Kingdom of Chaosis the highly-anticipated second installment of the romantic urban fantasy sensation, Creatures of Chaos, where the dangers are real, the stakes are high, and survival isn’t guaranteed.
---------------------------------------
I made it through Chaos with my life, but Becks may have paid the ultimate price. Even though there's only a slim chance he’s still alive, I’m not giving up on the dragon shifter who holds my heart. Not while there’s still breath in my lungs.
To save him, I’ll have to navigate a world I don’t understand, face enemies more dangerous than ever before, and master the unpredictable power rising inside me. But perhaps the greatest risk of all? Relying on Talon—my former Chaos rival who lied and deceived me.
Trusting him might be a mistake. Falling for him could be deadly.
The games are over, but the chaos has only just begun.
Perfect for fans of slow burn romance, high-stakes adventure, and everything supernatural. Creatures of Chaos is a fast-paced urban fantasy series that’s being called The Serpent and the Wings of Night meets Crave.

Kingdom of Chaos was entertaining from start to finish! I liked that we shifted to a new location and new characters were introduced. This one picked up right where the previous book left off, so I didn’t have to wait to find out what happened after that brutal cliffhanger! Stakes were higher, and I am so glad Locklyn’s character seemed to grow a bit. She was much more confident and less emotional and anxious. Also really happy that the love triangle is officially over.
Towards the end of the book , things started to really speed up and as it was coming to a close- I felt like the author left out a ton of information that I would like to have answers to. This was a 4 star for me until things were left unsaid. It seems as if this will still be a trilogy- but I don’t know what I think about the ending, really threw me for a loop. I think in order to make everyone happy, she tried something different, and I am interested to see where it goes. Overall I had a fun time, and enjoyed the banter and new characters. Would recommend.
This was such a good continuation of the story! There was so much action, intrigue and mystery that it was impossible to put this book down. It picks up right where book one left off and it was nice to get some answers to questions we were left with, especially with how we were left hanging in Creatures of Chaos.
I loved the tension between Locklyn and Talon and how that played out through a slow burn narrative. It was also nice to see an introduction to some new characters as well as learning more about some of the ones I loved from book one. I just love the overall found family vibes this story has.
There were so many unexpected things that happened in this book. My mind is completely blown by that ending… I need to know what happens next!

Thank you to the author for a gifted copy of the book.
This was an amazing continuation of the Creatures Of Chaos series. This book picks up right where the first book left off and I didn’t want to put this one down. I loved following Locklyn and her friends as they worked together to save Becks. I loved getting to know the characters more in this book as well as meeting some new characters. I was so invested in this story and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I’m so curious as to what the next book is going to have in store for the characters, especially after that twist at the end.

Okkkk WUT HAPPENED LIKE I WAS CRYING ONE SECOND, THEN SMILING GOOFY THE NEXT, BUT THEN then, I WANTED TO THROW MY KINDLE ACROSS THE ROOM (I didn’t, don’t worry!) But my point is that I had so many emotions with reading this book and it wasn’t just because there was ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER.. shocker!! I kind of was expecting that because I had heard that the author was writing the last book in the trilogy. Usually the second book in the series is always the most boring but I actually found this one similar to how much action there was in the first or maybe more which was really refreshing! I got to see growth in the characters and finally see which guy Locklyn picks (don’t worry guys, I won’t spoil it!) The only things I didn’t like and was a bit of a shocker for me was that there were two cuss words [not used as a curse but as calling someone - you know] and that again the kissing toed the line to what I’m comfortable with and was a bit much for a YA book. So I took off a star for that which was sad for me to do bc if those things weren’t in the book then I would gladly give this book 5 stars 😔.
Overall though, I loved this book and the very slow burn romance 😍😍
I was excited to read the conclusion of Locklyn and Talons story (because it was always Talon for me 🤷♀️). I was very surprised at some of the things they went through. While I was not a huge fan at all the back and forth, I can appreciate the tangle of emotions that were present. I dis not like that we barely saw Lock and Talon truly together. I felt like it took so long for her to make a decision that it was rushed in the end.
The characters were delightfully charming and raw in some moments while remaining witty in others. I kissed the games but the stakes were certainly higher in this book. I was very happy we saw more of the worlds and got to know Talon much better.
This was a good second book in the series. The twist at the end, I definitely did not see that coming and makes me wonder what will happen next. I’m not sure where we would go from here but I would def find it weird if certain people got together in the next book. Either way I will be reading it!
I really enjoyed Kingdom of Chaos, and I definitely appreciate the way the plot progressed after we had so many untied threads in Creatures of Chaos. I did struggle a little bit with the pacing in the beginning of the book though - it felt like a lot of hurry up and wait. While I do think that that was necessary in order to give Locklyn the time necessary to fully dissect and come to terms with her relationships / feelings and her part in the prophecy, I still wanted a little bit more action.
Once they made a plan and the ball got rolling with the crew, I liked how quickly things started to happen and I loved all the tension between Locklyn and the guys. In book one, I truly hadn’t picked a side in the love triangle. I think that the way Locklyn’s feelings progressed in this book definitely made sense, and even though feelings were hurt, I think she made the right decision in the end. I was also very excited to see a couple chapters with a second point of view. I think even those small glimpses gave a great insight into their relationship.
Overall, even though a lot of this book was Locklyn trying to navigate life-or-death-apocalyptic level stress, I thought it was balanced nicely with humor. Imogen is just crazy enough to be a fun side character, and even the scene with the guardian beast had a bit of unexpected levity. I enjoyed those little pops of laughter throughout the book.
I’m definitely invested in this series and the fate of the realms, so count me in for book 3. But the introduction of the next book in the epilogue seemed pretty random. I’m definitely interested to see if it is still Locklyn‘s story, or if we’ll have a new point of view.
❤️ “I see someone who deserves to be chosen. I’d choose you, every time. Every version of you - strong, stubborn, scared - I see it all. I. See. You.”
I really enjoyed this book. I loved every single thing about it.
It left off where book one ended. So if you haven’t read that or know how it ends don’t read any more of my review!
We continue to follow Locklyn who was separated from Becks and found out that she is human. So she needs to pick up the pieces and figure out where to go after the truths revealed and how to get Becks back. She tracks down Talon to help with her search. They need to find a portal back to the human realm.
The love triangle was so back and forth for me! I thought her connection with Becks was so good and pure. I liked their chemistry in book one, but he didn’t believe in her and allow her to fly he was always trying to protect her. I liked Talon from the get go he believed and encouraged her. He challenged her and was her equal. But he left her after the trial.
Her, Talon, Ensley, Titus and Imogen all rally together and enter into the human world to find Becks but also to stop Kirrem. The whole time Locklyn is absorbing Talons magic. He teaches her how to control it and through their training and travel feelings are unfolding and warring. The almost kisses between them was PURE torture!! But it paid off!!
So many reveals and truths are found out in this book finally. I loved finally finding out what Talon was. I loved that the love triangle resolved. The ending was absolutely nuts and I can’t wait for book 3!!

SUCH a good book!! 👏🏻 Julie Hall always does amazing so I knew I was going to love this one and I flew through it! This was book 2 in the series and we picked up right where book 1 ended. Locklyn, Talon, Ensley and Titus all try to go to the human world to save Becks and it was quite the journey to get there.
I loved that the love triangle was resolved in this book since I’m not the biggest fan of love triangles 🫣 I also loved Ensley and Titus so much! He was so sweet and protective of her 🥹 I love Locklyn and Talon and have been team Talon since the second he stepped in that diner in book 1! So excited to have gotten some chapters in his POV 🙌🏻
We do have alittle time jump at the end of this book and a huge cliffhanger ending! I need book 3 immediately after that last line!
I will say I liked book 1 more just because I loved the Chaos trials, mystery and high stakes. However this was still an amazing and solid book and I was very happy with the outcome!

Book 2 did not disappoint! I loved the return of our favorite characters and witnessing their developments as well as meeting the new characters. I loved that we got to learn a whole lot more about our mysterious mmc and I was pleasantly surprised by his order reveal (which we do finally find out in this book!) The new characters were a breath of fresh air and I can’t wait to see what else they bring to the plot in the next installment.
Can we also talk about that cliffhanger at the end!?! Was not expecting it at all! (And usually I can see it coming from a mile away) I totally feel dumb for not suspecting it, but can’t say that I’m mad about it.
An amazing continuation of the Creatures of Chaos series! This book picks up right where book one left off and had me hooked from page one. I loved the tension between Locklyn and Talon, the introduction of new characters, and the found family vibes. There were twists I didn’t see coming, and that ending completely blew me away. I need the next book now!

This sequel further expands the world and growing threats. The inner circle grows and I adore these new characters. Locklyn’s story continues to soar as she further hones her skills and adjusts to her new reality.
This love triangle has all the palpable tension and longing! Between a best friend who would burn the world for her and an enigmatic rival who would sacrifice everything for her, Locklyn’s heart is divided. But first, she must face her greatest trial ahead.
Julie never fails to expertly weave fast-paced action, heartache, and swoon into the fabric of her stories. Kingdom of Chaos is no exception. This story captivated me from beginning to end and I cannot wait until I get my hands on the next installment!
Huge thanks to @julie.hall.author for the review copy. This is my honest and voluntary review
This was a great second book to Creatures of Chaos. It’s an urban fantasy full of action, magic, suspense and love. The book immediately pulled me in and didn’t let go. I love this author’s writing style and can’t wait to read more books by her!
Gaze longingly, leeeean in, feel his breath on your lips, get interrupted by your annoying friend. Now, do this at least 8 times in the span of 24 hours and you have the first half of the book.
Next, we’re gunna have a seminar on maintaining interpersonal relationships post love triangle. This must only be done during harrowing rescue attempts. Because why have a sense of urgency when you could be focusing on justifying shitty behavior in the name of love? That’s part two.
Part 3 is a real doozy because we get a face reveal! Locklyn is, in fact, Jesus Christ. She dies (mostly) for our sins and is subsequently saved because God’s (or a distantly related Vampire Uncle’s) love is always going to have victory over death. And just to make sure the kiddos reading this don’t get the wrong idea about traveling to an alternate dimension to be with your dragon boyfriend, she becomes a teen bride. Whew, that was a close one. Wouldn’t want readers to get any funny ideas.
Snark aside, I did like the first half of the book—it was adventurous and funny in parts. After they get to Becks though, I just wanted it to end. there was waaaay too much dialogue about feelings and not nearly enough ass kicking. Bleh.
DNF @21%. The writing was so amateur in this book. Clunky & basic with frequent repetition of dialogue, thoughts, etc. even within a paragraph on multiple occasions. Poor editing, character development, world building & description. Just poorly executed, it read like a school essay. Life is too short for badly written books.
We pick up very quickly after leaving with the devastation of Creatures of Chaos. The end of the Chaos competition, Becks missing, and Locklyn wanting to go find him.
Given everything that Locklyn finds out during this story, she handles everything quite gracefully. She is so determined, not waiting for the adults to solve all the problems. She gathers together Ensley and Titus and go off to find Talon to save Becks in the human realm. And Imogen! Talon's cousin brings a firecracker of activity with her! Her attitude was the perfect addition to this rag tag group.
And all that building TENSION between Locklyn and Talon! I did feel bad when they do finally find Becks, and Locklyn is a bit awkward with him, and he knows something has changed, even when he's trying to get back to what they had before the final Chaos trial. I was so excited when they (meaning Locklyn and Talon) finally followed their feelings!
The final battle with Kerrim was definitely stressful, with Locklyn being caught in an illusion and her friends being unaware that she needed help. But then her and Talon pushing themselves to their breaking points, so much more stress! I was devastated with the solution to keep Talon alive, instant tears, when they had finally gotten together. But the ending was absolutely perfect! And then of course we have something that might bring them back to the Creature world after all...
Some favorite quotes: It's the only way I can function--by pushing it all down. Falling apart isn't an option. "She has to be almost ten years older than him." "Guy's got game." He makes me angry. He makes me ache. He makes me remember everything I'm trying so hard to bury. Way to go, bestie. "You knew I was listening." "From the moment you peeked your pretty brown eyes around the corner to spy on us." "I wasn't spying. I was eavesdropping. There's a difference." Right. So we're just going to ignore the fact that I spent hours passed out on top of him while he may or may not have been petting me like some kind of housecat. "That kind of hope... it matters." ...if he could take away my sorrow, he would move heaven and hell to do so. Every time he approaches, even the most docile animals scatter. I can't help but wonder if they sense the predator in him. I think it's probably just my imagination, until I watch a turtle bolt with surprising speed after Talon shoots it a side-eye. It. Is. So. Cute.... I fall in love instantly. I want to name it, take it home, make it my pet. (Honestly, this whole bunny monster scene is so funny!) I'll just distract the "monster" with belly rubs and baby talk. "I'm going to call you Fluffy," I say, taking another step forward, fully intending to ask if it wants to be my pet-slash-best friend. And honestly, with everything he's been through, losing Shadow Striker, his family, and now his powers, it's no wonder he feels unmoored. "With you, anything is possible." When he lowers his head, a rush of emotion, sharp and consuming, stirs in me. It's not the same as what I feel for Becks, but it's just as powerful. In some ways, it's more intense. More immediate. More dangerous. More-- "Oh, Freckles," he whispers, and a delicious shiver runs down my spine. I hate it when he uses that nickname... but I also love it. "Oh, Freckles. Haven't you realized by now I'd never let anything happen to you?" "You absolutely did. You're a violent little thing. I didn't want you setting me on fire this morning, so I put the pillows up to protect your virtue." It's been Becks for me from the beginning. He's my best friend. We've already been through so much. There's no way I'm giving up on us. Especially not for what I'm sure is just a harmless flirtation and maybe a little trauma bonding. "You were always a force to be reckoned with, but now you're going to be unstoppable." ... his comment feels like a blow because it reveals his true thoughts about humans. About me. That they're weak. That I'm weak. It's not like the other kisses we've shared. This one doesn't ignite a spark of passion, it wraps around me like a blanket, warm and steady. Comfort. Safety. The two things Becks has always been to me, and probably always will be. "Freckles, I suggest you stop looking at me like that. ... Unless, you're finally ready to do something about it." "That Becks was your first love, but not your forever love." "I'm not going to stand by and watch him stifle your potential or diminish your strength in the name of protecting you." "That's not what you need in a partner. You don't need to be coddled, set on a shelf or a pedestal to be looked at or fawned over. You need to be challenged and treated as an equal, not just a pretty object to be protected. You want someone who understands your strength and stands with you, not someone who's too afraid you'll break to let you learn how to fly." I don't need someone to shield me. I need someone who sees me. "I see someone who's stronger than she knows. Who fights even when she's breaking. I see fire. I see loyalty. I see someone who terrifies me in the best way, because she never backs down. But I also see the cracks you try to hide. The fear you don't speak out loud. And I still see you as the bravest should I know." "I see someone who deserves to be chosen. I'd choose you, every time. Every version of you--strong, stubborn, scared--I see it all. I. See. You." "Becks was your first, but I'm your forever." "Just to be clear, I don't plan on dying tomorrow." "Just so we're clear, I don't plan on letting you." It reminds me that Talon has been there from the very start, even back in the first Chaos trial, when he saved me after Jules left me for dead in that underground cavern. Since that day, we've been saving each other. "They may be your world... but you're mine. And because they matter to you, I'll do everything I can to protect them. Even if it means risking my own life. But I can't, and won't, promise to put their lives above yours." It's one of the things I appreciate most about him. His quiet, unwavering faith in me. But even as much as he's been my safe harbor, I'm starting to wonder if we were meant to stay tethered forever. No matter how perfect he is... maybe we're just not perfect for each other. "You deserve someone who chooses you without hesitation. Who doesn't make you wait or wonder or hurt." I don't want Becks, not like I used to. I want him. Even though Becks was my first love, Talon was supposed to be my forever love. Even a world away, she fills it completely, consuming every part of me. It's filled with laughter, shared secrets, and a love that neither of us ever saw coming.
If you love a fantasy story with forced proximity, slow burn, love triangle (best friend vs former rival), one bed, touch her and die, secretive MMC, shared magic, accidental bonding, the bad boy with a heart of gold, found family, supernaturals hiding in plain sight, secret magical societies, and end of the world stakes, make sure to check out Kingdom of Chaos!

4⭐️ 0🌶️(YA) Kingdom of Chaos was a fun read! It has messaging on self love and acceptance that will resonate well with younger readers. The story felt pretty complete though, and I feel like it could have been a duology if one part of the ending had been altered. The story feels complete so I’m unsure where book 3 will go.
TROPES Love Triangle Magical Bonds Fulfilling a Prophecy He Calms Her Panic Attacks
THE WORLD There were some components of the world building that felt left out, or hidden from the reader, that I wish had been fleshed out more. There were some parts of Shadow Striker and the magical bonds that received more descriptions as it was needed throughout the book, so it felt like the author added more abilities to both of those things during the writing process to fit the story.
THE CHARACTERS I found the characters to have much more depth in this book, especially the side characters! The MCs were good (Talon still being the most developed in my opinion) and I liked their growth.
THE ROMANCE It was predictable but I’m very happy with how it ended. The romance arc feels wrapped up to me, and the end made me giddy because it was better than I expected.
QUOTES: “To those who carry it all, the unseen. You are beautiful, not broken. You are worthy of love, of another. Better together, to the end.”
"I don't look down on anyone for not having magic. Powers don't define your worth or prove your strength any more than your guns do."
"That's not what you need in a partner," he says. "You don't need to be coddled, set on a shelf or a pedestal to be looked at or fawned over. You need to be challenged and treated as an equal, not just a pretty object to be protected. You want someone who understands your strength and stands with you, not someone who's too afraid you'll break to let you learn how to fly."
"I see someone who's stronger than she knows. Who fights even when she's breaking. I see fire. I see loyalty. I see someone who terrifies me in the best way, because she never backs down. Not from her pain, and not from her power. But I also see the cracks you try to hide. The fear you don't speak out loud. And I still see you as the bravest soul I know."
"I see someone who deserves to be chosen. I'd choose you, every time. Every version of you-strong, stubborn, scared—I see it all. I. See. You."
"I won't tell you everything's going to be all right," he says honestly. "But I will promise to be there every step of the way. Just like I have been from the beginning. I won't let you face any of this alone."
"You good?" he asks softly. He's been asking me that a lot today, but I can't say that I mind "No," I whisper. "But I'm here." He gives a slight nod, his thumb stroking gently along the side of my hand. "That's enough."
💜 ⚜️ Book Title - Kingdom of Chaos ⚜️ Author - Julie Hall ⚜️ Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⚜️ Some Genre/Themes/Tropes: Fiction, Romance and Fantasy
I received an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book via the author. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is my honest review.
This book wastes no time easing you back in, it dives straight into the events following the first book, picking up right where we left off. The pacing is fast and engaging, pulling you back into the world without missing a beat.
We’re introduced to several new characters who add depth and complexity to the story, while also getting to see meaningful growth and development in the characters we already know and love. Their relationships evolve, sass is introduced in the form of my favourite vamp, and the stakes feel higher than ever.
One of the main tropes in the story is a love triangle for Locklyn’s heart between Becks and Talon. I’ll admit, I am a full-on Talon stan and will always root for him. The tension between the three of them is deliciously frustrating. Sometimes I wanted to smother Locklyn with a pillow for some of her lack in decision making and avoidance tendencies.
This is full of longing, drama, and those little moments that keep you flipping pages. (Don’t worry, I won’t spoil how it plays out!)
Damn cliffhangers… ya get me everytime…
I would recommend this book to others. I will be waiting anxiously for the sequel and definitely will look for other books written by this author.
I want to say thank you to the author for the ARC.
Note (How I rate): One is DNF. Two is got there but struggled. Three stars is a good, enjoyable read. Four is an excellent read and five is a comfort read that lingers with me for life. My five stars can be imperfect but to me they hit right.
“I see someone who deserves to be chosen. I’d choose you, every time. Every version of you – strong, stubborn, scared – I see it all. I. See. You.”
Kingdom of Chaos is absolutely the sequel we’ve been waiting for! It was one of my most anticipated reads of 2025, and honestly, it delivered everything I hoped for — and then some.
The story picks up right after that jaw-dropping cliffhanger from the first book. Locklyn’s journey continues as she heads to the human world, determined to rescue her best friend (and first love), Becks, who’s trapped there. But before she can do that, she has to team up with her former rival, Talon—a complicated relationship, to say the least.
From start to finish, the plot had me hooked. I couldn’t put this down and ended up finishing it in one day! The stakes keep climbing, new characters add fresh twists, and it’s definitely a page-turner.
The romance hits all the right notes—longing, burning gazes, and all that good angsty stuff. I will admit, I got slightly frustrated watching Locklyn waffle between Talon and Becks at first. But with so much chaos around her—the shocking truth about her birth and a villain still on the loose—I get why she couldn’t just sort out her feelings right away. Still, a little less denial would’ve saved everyone some heartache!
And just when I thought things might be wrapping up nicely, that epilogue shook things up!! Clearly, this universe is far from done, and the story’s only getting more intriguing. I’m curious if the next book will follow Locklyn and Talon again or introduce fresh POVs. Either way, count me in—I’ll definitely be picking up whatever comes next.
I received a review copy from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily!
I loved the audiobook voice actors! They're both phenomenal. They brought life to the story. They made this audiobook so much more fun! I did not know who Talon's voice actor was at first because I had never heard any audiobook with him, but damn! He really brought Talon to life. Even at 2x speed, his voice still played like it was at a normal smooth speed. Highly impressive!
The way the voice actress played as male voices was great! I absolutely loved it. She brought Locklyn to life and made Imogen that much more great! I don't think mentally I could have brought her to life better than it was done. It just fit exactly what I thought.
The Kindle version is just as much fun to read especially with the fun art you get to see. Even some you don't normally see on Julie's page which also makes it nice. Even though we don't have many books with pictures as adults, books like this are fun when they include art. Adds life to it.
I really enjoyed the premise of the story. For me as less of a romance reader, I did find it focused too much on the romance rather than the story, but if you love romance books and all that comes with it then you're gonna love the connection between Talon and Locklyn with a hint of Becks.
It follows Book 1 really well and it's very easy to follow where the story is going with everything. Everything is explained very well, including the magic system.
If you've read Book 1, you're gonna love Book 2, especially the twist at the end!! I'm excited to read Book 3 because now we're really gonna dive into Locklyn and everything she doesn't even know about herself!

"THE FIRST TIME WE KISS. FRECKLES. IT WONT BE TO MAKE ANOTHER GUY JEALOUS. IT'LL BE BECAUSE WE CAN'T LIVE ANOTHER SECOND WITHOUT TASTING EACH OTHER'S LIPS. I'M A PATIENT CREATURE. I CAN WAIT."
“It’s not that I just don’t like seeing you in someone else’s arms. It’s that it’s agony for me to see you there when I know there’s no one else’s arms you should be in but mine.”
Locklyn our FMC is fierce and determined. Trying to figure out life or ☠️ choices torn between two love interests. Touch him and ☠️, reluctant heroine and sassy.
Talon he falls first, and would burn the world down for her, has mysterious powers, touch her and ☠️, sharp tounge, I absolutely loved finding out more about him. The side characters almost stole the show 😂💕
This was such an exciting book! Book 2! Fast paced and full of action and tension. Such a great continuation after book 1 creatures of chaos. Locklyn and the gang travel to the human world to find becks and stop karrim. I loved the tension and slow burn between lock and talon along the way, their feelings growing for each other. The banter and heart wrenching moments and action kept me hooked! I feel lock ultimately made the right choice even though feelings were hurt, the progress of their relationship was beautiful. Loved how there was humor in it. I couldn’t stop reading this! And I didn’t expect that ending!!!now I have to wait for book 3 😱🤯 I need to know what happens next! I read this through the night and I don’t know what to do with myself! I. Can’t. Sleep. Freakin amazing
This author uses ai in their work specifically selling Special Editions with ai art while stating it’s not when questioned.
Red flag 1: On a public post when asked for the artist of the art piece they posted states the artist asked to not be listed.
Red Flag 2: When questioned in the comments that some of the details of the characters including their hands are misshapen and fingers on the same character very different sizes which can be one of the obvious visual signs of generative ai the author gets defensive and calls this a witch hunt.
Red Flag 3: after taking the authors publicly posted art and running it through multiple online reputable ai detection sites, including Sightengine and Hive, they all returned that this was definitely generative ai 79 to 89%. I also ran a few other book art pieces from artists I know don’t use ai and some that do to confirm this accuracy and it clearly identified the ai and non ai works.
Red Flag 4: Once bringing this data to the authors attention hoping that they would want to know if they were being misled by the artist in question they deleted all comments and restricted the post to not allow any comments.
My point is if you are a creator, author or artist who thinks there is nothing wrong with using a little bit of ai you better be up front about it especially when trying to sell something and explicitly stating it’s not ai generated. If you use it and deny it then you already know it’s wrong and you are actively trying to scam and mislead people.
I was Team Talon in book one, and I’m feeling great about my choices right now. I loved seeing their relationship evolve throughout this book. We get more of what we love from book one, while also diving deeper into the relationship. Did I like the way some romantic things were resolved? No. But the end result was satisfying.
The plot of this book was a little all over the place for me. It wasn’t hard to keep up, but I did wish we spent more time in certain places to let the story develop a little more organically.
I did love seeing more of the world. The world in book one was very small and contained, but now we are literally everywhere, including other worlds, and it really adds something to the book that would’ve been lost without it.
Overall, I didn’t love this book as much as book one. The games in book one was really what made me love Creatures of Chaos, and we have moved on to bigger and better things in this book that just didn’t hook me in like the first book did.
Will I be continuing this series? Probably not. It almost feels like the story is ending here, but we have something else slightly different coming in a third book. I’m not even convinced the main characters will still be the main characters. I’m perfectly content treating this book like the end of the series.
Thank you to Julie Hall and her team for an an ARC of this book I’m exchange for an honest review.
After reading the first book and being left on that cliff hanger, I was super keen (and counting down the months) for this books release, and it seems like I'll be counting down till the 3rd books release too.
Julie Hall always has a way with writing that seems to pull the reader in, right from the first page I was hooked.
I loved seeing Locklyns' growth in this book, and how much she developed as her own person! Becks also had a MASSIVE character development through this book, especially when you look at the first chapter he appears in (in Kingdom Of Chaos) and the way he is in Creatures of Chaos, to how he is right near the end.
We were introduced to a whole new cast of characters who all bring a new interesting dynamic to the previous cast of book 1!
The way Julie set up the events for book 3 in the epilogue has me thoroughly intrigued, and with what we found out about Locklyn it definitely wasn't out of the realm of possibilities.
Be warned, coming into this book, you will find a giant rabbit.
The biggest found family
Romantic tension that will have you screaming at the book.
A group of people fighting to save two different worlds from a 2000 year old prophecy.
What an incredible second book! Kingdom of Chaos jumps right in after Creatures of Chaos with Locklyn and her friends reeling after the events of Chaos, the deadly competition which played out in the first book.
Locklyn is determined to find Becks, the dragon shifter she loves, and bring him home and to do that she allies again with Talon, her former Chaos rival that she has conflicted feelings about. Together with their friends, they travel to an alternate world to find Becks. The love triangle elements were spot on with this story. I felt that Julie really portrayed the heartache that Locklyn was feeling with having to make a choice.
I absolutely loved the addition of Secret Societies in this story and felt they developed upon the world and its history really well. The Secret Societies also added some extra players to board, both in the form of enemies and allies, as well as increased the stakes. Expect plenty of action as Locklyn and her friends navigate a completely foreign world for themselves. Imogen was a standout character for me in this book. Her sass and one-liners always hit the spot for me.
The epilogue left me a little unsure of where this story will go next. It did feel like it wrapped up Locklyn’s storyline while also delivering a bit of a cliffhanger. I am curious to see where the story progresses next.
Thank you to Julie Hall for gifting me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I'm not even sure what to say. I absolutely loved this. Especially the tension between Locklyn and Talon. That slow burn was delicious. I may feel a bit bad for Becks but I was #TeamTalon from the get go. BUT what happened to Becks and what he loses, not Locklyn, is devastating. And Imogen! I really didn't like her at first but she grew on me the more I learned about her. Ensley and Titus was very refreshing, Ensley deserves everything. Kade wasn't so bad either.
Locklyn starts her journey to find and get Becks back from the human world. Its a rocky start at first but they pull through. With the gang back together, minus Becks, and a new unwanted teammate, they set out to find a portal. Locklyn starts getting magic that she doesn't understand and can't control. With Talons help, she becomes even more bada**.
But Julie, ma'am, how dare you break my heart like that in chapter 44! Omg I was crying so hard by the end I thought I wouldn't recover! But my heart mended before the end of the book, so i guess i can forgive you. Also, that ending??? Like whhhaaatttt???? I can't wait for the next book!
Kingdom of Chaos was everything my heart needed after that cliffhanger in Creatures of Chaos. While both stories held a sense of mystery and chaos, I adored how much softness Hall wove into our main character's stories in this book. These guys have been through it and they haven't backed down; they've just grown together in ways I didn't see coming. Well, mostly. ;) Through all of the struggle and triumph and growing love, we see them fight for each other, fight for what's good and right, and accept the bittersweet reality of the way life changes us and the choices we must make as we grow. This book is packed full of magical flavor, high-stakes adventure, friends who become like family—and a beautiful thread of forgiveness and unconditional love. Kingdom of Chaos is a whole experience that took my reader's heart from the chaos of the unknown to the peace of an epically satisfying end. At least, to this part of the tale . . .
