Immoral Cravings: A Dark Fairytale Retelling

Rate this book
Venari believes she’s the definition of wild until she meets Wilder.

He’s aggressive, unyielding, and the sole person with enough grit to protect her from unforeseen enemies… even if he has to hold her captive to do so.

Now, she’s stuck in his depraved hands.

His actions are immoral, but she begins craving him more than she fathomed imaginable... even more than the freedom she once believed she yearned for.

Let’s take a ride to the dark side. It’s refreshing to see this type of “Dark” unhinged writing in a black author usually it’s in white books iykyk 😏. Wilder and his Bowie knife stole the show. I like the fairytale retelling when done right it was Dark, Sexy and Dirty 😈.

“I can’t figure you out, but you’re nothing like I expected you to be.” “I know because I’m so much f*cking better, Venari. I’m the full package. The man your filthy little dreams are made of.”

Immoral Cravings lived up to its name and the way Antoinette masterfully penned this story has me appreciating her range as an author even more than I already have. It goes without saying that she is one of if not my favorite author and the way she delivered her depiction of a dark romance was everything! Like there aren’t too many authors that I will defend down but she is one of them. She can do no wrong in my eyes so be prepared to tussle behind her.

Now that that’s out of the way 😅 Venari and Wilder!!!! These two were 😈🤯😳😬🫦👅🪢🔥💦⛓️🔪!!! Their story was a retelling of Snow White and the seven dwarfs only we have 7 dogs. Venari is the spoiled “princess” to one of the most notorious crime families known and is drowning in plain sight. The one person that you would expect to notice is too concerned with saving his empire and with very few people (one) advocating for her and her well being she is left to be slaughtered by “wolves”.

She finds herself in the crosshairs of Wilder and despite everything telling him to run for the hills or shall I say the woods, Venari becomes the main attraction in the circus that is known as his life. He did everything in his power to fight what he’s known all along and that’s the fact that Venari belongs to him and he has no problem making an example out of anyone that is living in delusion believing otherwise.

Let me say that Wilder needed to be on that lady’s couch with a prescription to match. I don’t even know if the word unhinged can accurately label who he was and the shenanigans he was into. Him and that knife got me every single time. I know his behavior is not shocking to those that read dark romance by other non melanated authors but 🗣️FOR ME!!! This was new and…. Wow 🤯. This man was really a “walk it like I talk it” 🥷!!

💙 It was the bike shop scene for me 😳😳
💙 It was the scene in the woods for me 😳😈
💙 It was the scene after the grocery story for me 😳😳😳
💙 It was the “babies” for me 🖤
💙 It was the basement for me 😳🥴🫠

Just know there were a lot of “IKYFL’ings” and “well damns” that rang out while reading this book. Antoinette knew I needed this book to revitalize my love for reading aka get me out of a slump and it was just what the doctored ordered. 4.5💫’s

Wild Love

🎵🎶"I just wanna say, you're mine, you're mine
Fk what you heard, you're mine, you're mine
All I'm really asking for is you (yeah)
You're mine, you're mine"🎵🎶

That is the song I imagine played in Wilder's head whenever he thought about Venari. As much as he wanted to fight it, she had a hold on him and he didn't want her to let go.

Venari was the Blanco Family Princess and to her that title was stifling and came with more losses than her heart could take. She leans into her wild adrenaline chasing antics just to feel something. She is unseen by her father and her stepmother is as fraudulent as they come. The last time she felt cared for was at the hands of Wilder, but he paid her no mind for years. That is until fate brings them together unexpectedly.

Wilder is the ultimate protector of his family and the enforcer in the streets. He was a helicopter brother with the way he hovered over his sister, hoping to protect her from both herself and others. He was hella unhinged and I loved every bit of it 🤭 He didn't play about Venari at all despite all of the ish he was on, she was HIS period.

I enjoyed so many things in this story, but most of all it was feeling Wilder fall for Venari. His azz fell so hard he would try to stay away from her to tamper down his feelings. She didn't shy away from his darkness and even when he was extreme she seemed to wonder if she could push him just a little farther what the reward would be. Crazy AF. The scene in the forest after he low-key threw a tantrum, I knew then he was putty in her hands. Everything about that scene was sexy af. Ultimately he was willing to sacrifice everything for his princess, and that craving they had for one another was felt.

I liked the retelling and the loose similarities between Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I loved the names of the dogs and their personalities. I appreciate the consistency of goodness Antoinette gives us!

Wilder 🏍️ 🔪

What type of story can’t Antoinette Sherell write? Her pen is so versatile and I haven’t read anything written by her yet that I didn’t enjoy. Wilder and Venari’s story was dark and passionate. I was here for it 👏🏾 🥵

‘Heavy is the head that wears the crown.’

Being the only living child to the head of the Blanco Crime Family is a heavy burden to carry. After the death of his wife and son, Baccarat is constantly paranoid for the safety of his daughter so, Venari is forced to have 24-hour security and, virtually, no privacy. With the death of her brother, finding a successor for the family business has now become Venari’s responsibility. Unfortunately for her, this comes in the form of an arranged marriage. Something she was promised she would never have to partake in. But, with no male heir to pass the business down to and a nephew who refuses to be a part of the family criminal organization, Venari is forced to marry so Baccarat can merge his business with another crime family. This is just another choice that has been taken from her and Venari is sick and tired of constantly being unseen and not heard.

Wilder is a man of mystery and, no one can figure him out. He owns an auto body shop and he’s the member of a biker gang but, most importantly, he’s also an enforcer for the Blanco Crime Family. Wilder likes to keep his two worlds separate so, he built a house that mimics a warehouse deep in the woods where no one can find it unless you’re invited. And, if you’re not family, Wilder ain’t handin’ out invitations. Life comes at you fast when your two worlds unexpectedly collide. After hearing a loud crash, he goes to investigate and what does he find?!!! Baccarat Blanco’s only child passed out on his property. This shyt was not on his vision board when he woke up that morin.’ Seeing the bruises around her throat is a clear indication to Wilder that somethin’ more than just a car accident occurred and, he plans to keep the pampered princess until he can figure out who tried to hurt Venari.

I’m a diehard junkie for a fairytale retelling and Immoral Cravings was more than worth the wait. I thought the author did a phenomenal job penning a modern-day version of Snow White as a dark romance. She stayed true to the original fairytale but, gave us plenty of extra razzle dazzle to keep us entertained. I absolutely loved the Rotties as the seven dwarfs. Won, Dos, Trio, Pho, Phive, Syx, and Sevyn did what needed to be done. Some may say Wilder was unhinged but, I think unhinged is too light of a word to describe this man. Honestly, Wilder was this close 🤏🏾 to being abusive. The way he kept grabbin’ and puttin’ his hands on Venari had me givin’ his azz some strong side eye. 😒😒😒😒 Prince Charming he was not but, Wilder rode hard for his lil troublemaker and he was ready to burn Grimm Wood City down behind his princess. Immoral Cravings lived up to the hype and I have not one single complaint. If fairytale retellings are your jam, I highly recommend you add this book to your end of the year TBR.

A Dark retelling of Snow White with the 7 dwarfs being 7 killer dogs!!!!

Wilder Lord, lived up to his NAME in this book because he was indeed a WILD CARD. We didn’t know if he was going to gut someone with one of his knives, or burn someone’s skin off their face with motorcycle tires 🫣😬. As the enforcer for the Blanco crime family, he is paid to make problems go away & does it with ease due to his lack of emotions! That is until one night he stumbles upon the daughter or “princess” of the Blanco crime family Venari Blanco in a life or death situation & becomes her savior or captor (however you wanna look at it). I lost count of the amount of people he almost bodied behind her! The banter between these 2 was 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾! Athough Wilder wasn’t one to be played with, Venari NEVER backed down from him!!

I can say that off top of my head, I have nothing to compare this book to, but I enjoyed this story! Have you ever read a book, or a genre that made you ask yourself “sis, is you okay!?” Now, I need to read more “dark romance” for research purposes 😂🤣🤣! Nonetheless, I do feel that we need to get Wilder’s sister Willows story because she went through it!

I really enjoyed this book and loved everything with the exception of typos and misspellings. This was dark romance done right. I definitely recommend.

Wilder was a great choice in name for the MMC, because my boy was wild and severely unhinged. I’m surprised he didn’t have a diagnosis. My man did some things unimaginable but I guess that’s why we read, to fantasize about all the things we probably wouldn’t or couldn’t accept in real life.

“It wasn’t until he killed my second crush right before my eyes a year later that I became obsessed with him. Hell, maybe in love with him like I thought I was with the man he’d slaughtered.”

Antoinette Sherell that mind of yours is something else. I have not read a dark romance and honey i didn’t know what to feel. However, i was so intrigued by what was going on i couldn’t stop reading.

Wilder is a whole plum fool and Venari behind ain’t no better. These two are a matched made in dark romance/crazy land. Wilder also reminds me of those little boys on the playground that use to hit girls and people would say “oh that just means he likes you.” Hell no lol. If you like it well i love that for you. Now the spice was cool and kinky. I love Wilder for wanting to protect Venari but that other stuff he was doing to her that didn’t involve sex was beyond me. He for sure gives ‘Touch her and you die.” Now at first i was a little slow catching the fairy tale references but they were good. I like how Sherell placed them in the story.

Lastly, the accident right before Venari got that lick back i feel wasn’t needed. At that point i wanted to get to that evil stepmother because the storyline was very good. The writing and pacing of the book was good as well. The book is worth the read.

4.5 🌟

Now, this was good! And dark romance, at that! I wasn't sure how this would be dark, then boom, Wilder does what Wilder does, lol. This man was ruthless and lived up to his enforcer title! His meeting Venari, aka Trouble, aka Princess, in the way he did definitely gave Beauty and the Beast! I loved Venari’s passion for thrill and life although it came at the expense of trying to fill a void from those she lost. Venari matched Wilders energy in a way I don't believe she knew was in her. He definitely pushed her limits at the bike shop 🥲 and in the rain 😅. The journey to their head was fun, thrilling, and stressful! I'm hoping the Wilder’s sister, Willow, gets a book soon, too! Keep the series going! Please read the CWs at the beginning because some stuff was cringeworthy even for me 😩 it is a dark romance!

4.25 🌟 MY LORD! Pun absolutely intended! I did NOT expect to enjoy this one as much as I did, let alone finish it in less than 24 hours, but that's exactly what happened and I have no regrets!!!

This dark romance with melanated characters (or urban dark romance) was MY kinda dark romance, and I should be concerned because Wilder Lord was completely unhinged morally and sexually in ways that I didn't realize piqued certain interests in me. And I'm not sure Venari knew what she was getting herself into, but I am sure that she enjoyed every bit of it, because I know I did as I lived vicariously through her! The sexual tension was so thiccccck and the payoff was dementedly glorious imo.

I really enjoy dark fairytale retellings, especially with melanated characters, and this one has become one of my favorites thus far. I only wanted it to be longer with more spice between Wilder and Venari, as well as maybe a little more of a drawn-out resolution to the Invidia and Hunt problem.

Since this was my introduction to Antoinette Sherell's work, it should be obvious that I'll definitely be reading more from this author sooner than later.

I thoroughly enjoyed Venari and Wilder. This is a fairytale retelling done right. I loved that it wasn’t just one single fairytale but a few different representations in there (IYKYK).

Venari and Wilder are kindred spirits. Twin flames. They were made for each other and were lighting up the pages with their heat! Wilder’s shenanigans had me like 🫣😶😱! Unhinged seems to be a mild description of some of his behaviour but there was a soft side to him he only reserves for his family. Venari is wild and reckless as the spoiled “princess” but once we see the depth of her character you cannot help but love her.

As I mentioned above, there were a few other fairytales mentioned in there I wonder if there will be a series or a spinoff? I need to know more about Willow!

This was a great read and good intro to this author! Excited to see what else her own can do!

This was entertaining. The morning after her 20th birthday, Venari finds herself in her underwear in Wilder’s basement, with no memory of what happened the night before. Wilder tells her he found her in the woods at the edge of his property. He decides to hold on to her until he can figure out what’s going on.

This has some good tropes: mafia, wicked (scheming) stepmother, enemies (really more like acquaintances, as he’s somewhat of a closer for her dad) to lovers. There are some spicy scenes, but not as much as I was expecting after seeing a reel for the book on TT.

If you like mafia, stubborn FMCs, hard but protective MMCs, spice, scheming stepmoms, and other dangers then you’ll probably enjoy this.

Snow White from the dark side

Ok so first for some reason I thought this was a PNR so it took me a minute to get over that it wasn’t. Then it took quite a while for this to really get and keep my attention. I’m pretty sure that’s because the pacing was kind of slow. Finally it wasn’t as satisfying as normal when the hate turned to love. So I’m actually going 3.5 here because I liked the middle to nearly the end and I can see why most readers would probably really enjoy this. I’m still getting a feel for Sherell’s work I’ve read a few things and it’s always kind “eeeeh yeah maybe”

So so so good!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, which makes me side eye myself because Wilder Lord wasn't anywhere near his rocker, but I loved him just the same. He may have had immoral cravings, but his morality was in point! Venari was a true soldier! The author gave her so many layers! I hope Willow gets a book!

needed some finesse

“Go to hell, Wilder.” “Promise to follow….” Okayyyyyyyy! Wilder was a wild boy. I honestly didn’t think he was too bad but then he turned it up a notch. Venari was a brat through and through. She’s that girl for the ending though. I didn’t quite feel immersed in the world until way later in the book. So while I did enjoy this book, it slightly missed the mark for me.

I love a good map! I wondered how the author would incorporate the seven dwarfs. That idea was cute and clever for contemporary times. Didn’t necessarily like the names. The author definitely gave a nod to multiple fairytales throughout the book. The storyline flowed but writing was choppy in some parts and could’ve used some finesse.

I read the trigger warnings but still was not prepared for how Wilder treated Venari in the beginning, all that man handling and stuff was uncomfortable to read. I have no problem with the other themes in the book (except for the bad representation of bdsm that came off as straight up abuse???) but when I read about morally gray characters I don’t want to read about how terrible he’s treating her. This was just lust…the ending gave me hope for them but I felt like there weren’t any moments of chemistry that warrants them actually ending up together. My opinion is my own and everyone should form their own, in the end the concept was there.

This was quite a different type of romance book that I'm used to. Dark romances can be great, depending on the kink. Wilder & Vaneri's relationship was super twisted, they were on the same type of time but I could not get past the degradation - I mean, it was abusive , F'ed up. I only finished because I DNF'd a previous book. The plot itself didn't really give much. A long time crush, forced proximity, securing legacy trope, meh. Can be good if done right - this didn't do it for me.

This was a creative dark retelling. I loved the changes the author did; but something just wasn’t working for me. The spice was good and the dark scenes were dark, but the relationship was flat. Besides being sexually compatible I did not believe that the leads were in love. Overall the writing was good but the plot just didn’t give.

best fairytale retelling I’ve read

This book was good good good! It’s probably the best fairytale retelling that I’ve read ever. It was naughty, it was dangerous and at the same time reminiscent of the original story. I really loved it despite the toxic nature of the story. Please note, I love me a toxic book bae! Five stars for sure.

I wanted to like this more than I did but maybe dark romance isn’t for me. I wish we could have gotten to the some realization quicker than we did Idk.
