A fast paced second chance Romance. If you’re looking for a cute and sweet kinda campy book look no further. Navy will have you shaking your head and Dallas will have you swooning in no time.
Spoilers:
Navy is the classic case of a FMC thinking she knows what’s best for others and making herself suffer because of her own actions. Of course she’s made this wonderful but lonely life for herself. It’s just a prime example that we do not always know what is best, and that communication is key. Navy made me want to yell at her to open her big damn eyes and take a look around. Like ma’am please get out of your own way and listen to your heart not your head.
Dallas is the greenest green flag I have ever seen. Man deserves an award. when he finally told her to “respectfully- please stop talking” it was about damn time that she needed to actually listen to what he had to say. Who doesn’t love a sexy man who knows what he wants treats his lady respectfully can cook and is a pro athlete.
This was a lovely change of pace for me! An easy to read contemporary romance.
Poor Navy, our main gal, has spent eight years trying to get over Dallas and then he's suddenly back in her life, opening old wounds and reminding her that she's never stopped loving him!
Dallas, our main man, would have to be the sweetest book boyfriend ever! I mean, he cooks her breakfast and gets her cups of tea. ☕️ He sounds perfect! (OK, so there are other things he says and does that give him the swoon factor, but breakfast & tea are a pretty big deal to me! 😂)
A story of sacrifices, undying love and second chances with a HEA ending.
Wattlebark and Navy's home reminded me of my Nan's cottage garden and small town. Small towns really are beautiful places to be. I miss that! Maybe one day I'll get back to a place like Wattlebark! 🥰
I rate it 5. The love story was beautiful. The characters were down to earth. And I luv her name! (Navy). It sounds like a person who is strong of heart, not a wishy washy chacter. I fell in luv with Dallas as soon as I "met" him! I could imagine the cute town of Wattlebark (I’ve visited a few like it). The book was a far cry from "Mills & Boon" books, thank god! There were a few twists which I luv. Was Navy going to choose the wrong man? What really was the reason she left him at the alter? (It kept me reading to find out why). Melissa has a way with words. It wasn't dragged out but left enough space to guess the next step. The "saucy" bits weren't too saucy. Overall, a great read. Can't wait for the next one.
This style of book is right up my alley. It was such a delightful and easy-to-read romance! Navy and Dallas are such wholesome characters and I found myself deeply invested in their journey. The tension between them was perfectly paced, keeping me hooked from start to finish.
What truly stood out, though, was the town, Wattlebark. Melissa Jean has beautifully detailed the township, making me feel like I was right there. I’m tempted to pack up and move there myself.
If you’re looking for a heartwarming, escape with the most beautiful, charming man (inside and out) and chemistry that is palatable, I highly recommend reading, Running Back by Melissa Jean.
Navy and Dallas’ story is such a beautiful second chance romance. After eight years apart, fate brings them back together at their best friend’s wedding—and it’s instantly clear the love between them never faded. Neither ever truly stopped loving the other, and honestly… can you blame Navy? Dallas is an absolute dreamboat
This story definitely pulled at all my heartstrings. I got teary a few times, but the ending left me full of love and reminded me just how powerful love can be—even after years apart.
This book is light hearted, relaxing, easy to read and all round enjoyable! I loved the characters, the storyline and felt the desperation to keep reading to find out how the story was going to end! A must read!
This isn’t my usual kind of read, but I thought the book was great. I found the characters relatable and the plot made me want to keep reading. The author really set the scene of a small cozy town.
