When I get tricked by a witch and wake up in my favorite vampire dating simulator on a quest for true love the rules are find true love, win the game, and I get to go home.
Easy breezy, right?
Not when the game’s most fearsome character walks into my virtual world.
Cade Graves.
He’s the character I always avoid because he never fails to take me out (and not in the bring me roses and chocolates kinda way) every time I play the game, but if he’s so dangerous then why am I drawn to him and the dangerous game we play? Will I ever get home or is it game over for me?
Rebel Carter loves love. So much in fact that she decided to write the love stories she desperately wanted to read. A book by Rebel means diverse characters, sexy banter, a real big helping of steamy scenes, and, of course, a whole lotta heart.
Rebel lives in Colorado, makes a mean espresso, and is hell-bent on filling your bookcase with as many romance stories as humanly possible!
When I saw this book I was so excited since it basically contains everything I like. Isekai'd into a video game and vampires? Say no more, I'm sold.
Sadly, the pacing and time frame of this story make me want to bang my head against the wall.
Day 1: Bonnie's boyfriend breaks up with her, leaving her crying her heart out. Day 2: Bonnie got teleported into the video game and checks out some of the men that were romanceable in the game. Day 3: Cade luv of my life
Maybe I forgot one day in-between but why are we on such a time crunch anyway?
It’s really between a 3.5 and a 4. There are just soooo many typos. So many errors. So many plot holes. And it’s also really unbelievable in some ways. Not that vampires and fairy godmothers and soulmates aren’t unbelievable (sadly), but because there has to be some semblance of logic and sense in order to enjoy this story. And that logic - especially relating to sequences of events - is just MISSING so much of the time. For instance, the greatest timespan that happens in this book (1 month’s time) happens in the epilogue!!! The ENTIRE adventure and EVERYTHING of the rest of the book takes place over 2-3 days. DAYS!! It makes no sense and didn’t have to be that way. All that needed to be done was have her train, go to bed, have the first thing happen, go to bed, next thing, go to bed, etc. You get me? At least WEEKS or MONTHS would’ve made more sense than 2….days!!! It’s so WEAK.
The synopsis sounded so amazing. I was sooo looking forward to epic world-building and I was hoping this would be a series, not a standalone. THAT was a MAJOR letdown
But then you have how darn cute the two of them are together when things click. Not to mention the irreverence and the banter and funny moments in the book that made me smile. And…?!! I don’t know. But at least there’s no angst in this one! Sometimes I need a break from that.
I guess if you’re looking for a really cute, unbelievable romcom, this is it. If you want more substance, this is NOT it.
Slay Alive is a fast-paced book about a heartbroken woman who ends up being inside the vampire-dating simulator she adored playing. To escape this fictional world, she only needs to find love there. Easy-peasy, right?
The beginning had me absolutely hooked - a pity it didn’t last long. The plot and narration, so fresh and interesting at first, became repetitive and highly predictable with time. The romance was ‘meh’ and I barely lasted till the end. Not recommend.
Tropes: vampire game simulator, enemies to lovers, soulmates, steamy, HEA
This is my second Rebel Carter book, and I love it just as much as the first one I read (seriously, if you haven't read 'The Time I Took Down A Cult' go do that). This book is funny, sarcastic, sweet, and a fun read. It's a great book for a reading slump, or when you're waiting for the next book in a series to come out, or even if you just want something a little lighter. I'm officially a Rebel fan, and cannot wait to see what she comes out with next
Beautifully written! The characters are amazing, the plot is fantastic! This a completely unique and different vampire story! It sucks you in and keeps you guessing from start to finish, it is full of fun, witty characters that delivers one surprise drafter another! It is out of this world with unbelievable twist and turns. You will be surprised and amazed at the ending! Enjoy!
I was really excited about the concept, but it didn’t pay off. I’ve read a lot of fanfictions where the person is sucked into the story, and that’s what it reminded me of - unfortunately, so did the quality of the writing. Insta love, and the mic is written like how a teenage girl would write a boyfriend. Disappointing.
If you like Buffy or Twilight, then you are going to love this!🧛 It was sooo good! It was funny, sexy, interesting… I wish it would have been a series and also more spice wouldn’t hurt🫦👀
I absolutely loved this story! The concept was original, the characters were funny and interesting. It was a good cozy thrill. 10/10 would recommend to anyone that like vampires and playing role play video games!!!!
This story was fantastic, I loved the book so much. Cade and Bonnie make an absolutely perfect couple. The story was cheesy and romantic in all the right ways i highly recommend it!:)
This story was just what I needed. I love following Rebel on her writing journey. Her books never disappoint! You’ll fall in love with this story too, I promise!
