Fresh off the tragic events at Calamity's End, Alex sets off with a new group to reclaim what was lost.
All he has to handle are a few tiny quests for the Goddess of Love.
Sound easy? It won't be.
Book 2 of this exciting new LitRPG Adventure from Kos Play, author of the System School Series. Join Alex as he rises from zero-to-hero in a new world filled with monsters, a detailed system, magic, power progression, and so much more!
I read book 1 in this series, and wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue with how "okay" the first entry was. After hitting a slump in other books, I figured why not give this a try. Even though book one left a bad taste, I at least knew what to expect. This review is mainly for the first 75 chapters, after that the book takes an annoying nosedive similar to book one. I read the book in its entirety, but it is even more disjointed and rough after that point. The things I enjoyed were the pacing, the amount of constant action, and the narrator. The harem elements are just silly and almost read as satire, but thankfully they aren’t detailed. The last thing I want is sex scenes written by an author, let alone an author who wants to write harem litRPG. The positives make it readable, even if it isn’t something I’d ever have picked up on my own. I suppose that is what book clubs are for however, At least I got something I could mostly finish without feeling tortured. Overall this is just a silly book with lots of silly points. The plot isn’t as well constructed as something I’d normally read, but it makes up for that in the pacing. If you want something silly, mildly offensive, and with a soft magic system then this is a simple read to pick up. If you are looking for a story that makes sense and has a rock-solid plot and useful characters, then definitely avoid this. I’d say it was a useful excursion from what I normally read in this genre, but a pretty poor version of it. The author simply cannot be trusted to tell a full story, and now I feel better letting book 3 stay unread.
The MC is just sooooo dumb and indecisive. Without spoiling, at one point he nearly preaches about how he's not willing to kill anyone (not even a tiny risk to a dungeon) when everyone is seemingly eager to kill him and then one of the supposed closest people to the MC kills a dungeon and not only does he do nothing it's never mentioned. This is just one of many "this must happen for the nonsense plot" events.
Ohhhh what a fun book! Would it be Kos Play's masterpiece? Maybe not. But isn't art in the eye of the beholder? It might not become the book of the century but it is great fun to read and that's all that matters to me!!! The creators only care about the reality game show that they're broadcasting, no matter what Alex and his team are up to, even when they step outside the parameters of the game! And by following the wishes of the goddess of love and saving the townsfolk, was definitely stepping out of bounds... yeah Start Menu deals with an adult theme, but seriously it's as far away from what you'd expect to get, because it's mostly implied which is fine by me! But, first and foremost the book is an action-driven litRPG adventure!
Here's a couple of quotes that amused me:
"I couldn’t help but chuckle thinking about the world’s first brothel dungeon. He could create fun monsters and unique treasure. Adventurers would line up from all over Gaia to delve deep into the depths of that dungeon."
"He sat by a campfire singing a song to the little green stone. “To be a stone,” he crooned. “All alone, with nobody there to hear you moan. I, the bard, will try very hard to you…” He paused, looking up to see us. “What rhymes with hard?” I shrugged. “I don’t know. Being the bard is not my card. But you really should be on your guard, or that baby core may end up scarred… by your horrible singing.”
“The king has left the building.” “Was that an Elvis joke?”
Loved the book, but I can't believe you are only making three books, this world has to continue on, I know you have books still in this universe but still :(. Anyways great series amazing story colorful world really cool system idea love all the characters...... 3 wow that hurts a little man... can't wait for it to come out
This is the second book in a series. It was enjoyable. It is sometimes hard to describe a second book in what appears to be at a minimum, a trilogy. A lot of things in the first book were resolved and new challenges arise.
Did not complete. The first book was pretty juvenile but was interesting enough. This one got boring after a third of the way through, making the immaturity unbearable.
There are now so many characters, that I stopped caring to try and remember who they are. Beware of the spelling and grammatical errors; they are just bad enough that they change the way the sentence works so that I have to stop and figure out what the author actually meant to write.
Author still forgets to change title between feminine and masculine when he uses the ogre titles.
An interesting continuation of the story. Pi is obviously up to something, and is acting major sketchy. New gods to interact with.
Book was enjoyable but there are so many mistakes in it whether it be "defiantly" instead of "definitely", spelling mistakes or formatting. Please hire an editor
