From USA Today Bestselling author K Webster comes a new dark captive romance…

Someone kidnapped my classmate, and no one cares. Not the college, not the police—everyone just wants to forget her. But I won’t.

Finding Megan becomes my obsession, leading me straight into the world of the rich and ruthless Crowne family. They’re untouchable, powerful, and hiding something dark.

And I walk right into their trap.

Now I’m their prisoner, caught in a game of mind-bending control where every step they take shatters my sanity. And Caius Crowne—the coldest, most ruthless of them all—is determined to use me to get what he wants.

I hate him. I crave him. But I won’t break.

I might be their pawn for now, but I’ll outplay them all. Even if it’s the last thing I do.

A game of cat and mouse who comes out the victor is still to be determined..This book isn’t as straightforward as the blurb would suggest, so many twists and turns come at you at rapid speeds, at one point I’d even questioned if my coffee had been spiked because I couldn’t make heads or tails of this intricate storyline. And that is where this author shines, this book makes you question everything, who to trust? what's the truth? what are the Crowne's mixed up in?

When Romy’s classmate Megan disappears into thin air and no one can give her the answers she seeks she decides to take matters into her own hands and find out the truth herself, which in turns puts her in the crosshairs of three dangerous brothers (Caius, Gareth, and Theo Crowne), drugged, kidnapped, locked away, these men and their psychological games even had our heroine questioning her sanity.

You can’t trust anyone, even our heroine has me questioning facts to reality..

And then I’m catapulted over that cliffy, I knew it was coming, I just didn’t expect it to be such a jaw dropping cliffhanger. * Teaser used is off the authors facebook page* 65451226-2019570151487824-6157464638251335680-n

Wtf did I just read?

I know K Webster writes dark, unconventional romances, but this one was a little too dark, even for me.

TW: r@pe by other man (I hate when authors don’t warn readers of this ahead of time.)

I know s@xual assault was listed at the beginning of the book, but I didn’t think it was going to go that far. The MMC did yeet the guy, but ugh I don’t like reading books that have that. Also there was a lot of squicky stuff with younger women and men that was very triggering for me.

There’s like zero romance in this too, so I wasn’t a fan of that. There wasn’t even what felt like a start of a romance between the two leads either. I’m not a fan of lots of dark with zero romance to pad it.

Also the fmc Romy was soooo fricken dumb. She would be told not to do something and clearly saw at many points in the story that she would most likely get hurt if she did them and she did them anyway 🫠.

The vibe was super off for me too. Like at multiple points she’s literally flirting with her captors for no reason. She barely knows them and they keep lying to her and drugging her.

I feel like the secret society trope has been done better in other books that I’ve read.

I might read Mind Maze just to figure out how and why certain people are involved with the Crownes. There’s one big reveal at the end that had me scratching my head. But probably not as this was a bit too dark for me.

Despite wanting to set this aside and maybe come back to it once book two is out, I powered through. And my first impression stands. While great in concept, to me, this book really lacked in execution, especially on the relationship building front. I didn't feel any chemistry between MCs. If anything, I felt that Romy had more heat with the MMC's brothers. There's dark content, but not the kind that gets my heartrate up in a good way. There was just too much that didn't work for me and the things that should've made this book interesting weren't really explored. Will I read book 2? The jury's still out.

Genre: Romantic Thriller
Type: Book 1 of 3 from The Crowne Conspiracy series
POV: First Person - Female
Rating:
4.25 stars

After her classmate’s sudden disappearance, Romy Langston was determined to uncover the truth. Her quest pulled her into the dangerous grip of the Crowne brothers and the twisted mind games of the oldest, Caius. She had to determine what’s real in order to get out with her sanity intact.

This book was a wild ride for both the character and the reader. Throughout the book, I had my theories, but none was concrete enough, leaving the story wide open for endless possibilities in the series direction.

Romy was understandably untrusting and confused. Her status raised the stakes for the Crownes. Caius was sexy and enigmatic, but I also enjoyed how distinct his brothers were, each bringing their own layer of intrigue to the story.

Psyop Kings is a story of determination and uncovering the truth. It would appeal to readers who enjoy a psychological romance.

This book had potential but was ruined my the author incessant habit of having her FMC’s r@pe by OM for no reason at all. I don’t know why but K Webster loves to add this unsettling plot device to almost all of her recent and old book!! It didn’t add anything to the plot!! I love dark romance when it’s only between the main MMCs.(why can’t authors followed deathsdoll lead???) If the story is already dark why add the unnecessary trauma.?.?.? I give her another chance and get fooled Every. single. time. 🤡🤡🤡🗡️💀🗡️😭😔😖😡😡😡🫠

There isnt even an inking of “romance” in this to set up for the next book. I don’t not recommend… don’t waste your time.

The good reviews a false…. A lot of liars now a days innit 😅

wow!

There are psychological thrillers, then there are dark psychological thrillers, and then there are K. Webster dark psychological thrillers. This book is the first in a series and ends on a cliffhanger, leaving you with more questions than answers. I don’t want to give too much away, but just know—I absolutely loved this. I’m dying for the next one to release, and you need to read this book!

Romy goes on a mission to find about what happened and gets thrown into a high class world with the Crowne family. She desperately tries to figure out what it is going on but every day it gets more and more complicated.
This first book of this series was spectacular and I can wait to read more. This cliffhanger was crazy and left so many questions unanswered. 💋

A promising beginning to an exciting trilogy. The author keeps the suspense alive throughout the whole story. The narrative rhythm matches the fast paced storyline, building momentum expertly to deliver a very dynamic story.

This author can seamlessly move from one genre to another, she can master several tropes and her ability to shift from one canon to a different one is remarkable. One of the very first encounters I had with Ms Webster was a setting very similar to this latest opus. I must admit I have been wishing for something just like that by her for a long time. So, I can easily say this felt a lot like coming home, I’m enthralled by this universe and I don’t think anyone can break the spell Caius Crowne has put on me.

Speaking of spells… Caius is everything this author can concoct, he’ll make you crave and fear him in the span of a few seconds. I hungered for the adrenaline rush this tale abounded in, I was delirious from my lack of understanding, from almost being convinced to take for real whatever the Crownes wanted me to believe.

The story follows Romy’s journey she is a college student whose seemingly ordinary life is turned upside down. Romy comes from a powerful, rich family she has longed to be away from. Her controlling father doesn’t leave her much freedom, so the chance of studying far from home is a golden opportunity. Romy’s life starts crumbling when her friend suddenly disappears, she doesn’t believe the tale of an unexplained drop out. She begins her own search and her eagerness for truth lands her in the hands of the Crowne family.

To say this is the beginning of the end would be an understatement, the mind games and other questionable actions are just a taste of the unravelling. Amon all the chaos Romy can’t deny the spark of interest towards Caius, his twisted way of protecting her both comfort and confuse her. I won’t deny I occasionally questioned Romy’s beliefs when it came to the weaving of the complex threads she was involved in.

Romy is a fiery and determined character, her sense of justice and transparency are her downfall but also her power, Caius is as mysterious as deadly. The author tells the story from Romy’s POV, thus concealing his true intentions and feelings; further enhancing his mysterious aura.

Solving the puzzle of these intricacies isn’t easy and although I do have some theories the challenge to piece together all the clues to get the full picture is something I’m looking forward to. Ms Webster has laid out a complex game, she picked my interest and I’m all eager to go back into this messy universe and unhinged characters.

Chef’s kiss to this enticing twisted story. Beware, it’s K. Webster so I don’t need to tell you TW go hand in hand with the fun! 🤫

This is psychological warfare! Oh my god!
If you like morally gray men, mental manipulation, mind games, and full blown suspense, I highly recommend this book!
I personally LOVED it and ate it up in one sitting.
If I’m going to sacrifice my sleep knowing I’ll wake up to four kids that need me bright and early.. I know this book is a 5⭐️

Romy has a school friend who just up and left her life and no one seems to take it seriously. Except Romy. She’s determined to find her. Only that leads her to get kidnapped by the Crowne Kings.

“They've taken me, traumatized me, and are now trying to brainwash me. I may have mental issues, but I'm not weak or stupid. I refuse to be manipulated into being something I'm not. I just have to not get lost in their lies. I can't forget who I am.”

She wakes up after getting drugged multiple times and each time it happens, these men are messing with her. Acting like she’s been the girlfriend of Caius.
There’s photos of them together. All her belongings are in his house. His brothers’ seem to know everything about her too.

It’s all a game and she’s determined to keep her mental state and
A. Get Away
B. Find Her Friend

As she tries to play these games back, she finds herself in the middle of what seems like a dark human trafficking ring.

"Only the strong make it in this world," Caius says as he slides off the bed and stands, towering over me like a wicked, granite gargoyle. "Remember that if you want to survive this."

Who the hell is Caius really? And what did Romy get herself into?
It leaves off with a cliffhanger and so many questions unanswered but I’m so ready for the rest!

Wow, this book was a crazy ride! I am not sure how I even want to rate it because it is the first book, and I still have so many questions. This book was a mind F, and I could not put it down. K Webster has written a very intense, psychological thriller that will keep you questioning what the heck is going on. The narrator and the characters are unreliable, and we can’t trust anyone.

Romy’s on a mission to find one of her close college friends when she disappears and suddenly drops out of school. It leads her on a crazy journey and puts her in the path of the dangerous and shady Crowne family. She gets kidnapped by one of the brothers, and now she is being manipulated and told she was really with the cold and calculated one named Caius. She thinks they are brainwashing her, but she starts to question what is real and what is going on with their organization.

I am still confused and dying to get to book 2. I have so many questions, and the ending will leave you shook. This ends in a cliffhanger, and I need answers now!

I don’t want to reveal too much because it is better to go in and experience this psychological thriller. I don’t really think it is a romance yet, but I am sure it will get there in the next 2 books.

Please check your triggers before reading. There is a lot of disturbing content, and it goes to places that will make you uncomfortable. That is what I love about dark romance, though, and K Webster is a master.

Interesting mind boggle!
This was such a mind mess, I know it’s meant to be a mess for our FMC but even as a reader you begin to question what’s the real story or not!
In terms of characterisation, Romy has an inner strength that allows her to fight against the injustice around her, however her morals are questioned as she need to make tough choices about what to do to survive! (Do check the TW there are seggsual based attacks)
Cassius is our MMC and there are hints of an obsessive possession of our girl underneath but it is very very very buried underneath a d@:kish personality - atm he’s pretty irredeemable so it’ll be interesting to see how this develops in the series! Intrigued by the mystery of his deepest secret….

If I say dark captive romance, does it capture your attention? Because it surely captured mine!

I had to read this book as soon as I found out that it’s got a conspiracy surrounding the disappearance of a woman and the frenzied and determined search of her friend to find her. She faces the maddening enemies of indifference from the system and conspirators in the dark recesses of power and anonymity. I was hooked.

This story is entrenched in enigmas and mind games. I felt sucked in by the injustice of a woman just disappearing and nobody caring about it. I was as frustrated and eager as Romy to get to the bottom of it, to save her, to punish the culprits. But oh, this goes down the rabbit hole into a fathomless pit of mind-boggling, reality-twisting mystery. What is going on? Are the Crowne men lying like devils or Romy's mind utterly deluded? The doubt, the uncertainty of it all, was frying my nerves and gluing me to page after page.

Romy is a strong character thrown into a world steeped in luxury and hair-rising depravity. I liked it when she was solving puzzles and defying adversaries, not so much when she was a victim to her circumstances. That's because I felt as much a victim as she was, and every victim around her, that it made me itchy and uncomfortable. Some scenes are brutal and disgusting. It was hard to read them. However, the mysterious plot was so engaging that it really kept me going. The last chapter is both nefarious and a hook to jump onto the next book. What a crazy read!

Romy Langston is in search of her missing classmate, yet she finds herself trapped in a maze of deception and lies crafted by her captor, Caius Crowne. With a penchant for details and solving puzzles, Romy attempts to put the pieces together before the consequences are too grave.

“They’re used to being masters of the games they play. They’ve never played with me, though.”

Thrust into a world of manipulation, Romy must find an ally in the Crowne family, but choosing the right person is key to her escape. Tapping into her experience growing up in a powerful family Romy is not intimated easily, but the rules in this game are not discernible.

Certainly, Romy has tenacity and I liked how she was not discouraged even when she teetered on misconception. Caius has an impenetrable exterior and piercing through is a challenge to Romy. I found the push-pull dynamic between Romy and Caius to be steamy. At times, the tension was soared with Romy’s bold moves. Throughout, there is a level of unreliability since the mind manipulation is a clever construct of this psychological plot.

With a cliffhanger ending, I remain invested in this storyline and its characters and look forward to book two in this trilogy.

Romy Langston wants to find her friend that went missing from college. Looking for her leads Romy to the Crowne family. That was her first mistake as now Caius Crowne has her and won’t let her go. Crowne Unity Project…what are they really? This is a psychological thriller that leaves you with more questions then answers and needing more. There are some TW so be aware including NC. This brilliant twisted story ends on a cliffhanger so get ready. I need book two stat! Told in first person and Romy’s POV

This started out great for me! I was super intrigued by the way the H was handing the hs “kidnapping”. The last 20% became very standard captive romance dark romance stuff though. I was expecting something more with this one. I’ll still give book two a shot but I’m not nearly as invested as I was. I’m still interested in the Hs character arc though so, we’ll see.

Overall: 3.5

Romy is just your average person. Or so everyone believes. All she wants to do is experience college like a normal teenager, go to class, parties all away from her father’s control. At least she has her friend Megan, until she doesn’t.

Megan’s disappeared. Romy sets out to find her, with little to know assistance from local law enforcement. She takes matters into her own hands, using her connections, more-so her father’s being as he is Gideon Langston and CEO of a multi media conglomerate.

She gets an invite to a prestigious party for the rich and famous. There she sets out to find answers about Megan, only she ruffles some feathers, her presence catches the attention of the illustrious Crowne family. Here she learns about Orion, Caius, Gareth and Theo. Romy gets a vibe from them, all she knows is that they’re powerful, untouchable and hiding something very dark.

Romy’s over stayed her welcome, and she’s asked to leave. She then meets Theo, a handsome stranger, they share a drink and the next thing she knows her world is flipped on its axis. And now the Crowne family must do damage control, because Theo’s mistake, taking Romy Langston of all people, being who her father is, will put a spotlight on them, one they don’t want or need.

For Romy is caught up in a game she doesn’t understand, one where people have the power to bend one’s will, controlling every facet, thier aim, to splinter her mind, shatter her sanity. And when she comes face to face Orion, Caius, Gareth and Theo, she’s out of her depths. But when it comes to Caius, there’s something about him that speaks to her, because out of all three brothers, he is the coldest, most ruthless one of them all. He’s determined to use her to get what he wants but what he doesn’t realise is that Romy has a sharpe mind and strong whit about her.

She hates him, yet she craves him, but more importantly she won’t let him break her. But then her choices aren’t really her own. Because her perception and reality are altered when she finds out that she’s Caius’s girlfriend. Somehow their lives intersected, and she doesn’t understand how or why.

All she now knows is this has become her new normal. That despite her situation she makes the best of what she has. The one thing that soothes her mind is puzzles. It baffle’s Caius, her patience and single minded focus. Caius is determined to remain professional, however it’s not long before Romy is asking personal questions about the brothers, to gauge a better understanding of them and who they are.

There’s no love loss between Romy and Caius, trust for the both of them is hard to come by, because the one thing that Romy wants is to find her friend Megan and Caius has the power and the resources to do it. The only concession is she has to be on her best behaviour. But when she learns one of Caius’s secrets, she is told to forget what she saw.

And then Romy finally gets to see the other side of the world that Caius lives in, on the outside it’s pretty, but on the inside is something more dark and sinister. Onboard a super yacht, she’s told to keep a low profile, her curiosity gets the best of her, and what she sees, she now cant unsee, her mind spiralling. To get through this trip she must play her role well, because she’s in a den of vipers, and if she’s not careful they will taint her with thier poison.

Caius keeps his promise and Romy is finally able to speak to Megan, only it’s not the Megan she knows. As she peppers Megan with questions all she gets is staggered answers, and Caius makes no move to stop her from revealing their secrets. Romy is devastated that Megan doesn’t remember her or anything from their life, but what tips her over the edge is the secondary voice, that of her brother Bastian. How is he involved, comprehension and understanding go out the window, betrayal scarring her deep.

Because if Romy thought she endured the worst of it, nothing pales in comparison at having seeing what Solomon and Ava are capable of, she’s no match for Gareth. He wants answers, his own paranoia getting the better of him, he believes Romy has been stringing him a long, that Caius is hiding things from him, and for him there is one way he will get them.

Gareth disregarding Romy’s pleas violates her, taking the one thing that was not his to take, in the process does she reveal Caius’s truths, truths that were not hers to reveal, yet it’s in that moment that Caius makes a split second decision that will irreparably impact his life and his family. He always suspected that there was something more with Gareth and seeing it with his own eye validated his suspicions. Having taken care of his brother, he returns to Romy, he shows her another side of himself, showing empathy and compassion, helping her through her trauma, providing her comfort in her time of need.

And now that one problem has been eliminated, and with Romy’s current state, Caius has deemed her primed and ready for her transformation, that what she experienced will be a thing of the past, that her pain will be what allows her to finally accept what is required to make her the best version of herself.

Because Caius has one agenda, one primary objective and that’s finding his sister Calista.

Highly recommend both the author and the book, now onto book two of Romy and Caius’s story.

I have read several stories by this author, some I liked like Wicked Lies boys tells and Feuds and Reckless Fury (it doesn't matter the genre, whether MM or MF but how much the relationship between the protagonists involves me), others were bland stories that had a promising plot but then couldn't get past the average threshold.
In the author's past books I appreciated the sentimental relationship between the protagonists, the rest of the story was secondary, because the harmony between the characters was there and was felt by the readers, so I didn't focus on plot holes or a poor background in the story, in this book instead my feelings are completely different: the context in which the protagonists find themselves was well developed, but the relationship and harmony between the two was totally absent (something not appreciated since the book is sold as dealing with a love story). That said, I liked the suspense that the author was able to create in this reading, she leaves us at the end with many questions and the desire to continue the series.
The author was good because at some points I also began to doubt what the truth was, not knowing which path the author wanted to take for the future.
If I had to summarize the negative things about this reading, I would say first of all Romy's initial attitude, a bit silly and naive, in being easily lured into a bar by telling a stranger about her kidnapped friend (a friend she has known for a few weeks, her strong interest in finding her "friend", stating with certainty that she was kidnapped, as if she had known her all her life, would have been more justified in the course of the story if they had known each other for a long time or had a deeper relationship).
During this first book the moments between her and the brothers of her "boyfriend" had almost more space, value and time than those between her and Caius.
The most sore point is definitely the relationship between the main characters, I really don't understand how the story between the two will evolve in the future and how Romy can forget the psychological torture she is subjected to by Caius, especially at the beginning.
Dark romances are among my favorite genres, so I'm not easily shocked by dark situations between lovers, I accept almost everything, but there are some lines that I personally don't appreciate being crossed, especially because I accept, tolerate and appreciate this genre and the deviant relationship between the two lovers because one of the two is always moved by a strong feeling towards the other, which is not love but at least obsession, in short none of the characteristics that the male protagonist has in this case (I understand it's only the first book, but if the author chooses to tell already now strong situations that happen to the protagonist like a rape, she must give us a strong response from the male protagonist - a mere murder committed by Caius briefly, something he always wanted to do regardless of Romy, is worth nothing and is not satisfying and fair enough for what our female protagonist endured- ).

In fact, I don't think Caius cares about Romy, at least up until now, he finds her cute to look at and has a sexual desire towards her, but it's all bland and futile, this is clearly perceived at the end when his response to the rape of his alleged "beloved" is: it's all fine because I'll make her forget everything... like, I've never seen a dark male character more disinterested than him.
Clearly he has other more important purposes to focus on that the author will reveal, I find it interesting but it confirms my thesis about the non-existent relationship between him and Romy, perhaps the story would have been evaluated differently if the author had focused the plot of the first book on something else.

Other things like why Romy was so intensely attracted to Caius, I can't explain it, it was just a physical need, since they never bonded in any other way, they never even had a real conversation if we want to be honest.
Or the scenes where it is repeated that the two sleep together every night, Romy accepts all of this without ever even once trying to change things, or in any case the night times were moments that could have been lead to any kind of rapprochement between the two, but they were not explored in depth... maybe it's done on purpose, but it still needs to be mentioned.
Overall, the author left me curious enough to buy the second book, which is a good thing.

This time, she returned back to the dark romance world with a psychological thriller and it was a chef's kiss!!!
I devoured this story and the ending left me panding for more...
This book was an epic mindf*ck, but I loved how the tables had turned near to the end, even though the consequences were catastrophic!!!
Honestly, at some point, I didn't know what was real and what was not!!! I was losing my mind alongside our heroine!!!

"Only the strong make it in this world.
Remember that if you want to survive this."

Romy's classmate vanished into thin air and she wasn't buying that she just left... She was determined to find Megan, no matter the consequences...
But her researchs are bringing her in the footsteps of a dangerous family!!! A well respected, but very dangerous family and from that moment, everything is turning upside down in her life...
She is becoming a prisoner and she doesn't know what is true or false anymore...
Especially, the older son of the Crowne family, the cold Caius is determined to break her with his mind games and his whole cold and cruel demeanor...
But Romy won't stop fighting no matter what and she will try to beat Caius Crowne into his own game!!!

"I'm having trouble figuring out what's real and what's fabricated.
It all feels real right now.
That's what he wants.
It's all a game to him."

I won't say more about the plot cause this book was really something else... I just touched the pick of the iceberg with what I said above...
The only sure thing is that Romy is in big trouble, and Caius is becoming her nemesis and her twisted protector at the same time and that was so confusing!!!
Things were really complicated and honestly, I have so many questions that need to be answered!!!
What is really happening in this book???
What's Caius end game???
And will Romy survive all this madness???

"This is more than just a game to escape.
They've drawn me into their wicked world where they're not the only monsters."

I loved Caius and Romy so much!!!
The intensity between them was so palpable everytime that they were in the same room, but I have so many holes to fill in if I want to understand them better, especially Caius!!!
Romy was a tragic figure, but she never stop fighting back and I liked that she wasn't giving up...
Caius charmed me, even though I don't really know his motives behind many of his actions, but I can tell that Romy was getting under his skin and I love the potentions that are existing for them, even though the obstacles are numerous...
I am already addicted and I need more as soon as possible!!!

"He's an evil piece of this dark game I'm in.
I can't forget that."

Whew, what a ride! My mind is officially scrambled, honestly leaving me at a loss how to properly review this book. This was another mind-bending, brain-twisting masterpiece by Ms. K. Webster, and man, and the exact reason I enjoy her work so much. You just never know what you’ll get with her, and with this being labeled as psychological captive romance, I knew it was going to get wild from the get-go. Whether or not, however, I actually realized what was even going on in this first instalment, well, I have no clue.

In this story about Romy, who finds herself abducted by the enigmatic Crowne family after desperately searching for her missing friend, each chapter just pulls you deeper into a labyrinth of psychological intrigue, making it impossible to predict what will happen next. The most glaring being, is Romy truly a victim of abduction, or is there more to the story? The tension is palpable, and I was utterly absorbed, eager to uncover the secrets lurking within the Crowne family.

And, seriously, conventional brooding (anti-)heroes have nothing on Caius, Gareth, and Theo, the complex, unhinged, manipulative Crowne brothers who turn Romy’s life into a whirlwind of chaos and fear. What begins as a quest to help a friend, spirals into a harrowing descent into a shadowy underworld that tests Romy’s sanity.

And that cliffhanger? It left me reeling yet craving more. Approach with caution and heed the trigger warnings, but be prepared to lose yourself in this dark, thrilling adventure, and simply enjoy this crazy roller coaster ride.

I loved every bit of this, right from the first sentence telling me the main character was an unreliable narrator. I was drawn in from the prologue, and still trying to figure out what was going on for most of the book. There was bit towards the end that seemed a little predictable to me, or at least, I figured it out, but there is still some mystery going on with it, so I didn't mind. I was a little shocked by something that happened at the end, but I'm excited to see where that goes and the fallout of it. Can't wait to get to the next book!

The only thing that I hated in this book, was the trafficking. I knew it was there before starting, but it's a theme that I can't stand, and I hate reading about it. It was giving very heavy Epstein/Maxwell vibes, and I couldn't get past the ick vibes from it. The writing and storytelling it top-notch, so I'm hoping that it will end will, but man did those bits get to me.

What did I just read??

So I have to be honest, I opened this book, read the trigger warnings and thought for sure I would be DNFing this book. But that did NOT happen, in fact the opposite did. The way that Kristi writes is not going to be for everyone, that’s just the honest truth. Were there parts of this book that frustrated me, or made me uncomfortable? Absolutely. But was the story strong enough to back everything up? It really was.

This is a book about Psychological Operations that use noncombatantive means to influence enemies, but in this book we really don’t know who the enemies are supposed to be.

With being book one, you need to be prepared for what that entails, but don’t fret because book two is releasing in March and book three in May. Which I will be first in line for because I need to see where she is going to take us!

Thank you for the ARC, K Webster & Chaotic Creatives.

“Whatever you think you know, you don’t.”

Psyop Kings is book one in The Crowne Conspiracy trilogy. Psychological warfare. Manipulation. An Absolutely terrifying look at a future utilizing AI. Constantly questioning what is real and what is not.

If your friend went missing, would you go looking for them? Megan didn’t make it to class one day and Romy knew something was off. While searching for answers her world is flipped upside down. Taken. Held. Now in the hands of the Crowne family. Or is she just remembering things wrong. What happens when you can’t trust your own memories? Are they even memories at all or created out of a need for control?

So many questions. Very few answers. And who knows where the truth lies. This was a fascinating read and I’m eager to dive into Mind Maze.

“Only the strong make it in this world, “Remember that if you want to survive this.”

Wow, talk about a brain twister. Be prepared for a whole lot of mind games, twists and turns and a truly fantastically written, but terrible we have to wait, cliffy. A game of cat and mouse with dangerous consequences, more questions than answer and an unreliable narrator. My head was spinning by the end. This will suck you in and keep you captive until the very last page.

The psychological aspect of this book is what drew me into the Psyop Kings universe. I've been looking for this kind of story forever, so I just devored this one. The story had me second guess everything, and after turning the last page, I'm not even closer to funding out what is really happening here. Oh! I have my theories, but the whole picture seems very far right now. I'm diving into the second opus right now, well done, Mrs. Webster!

What did I just read?! I need more!

Always expect the unexpected with this author. Well this story was a mind bending read. Even when I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about this book. Love a good psychological romance.

I didn’t have a clue what was going to happen next with these characters. Their story had lots of mystery, suspense, and jaw dropping twists. Can’t wait to find out what happens next.
