It’s time to unplug with the Grammy-winning Punch Brothers, fronted by singer-mandolinist Chris Thile, as they bring you a multi-episode musical variety show with dazzling musical guests, like Kacey Musgraves, Jason Isbell, Jon Batiste, Norah Jones, James Taylor, and many more.
We join them in the near future when diminishing resources and extreme weather have ushered in a worldwide effort to ration electricity. America has instituted a weekly “energy curfew” where the power grid goes down completely and we all live electricity-free for 24 hours. The Energy Curfew Music Hour hits the airwaves an hour before the lights go out while the nation tunes in and turns off together before the Dark Day.
Recorded live in front of an audience, revel in the wild and wonderful joy unleashed in these one-night-only performances. Chris Thile and Punch Brothers help you wind down before you power down. Happy Dark Day, y’all.
I wish I read the synopsis of this book. It was a free audible pick of the month; so I took advantage and downloaded it. The cover was cute and colourful and I saw Casey Musgraves is one of the voice actors.
The first chapter I was smiling ear to ear at hearing the instruments. I’ve never read/listened to a musical book before.
A few chapters in and it kept disappointing me and becoming even more boring.
I held out for Casey Musgraves and wasn’t even impressed with her until I heard her song about wake and baking. Great song.
I don’t understand how this “book” made it onto audible or here as a book. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wish I did. I liked the bad news bearers but near the end it lost its amusement. I wish there was more “meat” to the story. It’s all bread.
I feel like this was more of a radio show then an audiobook but I did find it highly entertaining so 4 stars. Not a full five because I don't really think this should be considered an audiobook. There isn't really a plot, just a bunch of people getting together to play music. Overall though, very entertaining.
While this is not an audio book in the traditional sense, it is still entirely enjoyable. Thr Punch Brothers welcome a variety of guests to their show and the conversation and music is phenomenal.
