Fatal Promises: The Bad Legacy Series Book 2

Rate this book
Flor’s secret attraction to her on-duty partner comes second to hunting down criminals. Until, criminals decide to hunt her back, and he decides to stand in their way.

Flor's In Case of Emergency has always been Officer Manny Ruiz, but she's not ready for more than friends. Besides, they're cops. They can't afford the complications of a relationship. Still, it's hard to keep her desires secret when a life-or-death problem emerges from the shadows of her past.

After a million-dollar bounty is put on the head of Flor's bail jumping, con-artist mother, she becomes the focus of rabid bounty hunters certain she’s hiding something. Determined to find her mom and prove her innocent, she makes a deal with one of those bounty hunters, never suspecting he’s the wealthy, handsome, and dangerous man behind the global hunt.

Manny Ruiz knows Flor has gotten under his skin. On his skin too, so says the flower tattoo he had placed on his chest for her. When danger begins to hunt Flor from every corner, he offers to be her ride-or-die, but she stubbornly resists. To help save her life, he'll have to prove to her he's the only man for the job.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Fatal Promises continues Diana Munoz Bad Legacy series. I'm this installment Munoz delivers an emotional and entertaining friend to lovers' romance. With its themes of mental health and emotional trauma It will appeal to readers seeking a suspenseful and action-packed tale that features relatable characters.

Fatal Promises gives us Flor and Manny's story with The Great One at the center of the evil and danger dogging their steps. Readers who read Broken Promises would have met Flor already. In book 1, one learns she's a police officer while book 2 explore her past and the reason she's on the infamous kill list. Flor is determined to find her mother to learn the truth behind The Great One's fixation. She intends to do so on her own, however her partner and friend Manny has no intention of letting her go it alone.

Manny and Flor shared a long history of friendship with both harboring romantic feelings for the other. While their friendship remained strong, they never pursued the romantic feelings. Although, Manny desires more, Flor fears taking their relationship beyond friendship. She suffered physical and emotional trauma in the past which contributed to her keeping persons at distance. With this looming threat, Flor seeks to overcome her fears while trying to prove her mother's innocence and prevent The Great One from carrying out their evil plan.

Unlike the previous book, Fatal Promises focused more on the relationship between the protagonists. Also, attention was given to struggles Flor dealt with from her past trauma. I enjoyed seeing her work through her pain and opening up herself to a solid romantic relationship with Manny.

The identity of The Great One still remains a mystery. Their manipulative skills shined through once again as they found the perfect patsy.

Once again while the romantic thread has closure, the suspense thread leaves readers with questions. Fatal Promises was a great addition to the series. Well plotted, Fatal Promises was difficult to put down and it definitely left me wanting more.

I really enjoyed Fatal Promises! I adored both main characters, the plot and mystery/suspense interwoven. Flor was such a badass- she fought for herself and those she loved with a ferocity and protectiveness. She believed in her mum always and put herself on the line to prove that. We saw Flor relieve her trauma and the lasting effects it had had on her. It was heartbreaking but also healing to see how she progressed with Manny. I loved Manny too! He was such a protective man but also understood that what Flor didn’t need was protection but for someone to stand beside and fight with her instead and he did that. The trust and love they held for one another was plain to see. Not gonna lie i still hold a grudge against some of Manny’s family especially Carmen and i don’t think theres much she could do to redeem herself to me. The rest of Manny’s family was okay. I adored these 2! Can’t wait to see more of them and can’t wait for book 3!

Who do you trust when it appears everyone wants something from you, and some are okay with hurting you to get what they want. This is a riveting original story with wonderful characters, drama, terror and so much more. I loved this story, it’s well written, fast paced, suspenseful and captivating. Diana Munoz Stewart at her finest.

What an incredible book! I was so invested in Flor and Manny. The book is filled with tension and angst. I had such empathy for Joaqúin. He is such a troubled man. There are tons of twists and turns. I enjoyed following the clues that kept me rapidly turning the pages. The writing is fantastic. I was sucked deep into this book.

I got hooked on this book! The story about Flor’s mom pulled me in right away. I loved how patient Manny was with Flor, giving her the space she needed to work through her issues, even though he wanted to protect her.

The storyline with Jaoquin and Pedro was really well written and such a surprise!

I can’t wait to read the other stories!

The twists just kept coming with Fatal Promises!
The second book in Diana Muñoz Stewart’s Bad Legacy Series follows Flor and her longtime best friend and partner, Manny. The intricacies of their relationship, commitment to each other, and love for each other was real and easy to connect with. The banter throughout the book provided some needed light hearted moments throughout this suspense. Pasteles war, that’s all I’ll say.
The suspense will keep you on your toes. Although this is the second in the series and builds off of book 1, Broken Promises, you won’t feel lost starting the series here. I wasn’t, but I still can’t wait to go back and read the first book.

Diana Muñoz Stewart has written a strong edition to her Bad Legacy series with “Fatal Promises.” The book follows “Broken Promises,” which introduced readers to The Great One, a mysterious online persona that has been delivering disturbing missives to their followers for years on the dark web. The story continues in this second book in the series. We met one of the main characters, Flor, in the first story, and this time around she is joined by her long-time friend Manny. The two have a long history and Manny would love for their story to progress from friends to lovers but Flor is resistant. She’s been through hell and holds everyone at a distance. A threat to Flor forces the two to confront their feelings while trying to protect Flor. I felt like this story was a great deal more romance than suspense. The thread of suspense was woven through the story, but it wasn’t until at least two-thirds of the way through the book that the suspense really kicked into gear. But the love story between Flor and Manny was so compelling that I wasn’t upset the suspense took a bit of a back seat. Flor was a strong, tough woman and Manny was her perfect match. And I loved their honest communication and commitment to one another. As with “Broken Promises” we are given glimpses into the overarching story that draws all these women together, but while Flor and Manny’s story is wrapped up there is still much more to learn about the threat the women face. And after reading “Fatal Promises” I am eagerly awaiting the next book. Muñoz Stewart has created a compelling series. Highly recommended.

In Fatal Promises, Diane Munoz Stewart continues her Bad Legacy series with Flor's story. Flor is a cop in Puerto Rico, along with her best friend and secret crush, Manny. She is broken due to the terror she lived through as a teen, and does not feel she can give Manny what he deserves. When The Great One, a secret evil manipulator, puts a target on her back to draw her mother out, Manny will not stay on the sidelines of her life anymore. The action is fast and furious, and Flor learns to deal with her brokenness and realizes she deserves happiness. The evil happening is temporarily defeated as Flor and Bryan work together and learn to love and accept each other completely, flaws and all. This series gets better and better. I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Not for the "faint of heart!" Flor has a million dollar bounty on her head and she needs to find her mother, who disappeared 10 years prior. Flor is labeled a "bad seed" after her mother was accused of stealing from the people of Puerto Rico and vanishing.
Flor has "Demon Sisters" who are also on the Kill List, because of the transgressions of their mothers.
It seems to her partner Manny, that he's the only one who can keep her safe.
This is a thriller that will keep you turning pages and all the lights in the house on. The reader is taken into an underworld and the dark web, that few of us are aware exists.

Great storyline and intriguing characters.

When cop Flor and her criminal mother are put on a hit list by a serial killer, she and her partner Manny do everything they can to catch him.

Danger, suspense, action and a fast paced read. The attraction between Manny and Flor is mostly in her part. But when she soon finds out it is mutual but kind of forbidden.

The connection as cops carries through in their relationship though and that chemistry has spice.

Very well done, this is a great read and an exciting plot.

Diana Muñoz Stewart brings all the romance and suspense she normally does to Fatal Promises. It was riveting!

This is a second chance romance that brings together Flor Marie and Manny. It deals with overcoming trauma and abandonment. I absolutely love how the characters in this series are interconnected and can’t wait to see where it will go from here.

As per usual, Diana Muñoz Stewart alludes to a happy ending, but leaves enough unresolved to keep her readers hooked and longing for the next installment. I can’t wait!

Fatal Promises by Diana Muñoz Stewart is such a fast-paced and exciting book. I was at the edge of my seat, especially in the second half of the story. It is such a page turner and the main characters, Flor and Manny have a lot to do witn this. They are wonderful and well-developed characters. Flor had a traumatic past and Manny just wants to be there for her. I loved their relationship. It was lovely and the chemistry between them made me want to have some more of them as MCs.

The first book had me up till the early hours reading it as I coudn't walk away from it so was excited to see not only to read Flo's story after meeting her in Broken Promises but also if I would be as hooked on this book ..... and yes, yes I was!
The mystery, suspense and danger is interwoven around the romance that starts to bloom between Flo and Manny as they try to find more answers to the storyline that began with Felicity and her mother.
I am eagerly awaiting the next book and think I will re read both the first and second book before starting the third as they are soo good!

I got the ARC of this book. I loved the relationship between the 2 main characters . The arc in the series is getting so interesting on top of the story of the individual books .
The mystery in this one was 2 folds , who is the BIG bad guy and what is going on with the antagonist.
I did feel at couple of place like why would you do that you are a cop

Holy moly!! Wow! There were so many twists and turns and little clues dropped throughout. And yet the relationship stories and the romance were not sacrificed. Somehow, I missed the first book in the series (which I must rectify) but was not lost at all. So it can be read as a stand-alone. However, there seems to be a story arc that will be continued throughout.

A solid 4.5 stars for this book. Just when I thought I had it figured out, there was another twist. I loved that the characters from the previous book made appearances in this one. I enjoyed the banter between the two main characters and the chemistry wasn’t too bad either!

I am leaving my review in exchange for an ARC.
