Bound by Ravens #3

The Heartbreak Show

Rate this book
THE HEARTBREAK SHOW is a continuation of THE NIGHT MARKET (read first) with major spoilers for BOUND BY RAVENS. This is not a standalone that can be read on its own.

A demi-mortal with a divine secret
A Raven shifter determined to a win a bet
And a quest that changes everything

Not all heroes wear armor, I was told when younger. Not even the warrior god whose namesake I chose at thirteen when my sister and I ran away.

A warrior god who left his known world . . . in a dress.

But, darlin’, life is far more complicated than a faerie tale. Especially when you discover you are one.

Aye, shocked me too. And very little surprises me. I focus, however, on winning a ridiculous bet made with the gorgeous Gent of Fem, the girl I love, in a bawdy coin beggar’s show for our tribe. But when my meddling great-aunt appears to me in the woods, I can no longer ignore my secrets.

So now, like the heroes of old, I’m on an absurd quest to reclaim an even more laughable birthright. A heist that not only forces me to accept my darkness as well as my light, but one that also forces me to face two of my greatest fears.

A broken heart . . . and Seren.

THE HEARTBREAK SHOW is a new adult fae romantic fantasy set in the Bound by Ravens world and perfect for fans

flirty rivals-to-lovers romance, cozy but with high stakes, cozy-ish, chosen mates, fantasy romcom, witty banter, touch him and die, feral for him, glamourous Victorian fashion, Irish mythology, a dash of slice-of-life, fluffy raccoons, chaos and whimsy, and smutty innuendos.

Cian and Glenna (and of course George also) already stole my heart in the Night Market. In the Heartbreak show, they can finally steal the spotlight completely for themselves (not that this has stopped them before 😂).

Be prepared for Cian’s chaos, Glenna’s sassiness, the thieving ways of a faerie raccoon, love-talking, faerie-struck mortals, magic and forest familiars, bargains and bets, lots of banter and found family. These characters have been through so much already, and yet they keep fighting, keep changing and growing, both as individuals and friends/lovers/family. You’ll also see other familiar faces again and befriend some new or lesser-known ones.

Jesikah also has a beautiful way of portraying disabilities and neuro divergence, which come across very truthfully and understandable for both people familiar and unfamiliar with said disability. Her writing style is lyrical and pulls you right into the story.

I can’t say much more about this book without giving spoilers away, but I can tell you that this book made me laugh, swoon, giggle, gasp, … I loved it!

Be sure to read both Bound by Ravens AND the Night Market before reading this story, because it’s NOT a standalone, it’s part of a larger series. You won’t regret it.

There is something to be said when an authors books can comfort a soul.

This is what it's like reading any Jesikah Sundin's work, but The Heartbreak Show takes the SHOW(tee hee).

“Gent of Fem, bets.” “Lady of Man… bets”

The whole Night Market series has my heart, but the Heartbreak Show might be my favorite among them. As usual, the narrators killed the game in the audiobook. They give life to the characters like no other, and their interpretation –yes, with the Irish accents– allow the reader/listener to dive into the story. Like for the other installments in this series, I did an immersive reading (audio+ebook), and I have absolutely no regrets. Oh, and there’s a bonus in the audio, the short story heartshot, that you can grab with the author’s NL as an ebook, is added in the end.
I loved the relationship between Glenna and Cian. The banter, especially, is delicious, and clearly carries JS’s touch (I mean… this bet? Super fun, super hot!). She writes that like no other. These two are clearly friends, very close, and the longing is a lot different than in the other books. They chose to be together, and that brings something more –IMO– in this story. I also adored the gender “non conformity” in this one, and I mean that above the fact that Cian is a genderfluid character (which is a great thing already). Glenna is self-assured, doesn’t apologize, impose herself, is a tad jealous –but without being a caricature or rude. She knows who she is and where she goes, while Cian has a long journey in front of him –quite literally.
Because this book is first and foremost about Cian’s quest. I loved how the author took (and twisted) the Irish myths to adapt them into that fantasy romcom. I loved his trajectory, how he becomes a hero but –first of all– can truly be himself, loved for who he is, freed from some “legacies” and associated fears.
So if you are looking for a fantasy romcom, mixing coziness, banter, spice and adventure, consider the Heartbreak Show (but you should, IMO, read the whole series, as they’re interconnected standalones).

The Heartbreak Show, the third and final book in Jesikah Sundin’s Bound by Ravens series, is definitely the quirkiest of the bunch — and that’s saying something. I’ve absolutely adored this series, with books 1 and 2 easily earning 5-star ratings from me. This one, while still a solid 4 stars, was a little harder to stay fully invested in.

The plot? Thieving back a magical cow to fulfill your birthright? Why the hell not, lol. It’s wild, hilarious, and full of the offbeat charm I’ve come to expect from Sundin. This book is easily the funniest of the three, with the MMC stealing the show. He’s witty, clever, and genuinely fun to follow, and I loved that we got more of him this time around. The dynamic between the main characters is cute and light, adding to the overall fun vibe.

That said, what held it back for me was the lack of background on the new tribe that got created. I really wanted more depth and worldbuilding there, and it felt like a missed opportunity. Compared to the richness of the first two books, this one felt a bit underdeveloped in that area.

Still, despite its shortcomings, The Heartbreak Show deserves 4 stars for rounding out a truly entertaining series. And if you haven’t experienced Bound by Ravens as audiobooks yet — you’re missing out. The narration adds so much charm to an already delightful story world.

Oh goodness how I absolutely adore the Bound by Ravens world. I would live there in an instant. I was incredibly excited to FINALLY read Cian and Glenna’s story after falling head over heels for them in The Night Market. There love for each other is magical. They accept everything about each other and celebrate each other’s passions - it is beautiful and inspiring. The quest Cian finds himself embarking on in this story is at times hilarious and also so wonderfully heartwarming. I also swooned at the crossover moments between this story and Bound by Ravens. Finally, the narrators, Kristy Geddes and Stewart Clark were perfection. They brought each of these characters to life and the duet narration was fantastic. I highly recommend finding time to lose yourself in this world.

Highlights:
✨Rivals(ish) to Lovers
✨Chosen Mates
✨Witty Banter
✨Found Family
✨Touch him or her and ☠️

Favorite Quote: “Not all heroes wear armor . . . Some wear dresses.”

"My beautiful ruination, my gorgeous Gent of Fem"

ALC Review
🎧: Stewart Crank and Kirsty Geddes 5/5 as always!!

ʟᴏᴠᴇᴅ
🐦‍⬛ A whimsical, vibrant, and cozy (ish) world
🍰 chosen mates
🐦‍⬛ Irish mythology
🍰 A mischievous but loving raccoon familiar
🐦‍⬛ Black Cat & Golden Retriever vibes
🍰 Witty banter
🐦‍⬛ The smutty innuendos
🍰 Acceptance

Jesikah has created a world that I'm just absolutely in love with. I recently watched Moore's Irish Folkore Trilogy (Wolfwalkers, Secret of the Kells, and Song of the Sea) again and this book series fits perfectly in the vibes I get from those movies.

Beautiful, vibrant, emotionally driven, fantastic story-telling. I adored how witty the characters are, I loved their competition against each other, the world is just with so much life. And don't forget that this is a duet!! Stewart and Kirsty just absolutely knocked it out of the park. I can't wait to get some quotes from the book to share!

Like the previous two books, this only further expands the world and it's genuinely amazing. You get more ideas of different parts of the world, how different groups of people operate which I think adds a diversity to the world. Jesikah has a very clear vision of this world and the people that reside in it which gives me a sense of thorough planning that goes into the story and plotlines.

Something that I really loved about this particular book is how I can relate to the inherently queerness of their relationship. Whether or not that is the author's intention, I think this book does a beautiful job at showing what some might see as a "straight" couple but in a way that still reads as Queer and it's beautiful!

I overall really loved the relationship but I do wish there had been a bit more tension but I think that's more of a me thing than a mark against the book. If you're wanting a slow burn this isn't it which is a nice option for many! I just love the growing tension between a couple haha.

All-in-all, another beautiful edition to the Bound By Ravens universe. While it is a standalone in many ways, I do recommend reading the first two so you can understand some important references but you won't be completely lost if you just decide to read this one.

thank you so much to the author for the early copy! all opinions are my own!

first and foremost, George the racoon is the best character in the entire series and i take no criticism 😍😍
and now to the serious part: i really enjoyed it but i think it's my least fave of the series. there is WAAAAAY too much love talk and banter that sometimes it gets tiring. also the romance developed way too fast even tho the MCs have loved each other for years, like it didn't make that sense than with the couple in the 2nd book. i felt like there were scenes missing because they mentioned things but i didn't know when they happened?? idk it was weird. but it made me smile, the characters are amazing as always and Cian's development was worth it. i wish we had more of Glenna but oh well 😭
can't wait for the fourth book, i had totally forgotten who was going to be the protagonist but when he showed up in this one i remembered. the world, amazing as usual. it made me laugh so much with how random it was sometimes. didn't hate it but it wasn't my fave

“The Heartbreak Show” by Jesikah Sundin was such an original and interesting read! It’s part of her Bound by Ravens world, and it’s Cian Merrick and Glenna Lonan’s story.

I’ve always loved how unique this world is, and I was really excited to start reading another book in this series. And Cian and Glenna’s romance was definitely worth the read!

I feel like even though Cian and Glenna had a lot of obstacles in their way, they had this kind of undeniable chemistry that meant their relationship was inevitable.

Their relationship is full of hilariously flirty banter, but then they had moments that made me want to cry because of how intense and powerful they were.

Jesikah Sundin never disappoints, and I’m glad I finally got a chance to read this story that was somehow both lighthearted and full of laughter as well as heartfelt and emotional.

This itched my brain just right.

I love the world that Jesikah Sundin has created. The tension between Cian and Glenna was everything. I love how much they cherished each other. I really love the openness and acceptance that the entire tribe had for Cian.

The humour was on point. And George and the other animal familiars are everything. If there’s another book in this world, sign me up.

Not to be dramatic but my soul loves Jessikah’s writing. A love story which is just that - a story about how love has no bounds. Loving the individual and feeling safe. The audio narration is fantastic with the accents! Oh how we all needed to hear Cain and Glenna’s story! Bets!

The Heartbreak Show is the 3rd book in the night market series. The narrators Stewart Crank and Kitty Geddes do an amazing job of bringing the characters Cain and Glenna to life and they use Irish accents. This cozy romantasy and was so heartwarming. I personally felt like the characters accepted each other for who they are and support each other.
This book has it all: touch him and die, witty banter, fated mates, and a fluffy Raccoon named George just to name a few!

If you’re looking for a feel good story, check out The Heartbreak Show!! Such a great book, but please note that this isn’t a standalone. There are spoilers for Bound By Ravens and The Night Market - both are on KU, and both are amazing reads! And you’ll get so much more from the story if you’ve already read BBR and TNM.

💖 After reading The Night Market, I really wanted to read more about Cian and Glenna, and this book delivers on all the laughs, swoons and cheeky thievery. George 🦝 really fought for the spotlight in this book 👢 If you do grab a copy, there really is nothing more “sunny and ridiculously chaotic as Cian, as sweet and spicy as Glenna, and as fluffy as George.” 💖

There’s excellent LGBT+ (especially trans) and traveller rep in this book - but note the CWs, there are themes of homophobia, transphobia and flashbacks of child abuse. Take care of yourselves! 🫂 Heavy themes are dealt with sensitively, and at the end of the day there is a HEA (Happily Ever After).

🎧 Also, I’m so excited that Stewart Crank and Kirsty Geddes are going to be recording the audiobook - I could hear their voices reading HBS to me while I was reading my eARC 😆 I can’t wait for them to bring their magic to the audiobook!! 💜

Just adding a note to say that the audiobook is 🔥 10/10, no notes.

The steamiest installment yet!

Man oh man did Cian AND Glenna steal my heart in this story! They were such amazing side characters in The Night Market, and they get to fully have the spotlight in The Heartbreak Show without stealing it for themselves! Seeing how both Glenna and Cian yearned for the other for such a long time, despite trying to distract with other dalliances, was cute. Their idea to bring in some money for food and supplies for Rhylen's tribe was brilliant, and definitely plays to both of their strengths. Learning about the hatred of Cian's past and the fear of always being sold was so heartbreaking. The fact that he withstood this and became such a lover and not a fighter is such a testament to his strong spirit.

We were able to see how Filena's Sight works in The Night Market, and so seeing Cian's version of his Sight in this story was great, but I wonder how he was able to stay sane with it happening so often! Plus seeing how the interference of the Sisters Three weaves into this story, not to mention cameos from Rhylen and Filena, and Finn! The one who stole my heart at the beginning of this series!

I was sent an advanced listener's copy of the audiobook, and of course Stewart Crank and Kirsty Geddes do an absolutely phenomenal job! Both were definitely much more flirty in tone to match their characters in this story, and I loved it!

Some favorite quotes:
"Lady of Man, bets." "Gent of Fem, bets."
He was a kind of beautiful that defied convention. With a masculine beauty in form and a feminine beauty of face, his soul possessing the aspects of both.
"I only know how to obsess and you would ruin me. ... If I kissed you that night or any night, I would have died of a broken heart. I would have pined for you until I wasted away to nothing."
... touching fed an addiction, seductions our game long before we turned them on each other.
I meant what I had promised him two weeks ago: I would never break his heart, but he... he could break mine.
Twice today that wee bastard had murdered the mood. Not only that, but Cian had the attention span of a bee drunk on nectar, buzzing and bumbling from one flower to another.
Break my heart, Cian Merrick. But I will never break yours...
He had nothing and gave me everything.
"Glenna," he whispered in my ear, all humor gone, "I hunger for you." Sweet goddess... "Ravenous," he practically moaned. "Starved." "Devour me," I whispered back. "I want to be consumed by you." "That's my intention." (these sultry words!)
But when he touched me, when I kissed him, our souls understood without words. I needed him. He needed me right now too.
But Cian was a lover. It wasn't in his nature to harm others. Not even those who reviled him. He winked and blew kisses instead of returning their unkindness.
"Cian Merrick, you are sunshine and laughter and chaos and cleverness and beauty and strength."
Cian murmured, "my heart is eternally undone by you."
"My obsession. My ruination."
I wasn't normally shy, but this man had given me everything--companionship when I was dying of loneliness, supplies to bake again, my own kitchen, revenue so my brother could provide for his flock, these pretty underpinnings... him.
Cian Lonan-Merrick was pure sunshine and chaos, my whole heart, the bawdy half of my soul.

If you love an adult fae romantic fantasy with flirty rivals to lovers, cozy-ish, chosen mates, rom-com but make it fantasy, witty banter, touch him and die, feral for him, glamorous Victorian fashion, Irish mythology, fluffy raccoons, chaos and whimsy, and smutty innuendos, then read (or listen to) The Heartbreak Show!

I received an advanced listener's copy from the author. This review contains my honest opinion and is being left voluntarily.

Maybe actually 2.5 stars? This took me longer to read than I’d expected. For a while I didn’t understand enough of what was going on, and even once I did understand better, it seemed sort of pointless? I think the point was more psychological growth and freedom for Cian than anything more concrete, and I didn’t even understand that aspect until I got to the end. I mean, I understood that it was present as I was reading, but I hadn’t understood it as the primary point of the quest Cian gets sent on.

I really liked Raven Bound and The Night Market, so I was a little disappointed I didn’t just adore this one. But I didn’t feel the tension so much. The two main characters are already in love, already making love. Their reasons for not being more formal about it…are thin to begin with, and only get thinner with time. Then they get married before Cian goes off on a portion of his quest that might or might not be dangerous. But unlike the bondings in both Ravens and Night Market, there isn’t really any safety related reason for them to marry when they do. Cian is supposed to have some sort of reservations about sticking only to Glenna? That are supposed to be cured or to go away when he completes this quest? Except he marries her without qualms before commencing the main part of the quest. So maybe I misunderstood either that aspect of the quest or his feelings and reservations or something? I don’t know. Then Glenna’s longing turns from a hopeless longing to be married to Cian into a hopeless longing to be physically with Cian, because their species of elves/fae/raven folk don’t separate right after bonding. Anyway, it was sort of a muddle, and that’s only one small part of it.

Here’s what I did like. The nonbinary rep. Nonbinary is an interesting term that covers a LOT of territory from people who find even the term “nonbinary” to be too confining and pronouns “they” and “them” too limiting, perhaps, all the way to Cian who states he’s fine with “he” and “him” as he always feels like a lad even when he’s dressing and acting and also feeling like a lass, and everything in between and maybe some things beyond that I haven’t been exposed to yet. So, there need to be lots of books and stories to represent all the aspects of that label. And I liked Cian from the Night Market, and his relationship with Glenna and with the other males in particular, in his tribe. Cian is seriously, seriously hurt and messed up by the judgement and condemnation of one person - his father - from his childhood. He has always had his mother and sister’s acceptance, and from what I can tell, enjoys unheard of acceptance from his foster brother Rhylen and all the males in their friendship group. So, I think it’s delightful to have an on page portrayal of males openly accepting and showing affections toward other males who may be straight, gay, bi, identify as male, identify as female, identify as both or neither. I think that’s uplifting. And I think it’s sad, but realistic and validating to see how much damage one single person is capable of inflicting on a child and how difficult it can be to overcome those internalized messages.

I think if I ever reread this story, I’ll probably try and go into it just looking at it from that perspective, as a story of Cian’s journey toward self acceptance. Nothing else made a whole lot of sense to me, though it had its moments of delight and humor. The “topping” ceremony involving plowing fields was especially madcap fun.

Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes! I was already halfway in love with Cian from reading The Night Market and I did a happy dance when I saw the author had written a book on HIM! But throughout the book, I melted and swooned and just completely adored him! This statement by him cemented my feelings firmly in place, "I loved you when I believed no one could truly love me", I just died....And George....the cutest, sweetest, snarkiest, raccoon, who has a serious problem, he's a kleptomaniac.... But gosh, first things first... The prologue was so poignant and sad in all honesty, it tells a bit of Irish lore, so very very fascinating, it made me want to discover more of this lore!

Cian is seductively gorgeous, feck, he's a god/goddess offspring for goodness sake, with all the wiles at his disposal and uses his charming looks and easy banter to full advantage. Not his heart mind, that's reserved for a very special someone he pines over, but he can't, he just can't hand his heart over. His traumatic past stifles him from doing so, his fear puts brakes on his wants. Oh how my heart yearned for him, as much as his did for Glenna. The banter between them is divine and comical, it conceals their true feelings through jest and boy did the author do this fabulously! I love her way with words, an ease with which a tapestry woven by her very capable hands, had me eating out of her hand, lapping up every crumb along the way. The incredible characters, so full, so meaty, so personable, not only Cian, Glenna and George, but the side characters who shine too. I was beyond excited to even see Finn appear, like REALLY excited! I loved the mystery of finding elusive items, for an even more elusive task, that seemed quite wacky and impossible but when tasked by the Maiden herself, one listens, one hears and one does.

I can't tell you how much fun this book was, you need to read it to appreciate it's magic, Cian is such fun, what he gets up to is such fun, George is such fun, their combined shenanigans are such fun! But it's not all light and breezy, there are real issues, real problems that need solving. Ms Sundin blends them together beautifully, so one minute I'm laughing and giggling, the next I'm as distraught as can be. What a beautiful tale, of new beginnings, of coming into one's own, of relinquishing past pains, of embracing all one's meant to be, of not shying away but of grasping one's destiny, of facing ones fears and of accepting oneself. With the oomph of the Maiden, the Mother and the Crone to add more sparkles to an already effulgent story, dazzling, just dazzling! And guess who else is dazzling? Cian is! He dazzles my senses and emotions with his selflessness, he does what he can to help the newly established tribe, he does what he can to get Glenna what she needs, all the while fighting his inner demons. Boy oh boy, one could cut the sexual tension with the lightest of touches! And what a way to end a book! Good golly utterly unexpected and fantabulous! As was this book, fantabulous!

“Not all heroes wear armor,” I murmured. Taking in her newer skirt and bodice, the shiny black ribbon in her long golden hair, I whispered, “Some wear dresses.”

The Heartbreak Show is one of those books that wove it’s way into my soul and took hold of my entire being in the complete best of ways! It’s a story about understanding and accepting one’s true self. We all have those hidden parts of our being that we fight to protect and yet bury within ourselves. Pieces of ourselves that we don’t want to acknowledge because then maybe others will recognize it and determine that we are unworthy of joy, hope, happiness…love. So we hide it away and bury it to the deepest recesses of ourselves. This is a story about discovering that we all deserve to be our true, beautiful, unhidden selves and we deserve to be loved and appreciated unconditionally despite or rather, because they make us who we are.

And this lesson was wrapped up and presented to us in the form of a sweet! Swoony! Very spicy! Completely outrageous and absolutely hilarious! Fae Romance about a human who learns he is both God and Goddess and it is up to him to help save his Fae Brother’s new tribe, all the while, wooing the Fae of his dreams, realizing and accepting his birthright, and embracing all aspects of himself that he was abused and ridiculed for in his youth.

I absolutely loved everything about this book! From the perfectly written characters that were all multifaceted and completely realized, to the humor and romance, from the sweet and swoony moments to the deliciously spicy scenes, and finally the beautiful and heartwarming message that is so meticulously and deeply woven throughout, The Heartbreak Show is Romantasy perfection!

So yep…I very highly recommend this continuation of The Bound by Ravens universe. It was “udder” geniusness wrapped up in humor and laugh out loud moments, magic, mayhem, and romance.

To be honest, I had mixed feelings about this companion novel.

The Heartbreak Show focuses on Cian and Glenna’s story, I was excited to get to read this book after enjoying their characters and sassy comments in the previous book, The Night Market.

What I love about this novel is the lovely characters and their adorable familiars!
The important theme of acceptance is well-portrayed through Cian’s journey, as he grapples with his fears, his magic, and his unexpected true identity.

However, I found Cian’s quest confusing at the beginning. It took until the end for me to fully understand it, which slightly diminished my enjoyment of the book.
The romance also lacked the burning spark; I didn’t feel the chemistry between Cian and Glenna as much as I did with the previous couples in this series.

If you’re looking for something unique with adorable familiars, chosen mates, a found family and loveable characters then give this one a try.
But be warned — some events happened in this book will spoil for the previous two books, so I highly suggest reading those first before diving into this one.

I received an advanced review copy from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

⚠️ 𝐓𝐖: themes of homophobia/transphobia, child abuse, sexual content.
A complete list of content considerations can be found on the author’s website.

I listened to this one as an audiobook. The narrators were such a perfect fit for this series! I loved the natural feeling of their back-and-forth banter. Their accents, along with the Celtic folklore and mythology throughout the book, were a seamlessly wonderful addition.

I absolutely loved this story! It was so much fun to read with Cian's sunshine personality and the hilarious ranchy humor!
I loved Cian and Glenna in The Night Market and was so excited to see this side of their story. Their steamy tension and flirty humor had me captivated from the beginning. They have such a genuine, wholehearted love for each other that was so refreshing to read. I loved seeing Cian's vulnerability; it made his character so authentic. His journey of self-discovery and facing his fears was utterly moving.
I also really enjoyed the dynamic of their friend group. Their rowdy pranks and jokes were hilarious. 😂 George was absolutely adorable and might be one of my favorite familiars of the whole series with his humorous antics. ❤🦝
I reveled in all of the connections to the other books in the series as each of their stories were woven together! And loved seeing my favorite characters make reappearances!

She's done it again. The ending was so beautiful I was tearing up! 😭❤

Thanks so much to the author for the ALC!

Now I must say this review is going to be short and sweet because I loved this story and I adore these characters but every aspect of The Heartbreak Show feels like it could be a spoiler for Bound By Ravens and The Night Market. Both of which are amazing and can be read in KU. I will state this as well The Heartbreak Show is not a standalone it is a companion to The Night Market and contains spoilers, I think it’s also important to check the content/trigger warning for this book as there are some things mentions or alluded to while mostly off page that could be triggering.

What I will say about The Heartbreak Show though is that if you’re looking for stunning characters, hilarious banter, raw emotions, LGBTQ representation, animal familiars, a plot line that will keep you swooning and on your toes, and a fated mates romance between two characters who want each other and will go to the end of the world to protect and cherish one another but who are forbidden to be together and who also have a bit of trauma they need to work through, oh and top it all off with an adorable happily ever after and this is a book that is not to be missed!

HAPPY READING 📖

Jesikah Sundin once again proves her mastery of language and emotion in The Heartbreak Show. With prose that feels almost enchanted—lush, lyrical, and deeply immersive—she draws readers into a world where heartbreak is as dazzling as it is devastating. Sundin’s writing doesn’t just tell a story; it casts a spell. My heart both broke for Cian and the insecurities he had, and soared for the love between him and Glenna.

What’s truly impressive is how The Heartbreak Show, while a standalone, still resonates with threads of connection to her other novels. Characters glide through each other’s stories like constellations in the same sky—each independent, yet glowing brighter for being part of a larger universe. The way their paths echo and intertwine adds depth for returning readers without alienating new ones.

Though a few pacing lulls kept this from a full five stars, the emotional core and stunning writing more than make up for it. Sundin’s talent for crafting beautifully flawed characters and infusing every scene with raw vulnerability makes this a show worth watching—and feeling—through to the end.

A must-read for fans of lyrical storytelling and interconnected lives.

The new novel from Jesikah Sundin is set in the Bound by Ravens universe and follows the story of Cian and Glenna.

Please be warned there are spoilers for both Bound by Ravens and The Night Market in this book. If you haven’t already, go read them. I promise you won’t regret it :)

Cian and Glenna’s story was so sweet and I enjoyed getting a closer look after TNM. George also makes several appearances which is absolutely delightful.

As usual, Sundin’s books are filled with whimsy and careful attention to folklore. I love how she weaves Irish culture into this book and I think it really enhances the story. There is also plenty of cheeky fun to go along, as well as a heavy dose of romance.

There are some heavier subjects in the book but they are all spoken about with class and tact. The style of Sundin’s writing also assists with weaving themes like these flawlessly into the story.

I loved it and thank you so much to Jesikah for the ARC! Releases everywhere on November 21.

If Glenna wont say it, I will, Cian is a “6” God!! (keeping it clean) Because he is! Swoon worthy, fashionista, cheeky God at that! He stole my heart in The Night Market, while George stole the red boots!! Turns out these boots are more than just hideous, they are key to finding Glas Gaibhnenn! At least, one of three mysterious keys, and a riddle, given to Cian by his Great Aunt – if you’ve read the Night Market, you know who this is.

So much going on in The Heartbreak Show, so much to enjoy, giggle over, and swoon over – yep, it is nicely spicey! And yes, I was yelling out “finally”! You know if you know! Oh and now I dream of snuggling up with Sheila too!

Beautifully linked to The Night Market, The Heartbreak Show is the third in the Bound by Ravens series. A series that is best read in order, because yes, each book gives a part of the earlier story. And while you’re at it, get a hold of the audiobooks – trust me, you’ll thank me!

I loved this stoey so much, my favorite characters from the series my favorite we familiar George... There is just so much to lovw in this book and ohhhhh i took it all in.

So balanced... So deep and meaningful but so funny and cute. It was all in one book i couldn't stop bwing in but at the same time i didn't want to finish cause i didn't want to reach an ending of it... You definitely made it for my favorite characters 🥰

My favorite book of the series for sure (i mean how can it not be when we have we glove thief George 🤭 and Cian duo all the way)

Love the banter, the bets, the playfulness and how in all this we had the sweet and deep story and the growth of the characters all this together to make an amazing story.

I know this was supposed to be a short novela but started growing and i question how this coukd ever not be a full book 😍 we need every page of it.

I became a Sundin fan after reading “The Night Market”. After reading “The Heartbreak Show,” I'm a hopeless addict. The main character, Cian, is such a breathtakingly tender soul, he shows us what true beauty really is. Don’t be fooled by the gorgeous exterior, what lies beneath is even more awe-inspiring. And baker Glenna is his perfect mate, keeping Cian’s goodness popping on a hot stove, evading any saccharine. This novel takes the steam up several notches from “Bound by Ravens,” but the force of Cian and Glenna’s sexual natures makes the more explicit exploration of their love feel organic. Sundin’s delightful prose and immersive world building grabbed me by the hand and transported me to a magical world I didn’t want to leave. Don’t miss this series!

A big thank you to Jesikah Sundin for the audiobook ARC of The Heartbreak Show. I was so excited to finally read Cian and Glenna’s story after the other Night Market books. Their gender fluid characters are so vibrant and interesting. I will say, this book didn’t pull me in the same want Bound by Ravens or the Night Market did. I think the audiobook narrators did a really nice job, but the story felt like there wasn’t enough conflict honestly. It was almost too easy, if that makes sense. I love the characters (George especially) but the story could’ve had more flavor. Still recommend for those who love this series, but unfortunately, this was my least favorite of the 3 books thus far.

Another Ravens escapade! What a fun little novella 🥰🥰 Just a warning, you DO have to have read The Night Market before diving into this one!!
I really enjoyed Cian and Glenna's relationship and how they handled any hardships thrown their way. The story was really fun and I enjoyed every second! These are some of my favorite audiobooks because the narrators do SUCH A GOOD JOB at immersing you in the story 💜

This series of standalone romances with interconnections between the characters makes my heart so happy. I love the banter. The innuendo is uproarious. The characters endearing. This particular friends-to-lovers story is heartwarming. And I absolutely adore how the author explores androgyny and bisexuality through Cian. I liked this character in previous volumes, but absolutely adored getting to know him and exploring the world through his mind. Glenna is the perfect partner, and together their cross-dressing shenanigans made me laugh so much. This author really has a knack for examining deeply painful and personal experiences with both sensitivity and humour.

Without a doubt, this is one of my favourite romantasy series!

I am definitely going to have to read this series more than once to get all the characters and events clear in my mind.

While this one was still very enjoyable I think I preferred the first two. Cian was absolutely adorable and I loved his journey of self acceptance and discovery. Glenna was pretty sweet if a smidge underdeveloped. Overall I think it was the constant banter that made it less enjoyable than the first couple books. It wasn't just the 2 main characters either it seemed like nearly every gathering of 3 or more main characters turned into a banter fest and that got old super quickly.

Still a very enjoyable read and I will definitely be re-reading it at some point in the future along with any other stories the author publishes in the world.
