长公主失忆后
玉熙长公主从马上摔下来，摔坏了脑子，只记得十二岁之前的事，众臣感慨。
玉熙自己倒挺高兴，一觉醒来，她成了长公主，一人之下万人之上，皇弟又对她极好，实在惬意。
就是有点不好，她都二十二了，竟然没驸马，玉熙决定找一个。
宫中寿宴,她看上了一个丰神俊朗，宛如谪仙的男人，眉眼带笑，眼底却冷漠。玉熙很中意，晚宴没结束就找过去。
“娶妻了吗？”
男人笑意温和，“尚未。”
很好，玉熙点头，“明日本宫要去上香，你来护送。”

温柔体贴，会关心人。玉熙太满意了，叮嘱他一定要来公主府。

I feel like the characterization of Yu Xi was a little weird. She has amnesia that reduces her memories to when she's 12. While she has amnesia she reverts to acting childish which makes sense but I would've liked for there to be more of a difference between the 12 and 22 year old Yu Xi in how they act. Because the Yu Xi from before amnesia lowkey seems like a stuck up rule follower (one concubine immediately kneels and begs for mercy for having the emperor favor her for 5 nights in a row when the max is 3 because pre amnesia Yu Xi would've punished her), a good pillar for her younger brother as he's establishing his authority but not fun to be around. But after she regains her memories she stays pretty similar to how she was when she had amnesia which I feel is a missed opportunity for her to confront the reason why she changed so much from when she was 12 and the possibility that people like the 12 year old her rather than her 22 year old self.
For the other characters I feel like what the text tells you about them vs what is actually shown doesn't line up. Yu Xi's brother is concerned about the people that want to harm his older sister so he sends highly qualified guards of his own to watch over her. But someone she still ends up getting kidnapped. Does her brother not like her as much as the text presents or is he just incompetent? I would wonder if the antagonist was OP or something but it was only him and like 10 others, with none showing the smarts to act as an advisor for him. Another is how Yu Xi and Song Mingyin discuss how none of the concubines currently in the harem are suitable for the position of empress and listed all their flaws but it didn't feel believable because only one of the listed concubines had their bad behavior shown. For the other I was wondering how arrogant could be used to describe her. I know that they're side characters but if they're going to have discussions like this I feel like the concubines in Song Mingyin's harem should've had a little more screentime. Also Song Mingyin himself should've had more screentime. I also felt that the relationship between the siblings didn't feel as close as the summary suggested.
The reason for why Yu Xi and Fu Annian divorce felt laughable. Fake nonchalance kills. I felt like despite the whole story centering on their relationship it still didn't feel like it was developed enough.
It also did not help that the translation I read was kinda bad. Pronouns were jumbled, character names weren't consistent in spelling, and the character's names were switched with other names. I only found out the third after sitting confused as to how it made sense for a character to be doing something until I realized the name was switched for some reason.

February 3, 20252/2/25 I can't in fairness rate this book since I read like half of it? The beginning and then the end - didn't want to get into all the stupid misunderstandings and shit - it was nice to read the sweetness. [AND EVEN THEN THERE WERE MISUNDERSTANDINGS. SIGH.]
Not mad I read it, but definitely happy I read it the way I did - going through, I very well may have DNF'd it. And reading the extras, the references to what had happened - plus already how much conflict there was in the "happy times" ... I knew it'd be not for me.
Did very much enjoy the extras. LOL [still kinda can't believe they were married for 3 years and never had sex, esp when he was so horny for her, and they were in love. Just ... ]
