic suspense series by Susan May Warren. This story follows the first book with the Kingston’s family plus other awesome characters. Penelope & Conrad are the two MC in this book. Penelope is a true crime podcaster and Conrad, plays for the Blue Ox hockey team.

First of all, I love how Susan always incorporates other characters from their previous books/series. This is no different, you have Wyatt Marshall, for one and if I can remember correctly the other Kingston’s cousins of this Kingston’s. The twists and turns of this book had me hooked. I’m invested in this series with each book that comes out. I love how the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat every time.

Murder, Suspense, Adventure, Drama, Breath-Taking-Edge-of-Your-Seat Action, and Swoon-Worthy Romance are all wrapped up in this amazing new book by Susan May Warren.
Wow! I’m so glad this is NOT the last book in this new series, because I am truly enjoying getting to know all of these characters and their many skills and relationships.
It’s like I’m part of their family as I read and picture all the crazy, intense events happening in their lives.
Susan May Warren has been one of my favorite authors for a long time and I will continue to read her books because they are packed full of adventure and timely life lessons. She fills her books with breathtaking scenes and action. OH, and there is a lot of action in this story. I didn’t want to put it down from the first page to the end I was captured and taken on an adventure. I don’t know much about the world of hockey, but reading this book made me watch to watch a game or two.
Another thing I love about her books is that, in each of Susan May Warren’s books she tenderly weavings God’s love and truths in such a way that it isn’t pushy or in your face. However, it’s always a lasting lesson to live by. She is a very skilled writer and an amazing individual.
I think I will continue to apply this disclaimer to all my reviews from now on:
I'm at a loss for eloquent words to convey the depth of emotions and feelings I get each time I pick up one of Susan May Warren's books.
Now, I highly recommend you pick this book up.
The publisher gave me this book, but this did not influence my review in any way; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I've said this before, but I will say it again, Susan never misses her mark! I absolutely love her books and I hope she never stops writing!

The Minnesota Kingston siblings have been nothing short of an adventure so far! Here are some highlights about Conrad's story:

First of all, I would 100% put Conrad and Penelope in the opposites attract trope. They are VERY different people but I loved that despite all of the differences...they just fit!

I really enjoyed getting to know Penelope better. And though there were times throughout this novel that I wanted to strangle her, I also really admire her determination and her eternal hope for justice! She kept going no matter what obstacles were put in her way and uses her head when put into dangerous situations. (Even if a bit of impulsiveness got her into that situation.)

Conrad was an incredibly strong character. I loved watching him grow throughout the story. Grow towards forgiveness, towards love and towards God. He truly shined by the end of the novel and I was cheering so hard for him!

Also, I LOVED being back with the Blue Ox hockey team!!!!! It was wonderful to see Wyatt Marshall was still playing. But the BEST part was getting to hear from Jace Jacobson again!!!! He is still my absolute favorite Susan May Warren hero and I loved getting to see him as the Blue Ox coach!

All in all, another five star read! Full of mystery, intrigue and suspense but with a wonderful love story balancing it all! I cannot wait for Doyle's book!

Ahhh! Susan May Warren's Conrad has me rethinking my views of science fiction - because I think everyone needs a Conrad, so somebody better start cloning.

Strong, protective, principled, and caring, he's the kind of guy I want to have around - but I'm really glad that Penelope Pepper knows where to find him, because trouble is always finding her. They're really the perfect match, and isn't that what everyone dreams about?

Part of what makes this book so great is the way that Warren draws the parallels between what happened to Conrad and Penelope in the past and what they need to learn to move into their future. As always, it was chock full of quotable goodness - great lessons about faith, forgiveness, and moving on; the same lessons that we all need to hear at one time or another.

I couldn't figure out where this book was going, though; there are some serious plot twists happening in this one, and I love the surprises! Even more, there were some great series cliffhangers, and I can't wait to see what happens! As usual, we'll need to wait for the next book to figure out some of them, but I'm already mentally in line. I definitely need more Kingstons on my TBR pile.

So if you love hunky heroes, deep lessons, fast action, and strong families, then the Minnesota Kingstons are the series for you - and Conrad is coming out soon. Get ready!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This is the second book in this Christian contemporary romantic suspense and I am loving it. There are multiple threads of suspense and mystery in the series that are connected. This book continues questions on a murder case that our heroine, Penelope, was looking into before the last book started. Bleeding into this book, the danger ramps up and is a whirlwind. I never could’ve predicted what the reality of it actually was. Our hero, Conrad, is a star hockey player who has to deal with his past and panic attacks. Through a bit of a fake relationship, these two grow closer and disclose secrets and pains. In addition, we have another overarching mystery dealing with AI technology that will take us around the world in future books. I love how much we see of all of the main characters of this sibling group that will feature in their own books later in the series. Strong faith of the family, the support of friends, the Midwest Minnesota feel, I love it all. I am very excited for the next book in this series. This is a just kisses romance.

I received an eARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Conrad was such a kind, loveable character. His struggle with anxiety attacks and the past choices that triggered them made him human and relatable. I had a difficult time connecting with Penelope in book one in this series, but found her motivation understandable and her personality much more endearing in this story. I loved the fresh twist on the fake dating trope and the signature family dynamics. No one does family dynamics quite like Susan May Warren. I did struggle a bit with the complexity of the murder mystery plot and keeping who was who straight. At times, I was honestly lost. I do have lingering questions about Penelope’s family situation, which is one of the many things I love about Susan’s brand of romantic suspense—she knows how to leave an irresistible trail of crumbs for her reader. Without giving anything away, I am looking forward to future installments in this series and peeling back the layers of Penelope’s sister, Tia.

Steinbeck and the mysterious Emberly have me itching for the next installment in this series. Oh, and we can’t forget the intrigue surrounding Declan Stone.

Danger, steaming emotions, unresolved issues and secrets resulted in a can’t-put-down-read.

Firstly, start with book one, Jack, since Penelope and Conrad's story starts there. Their chemistry is obvious to everyone but them, both of them struggling with letting go of guilt and insecurity from past events. Forgiveness and trust was a main theme in this story.

“You don’t need to unravel everything—you just need to put your reputation and your actions into God’s hands and follow His voice. Learn, yes, but don’t keep looking behind. Let mercy abound.”

I loved Conrad and Penelope together. They were cute together but strong as a team and supportive of one another. Even in times where Penelope's decisions placed them both in danger.

“Forgiveness doesn’t have to be earned. It just has to be accepted.”

The mystery plot kept me guessing. I did not have an idea who was behind everything right till the end.

There is also a side plot which started in book one with a spy and her search for a program. Everything seems connected in this book but also not. I really want to know what will happen next and if Declan Stone is good or bad!

Penelope Pepper is on thin ice. As a mystery podcaster and billionaire’s daughter, she’s become quite the celebrity. But someone is out to silence her forever.

As she’s investigating the case of Sarah Livingston, a cold case tied up in what seems to be her best friend’s murder, she’s getting in too deep. And somebody has to protect her before she gets hurt. Or worse, killed.

Meet Conrad Kingston, the center for the Blue Ox hockey team. Running from the past that haunts him, the last thing he needs is to keep company with a socialite like Penelope.
But - she needs protection. And he is in a prime spot to do it.

As an error gets them in a fake relationship, they become a social media favorite, and a point of gossip. But one of them doesn’t know it’s fake.

Soon Conrad goes from fake boyfriend to bodyguard as Penny’s enemies close in. They must be stopped before it’s too late.

In Book 2 of The Minnesota Kingstons, get caught up in mystery, romance, and intrigue as you join Conrad and Penelope on their journey to happily ever after.

Conrad is here! Don't say that too loudly or you'll send him running for the locker room. Conrad Kingston, professional hockey player, compassionate champion of those in trouble. Or maybe just one billionaire heiress, Penelope Pepper.
These two get in so much trouble in the pages of this book. But it's pretty fun to follow them and see what's going to happen next.
If you're a fan of Susan May Warren you won't be surprised find how excellent this story is. If you haven't already started this series jump in. It's excellent. This family is so dynamic! And in true SWM-style we run in to a few other favorite characters along the way. I so enjoy how Warren expertly weaves past stories in to present ones. It helps this memory hold on to fictional friends a little longer.
This book if full of everything: fast paced, swoon worthy, high stakes, pulse pounding, adventure seeking, boldness, dysfunction, misunderstandings, growth, faith.
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this adventure. All opinions are my own.

Loved being able to see some of my favorite Blue Ox characters!
.
Conrad was an absolute sweetheart in this story, he showed so much patience and care for those he feels responsible for as he faces his own struggles.
.
Penelope grew on my from the first book. I appreciated her desire for seeking the truth, even though it sometimes gets her in sticky situations.
.
This book is a type of fake dating, but doesn't follow some of the conventions usual for the trope.
.
It took me a while to get into this story but once I was a ways into it I enjoyed it.
.
Steinbeck's scenes were definitely the most compelling to me and I'm excited to see what happens next!
.
I was given a complementary copy of this book from the publisher, all thoughts and opinions are honest and completely my own.

Romance, sweet, Christian, mystery, murder; series but stand alone read.
Conrad and Penny’s story almost didn’t happen with all the crazy with their social media and managers. The murder mystery that Penny is determined to solve throws a roadblock into their relationship. Penny’s dogged determination to blindly follow any leads, and avoid help, has Conrad watching her, following and helping all the while they are both falling for each other. Deep, emotional, heartfelt, honest emotions and revelations about each of their pasts made this a compelling read. Glimpses and overlaps with Stein and Jack make you want more, and prepare you for the next novel in the series. Can’t wait to see all the connections unfold, but this was immediately satisfying and incredible. SMW knows how to write her novels to keep you wanting more!

Susan May Warren delivered a blockbuster book yet again. Lock the doors, get the popcorn ready, and be prepared to be immersed in Conrad and Penny's world of ice hockey and crime podcasts.
Penny stirred up a hornet's nest with all her questions about murdered victims! Will she be able to stay out of the murderer's clutches? Can she solve this cold case? Will Conrad be able to keep her alive? The villain will keep you guessing, and he/she is quite persistent in trying to silence Penny!
I love how the characters grow and develop. The mix of suspense, drama, intrigue, family, romance, and faith is the perfect blend to keep you spellbound!
The depth in the story lingers and the faith-nuggets blessed me.

I fully enjoyed this book! From revisiting some characters from previous series to
the story in this book picking the mystery in Penelope's podcast from book 1 in the series. Penelope, again, is jumping headfirst into figuring out the murder mystery. And, again, she is getting herself into trouble. And this time, she is bringing Conrad into the trouble with her because he is not letting her get herself into danger again.
I don't want to give any spoilers so let me sum up this review by saying how much I appreciated how effortlessly the author was able to share Gods love and His healing through something as down to earth as a conversation with family. I loved the genuineness of that.

Susan May Warren has done it again! This latest installment in the Minnesota Kingstons series delivers the perfect blend of romance, suspense, and heart. I love how she crafts characters that feel so real—like people you actually know and root for.

Penelope and Conrad’s dynamic is fun, heartfelt, and filled with just the right amount of tension. The fake dating trope mixed with real danger keeps the stakes high, making it impossible to put this book down. And Warren’s signature way of weaving emotions into her storytelling makes every moment feel genuine and relatable.

I also appreciate how the mystery unfolds, keeping you engaged while connecting back to past books and leaving you eager for the next one. If you love clean romance with a thrilling twist, this one is a must-read!

Conrad and Penelope have known each other for a long time. Penny, as Conrad calls her, is seeking the truth to a case she's solving on her podcast. As incidents keep occurring, Conrad is also trying to figure out fact and fiction about Penny and the incidents that keep coming. Danger, mystery, as well as past and present emotions connect the dots in both of their lives. As Conrad attempts to stay with the Blue Ox Hockey Team, he is learning to choose what is real and how to forgive himself by letting go of the past. Love, justice, faith, honor and forgiveness all play a role in this story. I believe Susan May Warren wrote a fabulous, fact-paced story with mystery and non-stop thrills. I enjoyed it and give it 5 out of 5 stars!

You’ve gotta love a famous hotshot hockey player (aka Mr. June in the Blue Ox calendar) who’s not as skanky as social media makes him out to be. (I don’t even like hockey, but I love these books with the hockey players… Lol.) He may be impulsive, but of course Penny Pepper is more so, given her history for searching for the truth about a cold case for her murder mystery podcast. But when people start turning up dead, and it’s all linked to the case, will she end up dead too? Penny doesn’t trust athletes… they’re usually just after her family’s money. Especially because her father owns the Blue Ox team. So when her manager suggests a fake dating relationship with Conrad, she doesn’t refuse. Only, is it fake? (Spoiler: The “fakeness” may be one-sided… or no-sided. lol.)

Conrad is the center for the Blue Ox Minnesota hockey team. He met Penelope Pepper at his sister Boo’s wedding and felt an attraction. Penelope is from a prominent family, and determined to make it on her on her own. She has a crime investigation podcast which supports her with many followers. When the murder she is investigating brings the threat to her door, and the murders keep piling up, Conrad is determined to protect her.

Who is behind the threats and the murders? Who or what is the connection? I have to say Susan wove a tangled storyline with an unexpected perpetrator.

I received this book from the publisher and was not required to leave a review. The opinion is my own

Conrad is action-packed and full of twists and turns. Of course, who doesn't love a big, tough hockey player with a heart of gold, who'd do anything to keep the love of his life safe, even before he realizes she's the love of his life? I love a good fake dating trope, and this one is adorable. Throw in some suspense, danger on all sides, and Conrad has his hands full trying to keep Penelope out of trouble. As always, Susan May Warren delivers plenty of edge-of-your-seat suspense, alongside a sizzling (but still clean) romance, and some teasers about what's happening with other family members, maybe hints toward their own stories later this year. A fabulous second installment of The Minnesota Kingstons.

Always a wild ride!

Conrad is a man caught in the web of his past mistakes. The panic attacks and nightmares leave him feeling off balance and overwhelmed.

Pepper is on the hunt for the truth about the cold case she’s chosen for her podcast, but her life is built on a foundation of lies.

Together they work to find the culprit (or culprits) behind the events of Pepper’s cold case podcast. Can they solve the puzzle before the next body drops?

Susan May Warren’s stories pack a one two punch. First, she hits you hard in the feels; then she hits you harder in the soul. Dropping Biblical nuggets of wisdom is her trademark and she does it so well!
