Wicked men stole the boy she loved. But when she found him again, he'd become more wicked than them all. Malin Strom has been searching for Kase, her childhood sweetheart, since he was lost at the annual masquerade years ago.
With her gift for stealing memories, Malin crosses more than one dangerous line to take secrets from those who know what goes on behind the curtain of the wicked festival.
But when her brother is traded into the masquerade as punishment for using magic to hide Malin’s gift, her only chance to save him is to enlist the services of a brutal crook—the Nightrender—and he bears a striking resemblance to a face from the past.
No longer the boy she knew, her lost love, Kase, now rules as the amoral leader of brutal thieves. Pulled into his world of tricks and schemes, tantalizing attraction returns, but so do the secrets behind Kase’s disappearance, and the masquerade.
When their plan to save Malin’s brother takes them back to the dangers of the festival, painful betrayal forces Malin to face a cruel save her brother’s life? Or give up the thief who has always held her heart. Filled with luscious world building, spicy romance, and epic battles, this first book in the Eastern Kingdom is part Viking, part fairy tale retelling.
*This omnibus set includes books 4-6 in Te Broken Kingdoms, Night of Masks and Knives, Game of Hate and Lies, Dance of Kings and Thieves. This couple and storyline will interconnect with books 1-3*
I consider myself blessed I'm able to do this for a living. I live for fantasy books as a reader and author. I adore books like An Ember in the Ashes, The Night Angel Trilogy, Harry Potter, The Great Library series...I could go on.
Before I write I have four young humans I keep alive and love them to the stars and back again. I live in Utah with my sexy husband, the kiddos, two paranoid dogs, and a sinister cat. Between finishing a second degree, running a business, and eating too much chocolate, I love writing early in the morning when no one is awake. If you can't tell, I basically function on caffeine.
LJ just writes the most beautiful stories!! The characters are fierce and broken and morally grey! I love each and every one of them!! (Although I think Kase is still my fav!) The way they inspire loyalty and have your back no matter what is so cool! The FMC are sassy and strong on their own with their MMC supporting them every step of the way!! I love seeing that dynamic in books!!
The whole series will suck you in and not let you go!! I'm lucky I found LJ when she released Curse of Shadow and Thorns!!! I will literally read anything she writes!! I can't recommend her books more! They're perfect for those that love romantasy with morally grey characters and strong FMC!!!
I absolutely adore this series. It is beyond spectacular. The fantasy world building is like nothing I've ever experienced. The intricacies of these characters, the way things are woven together, the relationships, the magic, and the lore. The way that LJ writes the lore and stories is so incredibly intelligent. She is brilliant. You definitely need to grab them in the box sets because you won't be able to put them down and will definitely want the next part of the story immediately!
1158 pages later and three books later I finally finished Broken Kingdoms 4-6 and I am SO HAPPY
I loved following Malin and Kase in this set of books! I could not have asked for a better morally grey FMC and MMC. The characters from 1-3 were brought in beautifully, they fit like a glove into the storyline. I knew Elise and Malin would become besties I just knew it! (And thank you LJ Andrews for letting Elise fight even though she was pregnant , not many authors would do that)
My favorite part? When Kase’s memories were altered and he forgot who he was and forgot who Malin was, YET he was still attracted to her and couldn’t kill her. GENIUS LJ Andrews, just genius.
My favorite character? Kase , yummmmy Kase! Second favorite though is Ari— and when I found out the Ambassador is the main storyline for books 7-9 my heart skipped a beat and I broke a sweat- I need this man’s storyline , ahh!
5 out of 5 Stars- read this series!!!

These books in the series focus in the BEST direction as the direction is focused on Kase and Malin!
Kase we were introduced to in #3 and learn he can wield your worst nightmare! He is now on a quest to help a lad find his father and needs the help of a young girl, Malin. Why is he so invested?
Kase background is nothing short of heartbreaking and devotion! He may be a man of few words; but his loyalty knows no limits, to those he calls family. He will be you best chance or your worst nightmare, depending which side you are on.
Malin is on a quest as well; but when her quest lines up with Kase's they join forces. Malin must now earn the trust of the gang of thieves. She is no damsels in distress; as she too can wield a power. She is able to steal your very thoughts or memories!
These books will leave you breathless as you follow Kase's and Malin's quest!
Another great trilogy in this larger series. Again, I loved being able to easily go to the next book and just keep on reading.
Much like the first trilogy this had a journey of love, fighting for a kingdom, and unlikely rulers. I loved this story and enjoyed how things unfolded, especially a certain character learning how important and powerful loving somehow can be, no matter how scary (a theme of this series for sure). There were a lot of moving pieces at times, but it all worked. I especially loved how events from book one came fuller circle and how everyone came together to fight.
I cannot wait to see what the final trilogy brings as I imagine even more threads from the first three books will again come into play.
Super slow…like molasses in Alaska during winter slow…wordy wordy wordy…too many characters to keep up with…could be why this is so slow moving gotta given each character time on the page. I am at chapter 33 and I am bored to tears with 33 chapters of prep work..we have not even gotten to meat of the story…this story does not have the feel of the first 3 books..at least that story had forward movement and reasonable amount of character names you had to keep up with.
I was so excited for the second trilogy in this series, and I really enjoyed Kase and Malin's story. I felt like the second trilogy seemed to be longer while I was reading it compared to the first, even though I know they were similar in length. I think it felt that way (in a good way) because the story developed so much from the beginning to the end. I'm very excited to see how the dark presence that is hinted at in the 6th book develops in the rest of the series!

I love all her books, but the series inclusive of books 4-6 has been my all time favorite! A common female who finally realizes her true talents and powers makes for an addictive read! I couldn't stop reading until I devoured these tomes in record time!
A seamless transition from books 1-3. Andrews quickly involves you in these characters' lives and makes you forget you were ever invested in anyone else. And just when you've fully released everyone from the Northern Kingdom - BAM! - she ties it all together again.
LJ Andrews is a master of character development and creating worlds/realms. I love that her characters cross over to other series. Definitely recommend this series and well as the Ever Series!!!
it was pure torture to get through book three in this set. it started putting me to sleep at night after reading just a few pages. I’d pick it up here and there every now and then over the course of a full year. since this book has about 500 characters, l do not recommend this approach. bummer.
I love these books so much. I read fast , slow and over and over just so I can soak it in… entranced, loving, laughing, weeping. Every book has been a world to wrap myself in. My apologies to my husband for my neglect. lol. Thank J.L. Andrews for your tireless dedication and sharing of your gifts. You have earned our admiration.
This is my favourite trilogy in the whole Broken Kingdoms series. I love the world and how we get more and more of the history, and these characters are my favourites. The romance and yearning is beautiful, with more and more spice the further you get. Lots of action and sneaking around.
