An Erotic Tale

Jessica Sinclair has spent the last year tiptoeing around her new boss Lucas Wright. She wants him and he knows it, but she has no intention of giving into temptation. She’s always enjoyed a little pain with her pleasure, but she never thought denial could feel so good. Every meeting drives her to a sexual edge and yet they’ve never shared a simple kiss. Resisting him has become a delicious game.

Lucas Wright has enjoyed playing the waiting game with Jessica. The sadist in him enjoys every quip and parry they share. But every man has his limits and he’s officially reached his. He’d never thought that he would find his perfect match in a woman as stubborn as Jessica, but every teasing encounter has convinced him it’s time to put an end to their games and show her just how sweet surrender can be.

Laurel is a romance author, who like most writers loves to read. She has no one favorite genre to read because she believes "a good story is a good story" regardless of what genre it's published under. However, her first love (pun intended) is romance. From the sappy romantic chick flick, the sappy YA romance novel to the more risque erotica novels, Laurel is a sucker for a good love story.

Laurel writes paranormal and contemporary romance. She is a self proclaimed, out of the closet nerd, and admits that she can't seem to avoid adding a bit of "nerdology" or "geek-dom" to all of her stories. Living in Miami, she also admits that she can't seem to avoid giving her heroines gorgeous shoes, "In Miami, we worship everything strappy, open toed and just plain hot!"

Quickies were fine and they had their place, but teasing, anticipation and denial...

Rapt was a drawn out foreplay of a story, forever keeping us on the edge, every page bringing us closer and closer to relief. Jessica Sinclair works for Lucas Wright and for months they have played a delicious game of resisting, denial and anticipation; every meeting, every look, the sound of his voice puts her on edge. Lucas senses the matching need in Jessica and makes a play to win her over showing her how real life could be so much better. He isn’t looking for an easy lay, wanting her to surrender her pleasure for him to own. Months in the making have them primed for the first night when they decide to turn their fantasy into reality.

I loved watching you squirm, loved knowing that you sat there with your wet, creaming pussy, and that it was all for me. But most of all I enjoyed denying you that release, of knowing the pain of denial was bringing us both so much pleasure.

This was literally foreplay in black and white, when release finally came, I wanted to go back to playing their game. It was HOT as hell, and the perfect bedtime read.

My Fun Fact: The beauty of reading is you learn something new every day, I’m know to read books that revolve around BDSM, but this was new for me in the sense that I found out that there are different levels of sadism and masochism. I honestly shouldn’t be surprised as there are those who live the lifestyle on various levels but it was interesting to see that sexual denial and prolonging sexual stimulation fall under that label as well.

SULTRY AND SO SEDUCTIVE...

I love this book, though it's short it's long enough to make you blush, hot and bothered. Erotic with a bit of romance, a mouse and cat game played by Lucas Wright and Jessica Sinclair that ended with an unforgettable, titillating, sultriest night ever. It's a tease, the way Lucas and Jessica danced around their undeniable attraction to each other. Each one anticipating their encounter, teasing, testing who is going to give in, who's going to make the first move--and when they did, it was FIREWORKS! Anything nearby will probably explode, the heat so hot, sparks are flying! Read this if you want to be treated to an all night of foreplay, scene so sultry, erotic and mind blowing each one of us would want to have and wish to experience--I know I would! ;)

this review will be separated in 2, a spoiler-free and a full one.
I really wanted to thanks the author for the free e-copy of this book.

I made a decision, each month I'm going to pick one or two books to review. this is one of them.

SPOILER FREE

Jessica Sinclair has spent the last year tip toeing around her new boss Lucas Wright.

If you are searching for a book completly intense, and super hot THAT IS FOR YOU. omg. It could be compared -inevitably- to fifty shades because it's the same kind of book. But, rapt is MORE intense, thanks to the small number of pages. the whole story is concentraded in 8 chapters so you never get bored. sultry enough for you to be jealous of Jessica, and want your own Lucas Wright at home. quick read, give it a try that's fun and utterly hot as hell.

SPOILER ALERT (what you do after isn't my problem)

As always I have my own probs with characters (or it wouldn't be a review wrote by the real me). I know they played this little teasing game for over a year but the "I fell in love" scene... really? I don't know if it's just me but in that kind a book, full of tension, and sex and turn on moments and especially BDSM I'm so NOT on feelings, or later. I kept telling myself it was a joke and Lucas was saying this just to get her into his bed ya know, but according to the end it wasn't so. yeah, only major problem for me.
and then, a little thing, in the first chapter I was disturbed by how fast the author goes from Jess's POV to Lucas', nothing warned us and I was unsettled of what I read before.

ok, now that's your turn to read this quick, great book!
love ya,

Rapt is an interesting book about a subject I know very little about. It is a short erotic romance novella all about denial of sexual release. Apparently this is a thing that some people crave. Some people, like Lucas, love being in control of another person's sexual release. They love being the one to allow, or deny, the sexual release of another. And others, like Jessica, love the sexual frustration that comes with denying oneself pleasure for as long as possible. This is a form of BDSM, but one that does not include whips or chains. It is much more of a mental form of bondage. The two main characters in this novella appear to be perfectly made for each other. Jessica has worked for Lucas about a year now, and the sexual tension between them has only continued to grow throughout the whole time. Although they both feel it, neither one of them has ever acknowledged it out loud. But Lucas has decided that this has to end tonight one way or another. He is determined to bring out into the open what has been bubbling just under the surface. Will Jessica respond the way Lucas hopes? Will she take a chance on him, or will she be offended and walk away from what could be? Tonight Lucas will finally know.On the other hand, Jessica has been secretly lusting after her boss all this time. She has been intentionally avoiding pleasuring herself between meetings with Lucas. One time this resulted in torturing herself for three weeks. Jessica didn't mind though, the delayed pleasure just made it even better when it finally arrived. Is Lucas the man who can finally handle Jessica's need for delayed gratification? The writing is very good, the characters well drawn, and the tension is carefully drawn out. I am not into this kind of delayed gratification, but after reading this book I have a much better understanding of why some people might be. It is a very quick read, but one well worth your time if you want to read a good book about two people who finally give into their basest impulses and decide to take a chance on each other.

Rapt was the first book that I read by Laurel Cremant and it definitely will not be the last. Lucas was Jessica’s boss but you tell from the very beginning that they wanted each other. Jessica didn’t think Lucas knew of her interest in him and she also didn’t think he was interested in her. She was so wrong and Lucas was determined to show her how interested in her he was. I loved it from beginning to end and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Rapt is primarily a story about sexual denial leading up to a culminating explosion. Unfortunately, this short novella was more focused on the leading up to a climax that wasn't as good as I had hoped. Jessica has been in lust with her boss Lucas for a year now. Lucas stars nightly in her fantasies and she eagerly looks forward to her meetings with him. When Lucas admits that he is as into her as she seems to be into him, the pair begin a weird courtship that takes place over the course of exactly one night. Where pleasure is denied until neither one of them can walk straight. The last 10% of the book focuses on the actual pleasure being fulfilled, but with the way the author described the build up, I was expecting more of an explosion, instead of a luke-warm trickle.

My first problem with this story is that it clearly wasn't edited. The use of and instead of an, the use of he instead of him kept popping up throughout the story. My second problem is that the characters were written as being insanely attracted to the other, but I didn't feel it. The writing flowed, and if you can get past the lack of an edit, the story is okay. Is this the best erotic novella I've ever read? No. Is it the worst? No. If you do choose to read this, make sure you pay 99 cents for it, because anything higher is already too high.

I'm not overly into novellas or shorter tales and Rapt by Laurel Cremant is a short, quick and dare I say dirty read? Well, its an adult erotica so I think I'm allowed.

I did have a few issues with this book, taking aside I don't love short stories but it was still enjoyable too. I know I'm sounding a little contradictory, so let me explain.

I didn't really like the dynamics of Jessica and Lucas relationship. Sometimes you read about 2 characters and you just 'get them'. I found Lucas at times more annoying than anything and Jessica I felt wasn't my leading lady. I just felt she should have been wrote differently.

This book is about control and depriving of sexual release. Although BDSM I didn't feel it was hardcore like some I have read and was hot. The sexual scenes were well written and for those who do enjoy erotica I feel will enjoy that aspect.

I just didn't 'feel' Jessica which was my main issue and sometimes think it would have been good to see a role reversal.

I do recommend Rapt though, if you like a hot, dirty, quick read this is definitely for you. I read this in one sitting and would have enjoyed it more if it had of been a longer novel - 3 out of 5 stars from me.

Jessica has been working for Lucas for over a year now and there is heat between the two but they both have no idea that the other one feels it also. Lucas takes matters into his own hands and decides that this game between them has to finally culminate. He is in to BDSM by denied sexual gratification and he thinks Jessica is also. Time to test this theory out.

This book was quick and fun. I loved how each character was out for themselves while thinking of the other. Fantastic twist. The sex scene was hot but not sizzling. It started out as a scorcher and left me luke warm.

The author did a wonderful job at paragraph changes. The transitions were seamless. Made for a much better read. This book needed more meat in it. If it were a novel instead or a teaser novelette it would have been so much better.

This was a small novella and a quick one to read. The author did a good job with the anticipation of the scenes in this book. The real thing that I now think of is there is only one real scene in this whole read. The anticipation is the key and I guess that could make it 3 & 1/2 stars. She did well with the progression of the story and kept your attention through out the book. I wondered where it might lead with these two, but it was worth waiting for...I think!

I received this ARC from the author for my honest review. Thank You, Net Galley.

Netgalley thank you for the ARC... I highly recommend this book

This spicy novella was really a cool refreshing surprise. Jessica the professional yet chocolate actuary hired to review the books of Lucas Wright's acquisitions. They have a professional relationship until he is feed up with their coy game of cat and mouse...

This book is straight forward, it captures you from the very beginning and holds you until the end. I enjoyed the back and forth between Jessica and Lucas. It was from both POVs so i also liked knowing both feelings instead of guessing. The deprivation in this book had me on edge. I almost com-busted i was so damn worked up! You will run into a few errors here and there which is why i rated it 4 stars, regardless i highly recommend this and hope you guys enjoy reading it as well! Also i would like to thank Laurel Cremant for letting me read it for free, i greatly appreciate it.

I have read this author and enjoyed her stories. This was very different to what I am used to from her. It gave me an education in another area of BDSM that I had not heard of before called "Orgasm Denial". The pain/pleasure of denying the woman her release. Jessica and Lucas deny their attractions to each other for a whole year! The story then leads to them admitting how they feel about it each. A quick easy read.

Thanks to netgalley for a free read in exchange for a review, while I wholeheartedly loved the idea in this book, it ended far too soon. This was fabulous, why on earth didn't it flesh out longer. The idea was well written, and I loved the characters. Tying in the portrait wasn't an entirely new idea but it went along with everything else. The story was just getting good.....and then it ended. Overall entertainment was still four stars. I would definitely like to see this go further.

I recieved this novella from netgalley for a honest review.

I enjoyed reading this short, sweet, erotic and BW/WM romance novel. Despite a couple of errors the novel was particularly well written it jumped straight into the storyline. I liked the two main characters they were a good match. Loved the ending very sweet.

Would read more by this author.

A copy was provided by the Netgalley for an honest review.

Rapt did not do it for me. I had a hard time getting into this very short book. I could not wrap my little mind around the fact that being around some guy flips a switch in someone’s head that says “I want to deny myself orgasms”. As far as erotic goes there was not much there, the drawn out story was like her delaying orgasm.

This book was all foreplay! The looks, the banter, the wanting all keep the reader on the edge. We want it to happen, and we keep getting close. Then the characters finally get together and fireworks go off! Hope to read more from the author in the future!
