This is really great. A fantastic cast of characters. I do hope we get more focused character moments but I trust Mark Waid to get there in the end

Really fun start to the Justice League main series. Having them work as sectors is a great idea. Also the main villain should be fun.

It’s alright, nothing impressive. I mean, World’s Finest started off underwhelming too but got really good later on. This could be the case here as well but not a title for the pull list. I’ll wait for a collected edition.

An interesting retelling of the Justice League unlimited.

Rather than the Youth version done previously. This is done at an adult level. I don't mean "dirty adult" level I mean mentally and emotionally and at the adult level.

All the DC superheroes combin and form one superhero entity. The various superhero teams mix and match as the need arises.

This is such a cool idea of how to do the Justice League. I'm sure it won't last forever, but for now, the fact that Star Sapphire, Air Wave, and Black Lightning can work alongside the big 3 as teammates at a moment's notice is super fun. I do think they downplayed Carol's experience a bit - she may not be a superhero on the regular, but she's seen her fair share of battle and destruction. Nitpick, though. I hope this new status quo gets to build and flourish moving forward.

THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT, such a good issue! And Mora’s art is perfection!! The Justice league is back and bigger than ever across their watchtower, and who better to get introduced to it than a super obscure character we’ve never heard of! Welcome to the base: air wave. He has the power to control and transform into electromagnetic waves. Immediately when he arrives we see the watchtower in action, as Aquaman, sand, and tutara are running to deal with the marine marauder. The challengers are running to help blue beetle with a central power core issue. Stargirl and captain are off to follow up with leads on captain steel, and damage’s powers going missing after absolute power. All of this goes to show much of a well oiled machine the new Justice league is, as red tornado (currently without a body) directs everyone.

And who better to give a quick tour through the chaos than flash! As he hilariously grabs air wave and speeds him through the watchtower. Although air wave’s outfit looks similar to the flash, they couldn’t be anymore different. We get a quick look at the different meeting places and living quarters for different teams. Such as the Justice society in the golden room. They speed past head of security: the question. We get a look at the atom project. Lead by Ryan Choi and Ray Palmer, they have been working on ways to locate and restore powers lost after crisis. But the tour is cut short by air wave needing to hurl and giant war wheels being deployed in South Africa. We actually saw this at the start of the issue, as the heavy hitters were called in. Superman, Wonder Woman, black lighting, kid flash, firestorm, and a very new to being a hero: star sapphire. Luckily black lighting is there as a teacher to help guide her.

But boots on the ground among this beautiful art, what’s happening!? Turns out an organization called inferno is looking to show power for this mining town which provides much of the world’s iridium. If they succeed, they would control the global electronics supply. So while Wonder Woman, Superman, and firestorm go ham on the war wheels, everyone else is on civilian duty. Air wave also gets his first experience being held back, he looks on and wants to help desperately, but red tornado does not see a current need for his abilities and he would only hold everyone else back.

Meanwhile another mystery is brewing as Batman and blue beetle have been deployed to Costa Rica. As the locals explain a giant winged creature has been carrying their children away into the forest. But our heroes confusion is truly brought forward when they are. Right to the forest and see how much it had changed. They are going to need some major help, and they aren’t even sure why. It’s like a scene out of alien with all of the eggs!

Back in South Africa, star sapphire is facing her first hardships when it comes to prioritizing safety, as she came across a soldier on the brink of death and desperately wants to help him. Black lightning and red tornado both agree he won’t make it, but there is a slight chance. He is calling out for his wife, and star sapphire has a special ability for lovers when they are in close proximity she can heal them using their love. But how could they find her. Watching on, our hero air wave sees his chance to help. He gets himself down there, then using his control of electromagnetic signals, he communicates through all the cellular devices in the area to find his wife. Once found kid flash is able to speed her over and star is able to use their close proximity and love to heal the man! It’s a really cool moment, and is only ruined by the next few scenes. As Superman and Wonder Woman finish up with the war wheels, a message from the hooded mysterious group called inferno is left. They Tom use they are not done until everyone is under their power, of course Superman promises the Justice league is the largest most power force for good in the universe, but they claim the world and the league already belongs to inferno…we just don’t know it yet.

We get back to the base with a couple wounds and a lot of pats on the back for good work. Air wave is on a total adrenaline rush and they send him off for some RNR with a big welcome to the league! So everything we’ve experienced just makes it 10x worse when air wave gets back to his cabin and breaks down. They are so nice…it’s a shame he is there to kill them all. QUESTION, HE’S RIGHT HERE. I guess that solves the question mini series lol. It would even explain why in that series there was the robotic suit being controlled externally, it was this guy. Case closed. Only slightly kidding, but dang I was liking this obscure character. What the heck man.

We also got a sneak peak at the upcoming hush 2 storyline, seems that hush has a slightly different look, a lot of yarn to connect pictures, and now enjoys playing with cut out dolls. What could go wrong?

I have two reasons to be excited about this title.

First, it uses the Justice League Unlimited branding to evoke a sense of massive scale and some nostalgia for the classic animated series based on the Bruce Timm designs.

Second, it gives Dan Mora and Mark Waid an even larger sandbox to play in. The duo has had success with the Batman/Superman: World's Finest and now they have access to the entirety of the league, past, present, and future. DC sure hopes they can jumpstart and long dormant Justice League title.

This is a strong first issue. However, I'm not familiar with the characters that Waid has highlighted. A case should be made for this book to focus on the big 7 again, just as it did on Grant Morrison's JLA.

Anyway, I defer judgement on continuing with this title until I have read more. I really want this book to succeed, it has Dan Mora art in it after all.

I loved being introduced to the Justice Unlimited team by being through the POV of a new member, Air Wave. He’s quickly given orientation by the Flash and gets ran around the whole watchtower. Although it rushes the exposition for the team members, we don’t really need to know who’s here and who’s not. This issue was clearly made for the story’s exposition.

The middle of the issue felt chaotic and a little underwhelming. I enjoyed learning about this universe through Air Wave’s perspective, but it all comes back together when they need him in a mission.

I wish they could have gave some of the characters like Black Lightning, Star Sapphire, Batman, and Blue Beetle some character moments, but I’m happy with what I was given. Especially since Air Wave is a supposed bad guy. What a cliffhanger

Good art, good story. I was unsure about Airwave in the beginning, but his character really came through for me. I wonder if he'll be able to fulfill the secret reason he's there. As for the new secret society, well I wasn't really that impressed. They felt too familiar with all the other secret societies.

Excellent kick off of a new era!!

Fast paced kick off to the new Justice League -- very reminiscent of its name sake animated series (which I'm sure was the point). I've been anticipating this book since I saw its preview and I was not disappointed. Looking forward to this being a cornerstone DC book!

Art was pretty great with some interesting new baddies introduced.

I will be honest, I am not at all up to date with current DC stuff. The main reason I picked this up was for the four page prelude to H2SH!

Story was catching enough that I will definitely check out the trade when it hits shelves.

I will be one of the first in line for issue 158 of Batman though! So pumped!

This was fun! An action-packed intro that had a good balance of exposition and entertainment. I think some of the dialogue and events were a little too on-the-nose, but overall it was entertaining and has me interested in what’s to come. This issue alone set-up at least three different plots/subplots for now so there’s plenty to look forward to.

Justice League Unlimited (2024-) #1

Justice League Unlimited (2024-) #1 started
off with plenty of action. however the storyline is all
over the place, but in time everything should be clear.
The artwork was fantastic. You need a roster to keep
up with the characters. Definitely looking forward to next issue.

Fun kick off. Lots of action. Lots of excellent Dan Mora art (honestly the only reason I pulled this title and not sorry for it). Ever since I saw Wonder Woman as a Star Sapphire, I've been interested in that character, so it's really cool to see Carol here.

Great start! I'm so intrigued to see where the plot goes. I loved being introduced to some new characters while also getting appearances from classic characters. Dan Mora's art is spectacular as always. I love the way he draws Blue Beetle.

it all felt rushed. there wasn't enough development with Air Wave for me to care what happened with him.

and for Mr Terrific to deduce that it couldn't be the Legon of Doom... and yet it was? why? how? Just felt like poor storytelling.

This was a lot of fun.
Resd it.
Not Mora's best outing but he's working a lot. I'm hoping that he's only on this and superman now so his art can return to stellar.

Meh. Has Justice League name and heroes but the story was too crowded and the sleeper cell element at the ending is about as exciting as it gets - which is to say lukewarm. 3/5.
