She swore off men to achieve her goal until he walked back into her life
Just as Maren Patterson is about to achieve her dream of competing in the Iditarod, she loses her championship team and takes on a cast-off string of dogs. Broke and homeless, she has fourteen huskies to feed and no place to keep them.
After his friend’s tragic death, Seth Nelson retires from the Coast Guard and returns to Lake Superior’s North Shore to forge a new life and restore his late grandfather’s house. The last thing he expects is to find his childhood sweetheart and her pack of dogs dwelling on his property.
Maren and her rambunctious huskies put a crimp in his plans, but there’s something about them that might be exactly what he needs. Can he overcome his survivor’s guilt and convince Maren that they belong together?
Can Maren resist her undeniable attraction to the man who still possesses a piece of her heart? Maybe, just maybe, the key to achieving one dream lies with the acceptance of another she hadn’t realized she still cherished.
I really loved this book and could not stop reading it. The writer makes you feel as if you are experiencing this adventure first hand. I can’t wait for a continuation of Maren and Seth’s life together and what their future holds!
Maren’s Team gives a fascinating peek inside the world of competitive dogsledding through the eyes of a female musher while telling the story of former teen sweethearts who meet again later in life. The author develops her characters well, showing us that Maren and Seth have both collected personal baggage while living their lives apart. In the course of their reunion, they find that adult love proves much more challenging than it was in their younger relationship. Throughout this book, I was rooting for them to find a way to overcome their difficulties and forge a lasting bond.
