This story drew me in from the absolute very beginning and literally did not turn me loose. I enjoyed the POVs that showed us insight on Alicia & Monica’s points of view. AJ Wilder did a phenomenal job on the narration, bringing life to these characters. The turn this story took was mind blowing & this book was simply addictive! Overall a solid read & If you haven’t read this, I highly recommend! Brooke Montoya has a new fan… Book 2 me please!

You’re so f*cking special…🎶🎼🎵

I just finished “Creep” by Brooke Montoya - Author and I gotta say it took me back to growing up as a teen in the early nineties. Featuring one of my favorite songs, Creep by Radiohead, I was pulled into the story quickly and it did not disappoint throughout.

I felt like I was there, back in the age of innocence and it made me wonder exactly what lengths I would go to survive the Creeps demented fantasies.

The two sided narrative was a fresh take at two friends on both sides of the events unfolding. There were a few inconsistencies but nothing that interrupted the overall thrilling and horrifying experience.

If you’re a fan of the nineties era or just love a thrill and want to think about what you would do in this scenario then don’t wait any longer and buckle up because you’re in for a wild ride! 😳

This book was literally everything. I felt every single feeling I could feel while reading this book. Anger, sadness, fear but mostly annoyance 😂. I think it really came down to feeling upset for the main characters and having the dual POV was powerful as well but it made me love the book even more! I can’t wait to read book 2!

Wow is all I can say about this book and the ride it takes you on. I'm definitely going to read part 2 to see what happens. Alicia was kidnapped from her job by someone posing as a photographer but as the story unfolds it takes you on a wild ride with a twist at the end.

Creep by Brooke Montoya was a read I didn't know I needed. Everytime I thought I knew how the ending would turn out I was quickly proven wrong; and the ending was better than I could've ever imagined! Creep was a fast-paced, serial 💀, set in the summer of 1998 in Oklahoma. I can't wait for the more from Brook Montoya as she definitely didn't disappoint.

Brooke Montoya’s Creep is an edge-of-your-seat thriller that grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go. Set in 1998, this story is a chilling, fast-paced tale of survival, friendship, and the horrifying unpredictability of human nature.

Alicia Waters is relatable, strong, and painfully human as she’s thrust into a nightmare that forces her to confront her darkest fears. Her journey is harrowing, and Montoya masterfully captures the raw emotions of desperation, courage, and resilience as Alicia fights to survive.

Monica’s parallel story as she searches for her missing friend adds another layer of tension, showcasing the power of friendship in the face of unimaginable danger. The alternating perspectives between Alicia’s fight for survival and Monica’s relentless search create a dynamic narrative that keeps the reader hooked.

Montoya’s writing is sharp, vivid, and atmospheric, immersing you in the time period and the characters' lives. The suspense builds perfectly, and the twists and turns are both shocking and satisfying. Creep is not just a thriller—it’s a haunting exploration of how far someone can go to survive. If you’re a fan of dark, gritty thrillers, Creep is a must-read. Montoya delivers a chilling and unforgettable tale that stays with you long after the final page. Highly recommended!

I enjoyed this one. The story itself is interesting, but not for the faint of heart. It includes some pretty intense stories of rape and the psychological effects of it. The author did a great job setting the scenes without being overly descriptive and she deserves many accolades for finding the perfect balance there. I found this novel a true page-turner.

I deducted one star from my review for lack of editing. It doesn’t appear Ms. Montoya used a professional editor and I found myself highlighting several errors on my Kindle. I found it a bit distracting.

Despite the need for an editor, I can’t wait to read the second book in the series and find out what happens to Alicia/Victoria and The Creep. Lucky for me, it hits the shelves in two days! Strongly recommended.

“Creep” by Brooke Montoya completely sucked me in from the first page. I honestly didn’t see that twist coming—it was intense and left me reeling. The writing is sharp and engaging, pulling me deeper into the story with every page. The tension is constant, and just when I thought I had it figured out, Montoya threw in another shocking turn. It kept me hooked the entire time. The ending was a total gut-punch, and I can’t stop thinking about it. If you’re into dark, suspenseful thrillers, this one’s a must-read.

A fast paced absorbing psychological thriller written from the perspectives of the Kidnappee Alicia and her best friend Monica. A story of survival at any cost from one perapective and a desperste race for answers from the other. I enjoyed the short chapter to and fro bursts like a character tennis match that increased with tension as the rally progressed. Brooke delivered a refreshing original conclusion that sets up book 2 nicely.

This book is very raw but well written. It’s such a complex story and you feel yourself being drawn into each characters lives. I felt like the author was sensitive to the needs of the characters and dug deep to produce a sensitive narrative.
Well done 👏 Brooke.

The only reason I am giving this 4 stars is because of how boring and uneventful her release from her captor was. I wish it was a bit more….exciting? I read it and said, “Really? Thats it?” Other than that, I enjoyed the book. I liked how it bounced back and forth between Alicia’s and Monica’s POV.

I just finished Creep by Brooke Montoya, and wow, what a ride! Set in 1998 Oklahoma, Creep follows Alicia Waters, a college student living a seemingly normal life with her best friend, Monica. The 90s nostalgia is everywhere—flip phones, mixtapes, and the overall vibe make it feel like a time capsule of the era. But everything changes when Alicia meets a mysterious man, leading her into a harrowing journey of survival.

As Alicia goes missing, Monica becomes determined to find her, unraveling a web of deceit and danger. The story alternates between Alicia's terrifying ordeal and Monica's desperate search, keeping readers completely hooked. The suspense builds relentlessly, and just when you think you know where it's heading, the story takes a sharp, unexpected turn.

AJ Wilder absolutely nails the intensity of this story. She captures Alicia’s fear and desperation so vividly that it feels like you’re right there with her. Her narration adds an extra layer of tension, making the audiobook version a must-listen.

If you love authors like Frieda McFadden and John Marrs, who blend psychological depth with jaw-dropping twists, then Creep is right up your alley.

This book is a heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat thriller that delivers big on suspense and surprises. As a fan of true crime, this fictional thriller hit all the right notes. The suspense was palpable, and just when I thought I had it all figured out, the plot twisted in ways I never saw coming. There were moments I found myself literally yelling at Alicia, the main character, and I realized I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. Plus, the 90s nostalgia made it even better! This is a solid 5-star read; I'd rate it higher if I could. With its gripping mystery, strong characters, and a heavy dose of 90s nostalgia, Creep is an absolute must-read!

First off, the song Creep by Radiohead from 1992 has been stuck in my head since reading this book!!! I can NOT get it or the story out of my head!!!! So be warned, you will be singing it if you know it for a while – or at least while you are reading the book!!!

TRIGGER WARNINGS: ABDUCTION/KIDNAPPING, RAPE, MURDER, MENTAL HEALTH

The book is based in the late 1990’s so it really hit home with me since the time frame is right around the same time I was the age of the FMC (Alicia), and I was able to reflect on how I would have reacted to what happened. With that said, the big twist at the end is NOT what I would have done but hey, that’s what made this book freaking amazing.

Creep explores the deep-seated friendships, abduction/kidnapping, murder, loyalty and a big plot twist. The first chapter was fast paced and sucked me in immediately wanting to know what the heck was going on. Montoya takes the time after that to build background for her characters while continuing to draw you into the story. The chapters do flip flop back and forth so in the beginning you have to remember this and pay attention to the chapter information (dates/titles) but even if you only skim over that it should be clear what is happening after the first few lines in each chapter. I read a lot, I read quickly but I couldn’t read quick enough to get through this book – not because I wanted it to end, but because I kept wanting to know what was going to happen. Then, the end. The plot twist. The cliffhanger. I was screaming in my head NNNOOOOOO because I knew the next book was not ready yet and I really NEEDED more. This is a good thing so don’t go in thinking you are going to feel disappointed – except being disappointed that you have to wait for book 2.

If you love a good mind twist, strong characters, a story line that keeps you motivated to turn page after page then Creep is definitely a book you should pick up.

All opinions in this review are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily with no promise of any compensation from the author, current or future.

5 stars – A nostalgic, chilling gem I didn’t see coming!

I absolutely loved this book! As someone born and raised in Oklahoma—and the same age as Alicia and Monica in 1998—it instantly brought back a flood of memories from my college years. It was such a carefree time, when the idea of a “creeper” in small-town Oklahoma felt like fiction. This story tapped into that time and place so vividly, it felt personal.

But beyond the nostalgia, the writing pulled me in from the very first page. The style is so natural and easy to fall into, and the plot is completely unique—I truly couldn’t put it down. The twists kept me guessing, and the emotional beats hit just right.

The coolest part? I bought this book by accident at a quirky Oklahoma event in Enid. I was watching a magic show, sort of loitering near the author’s table, and ended up chatting with her. I’m SO glad I did—what a happy accident! I might officially be a fan girl now, because I plan to read everything she writes from here on out.

I will preface this with two things:

CW: fairly explicit violence, regular SA

Number 2: This was not my type of read at all and this book didn't convert me to Dark Thriller/romance.

Now with that in mind.

If you are into dark thrillers/dark (arguably) romance, this one is probably going to be mid level in terms of extreme. It was borderline too much for *me* but I'm a newb to the genre. For people who like this genre, it has some great exploration of an extreme personality type, relationships (both twisted and not), and a lot of action. The plot is brisk and while I wasn't a fan of the ending (why did HE let HER go?), it was addictive to read.

There are some errors and missing words. I found some of the writing to be clinical.

But overall, if dark thriller/dark romance is your jam, you'll probably like this one. As it's not my jam, we are filing this under "New Experience" 🤣

This book is chock full of 90’s nostalgia and grunge, murder and an eerie survival tail leaving you wanting to know more. Plus it add a new twisted view of Creep by Radiohead, which I have always loved and I’m endlessly streaming because of this book.

What sets this book apart is its unique narrative style, told through the perspectives of Alicia and Monica. One the victim and one the friend; both navigating the world they are thrown into. The deeper you delve, the more the story reveals shocking truths about survival and coping.

The novel masterfully balances horror with profound emotional depth. It’s not just about survival but what exactly it takes to survive.

The writing style will have you so enveloped in the story you don’t realize just how fast you are consuming it. It’s captivating, addictive and relentless

I really love a multiple POV story, the style always keeps me thoroughly engaged.

The story was disturbing, but enthralling and I felt all sorts of emotion which I’ve not felt with many books. I don’t have any triggers but I found some parts very uncomfortable. Although this just highlights how well written this story is, to bring out such emotion.

I was left wanting more and want to read the next book soon!

Side note: From the cover I thought this book was more of a horror story so I left it on my TBR list longer than I would have, as I’m not really a fan of horror. It surprised me when I started it that it was a thriller (it does say thriller on the front but I hadn’t noticed this) and overall the cover gave me horror vibes. Maybe just me though. Don't let this put you off if you only read thrillers.

Wow Brooke!! Creep pulled me in from the first page..not possible right? Wrong!! This book proves that! Two girls that are best friends, living a good life in Oklahoma, until one of them meets a man. He is not a good guy by any means. Now one of them is taking a hard journey to survive, while the other tries to find her. Brooke did an excellent job of building the characters backgrounds without killing the story line. There are triggers in this book so CHECK YOUR TRIGGERS!! This book is a page turner with its twists and turns. I look forward to the next one, because the first one was not enough!!!

Amazing book

This is a masterfully woven thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. This gripping narrative is filled with so many unexpected twists and turns that it feels like an exhilarating rollercoaster ride through the darkest corners of human nature.

What sets this apart is Brooke’s ability to deliver shocking twists that are cleverly planted throughout the narrative. Just when you think you have the story figured out, a new piece of information

I am very excited to check out night moves and will definitely take a peak into your other books as well.

10/10 in my opinion.

This book starts out with all the nostalgia- shopping at the mall, Orange Julius, popular songs of the 90s…and then everything goes wrong. The villain in this novel certainly lives up the book’s name, CREEP. What a character! The story itself is fast paced and addictive, with the highlight being just how well each character was written. This was my first book by Brooke Montoya and I was impressed with how easily she managed to make each individual character’s personality shine through their actions and realistic dialogue- skilled to the point where they seemed like real people! I’m looking forward to the sequel to see what happens next.

Creep was the set-in-the-90s thriller I didn't know I needed. From the first sentence I was hooked. The thriller aspect was great, yes, but so were the relationships and character development. I've read too many multi-POV novels where I had to check to see whose POV l was in because everyone sounded the same. Definitely not the case here. The attention to detail was amazing, I really felt like I was there in the story. This was my first read by this author but definitely won't be my last! I can't wait for the next book in this series!

I just finished reading and am SHOCKED at the twist at the end! This story was fast-paced and Brooke did an amazing job connecting the POVs between Alicia (FMC) and her life-long best friend, Monica. I appreciated the short chapters from each POV. Every time I thought I could guess what would happen, there was another twist to leave me guessing. How far would Alicia go to survive her captor? Brooke did an amazing job at building her characters and keeping the story engaging!

There is some material that may be triggering to some people so please check your trigger warnings!

Disappointing

A tired, old storyline we've heard before ... just horribly written. The author jumps back and forth between past and present tense, often within the same paragraph. The grammar is atrocious. I had to keep rereading sentences over and over and often they still made no sense. I only finished this book because I'd read good reviews for it. I thought it had to have a kick ass ending. Surprise .... it did not!!!

I just noticed there's a book called Creep by a different author. That explains the reviews. I read the wrong book.

This book hits like a freight train. Creep isn’t just a thriller — it’s a full-body experience.

Brooke Montoya drags you straight into Alicia’s nightmare and doesn’t let you look away. The fear, the rage, the sheer will to survive — you feel every second of it. It’s raw, it’s brutal, and it’s real. There were parts that made my stomach twist because it was that believable. If you’re looking for a safe, cozy thriller, keep moving. Creep is the kind of book that grabs you by the throat and makes you remember it long after you finish the last page. Absolutely unforgettable.

This one has so much potential. There really is a great story hiding beneath the surface here. This book could use a good polishing. From inconsistent verb tense to flip-flopping of character names (is the mom Sharon or Sheila?), this book is riddled with errors that impede understanding at times. It reads like a rough draft. I'd really like to see this book undergo a good edit because the story is quite compelling.
