"Sometimes it was only a half-smile, a nod of his head, a lift of his chin, a quirk of a brow. No matter the action, the result was the same—a long night of no sleep in Chase’s bed."
My relationship with Chase Adams was always casual. Neither of us was looking for more. When I’m home in Creek Valley for the holiday to help with our family business, I’ll inevitably run into Chase. It’s also inevitable I’ll end up in his bed.
However, there’s something in the air this year. After being gone for years, things are different between us.
Because my friends-with-benefits hookup may be exactly what’s missing from my life.
This was super sweet hallmark movie-esqe lovers to more. Snowed in, one bed. The work. Gooey christmas novella galore. The characters were older, almost 40, that was refreshing.
Chase and Gia have been friends-with-benefits for years when they've both been single and Gia's home from California. She's currently home to help her dad after his accident and Chase is her second stop when back in town. Something feels different this time around for both of them and getting stuck together at Chase's during a blizzard changes everything.
Chase and Gia get their happy ending in this standalone novella in a series.
I feel, without much of their backstory as friends, we didn't get a feel for them as a couple. Sure they had some chemistry but would that last for a long-term relationship when they both made it to almost forty without a live-in partner? Or at least it seemed like Chase didn't. I do wonder what Gia's family thought of all this as we got a glimpse into Chase's sister loving Gia.
So happy to see that Chase finds love. Or maybe he already found it but it got away. When Gia walks into the pharmacy; he just might get a chance at love. She is in town after her father took a fall. Reading the story to see if she would fall was very entertaining. Lots of happy feelings and quick visits with past characters.
