this is poetry that is also a life story. it's very beautiful and very simple and packs a punch. i ache for the girl who had to spend so much time outside her body. the author is now called samuel ace and, from having been to one of his readings, i can attest that he seems fine and happy. so this is a story with a happy ending.

Although a few nice poetic moments shone through, on the whole this felt like reading something that someone would scribble down after a particularly traumatic therapy session, and reading a whole book’s worth of those scribblings deadened the feelings one would think would come with reading about such intense trauma.

“My niece looks around the corner where her only interpretation of me is a man in a hat who hides his eyes because that’s exactly who I am Red jacket and lips and the way I place my hands up to my face and rub down my chin

What would life be without translation?”

Wow, didn't realize I read this book almost a year ago. It's like nothing else. It hurts but I really liked it.
