This is such an awesome book! Every primary school teacher should get a copy and read it to their class right now!

Here's what I love about this. The Shadow World speaks to kids normally about how to stay safe online without the narrator sounding lame or condescending. It doesn't tell kids 'Don't do this! Don't do that!' Instead it actually says - Hey, we know you're going to go online so here's some safe ways to go about it.

Some of the topics covered are- viruses, online gaming, passwords, social media, cyberbullying, location use, webcams, security, smart devices, The Dark Web, clicking on links, online shopping, making mistakes, mental health and having a career in cybersecurity.

There are some 'real world' scenarios which are easy for kids to relate to and understand with questions and reflections for them to discuss along the way. These reflections make it super easy for the kids to actually make a real connection to the text and link in their own thoughts and ideas.

The Shadow World comes complete with some extra cool illustrations and a glossary of terms. The main reminder is to always tell a trusted adult and to not keep anything dodgy that happens online a secret. Some great advice for kids.

Highly recommend this one! I am going to contact all my primary school teacher friends and tell them how fabulous this is!

Five stars!

Thank -you Shawline Publishing for sending me this copy to read and review.

Bought it for my daughter and we are both very impressed! Great artwork as well as the book itself. She is a 9 year old avid internet user, and i do worry about what she gets up to and the choices she makes. We limit her access and have cyber security overlays on her devices - but we are not too clued up on cyber security so it was always a worry.
This book has been great to get conversation flowing that i didnt really know how to start up, and it has definitely taught her some worthwhile lessons on things to look out for and "shadowy corners" of the internet to be cautious of! I recommend this book.

Another great book by Craig, this includes sensitive data, personally identifiable information (PII), protected health information (PHI), personal information, intellectual property, data, and governmental or school and industry information systems. Our identities are increasingly online. From credit agencies to our workplaces and to the social media networks that we use every day, we are living online
