The summer of 2008 Andie Stackhouse's deadly nemesis returns
Detective Stackhouse is working a recon operation when disaster strikes. A gun goes off. An innocent man is shot. Even though Stackhouse was on the scene, she doesn't know who pulled the trigger.
Guilt-stricken, Stackhouse vows to solve the attempted homicide. But as she digs in, she finds a larger nightmare, of a family falling to pieces, of missing children and sunken bodies, of poison and jailhouse murders and revenge.
Yet even while she assembles the clues, the infamous Roanoke River Killer closes in for the kill...
Not only gorgeous, but a great cop and friend. I really like these books. I have already read the latest ones and most if not all the earlier ones, but it’s fun to go back and reread the whole series. There was so much to them. Great characters, interesting plots that keep you guessing, with enough action to hold your attention. While I really like detective Rowe, he not long term for Stackhouse.
Wow! the action in this book leaves you turning the pages fast
Andie is searching for a serial killer that is looking for her. Trying to stay to 2 steps ahead and accepting help is hard. She is amazing putting the pieces together. But accepting help seems harder, not putting others in danger. She is one bad a** woman. Loved this book have read all of these books. They are funny and I really can’t put them down. Love this Author.
I’ve read all of Mr. Lee’s books and this one I couldn’t put down! I like his writing so much, I even read the excerpt at the end, of an earlier book of his I’d already read! Kill Society gives a better look at Sheriff Stackhouse’s earlier career. Read them all, they are fabulous!
Enjoyed the book as much as Mackenzie August and Manny series. All great reads. Cannot put down. Lots of twists and turns. Can’t wait till next in any of these series come out.
I wait for Alan Lee's next novel like I haven't eaten all day and I'm impatiently waiting for the next meal. And,as always, this one didn't disappoint!
I’ve never, ever been even close to disappointed with any of Alan Lee’s book. All three series are intense, and full of great repartee. You simply can’t go wrong. He’s my favorite writer for the next twenty years….
As for Kill Society, a truly good read. A great plot that all comes together. Enjoy it.
This is book 4 in the story of Andie Stackhouse, one of the interesting characters in the very readable Mackenzie August series. I've been waiting for the next in the Mackenzie or the charismatic Marshall Manny Martinez (Sinatra) series - the other interesting character, but Stackhouse's story is great reading. Alan Lee has written a female lead who is charismatic, beautiful and sexy, which makes her a media star - all of which interests her not in the least. joining the Roanoke, Virginia police academy at least a decade older than the other recruits. Her intelligence, courage and tenacity have solved a record number of crimes, but also caused her to suffer more violent situations than anyone should - and survive intact, at least in the surface. In book one, Stackhouse comes up against a sociopathic serial killer. Having fixated on Andie whilst in prison she has escaped and is surreptitiously invading her life, while continuing her interrupted killing spree. The characters in all of these series are very real and their situations easy to slip into. This author draws the reader in and doesn't let go until the last word. At the end of this book however, the hatred of the jealous police Chief, who desires to be a well known and respected man and the media star that Stackhouse is, takes a sinister turn that has me impatient for the next episode!
Alan Lee has evolved into a major author. It’s been a pleasure to follow his journey. While his early works were engaging and entertaining, they were primarily linear while Kill Society is a complex, multilevel novel. It’s a harbinger of even greater things to come.
An amazing imagination Alan. I’ve read nothing but Stackhouse , Austin and Manny for the last month or so. Couple of typos ?? Woo. Or Wood. ?? Doesn’t change my enjoyment tho ! Love the writing style. And Characters and I don’t know how you come up with such complex story lines. Always a little more when you think it’s over. ( ie. When Jane comes to life with a pistol ).

Im new to Alan Lee. I'm glad I came across this series. It is very well written, pulls you in, and you can't stop reading, starting the next book immediately. Don't want to spoil so I won't go into details- just read the first chapter of book one, and you'll be hooked. Excellent story line, fast paced, with twist you wouldn't expect
I really like mystery novels and especially ones that you just cannot put down. Andie Stackhouse is such an interesting character. Hopefully her character will come again in a few more books. Highly recommend to anyone that enjoys a good mystery.
Longest of the stackhouse books. She’s a great character and I look forward to #5. This one was drawn out, lots of action some not believable but exciting. As a Ed McBain fan, I can see her and Carella in a 87th precinct novel. Mr Lee is exceptional.
Andi Stackhouse is a detective with the Roanoke City police department currently working homicide and other cases. On a previous case she captured the psychopathic killer Jane Newton. A great story.
OMG! THIS HAD SO MANY WTF MOMENTS, THEY JUST KEPT ON COMING. ANDIE MOST OF THE TIME IS SO SUPER SMART BUT OTHER TIMES SHE CAN BE SUPER DUMB.READING THIS WAS LIKE RIDING A SEE-SAW. BUT ALL OF MR. LEE'S BOOKS ARE LIKE THAT FOR ME. YAY! ;D
Of the four books so far, this has been my favorite. Wrapping Jane up nicely with a believable story with a perfect twist. I found myself up at 3am, eyes bleary, not wanting to put this book down. I can’t wait for the next book!!!
I enjoyed the fast pace action, didn’t want to put it down. The only disappointment was that it was obvious Pete was poisoned too from the beginning. Overall loved the book as always.

Great book! Alan is a great author and I love all his characters. I just wish Kix would age a little faster. I can visualize Kix talking smack to his dad.
This was the best yet. I enjoyed the other 3 books, but this one was awesome. I enjoyed all the unexpected twists and turns. I literally laughed out loud at one time.
Love this series. Stackhouse will be my go to every time I need something to read or to get me out of a book slump. This one was fun with the connecting crimes and a setting just a bit beyond Roanoke city.
