A short and spicy urban paranormal story. Absolutely devoured this book. Shifter/Alpha pack leader finds his fated mate in a woman who is basically a lost soul who has lost hope in ever being truly happy. This could have easily been 5⭐️ if it wasn’t for the major cliffhanger it ended on with no promises of a sequel 😫

Updating from 4 ⭐️ to 5⭐️ because author confirmed we are getting a part 2!!

“Mine” was really a testament of the versatility of this authors pen. I was pleasantly surprised but also completely invested in the story. It was so crazy how possessive and obsessed Yves was over Zamiyah. I loved how he explained his life and wolf culture to her. Zamiyah had a tough life and her hesitant to be fully invested in Yves was frustrating. Like the man told you you’re his fated mate, why are you running from that good man lol 😂 I would have liked more insight as to her mom’s background, because that was pivotal. Overall, I’m hoping there’s more of this pack. Good job.

So I love a good paranormal romance book. But we have lots to talk about with this one. I see so much potential for this story. One thing is for sure that there was a big deal made about mate bonding and virginity but those things were rushed through and not really explored. There were other things that could have been less explained. Fluff that was unnecessary. I love the idea of the story but we need a redo esp with the many errors throughout. More exploring of the romance with more spice especially the mating/bonding and Zamiyah losing her virginity to Yves. Zamiyah was a very confusing character lacking self esteem, but I guess I can understand why. She didn’t know who she was, an orphan with no family and negatively attaching herself to someone who didn’t deserve to be near her. The timeline for the story was spotty and confusing. Character development for ones that played a part in the plot twists. The cliffhanger ending definitely needs to be followed up with in the next book. Hopefully we will answers to our questions. Overall it was ok but could have been much better. 2.75⭐️

I hope this isn’t received negatively but as constructive.

I NEED MORE!!

This story was so good! I ate this book up! The story was captivating from start to finish. In this story, humans and shifters live peacefully. Zamiyah is human and Yves is a shifter and they meet at the bank. Once they meet, Yves instantly knows Zamiyah is his mate.

I loved the chemistry between Zamiyah and Yves. The slow-burn of their relationship felt so naturalThe story ended abruptly leaving me with so many questions! I'm intrigued to read a book 2 or a continuation to get those answers!

This book had the potential to be a five star book if the author had stuck to this book actually being a standalone book rather than abruptly ending the book on a cliffhanger with the disclaimer at the end that she might write another book to answer all the unanswered questions depending on how this book is perceived. If you start a book series finish it. Holding part two hostage isn’t fair for us readers.

Okay this wasn't a standalone first. Shamiyah got on my nerves the whole book. Way too many unanswered questions just for it to possibly be a part 2. I don't know the storyline was good but it missing something for me. I just believe that this is how this book is ending

Hey so this was actually pretty bad. It had good reviews and a Gem Award so I had high hopes.

It starts off ok. It’s short so I figured it would progress fast. There are plot holes like one chapter says “one week later” and then she says “it’s only been 3 days” but it should be like 9.

The character’s stubbornness just completely dissolves in one swoop and she’s all of a sudden wanting to give him everything. The development is lacking across the board.

The spice is good but often out of place and rushed.

Grammatical errors that are uncomfortable to read.

It was giving wrote in one sitting and hit upload.

I feel like at some points it wasn’t cohesive. Like at one point I’m reading them in the car and the next chapter is 11 months later. That blew me fr. I felt like it was a bunch of information crammed to help the plot but it just felt stuffy. I didn’t not like it but wasn’t my favorite.

EDIT: I updated my rating because Ni’ssan dropped a second book.

———

Tbh, this book is a five-star read, but I gave it three because it ends on a cliffhanger with multiple unanswered questions and the author being like “I *might* write more”. If there isn’t a continuation of this story by the time you’re reading this review, don’t bother starting this book since there’s no guarantee of a follow up. Or if you do decide to read it anyway, stop reading at the “a day later” section in chapter 23. That little part and beyond introduces new storylines that don’t get resolved.

ANYWAY…

I thought Zamiyah trying to get away from Yves in the beginning was super relatable because sir I don’t know you. Leave me alone. Lol. I also liked that when Zamiyah went to lunch with Amanda and was able to get some questions answered to help her understand what was going on with her, Zamiyah decided to give Yves (what I thought was) a real chance. I really liked Yves and Zamiyah together, and she pissed me off when she decided to listen to that voice in her head at that party.

Yves is a great protector and comes off as no nonsense. When he mentioned that he missed telling dad jokes to Zamiyah, that caught me all the way off guard. Yves doesn’t seem like he has a playful bone in his body lol. He’s always growling, frowning or using some kind of authoritative voice.

I also really liked their family, although I’m still on the fence about Declan. I also don’t like how Cree is playing my girl Halo, but above all, Yves and Zamiyah’s support system are amazing.

good book but…

The book was good, HOWEVER it was advertised as a standalone! Meaning everything should have been wrapped up in this one book. Being that it wasn’t AND there wasn’t a time frame stating if or when there will be a part two I took some stars. To be honest, I should’ve rate it as 2-3 stars for an incomplete story (that’s MY opinion). I didn’t because i actually do like this author.

Mine by Nissan was honestly such a fun throwback read for me. It reminded me of being 15, 16, 17 years old, curled up in bed with my iPod Touch, devouring those completed wolf shifter stories on Wattpad no ads, no interruptions, just pure escapism. That’s exactly the vibe this book gave me.

Now, the writing itself isn’t the strongest. There were plot holes everywhere, the grammar felt off at times, and I was confused more often than not. Even after finishing, I still had questions that had me raising my eyebrows like, when the hell did this happen? Where did this come from? Who even is this person? There are a lot of gaps and missing pieces in the timeline like how did she suddenly go missing? How do you go from talking to a voice to being lost, and then even after you’re found, we still don’t know what really happened? That part definitely left a lot to be desired.

But here’s the thing: none of that actually annoyed me. The story was so fun and interesting that I didn’t even care about the flaws the way I normally would. I liked the characters, I liked the energy, and I especially liked how short and easy it was to get through. The spice? Whew. This man loved to eat him some fat cat and I was absolutely here for it. I will forever love a MMC who knows how to take care of his woman, and Nissan delivered on that front.

I’m honestly considering reading the other two books about the brothers, even though I don’t know if they’ll hit the same way. Probably not right now though I need a break with some really good cliterature first. But overall, this reminded me just how much I miss werewolf romances. The shifter bond, the mind links, the possessiveness, the markings, the intensity it’s all the stuff I used to love when I first started reading as a teen, and Mine gave me exactly that.

"Mine" had potential for the author's first Paranormal book, although it may have been a bit ambitious and scattered. In the future, less is more. I hope she doesn't give up.

Disolutioned Alpha, Yves finds his mate at a bank in guest Zamiyah. So he kidnapps her and makes her fall for him.... basically🤭 before he can claim her.

Zamiyah was orphaned early and struggled all her life until this stranger steps in.
She likes his face...
She likes his body...
She likes his sex...
But his wolf??? She is terrified of him... And if she can't accept all of him, that's a deal breaker.

Just as the plot twist and thickens, the book, however, basically ends. Not on a cliffhanger or anything, just ends with loads of unanswered questions. Most that get introduced towards the end of the book.
- who's this darkness and profecy after the couple?
- who's in the woods?
How does this all tie back to zombie-boy Jake? Did he know who she was all along?
What's really good with Cree & Halo?
-Declan?
- Will the brothers get their own books?

Now, they did not skimp on the spice because Yves was a man's man. He put in work like he had a point to make every time.

Genre: Paranormal/ Fantasy/ urban romance
Troupe: Instalove / Virgin Girl
Spice Level:🔥🔥🔥

I said what I said and as always: don't take my word for it. Read the book, form your own opinions, and support your authors!!

I loved this book so much. It’s definitely in my top paranormals. Growing up thinking you had no one so you cling to a shitty ass man and situation until you walk into a bank and end up mated to a shifter/werewolf. Y’all Zamiyah had no idea just how much her life was going to change.

When Yves told her they would be together, he meant it. That man showed up to her apartment hours later and he took her. After that, his home was their home cause he made it clear she wasn’t leaving. It’s crazy how she felt all the things she did and tried so hard to fight it. I was glad when she had that talk with Amanda and thought okay we gon make some head way and then she left.

WTF!!!! But after that time hop and things came to light. WHEW!!! I got it. It all made sense BUT it was real touch and go for a minute. Either way, I’m just glad they were able to work things out because ain’t no way Zamiyah and Yves didn’t make it. It was destined. Great job Miss MaMas!!!

surprisingly good

Yes is 1of 3 alphas for his pack and is an alpha of a long line of alphas. He is handsome, smart, strong, kind, and a great leader. He still hadn’t found his mate and was the only brother without his mate.
Kamiyah had a difficult childhood after loosing her parents abruptly, going into foster care and then being stuck with her loser boyfriend because she had no where to go and no one to help her.

Things change when she walks into the bank and Yves scents her as his mate. Things rapidly happen and she is overwhelmed by being the mate of a wolf shifter. She’s expected to trust him, believe, him and mate with him but she’s human and struggles with reconciling what she knows with what is happening. Her fear, her logical brain, her desire for freedom, and her need to not be controlled by others leads her to make a terrible decision.

This was a surprisingly good book for the authors first paranormal. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope she received the support she deserved in order to continue writing the next book.

Great read!

Edit, edit, edit some more

The pacing for this story was off and it was incomplete. A stand-alone novel means if you don’t read anything more then you will be satisfied and all loose ends will be tied. This is, in fact, a series. And not just that, but it’s a series with a cliffhanger ending.

Sometimes as a writer you have to revisit sections of your story to be sure things are lining up properly. Ask yourself, why? Why would my character respond this way? And if that answer doesn’t make sense, then more development is needed.

Also ask yourself, is there a better moment/method for this information to be revealed? This prevents sections of the book from feeling like an info dump. You don’t want long paragraphs of information that don’t immediately aid the story. It’s distracting and pulls the reader out of the moment.

There’s a lot of potential here and since I can’t leave a story incomplete I will read the next two books. I really hope this author can change my mind.

an interesting storyline.

I was fascinated & intrigued from the start.
I loved Yves. He was sexy & self assured. He didn’t play about his mate, yet he never acted too crazy or unhinged.

I felt for Zamiyah. She had a tough upbringing & then her only relationship experience was twisted & toxic. Her views were warped & she was working through a lot all at once. So I get it, & to an extent, I was extending grace. But the way her hesitance had me overly frustrated. Baby, it got to a point where she has torturing me Yves, & herself. Like friend, you have the power to end your own suffering.
I felt like we were finally about to get some answers then the story ended. 😩

I’m left with a few questions.
(slight spoilers.. beware)
What exactly was Jake? Red eyes & white skin are mentioned, but idk. Was he a dark mage or some type of shifter?
What happened to Zamiyah bonding more with Mary & Chris.. & learning about her parents?
the glowing, purple eyes?
& then the ending.. it’s giving “to be continued”
I guess we’ll have conflict resolution in the next book.

Amazing Read!!!

I absolutely loved this novel. It gave me a story not just sex. It gave family, loyalty, devotion, and most of all love which conquers ALL…. Please please we need another one as soon as possible. I need to know if the prophecy comes to pass and who was the traitor. I need to see if Miyah comes into her powers and see how she evolves in the pack. I need to see how the pups grow up and see if they show signs of powers being wolves/magess and how they fall into the prophecy… Did Miyah get a chance to see her father again in the Far Plane like her mother told her she would. And what’s going on with the other brother who’s been secretive lately. What is he going through or is he part of the betrayal? Sooo yea pleeeaaasee another book is definitely needed… You Ni’san did a PHENOMENAL JOB!!!! Keep going!!! I will definitely keep my eyes out for you!!!

This was my 1st read from this author, and I love ever moment of it. I normally don’t go for these but surprisingly I couldn’t put it down. It shows up as a standalone but there are two other books to go with this book. This is a urban paranormal with some spicy! Shifters and Alpha and humans all just living and mating was something different. The obsession Yves has with Zamiyah while she is walking around lost and longer for more with life. Who would have thought you live your life for years not knowing what your really sleeping with or next two only for it turn in your face. This was soo good but it killed me they way it ended not getting all of the answers. Glad I went down the rabbit hole to find out the story was not over.

Amazing Paranormal Featuring African-American

It's a greatly written book. I actually read the second book in the series first, and was hooked, so I had to go back to read this one . I have already downloaded the third book in this series and I am highly looking forward to reading it next.
We need more of these types of books. Please do let this be the end. Your writing is not only based on lust but only love also. A lot of the African American paranormal stories are written with the most efficiency are base on the overwritten sex scene and not the overall story. But you have written a series that does a wonderful job at both.❤

this was such a great read!

I’m not even going to hold you, Miyah was really upsetting me with fighting herself when it came to Yves. Then Crew handling his mate like that; I hope she find someone that’s going to love her the way she is. The storyline, the plot twist, her meeting her mom—was everything! You really laid it all out perfectly!! Couldn’t even tell this was your first paranormal. Definitely gained a reader for life! I just need you to spin the block because I’m nervous right along with Zamiyah 😩😩

good story but unfinished

I really enjoyed this story but was highly disappointed that it was unfinished. And from the authors note its unclear if it will ever be finished. Like it ended abruptly with lots of unanswered questions. So if you read it, prepare to be frustrated. There were also some small inconsistencies. For example at one point zamiyah said she had been with yves for a week then in the next chapter it was a few days. It wasnt distracting but noticeable. Overall the book was entertaining and had a good balance of drama, suspense, and romance.

I love me some Yves!!

This was such a great book! I love me a good wolf shifter and this world was new and innovative! Love the mystery and intrigue! Sad both Zamiyah and Yves missed those crucial months together but so happy they made it back! I need to know what happens with the mages and I thought it was Jake that kidnapped her at first and made her forget somehow. I wonder how it’s all related! Please make a part 2 plus much more! Black paranormal books are my fave and I for sure will be reading yours!!

The thing that bothers me the most is this is marketed as a standalone novel but was a cliffhanger with lots of unexplained questions. It took a bit of research to figure out that there is another book (Yours) but even that is marketed as a standalone without mention of a series or related book. There was a bit of inconsistency but nothing too serious. However, Zamiyah is one of the most annoying FMC I’ve ever encountered. All the way until the last 15 pages she vacillated about the MMC as a wolf shifter.

Mine solidified Ni’ssan’s place in the urban paranormal market — especially impressive for this to be their first book in the genre! You can clearly see the potential for them to become one of the best urban paranormal authors out there. While the novella felt slightly rushed in some spots, it still got you exactly where you needed to be. The story beautifully captured the magic of fated mates, love, overcoming fear, and that internal battle when the heart and mind finally align. I’m definitely looking forward to book two and hopefully many more to come!

It was just ok…
The beginning seemed like a nice light novella, but then it’s like halfway through the author decides to make it a series and the plot becomes weird. One minute the FMC wants the MMC to complete the bond and is begging him, then they have a party and she just disappears with a strange voice. The transition was weird and it jumps almost a year later and insert a baby. Then ends on a random cliffhanger. Also, why characterize the brothers one way then change the personalities entirely when we actually meet each one. The whole set up was weird and awkward.
