Round 3 of the Games kicks off, with the best of the best from packs across the realm competing to win a territory of their own. With tensions high, it's not just tempers that are getting hot.
A dual POV, MF, wolf shifter romance with all the feels. Fated mates, enemies-to-loves, dominant alpha males and the women who drive them wild.
Reece is a steamy paranormal romance author writing wickedly wild romance. She is currently working on the shifter romance series, The Shifters of Grey Ridge and the Steel Pack Alphas.
She loves creating steamy stories about hot, growly alpha men and the women who love and torment them.
She writes for people just like her who love a little light-hearted fun with their naughty heroes and edge-of-your-seat storylines.
Wild Games continues with the Alpha Games as they reach their conclusion and ultimate final showdown. The story follows Jax, the broken, feral wolf shifter, brother of the Alpha Dean Reynolds and Camille, the fierce enforcer who’s sent to investigate the dark magic being used to sabotage the competitors.
I have been SO excited for Jax’s story, the misjudged wolf who doubts himself and his control. I really enjoyed their story, and how the overall plot line continued with the games, allowing us to see familiar characters again.
I’m already looking forward to learning more about Kain and how he establishes himself as Alpha.
I've been not so patiently waiting for this book. First of all..the cover? HOT. second, JAX? Taking Camille's scarf and wearing it? Sweet baby Jesus in a manger. And third, Camille chaining herself up in Jax's basement to prove to him she trusts him? Excuse me I'm about to faint!
Yes yes and yes.
This is the end of the alpha games, Dean Reynolds is so freaking happy about that. So we are waiting to see who will win. Camille is an enforcer, sent in to investigate some bad magic being used during the games. While she is there she and Jax realize they are fated mates but with that comes Jax feeling he doesn't deserve her and that he can't have a mate because he is unstable.
Lots of excitement and lots of great chemistry. And a happy ending for our favorite wild wolf. I wish we saw some of the characters that we know and love. Idk why Blake is there without his mate! I would've loved to have her make an appearance by his side.
Arc review - I likes this book, it was a fun easy read and who couldn’t not love Jax.
A smidge frustrating that the will they won’t they went on for a while.
I liked the conclusion to the alphas games and other books’ characters being brought in - Nathan and Maya and Blake (although his mate was missing and not mentioned).
Also liked that it looks to their future and sets up the next book.
Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Overall: Ugh. Reece Barden never fails to scratch the paranormal shifter itch for me. I am so blessed to be a part of her ARC team. Camille and Jax are two tough as nails, independent shifters. Since Jax is already struggling to control his wolf he doubts his ability to be a good mate. When he finds Camille she turns everything on its head. He can’t stop thinking and obsessing over her. Neither can his wolf. In typical fashion, the tension, plot, character development and spice are so well balanced. This book wrapped up the Alpha Games but there is a door left open and I cannot wait to see what becomes of it.
I am full Bernie Sanders once again asking you to read any book by Reece Barden. Start with this series or Alphas Savior. You won’t regret it.
Camille is trying to find a stolen magical artifact but she's also an enforcer sent to investigate the Alpha Games for a problem, so she goes to the Reynold's territory to help find the person using magic in the games for whatever purpose they are doing it.
Jax is Alpha Reynold's younger brother, his wolf is out of control most of the time, so much so that he has to be chained up at times when he can't control his wolf. All at once Jax knows that a female wolf shifter is near and that she's, his mate. But he knows he can never have a mate, broken that he is, he doesn't trust himself or his wolf enough to take a mate, so he watches her instead. But when Camille can feel him watching her, she calls to him and instead of coming to her, he retreats which hurts her and throws a cold blanket on her emotions.
Camille has already been rejected by one male who she thought was going to be her mate, she refuses to make a fool of herself with another male who doesn't want her. Camille can sense him when he gets close, but she keeps her cool when they meet face to face. She has to work with Jax since he's the one who first sensed the magic being used and informed his brother, the alpha. Them working closely together is hard for both of them since the mate bond is pulling them together.
When Dean and Camille think up a way to get the person using the stolen artifact to show themselves, it puts Camille in danger and Jax doesn't like that one bit. She puts herself in danger to find out who is behind all the drama but she and the others helping her get a huge surprise when they find out who it is.
Poor Alpha Dean Reynold's has a lot of his plate with all that going on and also trying to get the Alpha Games done and finally geta winner out of the games. He's vowed to never have the games in his territory again but other alphas are watching how the games go so they can do something similar in their territories, so this won't be the last we see of the Alpha Games.
Jas and Camille finally find a way to be together when she convinces him that he's not so broken that he doesn't deserve a mate.
I really loved Jax and Camille is exactly who he needed. He and his wolf were never in sync before because of all the abuse he suffered but once he and Camille found each other he and his wolf had to work together at times in order to help her and keep her safe.
I loved this book as much as the first two books. I've read the first two books in this series and loved them.
Disclosure: I was given an e-ARC of this book via the author but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Alpha’s Revival“ - Shifters of Grey Ridge Book 3).
The book that finally completes the games has arrived!! This one focuses on Jax and Camille as they navigate being mates with trying to capture a dangerous person who is sabotaging the games. This book wraps up everything that was left hanging from the previous books. It's hard to believe that these books almost take place simultaneously. There is so much going on, from the first book with Jamie and Dean to the second book with Wyatt and Naomi to this one with Jax and Camille. Luckily everything gets tied up pretty nicely. If you were rooting for a certain alpha, we definitely see who wins this one finally. I was not surprised by the winner and I was definitely rooting for them! Jax was going through a lot during this book and he kept things tame even though he knew that Camille was his mate. This definitely made me want to give him a good shake. Though his fears were understandable. In the end everything worked out how it was supposed to and I hope we get more from some of the characters that we met in this series.
As for the spice, there wasn't a lot really since there was some issues...So I give this book a 3 out of 5 on this spice scale. Overall, I liked this book and gave it a 3. I liked how the characters were able to work through the issues that they faced even though there was so much against them. I do wish that the spice happened sooner than it did but...I kinda understand. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the previous books in this series. If you are looking for a shifter series to start then this one is definitely a good one!
Excellent book! This continues the story of the Alpha Games, with Camille (an enforcer/investigator) coming in to try to figure out what is going on with the dark magic that is sabotaging the contestants. She arrives undercover, with only a few people knowing who she is and what she is doing there. Dean, the alpha running the games, and his beta know, but Deans brother, Jax, does not. But he is immediately drawn to Camille, and his broken, half feral wolf will do anything to be near her. But the human part of Jax will not let Camille be hurt by his wolf, because he thinks that nobody is safe with him. Camille, for her part, has been hurt before by a wolf that said he wanted her, but then threw her over when he found his true mate. So when Jax and Camille find out they are true mates, and Jax rejects her, saying it's for her safety, she is having none of it. She is going to make this wolf see that they are meant to be together or he can pound sand. The tension between these two is great! Add in the mystery and high stakes of the games, and who is trying to take out the finalists, and you get a book that I could not put down and read in one sitting!! This is a great story, with lots of spice, a FMC that is a total bad-a$$, and a broken wolf that is healed by love. I give it 4.5 stars and highly recommended. You for sure need to read this series in order, so start with Rogue Games, the first in this series.
Jax and Camille Wasn’t a good book between Jax and Camille? Yes. However, I found some inconsistencies and things not addressed in the story. There is no relationship building or meaningful conversations between Jax and his mother and recently new half brother and half sister. And what happened to Ryan? Did I miss it and read over it too quickly? Last I read was Zane was going to tell him about his father and he was then never even mentioned again. He was still in the games at that point and then he was never mentioned and they were just two finalists. And the whole thing about Jax being unstable. There was never any instances in any of the books, including this one where he showed that he was unstable. He acted no different than any of the other angry alphas throughout the other books, especially around his mate. Zane had said it towards the end that he was much better than when he met him at the beginning and the dining hall. He did nothing when he met them in the dining hall. He looked angry because someone was messing with his mate, but he did not overreact. And Zane’s father, I thought he had died because because the reading said something about his lifeless eyes and that they covered him with the blanket and then at the end, you realize he’s still alive. So I just found that there were certain connections from this series storyline and from this book that just didn’t equal out.

Wow this third book was certainly well worth the wait. It had me laughing and holding my breath in anticipation, it also had me shedding a few tears here and there. It had me hooked from the very start and it was great to see a few familiar and well loved characters returning, from Wyatt in the previous book in this series and of course Dean and Jamie and Blake Steele had to be there too and then there was a couple of older characters from the first series "Grey Ridge Pack". This a heartfelt and heart warming story with magic and secrets, action and drama, team work between competitors when Eli, Dash, Kain and Wyatt all stand in Jax's corner and show him their support and friendship when Camille's ex Raven intentionally prevokes Jax to try make him loose control. Reece has created some of the most amazing characters both good and bad throughout not just this series but all the others too and I highly recommend you read not just this series but also "Grey Ridge", "Steel Pack" and her latest series "Bear Protector", you will love them all. I can't wait for the next book "Feral Games" (Kain's story)
He’s a wolf with a broken spirit. She’s a fierce enforcer digging for the truth. Sparks fly when they meet but Jax doesn’t trust himself with her.
As tensions mount and danger lurks, they must decide what they must trust each other to work to solve the mystery of the bouts of dark magic disturbing round 3 of the Alpha Games.
Jax has always watched from afar and lived in the shadows. I loved him when meeting him in prior books of the series and was hoping he’d find a mate who would truly see his heart and protect it fiercely.
Camille is out to prove herself and her worth. I loved these two broken wolves who fight for each other and make each other whole. Their relationship is a beautiful balance of protectiveness, tenderness, and passion.
Wild Games highlights mental health themes and is an emotional story celebrating resilience and the hope for new beginnings.
Huge thanks to the author for the review copy opportunity. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Round 3 of the Alpha Games does not disappoint! This book raises the stakes in every possible way—bigger risks, deeper emotions, and a romance that absolutely smolders. Camille is everything I love in a heroine: strong, smart, and brave enough to follow her instincts even when the odds (and the wolves) are against her. And Jax… what a heartbreaking, beautifully written character. The way his pain and self-doubt collide with his protective, alpha nature makes his journey unforgettable.
The chemistry between Camille and Jax is electric from the start—raw, emotional, and perfectly paced. I loved how their connection grows out of trust and shared strength rather than just fate alone. And the world building continues to shine: the competition, the rival packs, the dangerous magic twisting through the Games—it all keeps you hooked from page one.
If you love fated-mates stories with depth, danger, and characters who truly earn their happily ever after, Wild Games delivers in spades. I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait for the next round!
The games may be over but the series is not finished with Jax’s story in Wild Games, Book 3 in the Alpha Games series.
With someone tampering with the Alpha games, Camille is brought in to see if she can figure out who is doing it but the moment she she enters the camp Jax knows she is his 😏
Jax has always been known as the damaged wolf, the one that can’t keep his wolf in check but there is so much more to Jax than meets the eye and Camille immediately sees that, no matter how much he tries to push her away for her own good.
Though it isn’t an easy ride for them as they have to work together to figure out who is hurting contestants, Jax fighting their mate bond and Camille’s ex trying to cause problems.
My heart just broke for Jax because he didn’t think he was deserving of Camille but I loved she would not give up on him and would prove to him time and time again he could control himself and would never hurt her.
I can’t wait to learn more about Kain and his past in Feral Games.
MMC Jax has demons and a traumatic past he's constantly struggling with. MFC Camille is badass investigator who has sworn off love due to past heartbreak. Both competent and good at their jobs and are driven in their own lives. I liked seeing them not only be individuals, but fit themselves into the other's life. She's the only one who sees that hes not broken but a survivor and is always supportive
There is insanely good tension and angst between the two that creates explosive chemistry. I did think there might have been a tad too much back and forth of will they or won't they, but it didn't detract from the overall plot. The spice in this was pretty steamy (he's a healer and she is injured- 🔥 🔥🔥🔥)
Suspenseful and sultry paranormal romance done well. Little bit of mystery mixed in with romance.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion etc.
'Wild Games' is the third book in the Alpha Games series. It continues with the third and final round of the alpha games. Following Aphla Reynolds's broken, rogue brother, Jax and Camille, the enforcer that has been sent to help then Alpha with a dark magically problem.
I loved this book, I enjoyed the fact that even though Jax did not partake in the alpha games, that storyline of the series continued alongside the romantic relationship between Jax and Camille. I always knew I would love Jax from the previous books in the series. He's the misunderstood, broken wolf of the pack close to being deemed feral. He definitely needs a strong, she wolf to put him in his place, and that is exactly what Camille is all about.
This book is my favourite of the series so far. The characters were loveable. The storyline had me constantly wanting more, but also never wanted it to end. There were so many plot twists that made it impossible to put my Kindle down. I highly recommend this book, but you do need to read the first two books. It can not be read on its own. This series as a whole I recommend if you love your woldshifter, fated mates, grumpy MMC tropes.
Was not sure when I started this book after eagerly awaiting it but the hook was planted very quickly. The back and front of the two main characters was amazing and to see how you realised how troubled Jax was about wanting to claim Camille but feeling not good enough for her. It showed that even in the werewolf world they have issues as well. The story was quick paced and certainly had quite a number of unexpected moments, great ending and there are a few new characters which Reece Barden may have introduced to develop other story lines. This book has made me consider going back to the beginning and re rereading the stories. The characters are well thought about and you are made to feel part of the story. This was a very enjoyable read looking forward to further books.
Reece has done it again! I love Jax! He is so strong, so determined to keep Camille, his mate safe, yet his wolf is so messed up that he thinks he can’t have her. Camille feels hurt at first thinking that her mate had rejected her. But the more she learns about Jax, the more she spends time close to him, and she realizes that Jax is not crazy, feral and too far gone. She knows he’s there and he needs her as much as she needs him. At the same time her job is to find out who is behind all the weird happenings taking place at the games. You could smell the magic! It’s dangerous for her to get too close. Good thing Jax is there to protect her, unstable or not! He won’t let anything or anyone hurt his mate!
I think Jax and Camille might be my faves after Leah and Rex from the entire shifter series. As always Reece Barden has a great way of balancing romance while weaving in an engaging plot and interesting characters. I especially love all the different pack politics and dynamics. The back and forth was a bit frustrating to read but it made sense here and there was a good payoff at the end. It was also nice to have appearances from other characters from previous books but I’m wondering why there was no mention of Zoe once again.
That being said, I’m kind of sad that the series is ending, but looking forward to the next one. I’m really hoping that someday all of Reece’s books are put back on Apple Books.
I couldn’t wait for Jax story and this does not disappoint! This story has everything, a broken hero and a strong FMC ready to fight for him. Plenty of returning characters from earlier books in this series, including the grumpy but totally loveable Dean and lots of new characters to whet the appetite who definitely need their own stories - hint hint Reece 😆 When the Grey Ridge series finished I didn’t think I would ever love another series as much but then the Steel pack books came along and I had the same issue, and then came the bears - omg I love them all!!! Cannot wait for the next instalment of the Alpha Games!
Wild Games continues the story of the Alpha Games, picking up right back into the heat of the competition. Camille and Jax make a perfect pair, and I loved seeing how Jax's somewhat feral wolf reacted to having his world shaken up by a mate bond that he never even dreamed to hope for.
Reece continues to be one of my favorite shifter romance authors! I love how these stories are connected and interwoven while still being focused on the main couple and their roles and perspective on the larger story. I adore all of her books and will continue to absolutely inhale them in one sitting the second they hit my kindle.
I was so excited to finally get to read Jax’s story and I was not disappointed. Jax is just as moody, sweet and sexy as I expected him to be. I hoped that his mate would be strong enough to deal with his self doubt and she is. Camille is strong, powerful and loyal to a fault. She is exactly what I hoped for. This book is such a good read. It has everything from true love, fated mates, action and loss. I have been completely addicted. The story excellent and does provide some closure to the Alpha Games, but also opens up new possibilities and also leaves a few breadcrumbs about what is happening next. This is a thoroughly entertaining read!
The Shifters of Grey Ridge is the series that got me into shifter books. I was glad to see some of my favorite characters return in Jax’s book. I do think you need to read the shifters of grey ridge first, then move into the Alpha Games second to fully understand what’s going on.
This book was good, but it did spend way too much time on the “push and pull” between the MCs. I was getting frustrated that Camille spent so much time basically begging Jax to be with her. It started to feel desperate. She was such a strong character so the whole desperation act just felt wrong.
Be still my beating heart, Jax does not disappoint. His absolute wildness paired with his vulnerability is a perfect match for Camille's strength and surety.
As the Alpha Games are coming to their conclusion, the stakes are high and someone is not above trying to skew the results with dark magic.
Can Jax control his wild nature and protectiveness to enable Camille to do her job?
Brilliantly written, as all the previous books in this series have been. The story is gripping and Reece Barden has such a talent for romance and spice.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it.
Tropes -Found Family -Torture 🦸♂️ - Badass FMC -Werewolf -Fate mates - Magic representation -HEA
I was waiting for this story, because I need to know more about Jax and I still think we don’t get a lot about his past. In all the books we got glimpse of what was happening but I really want to read the story from Jax POV. What I’m trying to say is that we didn’t get the trauma that cause that Jax was son unhinged and in odds with his wolf. I was suffering with him… the cage…. The handcuffs destroy me. But let’s think about THE SCARF!!!!! This damn wolf has me in shambles .
I like Camille a lot, she knows her stuff and was an enforcer. What surprise me was that she still following Raven even though He has a mate. Love her strength and her desire to find the person who was using magic.
The games were awesome really but not much discuss here (makes sense), so happy with the end of it though (was rooting for Eli since day 1).

Honestly I was hesitant to read this as I was pretty sure it couldn’t top Wyatt’s book but I was so wrong and has to be my favourite so far!
Absolutely love Jax, such a good MMC and hits all the feels. Camille is such a strong MFC too and doesn’t give Jax an easy out but without holding too huge a grudge.
As always Reece’s writing flows so well to make an easy read and pulls you in from the first few pages.
It’s a perfect series so far to compliment her other shifter series and cannot wait to see where Kain’s story goes. Also very interested in the side plot between Zane and Lynne
Wow I absolutely loved this book. Jax & Camille’s story written beautifully with lots of drama, tension & spice. We finally find out the outcome of the games (no spoilers). I was staring to feel a little sad as I was nearing end of book as just did not want to say goodbye to these characters and the journey to end- sooo relieved excited to discover it definitely does not end here and another instalment is on its way 🥰🥰🥰
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review
I'm not always in the mood for shifters romance, but when I do - Reece Barden is my go-to author. And I'm so glad I got the opportunity to read this ARC! I absolutely love when romances are not only about finding the one true love (or more if you're reading why choose), but also about finding yourself, finding acceptance, finding peace, finding amazing support system and more. Wild Games is all that. Jax's backstory is heartbreaking, so following his journey is an emotional rollercoster. And it makes the HEA eve more heartwarming. That's not to say that a great lovestory with amazing main characters (and we're talking fierce FMC and alpha, obsessed MMC) is not amazing enough. It's just a full package.
I'm SO looking forward to next stories/series that were teased here - can't wait!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This book stole my heart! The snippets of Jax’s story in the previous books have insight and intrigue into the broken shifter and this book perfectly showcased his story. I was drawn in and could not put the book down, I needed to know what happened to Jax and Camille. The set up for both MCs was perfect, both have such heartbreaking back stories that led them to this point where they truely deserve their happy ending. The mystery, spice, and heartfelt moments with a sprinkle of entertaining attitude draw you in so you can’t put the book down until it’s finished.
