Beth Martin has her degree in mathematics and enjoys all things numbers. She's always up for a board game. Other hobbies include playing the piano and making quilts. Although she's terrible at video games, she loves watching her husband play.
Most of her time is spent chasing her two adorable children. She also has two fluffy cats.
This escape room book was fun to solve and I liked that it came with objects you collect as you solve the puzzles. Most of the puzzles were way too hard to solve without having to look at the hints. I did like that you could get a hint for each puzzle. Overall enjoyable.
This is a very cool looking puzzle book (hardcover spiral and nice illustrations) but unfortunately the contents weren't great.
Many of the puzzles aren't intuitive and in fact you would have no clue how to solve some of them without looking at the hints since there is no context (eg. the one making use of the periodic table).
A few of the puzzles were okay. I liked the candle one, although once I got it, I realized the solution was already there in the picture.
How you progress through the story is not very clear and I found myself flipping around not sure what puzzle to do next. Some of the puzzles are insanely hard. There’s no context given so you are just looking at a sheet of paper wondering what to do next. In my case what to do next was always (always!!) flip to the hints because there was just no way to know how else to proceed. I would have loved a little more clues given on the main storyline that would have given me half a chance to answer a puzzle on my own.
