Written in the Skies

As a decorated Air Force pilot, my father instilled in me a sense of duty and honor. He served his country just like his father before him, but unlike his father before him, his service cost him his life and took him away from me too soon. However, he left me pieces of him through his journal of life lessons, which he wrote just for me.

My dreams were to fly jets and, later, commercial airplanes. As a black female officer, I was on track to be the best pilot the military had ever seen until I met an alluring stranger.

My goals took a detour, but I fought for my way back. The only problem is I can’t forget those vivid blue eyes, so damn blue they rival the bluest sky.
-----

I was born into a life of wealth and privilege, destined to inherit a multi-billion-dollar company specializing in military-grade technology and training simulators. The world I came from was all about labels, from your Ivy League education to the designer shoes you wear.

My grandfather labeled me a genius who could run circles around his son, the company's current CEO. However, my father had a different label for an entitled brat. He needed me, but I wanted nothing to do with Forge Industries because of the painful memories that eventually cost my grandfather his life.

The thrill of controlling an aircraft soaring at 36,000 feet in the air was all I wanted to feel in this dark world until I met her. The only label she should have was a warning label. It should have cautioned me that I couldn’t have her for just one night; I would want her for a lifetime.

I thought I was in for another DNF at first because Justin is the typical obnoxious billionaire with access to any and everything 🙄 and Charliz reciting proverbs felt corny. Then the book went on to make Charliz more likable during her slow burn with what she understood to be a fling with Justin/Henry. The proverb citing even had a bittersweet story behind it. Charliz's ambitions, her rivalry and relationships with her friends, superiors and co-workers, and Justin's passion for her made Charliz the most fascinating fictional character I had read in a long time in the bwwm romance genre. I'm definantly looking forward to continuing the story in the next book. My only complaint is that I'm still trying to warm up to Justin and care about his problems with his own family drama.

Tear Jerkingly Beautiful

This was perhaps the most beautiful story I have ever read. This was my first time reading a book by this author, but it was the most beautiful story ever. I cannot wait to begin book 2. I highly recommend this story, because Henry and Darling a.k.a Justin and Charlie had the most hard touching story. I also loved to read about Charlie’s love for her grandmother and grandfather, and the stories that her grandfather left for her in his book. I cannot wait to read book 2 and see how it all ends. This book kept me crying because it was so heart touching and truly a beautiful read.

👍

I read book 2 before book, not sure why since I had « Written In The Skies » in my library… By the way, book two is awesome, loved it.
Charlie is one heck of a woman, raised by an incredible father and grandmother. The scene about her and her Nana at the hospital made me cried.
I wish that « Henry «  & Charlie didn’t loose so many years, I wonder which lesson is it in the 101 book of lessons.
DJ Gunn , the 101 lessons need to be published !!
Ok folks, all I can tell you it was a great read !!

I my goodness

This was a slow burn and when I couldn’t take it anymore it exploded with action but then slowed. I don’t like that there is a continuation that is not readily available. I need to know the rest of Charlie’s story.

A nice read

Quite a few punctuation errors, but it did not take away from the story. I wished it had needed differently but Charles and Justin found each other after several long years.

This book has me gripped and intrigued from the start. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and the first that’s about aviation. She did a wonderful job. I am head over heels for these characters. I’m hooked. 10/10 will constantly recommend!! 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾😍

Loved a romance story with real plot

This secret is a secret identity story that centers around mostly plot and romance. The spice was spicey but you'll get more than that. I can't wait to see where it picks up.
