Five years after her mother’s death, Nev has the routine down of juggling high school and housework to maintain a semblance of normalcy for her dad and older brother. Her adopted cousin, Cameron, never one to let her shoulder the burden, often comes over to help her. He’s gotten so used to her company, witnessing her humorous pranks on her brother and watching favorite movies together, that when she begins dating, he becomes protective. Constantly worrying about her safety with the school’s most coveted bad boy, Cameron’s feelings slowly start to turn into something more that wars with his subconscious. When Nev takes a night to let loose, life plants her onto the first step of a harsh reality, one that she hopes to escape with the family’s annual summer trip to Colorado. And Cameron plans to be there to help her along the way, conspiring with the universe to see that her heart never breaks again because, after all, she is his everything, whether she knows it or not. Cameron is soon faced with addressing his complicated feelings and the prospect of letting Nev know his deepest secret.

[Mental issues, suicidal intentions, traumatic event]

I'm so elated that I found this book! I don't remember where I found it, but it was sooo perfect for me🩵. Thank you Kristi for accepting me for this ARC and for adding me to your permanent team too🤗.

Nev and Cameron have the best friendship. They are also cousins, or at lest sort of. Cameron was adopted by Nev's uncle and aunt when he was a baby.

In all this close proximity, Cameron falls for Nev. Like really hard, to the point of no return. But Nev had just been through a traumatic event, which will play with her head a while after it happened. It triggered something in Nev's head and she felt like hurting herself can be the best solution to cope with her feelings and thoughts.

A trip to their vacation house, with the whole family, will entirely change their lives. Nev will deal with her problems, but will learn that she can be jealous for a person she totally neglected. Cameron will find out he isn't the best at hiding his feelings for Nev and even her brother, Brock, who lives in his own world, will figure out that. But maybe that was for better, to have someone in his corner.

The story had a bit of drama, of course, but it was realistic and nothing exaggerated. I liked that everything regarding this story was related on point, with no unnecessary details which would have prolonged the book and would have bored me to death. The action was straightforward and every subject touched was on point: teenage years, bad decisions, young love, deception, trauma, healing.

For me, this book had the perfect ingredients for making it one of my favourites of this year 💕. I can say that it had absolutely no spice, but it had other parts which totally won me over. In attention to the ones who wanna read it, this book contains parts which include mental issues and other traumatic events, which can affect some of you.

Nev is unique, unlike anything else I've read. There are times when it deals with heavy topics, but I still enjoy the journey.

One of the reasons was all the Halloween references. Even though it's not considered a Halloween read, I still felt like I was reading it at the right time. Kristi Ayers is after my own heart with the Sweeney Todd, Halloween, and Nightmare Before Christmas references.

Another thing I really appreciated was the character development that happened throughout. Specifically with Nev's brother Brock. He started off as a lazy, irresponsible, semi loser brother, but his redemption arc is spectacular!! Brock started as my least favorite character, but by the end of the book, I loved him. He grew into an amazing brother and the perfect wingman, who truly cares for Nev and Cam. The full 180 was mind-blowing, but I loved every moment.

I was also able to connect with Nev. She's a story woman who is crazy about both Halloween and Christmas, just like me. It was definitely easy to put yourself into her shoes because she's been through so much. I'm so glad she got her happy ending.

Nev! Man who doesn’t love a strong willed and sassy FMC. She loves her old muscle car and can kick a and take names later

For Nev’s young age she goes through so much. But, is strong and works her way through as life continues to circle her.

The description of the relationships in this book is are so relatable. The banter is on point makes you laugh. However, under the surface there are deep emotions. I was either laughing or crying tears.

Just a reminder this is YA so little spice (just enough for the age group) the book has trigger warnings make sure to read them, but enjoy this book. Beautifully put together.

I really did enjoy this story so much!! Only suggestion is I think there should be a trigger warning page as some of the issues our main FMC Nev has could trigger some of they didn’t know .
I loved the relation ship with Nev and Cameron and the banter between Nev and her brother Brock .
For a YA book that his is a bit heavy with the girls Nev goes through , but they way Cameron helps her through them is great !

ARC reader here! I want to start out by saying thank you to Kristi for giving me the opportunity to be an ARC reader for this book.
I’ll start off by saying, I went in not really knowing anything. It’s not something that I typically would read but I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed all the different characters and character development. The only thing that i wish Is that there was more explanation for one specific character that just disappeared out of nowhere. Other than that, I had a great time reading this book. Please make sure to check those trigger warnings before you do!

I'm honored to be the first reviewer! I've been a fan of Kristi Ayers since I read her debut novel, One Petal Flower. I knew I'd never be disappointed when it came time to dig into any of her future work, and I was most definitely not when I finished Nev! A completely different element than her first paranormal story, Nev tells the realistic tale of a typical, yet feisty young lady dealing with atypical life situations. First, she has an adopted cousin who grapples with his feelings for her, to which comes as a pleasant surprise for Nev, especially because of the delicate circumstances. But those circumstances are certainly not what she imagines. She finds herself questioning her own feelings, feelings she perhaps might have buried deep.

Another issue comes along which nearly breaks Nev, but her family is there to help heal her wounds, along with Cameron. Cam will do whatever it takes to ensure Nev recovers when it comes to all of the trauma life has handed her. He's a true knight in shining armour. It just takes a while for Nev to realize how far those who love her will go to protect her, and seal her happiness.

I've always admired the way this author weaves beautiful writing into ordinary descriptions of things we see everyday. Her characters are once again given great detail and easy to relate to. Her style is very admirable, showing the ability to switch gears between real life and supernatural plots. I was eager to finish Nev in one day!

I can't wait to see what Kristi comes up with next when it comes to young adult fiction. Kudos to this author!

THANK YOU for being such an amazing person and sending me this book!

In all this close proximity book, Cameron falls for Nev. Like really hard, to the point of no return. But Nev had just been through a traumatic event, which triggered something in her head and she felt like hurting herself can be the best solution to cope!

Such a good read ❤️

The way this story hit my very soul 🥹 The MFC, Nev, was so relatable on many levels. I think most of us have been in that high school love (MMC) or oblivion (MFC). Nev went through hell and back and her best friend was there at every turn. She faced things I believe a lot of young women face and their stories are often not told or heard. I love how Kristi weaved this story together. Nev’s brother, Brock, plays such a perfect role as well. The older, annoying, quirky, fun loving, and sometimes (actually) stinky one. I absolutely fell in love with these characters and hope to find out there’s a book about Brock in the works! Well done Kristi!

Fav Quote: “I’ve always thought we missed out on so much because we simply never took the time to really look. How much of the world never gets gazed upon? Everything, from the sparkling mica minerals twinkling in the Earth-toned stones, to the tree branches reaching out to offer life, going over looked and never really being appreciated”

Nev by Kristi Ayers is a roller coaster of a book! This is my second book to read by this author. The first was Falling in the Blue Hour, which I loved. In this book, the main female character is Nev, a teenage girl who has endured far too much for her young age. The main male characters are Cameron, her adopted cousin, and Brock, her brother. Nev’s mother died when she was young and she has assumed the caretaker role for her father and brother. Cameron and his parents live next door and he often helps Nev out with things around the house. Slowly, he develops feelings for Nev, but she is unaware. Nev decides to date someone and things go very, very wrong. The family goes to their Colorado vacation home Cameron questions whether to disclose his true feelings to Nev.

This book was a total surprise for me. I went in not knowing much about it. However, this author is now a must-read, so I wasn’t worried. Kristi has a way of writing that draws you in. Her characters are well drawn out and you care about what happens to them. I loved the relationship between Nev and her brother Brock. I was happily surprised by how their relationship turned out by the end of the book. The relationship between Nev and Cameron was also handled well. It was such a delicate situation and I feel it was handled nicely. Also, I think the reactions of the parents were very realistic. It’s understandable to be shocked and concerned about the relationship between Nev and Cameron after everything Nev has been through. Could it have been handled better? Absolutely, but no one is perfect. Of note, a side character, Lina, becomes friendly to Nev during the summer. Without giving any spoilers, she played a minor role in the story and I understand why she wasn’t mentioned again. Sometimes characters just aren’t that integral to the rest of the story.

Overall, I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars. I love this author’s style of writing and I will read anything she writes in the future. However, I wish the book had been longer and there had been more input from Nev’s father (specifically, after the incidents that happened to Nev). I can’t name those here (spoilers). It would have been nice to hear him speak to her and support her more, not just read about seeing him with tears in his eyes. I would love to see a follow-up book about Brock or with Kennady and Jayson. This is a YA book, but the themes are mature, so be prepared to discuss this with your teen if needed. Thank you to Kristi for the ARC copy. I loved reading it!

*ARC review*

Hold on tight, because this book is going to take you on a ride! Picture this: Nev, a teen who’s balancing high school, family responsibilities, and pulling off the best pranks on her brother (seriously, she’s a prank queen). Enter Cameron, her adopted cousin who’s always around to save the day and pitch in, whether it’s dishes or movie marathons. He’s basically the unsung hero of Nev’s chaotic life, but here’s where things get spicy.

When Nev catches the eye of the school’s top bad boy, Cameron goes into full-on protective mode, acting like she’s about to run off with the villain in a dramatic rom-com. But, oh no! His protective instincts morph into something… more. Cue the internal chaos as Cameron realizes he’s been falling for Nev this whole time. What’s a guy to do when his cousin is not just his best friend but also the girl who’s slowly stealing his heart?

But wait, things don’t stay chill for long. Nev's world flips upside down after one wild night, and she decides to run away from her troubles on a family trip to Colorado. Spoiler alert: Cameron’s not about to let her go through this alone. Armed with his charm and emotional baggage, he’s there to pick up the pieces and, of course, pine from a safe distance. Will he ever confess his feelings? Can Nev ever see him as more than the funny guy she watches movies with?

Filled with laughs, swoon-worthy moments, and a lot of heart, this story is the perfect blend of "Will they, won't they?" tension and emotional depth. If you're not rooting for Cameron by the end, are you even reading it right? Five stars, because anything less would be a crime against this adorable and heartfelt tale!

Nev is such a beautiful deep heartfelt book I loved it just as much as I did falling in the blue hour. There is a scene in here where it gave me summer vibes and brought me back to a magical feeling that I experienced with another book. I love Nev and Cameron even Brock however I want more Nev and cam I feel like there story isn’t over yet there is so much to be told as their story is just beginning. I wish we would have learned more about what happened to a certain character but I’m glad where everything turned out I was gutted quit a few times in here and I laughed when Nev would pummel Brock. The situations in this book made me feel everything the way amber smiths book the way I used to be made me feel only the books were very much different with the monster in Nev being just this popular guy at school but the topics were gut wrenching and it just amazed me to read of how much Nev changed at the end she went through hell and got angry and then got stronger and claimed her life back. I’m sad because it’s over I want more I hope there will be more these are my little babies my gems and I wish I could say more but I can’t spoil the book for you I will say this Nev is 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and I definitely recommend it but if you’re going to let your 16 year olds read it I suggest you talk to them first about hard topics or read the book with them and answer the questions they have for you!! It’s romantic it’s heartfelt and heartache it’s funny and captivating it’s worth reading and rereading!! Kristi did it again with another masterpiece 🥰🫶🏼💕💕💕

“Silence. It wasn’t silence from an empty house. It was silence from an oh-shit-I-got-caught older brother.”

Nev was a beautiful and heartbreaking story of a teenage girl, navigating life and love after heartbreak. When everything crashes down around her after an assault, her life spirals until her best friend and adoptive cousin helps her find her footing again. Her relationships with those around her varied from amazing to downright Cinderella vibes. Understanding they’re all grieving, the way she’s basically a maid to her brother and dad makes me so angry, and the way some other adult characters act later in the book made my blood boil. Her friendship with Kennady was adorable. Her relationship with Cameron came in ebbs and flows as it developed and they navigated that awkward and weird phase.

This story is full of heavy, emotional ups and downs and I recommend reading the trigger warnings to make sure it’s the one for you. As much as I’d like to recommend it to everyone - and I do - your mental health matters. As someone who has experienced a couple of the things that happen to poor Nev in the story, I had to take a break (which is why this review isn’t coming out before release day). I loved the story as a whole and it’s definitely a good read. I think it’s classed as YA, so if you’re letting a teen read it - again read the triggers.

Thank you Kristi for the opportunity to read and review this gorgeous story.

Kristi’s writing style is my favorite! The way I can open one of her books and devour it in one sitting speaks volumes. Her books always pack some kind of emotional punch and this one did not disappoint!

It’s older/mature YA to NA, but I highly recommend checking out all of the author’s trigger warnings as this book deals with some very heavy topics.

Tropes you’ll find here:
close proximity
emotional scenes
forbidden love
he falls first
ya romance
fmc loves Halloween
Colorado summer setting
heart-wrenching angst
laugh out loud banter

Nev’s character goes through so much after the death of her mother; a traumatizing experience with her school’s bad boy, the after effects of that experience, and then the forbidden love that doesn’t seem like it could possibly EVER work out. Whew, I mean, it’s A LOT! I felt every thing this girl felt. 😮‍💨

Cameron is the attentive cousin, adopted by her aunt and uncle at a young age. He is the perfect golden retriever type and in tune with Nev at all times. Kristi really knows how to write the perfect guy and I loved that we got to experience his turmoil through his mind in this dual pov novel.

I loved the character growth we got from her brother, Brock. She dedicated her life to her dad and brother after her mom’s death and it was so sweet to see him mature and take care of her. Their sibling banter was my favorite because my daughter is also younger/tougher than her brother and so the dynamic here was believable. 😅

This book is about teenagers, so some of their actions are frustrating, but it makes sense that it would progress the way it did. Keep that in mind when you read YA. I personally love it because I remember my emotions ruling over logic at that age.

I'll start by saying this was not my typical read since I normally do not read YA romance, but, who doesn't love a strong willed, hard headed, determined, funny, professional prankster and sassy FMC. I know I do.

Nev is a teenage girl who is dealing with grown up responsibilities who steps in the role of her mother after she passes away by taking care of Brok (her brother ) and her Dad. She is cooking, cleaning, maintaining the home, while also attending high school, doing homework, teenage crushing , typical teenage girl behavior.

Nev falls in love with Derrick who is the bad boy. Something dark and tragic happened in this relationship and Nev starts spiraling out of control and into dark places.
Enters Cameron who is not only Nev's adopted cousin but also her best friend. Deep down he is dealing with some issues of his own, but falls in love with Nev and her ultimate savior.

My favorite character was Brock- (Nev's brother) He is funny, witty, smart and lazy, but the most loving and supportive brother while Nev is battle ling her demons while at her darkest times.
I loved the character development throughout the story.

This book is easy to read that deals with some hard topic (forbidden romance, date rape, unwanted pregnancy, self harm, adoption, depression, loss of parent) and I strongly suggest reading the trigger warnings of this book. Its definitely a roller coaster of emotions.

I am thankful of the author by giving the opportunity to read this book as an ARC- All opinions are my own.

“You truly know me better than anyone else and that means the world to me.” 🎸🎃☀️🍋🏡

Thank you @kristi_ayers_books for the ARC of Nev!! I thought I had a general idea of what this story would be when I jumped into it, but it was so much more than I expected.

Five years after her mother’s death, Nev has learned to juggle high school and housework to maintain some normalcy for her dad and older brother. Cameron, her adopted cousin and best friend, helps Nev whenever he can. When Nev starts dating the notorious bad boy from school, Cameron realizes his feelings for her run deeper than their cousin relationship—blood-related or otherwise—allows.

Nev lands in a dangerous situation, and she is forever changed. Hoping for an escape from her own demons, she looks forward to the family’s annual cabin trip to Colorado. Through it all, Cameron is determined to protect Nev with all he has, whether or not he ever shares his true feelings with the girl he loves.

This book gave me ALL the feelings. Between the hilarious ribs between Nev and her brother Brock, to Nev’s crushing devastation, to Cameron’s longing and unconditional love for Nev, this book was a RIDE.

⚠️ This is technically a Young Adult book, but I would absolutely read the content warnings on the author’s website before reading it or recommending it to someone else. The main characters are teenagers, but the novel covers some mature topics that I believe are better suited to older teenagers or adults. I don’t think I would’ve read this as a teen, but I also concede to having lived a more “sheltered” childhood 😂

But if you’re looking for a real-life, emotional story about overcoming trauma, family bonds, and young love that is pure and true, this is a great one to start 🩷

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the author for the opportunity to read the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

What I particularly loved about this book:
- Kristi has a remarkable talent for crafting witty banter! The sharp, engaging dialogue truly kept me invested and entertained throughout the story. The writing style is incredibly enjoyable, making it a read that you can easily binge in one sitting. I saw another review saying that they weren’t found how many heavy topics were in such a “short book”, but honestly that’s what I enjoyed the most because I was never bored! More books need to be like that.

Side note: I would be thrilled to see a follow-up book that follows Jayson journey alongside Kennedy.

As for some elements that didn’t work out for me (without giving away any spoilers):

- There are a few scenes that seem to be included for shock value, which felt a bit out of sync with the overall character development (like Nev's bathroom scene).
- In the beginning Nev’s behaviors appeared inconsistent with their initial portrayals as Nev's sudden shift from reluctance to be alone to intimacy with Derrick with little progression.

Overall, this book is an enjoyable read that tackles some heavy topics, and I appreciated the opportunity to dive into its world. 16-18 year old me would have eaten this right up and 32 year old me still really enjoyed this.

Nev is a YA book following our main character, Nevada or “Nev”, coming of age, overcoming difficult situations and first love. She’s strong and opinionated, loves Halloween and pranks and keeps her brother in check in the way only siblings can do. Along the way, Nev finds herself in a difficult situation, through no fault of her own, and deals with some darker issues as she pushes through. Along the way she finds love in the most unlikely and forbidden of places.

I really enjoyed the love story that developed and the banter and pranks between Nev, her brother and Cameron.

Nev experienced some heavy topics (date rape, pregnancy, miscarriage, self harm) but I felt like the author handled the situations delicately and well.

My only gripe was one character came into the story pretty heavy only to disappear out of nowhere a few chapters later. I kept waiting for this character to come back or if there would be a twist but it seemed like they were just forgotten and no longer relevant. I would have liked some closure or at least an explanation of their exit.

The story was well written, the characters well rounded, and the storyline hit some heavy topics but the love story was sweet and wholesome. Overall, this was a great, quick and enjoyable read.

Nev follows Nev and her adopted cousin Cameron. When Cameron’s feelings for Nev go beyond familial love, Cameron is faced with addressing his complicated feelings and the fallout of letting Nev know his deepest secret.

Nev deals with heavy topics at times, but above all is a story of love and perserverence between two families. Nev is a strong willed, independent woman. Nev goes through a lot, especially considering her age, but with the help of Cameron and her strong will she is able to overcome all life has thrown at her. I just loved Nev and Cameron’s relationship, above all they are truly each other’s best friend. There is nothing that Cameron wouldn’t do to protect Nev.

I also loved seeing the character development throughout. Brock started out as your typical lazy, irresponsible brother, but by the end you can really see his love for Nev shine through and all he wants to do is look out for his little sister. I realy enjoyed this read, and I’m looking forward to Kristi’s next novel!

HOLY CRAP!! I don’t read YA much anymore but DAMN!! The way I was sucked into this book😩 I stayed up till 4am to finish it because I was just so hooked on what was going to happen with Nev and Cam. And lets not talk about the internal gasp I did when I got to chapter 2 and saw “Cameron” as the pov😱 I don’t read the blurbs or trigger warnings for books, I like going in completely blind and lets just say I was SHOCKED!! Forbidden romance is one of my FAVORITE tropes and I was living for this whole book! Kristi did not disappoint! I love how sweet Cameron is and how all he wants is what’s best for Nev. When Nev snuck out to go to a party with Derrick and Cam found her I felt everything Cam felt. I PMd Kristi and was like “oh fuck this”😂

I'm so glad that she never gave up. I loved Brock & Cameron. The love that they had for Nev was amazing. They were always there to help her, whenever.

ARC REVIEW

My heartfelt apologies to author Kristi Ayers for my delay in posting a review.
Personal day-to-day issues aside, I honestly had a hard time gathering my feelings about this story.
So much so, that I debated between a 3 or 4 star rating.

Nev is the definition of a coming of age, while dealing with some of the hardest traumatic events that life can throw at you. Filled with the ups and downs of teen angst, learning how to survive after the loss of a parent, and of course first loves and the emotional turmoil that comes along with it.

While it was strange for me to read a YA version of forbidden love, I do think that Kristi navigated that topic very eloquently. Cameron is Nev's adopted cousin and best friend, but he steps up for Nev more than her father and brother.

Even though there were a lot of heavy moments that I wouldn't normally agree with in a YA book, I think the topics are very important, especially for this upcoming generation.

It's raw, emotional, very triggering (pls read the warnings ahead of time), but there are moments of lightheadedness that eases some of the pain that you will experience.

Despite some of my own personal issues with parts of the book, I genuinely stand by decision of giving Nev 4 stars.

A big thank you to Kristi Ayers for this ARC. I'm so sorry for posting my review a few months late. I just needed one more chance to read the book while in a better headspace.

Another devour in one sitting read of Kristi Ayers books. The way the story, even if extremely raw and emotion packed, flowed effortlessly I didn't want to stop. Lol and I didn't.

The way Nev handled very difficult life traumas, I wanted to hug her through the pages. I loved everything about Nev, from her spunky attitude, her passion of all things adventure and spooky, and to how she goes through the lowest lows and manages in her own, unfortunately relateable behaviors due to unfortunately relateable experiences.

The way certain subjects are approached in this book was so respectable, I appreciate how they weren't taken lightly, they were addressed, but in a way that both didn't take the subject lightly by any means but also made this an enjoyable read.

The MMC was such a good guy too, I loved him so much, and I appreciated the acknowledgment of his feelings early on and loved the idea of him trying not to be "that guy". We all need a Cameron. ❤️

Nev
By: Kristi Ayers
Release date October 29th 2024

This book had me feeling every emotion. I was happy, sad, angry and confused about my feelings all at the same time. I have never cried with a book but this one came close. I loved this book because it was real and raw with emotions.
In this book, you meet Cameron and Nev along with their family. Cameron is Nev’s adopted cousin and their families are extremely close even living next door to each other after Nev’s mom passed away.
Nev goes through some very traumatic things that no teenager should have to go through. Cameron is by her side just as he has been since her mom passed away. All while working out his feelings.
This a story with strong family bonds and so many emotions and changing family dynamics.
It is such a well-written book. I would recommend this book. It was a four-star read for me. Just make sure to check your trigger warnings.

Please read triggers as this does contain SA, Self Harm, Miscarriage.

What an emotional rollercoaster ride! I absolutely loved this book! The author had me laughing my butt off and then had me bawling my eyes out then back to smiling from ear to ear! Nev is truly one of the most strongest FMC that girl went thought a lot but she kept on going. I love how Author Kristi described the emotions and also the descriptions of the settings! Spoiler she had me wanting Smores! If you’re looking for a raw emotional story with a happy ending then this one is for you.

This book was beautifully written. I want to start by saying that Kristi has listed trigger warnings for this book. Please read them. Now to why I enjoyed this book. The relationship between the FMC and MMC was beautiful. This book talks about a very traumatic event that happens to the MMC and love is formed from and how the bond of a family is tested. I found myself gasping while reading this book and I was almost in tears. Beautifully written. I highly recommend.

Gotta love YA books. I just loved Nev. and reading about all the trials and tribulations of young love. Cameron is just so sweet, kind and amazing. Nev is so hardworking for her family especially since her mom passed away years before. She looks after the household. I especially like her antics between her and her brother so hilarious. Nev and her adopted cousin Cameron have such an amazing friendship and relationship. I love how their story unfolds into love and friendship both. I love Ms. Kristi Ayers writing style and writing YA books. I love that genre. I Will definitely read more books by her.

As always, I want to thank the wonderful Kristi for gifting me this eARC and always trusting me with her babies 🥹 I love reading her work and I swear it only gets better!

This was SUCH a cute little book.
Nev and her family have always had a close relationship and if anything, the closeness only grew when Nev’s mom passed away. She’s juggling the regular teenage responsibilities on top of taking on the roll as the mother in the house.

While she does have some help from her dad and brother, the majority of the help comes from her adopted cousin, Cameron. They’ve always had a special bond and can always be counted on to be together.

Things are changing as they’re both getting older and they quickly realize that their relationship is much more than cousins.

OKAY DONT EVEN SAY ANYTHING because Cameron is ADOPTED!! Cameron sets out on his own journey to find his birth parents so he can prove to both himself and Nev that they come from different families.

The concept is interesting and not like anything I’ve dove into so far, but I loved it. Nev was such a strong female lead and Cameron was the typical “I want to save her” golden retriever boy that every girl knows, loves, and wants.
