‘Sitcom Affairs’ is a brilliant debut novel by Judy Roberts. It’s a contemporary romance which offers a compelling exploration of female friendship, personal growth, and the complexities and pressures of modern life, as it follows the lives of three working women.
We join the trio of colleagues, Ellie, Alex, and Jess on their Dorset weekend retreat from their day jobs to write their next award-winning sitcom.
We are quickly pulled into their lives and idiosyncrasies, only to guess at how they’ll react to the new cast characters they encounter during their week-long stay at their agent’s country cottage. Enter Tom, their dashing new neighbour, Richard, his mysterious brother and their enigmatic high-society friend, Camilla.
Ellie, the protagonist, grapples with her challenging family life and seeks consolation in alcohol, only to find herself in an unexpected romance that forces her to confront her choices.
