This little blessing of a book almost literally fell into my lap as we moved things on our table at Duke's Slickrock Grill in Hanksville, Utah. Duke's also gets a five star rating, but that's another story. The Slickrock Grill keeps an eclectic collection of books on the restaurant tables, so it's natural while waiting to be waited on to randomly pick up a book and randomly open to a page. So began the aforementioned blessing. These writings from the heart went straight to my heart, immediately leaving me feeling a little less alone. We could all use more of that feeling. One page led to another, to the point my reading even delayed my diving into the brisket I always order on my semiannual trips through Hanksville. If you knew me you would appreciate what an extraordinary complement that is.
Authentic, unpretentious, a distilled essence of the life experience, "Without a Sound" hit the mark with me. I hope it hits the mark with others, both because it is a worthy piece of literature, and because I hope there are other people out there who can appreciate it. Don Ray.
