I had to take my time with this because I had the honor of reading an advance arc and I’ve actually read this and gone back to read the first and re-read again. There will be no spoilers in this review. I have to say Sapphira is truly a bad ass FMC and I really enjoyed her growth. That being said the writing style has significantly changed from book 1 to book 2 and book 2’s journey is more intense and challenging. The details and world building and the details of conflicts (one scene that kinda spans near chapter 7-8-9 and you’ll know when you get there is unlike anything I’ve ever read but Ophelia I am in love!!! Thank you so much for allowing me to read this as this was quite the ride.
I am so thankful to have been able to get an advanced copy of this, a brilliant follow on from The Promise of Rage and Harmony The story and world building from book one only followed through and smashed the roof here. I felt so immersed in the first part of this series and somehow feel like I fell even deeper in here. I was so anxious to see what had happened to the MCs after the cliff-hanger we were left on, and this does not disappoint. The promise of destruction and chaos has twice as many chapters as it's earlier counterpart with so much more detail and immersion and it helped me feel so much closer to all of the characters, I absolutely loved seeing so many points of view, although at times it got me a little confused, I felt so much more connected to them and felt like I understood them so much more. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster of emotions reading this; anger, betrayal, loss, happiness, betrayal, anger, sadness and so forth. It kept me on my toes, it was especially so surprising to get a small, (short-lived) redemption arc and i loved it. The ending was somewhat predictable, but in a good way, only knowing due to the foreshadowing and knowing what the MCs had found out and shared, yet it still still surprised me and didn't turn out how I expected it at all, and I feel like that's what made this so thrilling to read, I felt like I was one of the characters, only knowing what they know and told and slowly piecing things together as times moved forward. I don't particularly know how I feel about the ending- given the nature of the FMC and all that's happened to her, it felt a bit fairy-tale ish but at the same time she deserves a happy ending. If there are any future additions to this duology, I have so many questions, there are so many things that could happen yet there's no way or truly knowing what could happen, and I love that so much.
I was so happy to be able to receive this arc. I enjoyed the 1st book so much and that cliffhanger was cruel so this was a must ASAP.
It picked up right where we left off in book one. Sapphira is just as bad@ss as ever in book two. Her sarcasm and quick wit still always amazes me and has me laughing out loud.
I really enjoy the dynamic of Sapphira and Severin because she is very independent and he knows it so he doesn’t try to control her and shove her into this box. I loved how even though a massive war is raging on the horizon he trusts her enough to handle herself.
I found myself loving characters that I didn’t think would be possible and those last few chapters were a ride let me tell you. Twists happened and tears were shed. I won’t say whether it was happy or sad. That’s for you to find out come November 😉
*please note you must read The Promise of Rage and Harmony before this book*

Sapphira and Severin both left off on questionable paths. Each of their choices leading to a fate they are both unsure of. Sapphira is left to navigate a new type of life within enemy walls, unsure on who to trust. Severin torn between family and love. Will the loss be too much for him or will it make him stronger? Follow Severin, Sapphira and their friends on their final journey together filled with magic, love and twists.
I had the pleasure of reading this as an ARC reader, and I just have to say how much I thoroughly enjoyed. This review will have no spoilers, but this will definitely be on my reread list.
This work is a dark, steamy romantasy that picks up right where the first leaves off (you must read The Promise of Rage and Harmony first!!), and keeps you on your toes throughout your reading.
All characters show such wonderful growth, but Sapphira's was so perfect to me. Sapphira is not only a badass, but her character stays true to who she was, and shows natural growth which I think is sometimes lost in sequels. I found myself loving characters I would never have guessed from the first book. I felt like I was right along with them, facing the same trials they were. Truly special.
I really loved how effortless, and seamless the world building was. I loved discovering things as other characters did, and the how background information/past were woven in without it being a history lesson (which wouldn't have been awful since this world is so amazing).
Please brace yourself for the ending. Bittersweet, and perfect truly. I hope that Ophelia continues on in this universe.
This two book series is one you absolutely must read back to back because once you start, you just HAVE to know what happens! The first book is like a short little intro. We get some character backgrounds, love interest are developed and the plot really begins to unfold! The start of the second book picks up right where the first left off (WHICH I LOVED!!) which helps with the story flow!
Ophelia did an amazing job with these characters! Sapphira really was the token older sister who cared for everyone but saw herself as a monster. Ivy plays the annoying little sister who has been sheltered from real life and is seen as overly selfish until something life changing happens. Severin is just baby. He has no idea what’s going on 99% of the time, but he is all good vibes and love. Knox is daddy. I said what I said. AMIR IS THE ONE THAT THREW ME THROUGH A LOOP THOUGH! I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT IN BOOK 2 MA’AM!!!
These books were a nice little escape from reality ♥️
For Both Books: Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️ Magic: 🪄🪄🪄🪄 Ease of Reading: 📚📚📚📚
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read your books Ophelia ♥️
A dark, seductive romantasy filled with danger, magic, and a world full of interesting characters. It's gripping and intense. We pick up where the promise of rage and harmony ends. We go through so many trials and tribulations. You are rooting for characters you think you never would. The plot unravels itself in a smooth manner. It's definitely characters driven, which i enjoyed so much. Sapphira, you could feel her anger and emotion. Sev, who would burn the world down for his love and risk everything. The smut was juicy props to Ophelia it did not disappoint. The ending, my gosh, i gasped its heartwrenching. I had some idea, but i was not prepared. I just love the found family in this book. It's incredible I love these characters. I've seen them from the beginning, and saying goodbye is bittersweet but also sad. Everything coming full circle made my heart so happy. I'm gonna miss this world Opeliah created she knows just how much I love her books i mean, i literally wait on her text for the next wip. 🖤
My insides physically hurt. I mean what a beautiful ending to such an emotionally driven story, but my inside hurt... I can't process this right now... I may actually be sick. 🙃🙃
I don't want more, I NEED more. There is so much to unpack even now after the second installment. The way I literally CRIED more than once is outrageous. 🫣🫣😭😭
The war, the demons, the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Holy moly this was a lot and it was PERFECT! I cannot wait to see how this story continues to unfold. Ophelia perfectly curated a world with these characters and things just make sense. Did I love that certain things had to happen? No, but you know what, it had to. I get it, but I am unwell.
Also, that EPILOGUE! I thought Chapter 17 was going to destroy me in all the best ways possible, but the epilogue mended me and gave me hope that I am almost certain will be destroyed in the next installment... 🫠🫠
I don't have words. It was amazing, perfect, and without flaw. 🫶😭
First off, Ma'am chapter 38 hurt like hell, and I wish it didn't end that way!
Second, I was able to read an early copy of this book, and I swallowed it in 3 days(work got in the way of faster reading). It was amazing! I'm very happy with how the characters developed over time, I couldn't really stand Ivy in book one, but in book 2, I came to understand her and why she was the way she was. This book does have a happy ending, but maybe not the way you were expecting, or who, I may say. This fantasy world was amazing to expirence and I highly recommend you read this book! I have a feeling.. it isn't over yet!
I absolutely DEVOURED this book, as I was anxiously awaiting to see how the story unfolded as book 1 ended on a cliffhanger.
It did NOT disappoint, by any means. I positively LOVED the development of the characters throughout the story and that the FMC is such a bad ass.
I will say I was in tears towards the end, but the very end came around to be bittersweet and leave me with a smile on my face..... and I'm not gonna lie, I kinda wish Ophelia Reign decides this isn't the final book & ends up choosing to continue on with the story [obviously shifting focus as to who are the main characters].
What would you sacrifice to save the people you love?
Book 2 brought twists and turns I never saw coming. The war kept me on my toes and had me rooting for characters I originally hated. The character growth of not only our main characters, but all supporting characters, brought everyone full circle. I was heavily invested in not only Sapphira & Severin's story, but Ivy & Knox, Amir, Ewan, Dimitri and some other unexpected characters.
And sometimes the endings you expect and hope for are not the ones you get, you get something better.
I love this series. So sad it’s over. Literally crying. But I will read anything that Ms. Ophelia… sorry she’s married now 😍 Mrs. Ophelia writes. At first I’m not gonna lie I was a bit bored in the beginning because Sapphira was being a “good girl” but after what happened to Jules granddaughter and she went off on the wolves I read it quick ! I truly am impressed. I think I speak for everyone who read the series that we need an Ivy and Knox spin off 🙂. And you know what honestly fuck Lillie … after what I read yea I’m happy she’s gone. Knox is better off without her. My pup 🥹😍

Book 2 of the Dark Witch Chronicles and it picks you right where book 1 leaves off. The intensity picks up on page one and doesn't stop through the entire book. You really feel for all the characters and I was so invested in everything that was happening. The last couple of chapters, especially, had me on the edge of my seat and in literal tears. I was so shocked that I had to set the book down to cry. I loved it lol
Ohf I'm crying. Gaah I wasn't expecting that ending but it's the ending that fit, and then the hint for more, love it. I love the characters and I hope to see more. A war between gods witches humans wolves and demons. I feel like this was just a staging ground getting ready for so much more. All that being said I do have a favorite moment and it's very bloody and I couldn't stop smiling and feeling pride. It was justified
A perfect sequel/conclusion to the 1st book. It picked up from where it left off and had many twists and turns. Kept me on my toes and the multi-POVs gave great detail and background to other characters as well. The climax and I enjoyed the overall world building. I highly recommend if you want an interesting Witch, Werewolf and Demon filled dark fantasy.
This one was really good and I like the way the story ended, but there were a lot more grammar errors in this one which unfortunately takes me out of the story a bit while I’m reading.
I still definitely recommend it though, especially if those things don’t bother you
