Room 904

Rate this book
Ayanda Xaba comes back with another thriller with a shocking twist. When Bukeka Mdaka goes to Johannesburg to further her studies, she is allocated the infamous Room 904. There are rumours about her room being haunted, but she is not superstitious, so she ignores them. Her main focus is to escape her disadvantaged background and make a success of herself. She is determined to pass all her modules and not lose her scholarship. But her learning difficulties push her to entertain a wicked man's proposal to ensure that her marks improve. She finds herself in a compromising position and help comes from the most unexpected person — her mysterious roommate.

Makaziwe is happy to get a new roommate. For years, she has been getting roommate after roommate, some with good habit, others not so much, and they all never stay for long. But after all her experiences with bad roommates, she surprises herself by taking a liking to Bukeka almost immediately. Through Bukeka’s joyful spirit and nurturing aura, Makaziwe discovers hidden parts of herself and is forced to confront her dark past while helping her roommate to not suffer the same fate.

This is a story of sisterhood, love, and friendship, with twists and turns that will keep you at the edge of your seat.

Ayanda, you did a thing there.

Fantastic, action-packed story. We paced with tensions in the right spaces.
