Nice follow-up
So first, I want to say this is book two in the Demons series by AD Craig. The first is My Guardian Demon. It isn't exactly necessary to read the first book My Guardian Demon to understand My Silent Demon, but I would HIGHLY recommend reading in order. Why, you say? Well, you get more background on the demons, their life, the paranormal world, and such. Plus, you get to meet Osian and his background somewhat. And you get a brief meeting of Magdalene. Finally, Onyx and Wynn are big characters in My Silent Demon, so you get to understand their relationship. So seriously, go read My Guardian Demon first, then come back here to check out the second book.
Now, onto my review. I was really excited to get more background on Osian. He is really a sweet demon. You see this in his relationship with his brother Onyx and Wynn. We start off this story quickly and immediately start to build up Magdalene's relationship with Osian. Magdalene has been having strange dreams where she 'meets' a strange guy in a cabin after running (or being chased) in the woods. Magdalene is followed up to having breakfast with her acquaintance Wynn and boyfriend Onyx. We learn there have been missing campus students when Osian comes to visit them at the cafeteria. Magdalene also sees her dream savior in the flesh for the first time. From here, their lives intertwine with a friendship between Wynn, and a relationship is budding with Osian, all the while solving the mystery of the de@d students.
My takeaway is that this was a great follow-up, but I felt it missed the mark on a couple of things. First, I never really got a good reason on why Magdalene had this 'premonition dreams'. And Osian does not talk at all. But we do not get background on this. A flashback, past conversation on his life, or such would be great character building on Osian. And we get a brief mentioning on why Osian can transport his thoughts to Magdalene, but again, it was brief, and I felt more explanation would be good. It was just said that they think it is because she is Osian's fated, that she is adapted to fit what their relationship needs.
I am looking forward to the next book in the Demons Series. I wished we had gotten an introduction on this character in a passing interaction like we got with Magdalene in My Guardian Demon into My Silent Demon. But I enjoy the world this author has built and am still looking forward to this cambion babies from Wynn and Onyx!
