I can't help be amazed at the gifts God has delighted me with - a wonderful husband, four amazing children, and the opportunity to write for Him.

I've been writing as long as I can remember - I won my first book writing contest in first grade! Over the years, writing has become, for me, a way to praise God and see Him at work in my life.

Although I have a degree in Mass Communications from the University of MN, my real writing experience started when I penned the The Warren Report - a bi-monthly newsletter that detailed our ministry highlights.

Living in Russia meant I never lacked for great material - and those experiences naturally spilled out first into devotionals and magazine articles and finally into my first published story, "Measure of a Man," in the Tyndale/HeartQuest, Chance Encounters of the Heart anthology.

Susan and husbandI grew up in Wayzata, a suburb of Minneapolis, and became an avid camper from an early age. My favorite fir-lined spot is the north shore of Minnesota - it's where I met my husband, honeymooned and dreamed of living. The north woods easily became the foundation for my first series, The Deep Haven series.based on a little tourist town along the shores of Lake Superior. I have to admit - I'm terribly jealous of Mona, the heroine of my first full-length book, Happily Ever After, a Christy Award Finalist published in 2004 with Tyndale/Heartquest.

Our family moved home from the mission field in June 2004 -- and now we live in the beautiful town I'd always dreamed of! God has amazed me anew with His provision, and blessings -- and allowed me a season when I can write full time for Him.

I 'm delighted you've stopped in to visit. My hope is that you'll be blessed and encouraged by soul-stirring stories of regular people interacting with a God who loves them.

I'd love to hear from you! I love getting mail, especially from readers and I welcome your questions and comments. Write to me at susan@susanmaywarren.com. And, if you're interested, sign up for my newsletter, a quarterly sneak peek into upcoming releases and projects. Thank you for your interest and support.

God Bless and Happy Reading!

Steinbeck’s story was long awaited, since we first met him in the first book, Jack.

This book was all it was promised to be - suspenseful, depth, chemistry between him and Phoenix, and some comebacks of some favourite authors we have met in prior series.

I enjoyed the scenes we saw between Jack and Steinbeck. It was a great solid brother relationship who supported each other and challenged each other to be better.

Phoenix’s back story grabbed at my heart. It explained a bit more about who this strong independent lady is who rather works alone. To fully open up she had to realise she belongs.

I enjoyed how all the comeback characters worked together to help Steinbeck and Phoenix stop a terrorist attack and how the whole family came together and protected their own. Oh boy, Jack, I just wanted to shake him awake and was happy to see how his family did this for me at the end.

A great conclusion to the series, but I am not ready to say goodbye to these characters and want more of them in the future.

Loved Steinbeck and Emberly's story. We see them as they are in each of the previous books in the Minnesota Kingstons series and are integral leading up to Steinbeck. Finally they get their own HEA but not without going through the wringer first. Steinbeck is nonstop action and fast-paced with a perfect blend of faith, romance, and family. It was so wonderful seeing characters from Warren's previous series making an appearance in Steinbeck. Wonderful conclusion to this series.

I have been waiting for this book since we started this series! We’ve seen Steinbeck and Phoenix/Emberly throughout the series in pieces here and there and I couldn’t wait for their HEA. They’ve already been though so much this series, but this book really takes them through the wringer. With a lot of inclusion of their families, this book perfectly blended faith, family, action, suspense, and romance. I loved this Christian romantic suspense and it was a great conclusion to this series - that of course left us wanting more and waiting with baited breath for her next series to begin. We did visit back with Jack and Harper who were having some communication difficulties that had me wanting to whack them both. However, this was a great read with twists and turns and so much more. This is a just kisses romance, intimacy level 2.

I received an eARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

this book had me in tears but it was perfect. such an epic ending to a great series. Steinbeck finally figures out his life and gets to spend his crazy life with the one and only Phoenix. There is explosions, thievery, redemption, and of course love that is seared in the fires of adventures and saving the world.

"Nothing happens to us that doesn't pass through the hands of the Lord. And he is good."

Steinbeck and Phoenix have had an - er, explosive - relationship throughout the series, building our anticipation for their book! I loved seeing their faith grow in this book and see the responses of the other siblings to them. The scenes with the whole family together were sweet and my favorite.

"It's not about what you are but who Jesus is. The Redeemer. The payer of our debt, fulfilling our death sentence, and the victor over the battle between good and evil."

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read the ebook so I could share my unfiltered thoughts!

Finally! Finally I got to read Steinbeck's story. He has been a part of each book in the series. And each book had me hoping that his book would be next. And finally its here! And worth the wait.
I fully enjoyed reading this book and getting to know more background and just who Steinbeck and who Phoenix...Emberly....are. I am sad to see this series end but this was the perfect book to end out the series.
Without giving anything away, let me just say that I want a Kingston family dinner in my life. This family isn't perfect. Each have had their struggles. And each have grown through them. And became stronger as a family.
And Steinbeck and Emberly are no exception. These two have a lot of history to work through. And that just complicates matters as they get to know each other more. Can they trust each other? They are about to find out since they both must work together. In true Susan May Warren form, the adventures these two go through bring lots of ups and downs!
And again, in true Susan May Warren form she brings back characters from other series and I loved seeing them again.
Definitely recommend this book! It is one I will read again.
I was given a copy of this book from the publisher with the understanding that I would leave a review. I am under no obligation to leave a positive review but am happily doing so. The thoughts and opinions in this review are 100% my own.

Wow! Steinbeck from Susan May Warren hits all the notes: it's explosive and deep but also challenges your ideas of purpose, faith, and future. It's the perfect conclusion to the Minnesota Kingstons series - but I'm really hoping to see this family in future books, because they're awesome.

I love Steinbeck. He’s a major character because he’s been integral in the other books, too. His plotline has been building through each and crescendos in Steinbeck, which perfectly pairs with how he lays everything on the line for his family and for Phoenix.

Can it get any better than a cute, brilliant guy who would do anything to save his love – and the world? Only that she’s a match. Steinbeck and Phoenix are here to untangle the national security threat that faces the US and to save a bunch of lives along the way, and of course while they’re doing that, they’re learning deeper lessons about purpose, faith, and trust. I’m here for it all.

Steinbeck is definitely a fall must-read if you’re a fan of hunky action stories, but it could be a springboard to more. It’s always hard to leave great characters behind, but bring us more in this world, please. Tell us about Nim, more about Luka’s family, and keep going with Steinbeck and Phoenix, because I’m pretty sure the world isn’t totally done in terms of rescue needs. Unfortunately, the villains keep popping up.

Fortunately for us, Steinbeck and Phoenix are on the job.

WOW! What an ending for this series! It was so full of action that I had a hard time remembering to take a breath. I mean, the action didn’t stop until the VERY end of the book!
I LOVED reading the story of Steinbeck and Phoenix and all that they went through. WOW!
There was non-stop action, lots of drama, crazy stunts to escape being captured, deep moments of looking at life and what it can bring, and OH . . . Swoon-worthy larger-than-life hero moments and romance!
This is one of my favorite books in this whole series, WAIT, that’s not true! I can’t pick a favorite!
Each book has moments where my heart stops and I can’t keep going because it’s intense, but I want to, because I want to know what will happen!
Each book offers profound, inspiring life lessons about faith in God and discovering one's purpose. Each book has sweet, swoon-worthy romance.
However, this one ties together so much of the other books, and we get to see the whole family and the deep love they share for each other. There were also moments when I laughed so hard I cried, and moments when I felt the pains the characters experienced.
This is what makes a WONDERFUL, AMAZING author! One who can bring out all those emotions in a reader while they are reading the story!
Susan May Warren is just that kind of author, and she will forever be one of my favorites!
When I hear she has a new book out, I will climb the highest mountain and forge the deepest valley to get it. (Not like Phoenix when she jumps into a challenge, but you get the picture!)
Every book I've read by Susan May Warren has filled me with numerous thoughts and personal lessons. They are not just words; they are profound, touching, and relatable examples of what God can do in our lives! They flow with wonderful images so vivid that it’s easy to get swept away and believe it’s real.
I'm at a loss for words eloquent enough to convey the depth of emotions and feelings I get each time I pick up one of Susan May Warren's books. In each of her books, I find wonderful life lessons about the love of God, woven in such a way that they are genuine and not artificial or contrived.
Whatever Ms. Warren writes, I'll read because I know I'll be captivated and blessed in a way that is life-changing.
I received this book from the publisher, which did not influence my review in any way; all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Amazing!!!

Have you ever looked so forward to something that then when it finally happens you don’t actually want to step into it because you’re afraid it will end too soon?
That was how I felt about Steinbeck! His story with Phoenix captivated me from the minute it started in Jack’s story. I couldn’t wait for the next book to come out. (I also couldn’t believe that Steinbeck was going to be the very last book in the series! Seriously?) But, I hung on to every crumb that was given throughout all the rest of the stories, their chemistry and intrigue, building with each consecutive book that came out.
And then it happened.
Susan May released Steinback early!!!!
Of course, I’d already pre-ordered so there he was! He was in my Book Funnel & ready to download!!! I was so excited until ….life happened 😱 and suddenly I was unable to get to my long awaited and greatly appreciated read 💔😩🥺
I was in agony with anticipation but I didn’t want to rush this moment, I wanted to enjoy every page!
Then the day finally came and I couldn’t put it down!
It was everything I had hoped for and more. It was faith, romance, fear, chemistry, family, love, loss, surrender, action and joy, all wrapped up beautifully with a very attractive cover!
It brought so many of my favorite characters back (which Susie does because WE LOVE IT!! P.S. I’m still waiting for Roy’s story 😉) and it had me in anticipation with each turn of the page!
I’m always amazed how each of Susan Mays stories also carries with them deep spiritual insight. She’s never afraid to touch on the deeply personal struggles of the heart of man before God. This is actually what I love the most about Susan May Warren stories! She often answers the heart cry, the big questions, the internal battle that wages in the hearts of so many. It’s just as powerfully woven into the fabric of each story as … Alan Martin is😜!
This story has it all!
It’s a must read! And reread 😆🤣😆 (believe me, you’ll want to read more than once 😉)

I’m so excited for the next episode to come and I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of The Kingstons Family ♥️

"Stand back and see what I will do."

I have loved this journey with the Minnesota Kingstons. The six siblings are all fantastic and this last book in the series brought all of them home and tied up some loose ends in the family. Alas, the ending still leaves room for the story arc that has been coursing through several series to continue on some more. I absolutely adored alpha male Steinbeck who protects and shows up no matter what. I had thought his oldest brother Jack and his younger brothers Doyle and Conrad were alphas but Stein outshines them all. Emberly, as a highly trained international "thief", added spark, grit, stubbornness and loads of action to the plot. Their banter was absolutely fantastic and their romance was delightful. The entire Kingston family under one roof was a treasure in itself; the siblings' easy-going camaraderie and fierce love for each other touched my heart. There is plenty of action, maybe more so than any other book in the series. I guess that's what you get when you put a former SEAL and a Black Swan together to fight international crime and thwart a world war. There is also a good dose of spiritual truths embedded in all the family's conversations. "Faith is the only way out of the chaos of this world" struck me to the core.
I also loved seeing the Alaskan Kingstons cousins, the Minnesota Marshalls, the Caleb Group, and those from Alaska Air One Rescue team pitch in and help bring down the villains. I still want a story about Roy though (I hope one is in the works...).

If you enjoy high-octane romantic suspense, this book is it! I received a complimentary copy courtesy of SDG Publishing and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

Steinbeck by Susan May Warren is a thrilling story that finally brings some closure to the whole Black Swans story that has been floating in and out of a couple of series now, if my memory serves me right. Readers will love all the action that takes place. Warren does a wonderful job at keeping the plot moving and guessing who the actual bad person is. However, on the side, romance is a little too much for me at times. I kept seeing Steinbeck and Phoenix like each other, then not like each other. Then question what they are doing. Run away from each. Then run toward each other. It was annoying at times. I get not being sure about yourself, so it is hard to allow others into your heart too, even God, but it bothered me. As a reader, I could totally understand Phoenix’s questions about God. I really enjoyed the moment where she actually sat down and reflected on why she should allow God into her life, but then Warren had some dramatic moment happen, and she hustled off to answer that call, but readers will not see if she fully grasp the God moment and accepts him or not. If readers are familiar with the other characters in this series, they will see several of them come back and make appearances and be sounding board for Steinbecks and Phoenix’s questions. Overall, Steinbeck by Susan May Warren is a thrilling, yet satisfying ending to a question that has been moving through a number of stories, but the romance was a little over the top for me.

I received a complimentary copy of Steinbeck by Susan May Warren from Sunrise Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

And just like that, another incredible SMW series comes to a close!

I hate saying goodbye to any book charactet I've enjoyed. BUT the best part about Susan's novels is that you never really say goodbye to ANY of her characters. And I am confident that the Minnesota Kingstons will be no exception.

In fact, one of the BEST parts about this heart stopping, never ending twists of a novel was ALL of the past characters that kept showing up! Some of my favorites from Air One Rescue, Montana Marshalls, Sky King Ranch, and even Montana Rescue! It was so cool to see them again and get updates on some of my favorite couples!

Now, let's get to Steinbeck & Emberly/Phoenix. Man, these two were a rollercoaster themselves! And I was completely invested in going along for the ride. The push and pull of their relationship, the will they, won't they, was just as frustrating to me as it was to them and those around them. But I also have to say, it made the happily ever after much sweeter when these two finally got there.

Overall, Susan has, of course, delivered another masterpiece and I cannot wait for the next adventure she'll take me on!

An action and truth filled conclusion to the series!
I know this series is titled the Kingstons, but imo it is the Steinbeck series!😆
I have loved the glimpses of Stein through each book, his backstory is compelling and his inner thoughts have been my favorite out of the whole family.
Him and Emberly's story was filled with on page chemestry, mystery, and banter which is a great example of characters that just fit together ❤️.
With twists and high stakes the reader is taken on an adventure where SMW fans are treated to cameos from former series (which I LOVE).
I think what I loved the most was the truth bombs that have the power to touch the heart of our desire to be known and valued. SMW once again weaves in those truths and points them to THE ONE who our souls truly long for.
I recieved a complementary copy of this book from the publisher, all thoughts and opinions are honest and completely my own.

Wow! Steinbeck proved to be quite the explosive ending to the Minnesota Kingstons series! Stein and Emberly's story has been teased since the very first book of the series, and even still, it did not disappoint. The entire book is non-stop action, and just when you think you can breathe for a minute, something else explodes—sometimes literally. I love when old friends pop in for a visit, to lend a hand in the current mission, and we have several cameos in this book. So fun! As an added bonus, the entire Kingston family comes together throughout the book. While I wanted to shake Jack for much of the book, that made his and Harper's happily ever after all the sweeter.

Steinbeck and Emberly are sweet together; I love the he-falls-first situation as he tries to keep her safe, a mission that proves difficult. I'm not ready to say goodbye to the Minnesota Kingstons. Hopefully, they'll show up again soon in another new Susan May Warren adventure.

Steinbeck Kingston is swoon-worthy throughout his self titled installment of the Minnesota Kingstons series. He shows up. He takes out the bad guys. He encourages faith. He's imperfectly perfect for Emberly Hart.

There is so much I love about this story, this family, this series. I love the action, the mystery, the relationships. I thoroughly enjoy how Warren interweaves characters from past novels to keep them alive and give glimpses in to their "lives" beyond the end of their own series. So even the "end" isn't always "the end". I can't wait to see where this family resurfaces in books to come.

In case you wondered, in true Susan May Warren fashion, this series finale keeps you guessing even until the end.

If you're a fan and you haven't read this one yet, what are you waiting for? If you're new to SMW Fiction grab up this series and dive in!

You know you have a brilliant author when a series ends and you feel like you've lost your whole family!
This is só much more than just another story! The suspense grips you from page 1 and do not let up until the end. Family ties, romance, intrigue, high speed drama, exotic locations, this book tick all the boxes and more!
Steinbeck and Emberly has a ginormous challenge in front of them. Will they be able to stay alive and keep each other out of harms way? Luckily the family is there to help navigate this dangerous waters!
But Susan May Warren dispersed some precious faith nuggets through out the book! You read it, and then it slams you! Wait what?? Go back and read again and let it just soak in. This is a blessing in abundance! I cannot remember when last I enjoyed a book so much!!

Wow, what an ending to this series! This last book ties everything together so well—questions get answered, loose ends are wrapped up, and it left me feeling both satisfied and wishing there was still more to read.

Emberly and Steinbeck’s story has everything I love in romantic suspense: edge-of-your-seat danger, heart-pounding action, and just the right amount of emotional depth. Their second-chance romance felt real and raw, and I loved watching Emberly finally learn what it means to trust and belong.

The mix of high-stakes suspense and found family moments made me tear up more than once, and the faith element was woven in so naturally—it gave the story so much hope and heart.

This series finale is the perfect blend of pulse-pounding and heartwarming. If you love romantic suspense with redemption, loyalty, and love worth fighting for, this one will leave you cheering.

Three years ago, Navy SEAL Steinbeck Kingston encountered Black Swan Emberly "Phoenix" Hart on a mission in Poland. Their meeting cost him his career. Despite her betrayal and a lack of trust, Stein and Emberly meet again and continue their globe-trotting adventures to try to thwart an international crime.

Steinbeck is the fifth and final book in Susan May Warren's The Minnesota Kingstons series. Steinbeck and Emberly's story began in Book 1, and now they finally get their own romance. I enjoyed that the author included a host of previous characters. I liked how an update of their home lives was also mentioned. A sneak peek into the next series takes us back to Alaska, which I look forward to.

I received a free Kindle copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review.

I love the story, don't get me wrong but I am done with Alan Martin the villain, he should have been caught a long time ago. If this was a TV series I would have stopped watching it because of him. Steinbeck and Emberly/Phoenix are my two favorite characters from this series. I like how they feel like they can only depend on themselves but realize God has a bigger plan/mission for them and that is to trust Him and to rely on each other, they are stronger together. Once again there is plenty of action, suspense, mystery, a strong faith element and romance. And another surprise visit from Judah, I love how he pops in just when someone needs him.

In this, the final installment of The Minnesota Kingstons series, we finally get the Steinbeck and Phoenix’s story which has been hovering at the edges of the prior books. Warren is a gifted writer. In Steinbeck, as well as her other books, her descriptions are clear and detailed enough to pull me into the setting without overwhelming me. Her characters are well developed with the reader rooting for Steinbeck and Phoenix as well as secondary characters whose romantic story arcs were brought to fruition here. As always, there is a lot of suspense. Great pacing, great action, and sweet, clean romance. Another fun read from Warren.

It wasn’t my favorite and I had such high hopes for phoenix and Steinbeck, as well as the wrap up of a plot line that has spanned several series. The wrap up was so underwhelming and happened within a few pages. But then again, it didn’t really wrap up. Some are still on the run and the mastermind is still not caught.

Also, on the human relationships, the chemistry between phoenix and Steinbeck was lacking. Fireworks were mentioned, but not really experienced. Also Jack and Harper’s drama and miscommunication were unnecessary to the entire story, and then again, wrapped up with a few words.

Wowzers! What an ending to the series! Warren continues to deliver excellent action and faith packed stories that keep you on your toes and reading way past bedtime. Dive in for Stein & Emberly’s story as they learn to look for God’s mission and their identity in Him, while doing their part to save the world and the ones they love. Lots of stories wrap up and some are still on the go… which means there’s another series around the corner. Thanks for another great book and series, Susan May Warren!

Incredible

As always, Susie’s books are incredible. Riveting, full of intrigue, always keep you on the edge of your seat. This was a great ending to the Minnesota Kingstons, and yet it didn’t end, really. You can tell the story will continue and as always, I want more! I love all the characters in the series, and I really enjoy having former characters show up to help. I just about lost it with Jack and Harper’s blip in the middle of this story but was relieved to see them get their happy ending after all. Can’t wait for the next book.

Another thrilling ride with Susan May Warren! Steinbeck Kingston and Emberly "Phoenix" from the Black Swans have a past but they keep being thrown together. I have loved all of the Kingstons including Steinbeck who tends to keep to himself! Some (maybe all) of the AI technology and Russian mafia were above my knowledge but I still enjoyed this exciting book! I recommend Steinbeck as well as the rest of The Minnesota Kingstons series! I received a complimentary e-book from Sunrise Publishing. This is my honest opinion.

Did not disappoint. Nope. Not at all.

Did not disappoint. Nope. Not at all. I had to remind myself to breathe, frequently. I love the way Susie weaves all the story lines through all the books. Stein and Phoenix's story started in book one and emerged through all the books, yet there was still so much to experience in this book. I loved all the cameos from the other series. And bringing this series full circle with Jack and Harper trying to secure their HEA. Phoenix is my favorite kind of heroine. Strong, stubborn, smart and a bit broken. Stein is just the best.

Such a great finale to the series. I loved Stein throughout each of the books and was really intrigued by his ‘relationship’ with Phoenix. This book was full of adventure and suspense …and of course, romance! I love how it was very unpredictable, both in regards to the relationship and just knowing what type of situation would arise next and the way the characters respond! That’s one of my favorite things about the way Susan May Warren writes! She’s so creative and unpredictable!

A fitting finale to the series!

While we know these characters will return in future stories, we say goodbye for now. I enjoyed seeing these two dance around their feelings for each other while dodging danger at every turn. They had to learn to work together while trusting God to guide their steps. Quite a few familiar faces made an appearance, there were twists and surprises, and a clean but sizzling romance to top it all off.
