I’m in recovery mode after bingeing 7 thrillers in a row, so now I’m bingeing this cute series which is the opposite of a thriller, but is nonetheless quick, cozy reads. I am a retired librarian so I can relate to Jim very well, and I love cats, so I am enjoying Ginger even though I haven’t myself become acquainted with any talking cats yet. It is a silly premise, but pure fun. Not only am I recovering from having binge-read 7 thrillers, but I am also in the midst of a lot of dental work including a root canal, so light and silly is purrrfectly aligned with what I need to be reading right now. I also got the audiobooks of the series since they were pretty inexpensive, and even though Ginger has a voice worthy of a cartoon character, they are pretty well done too. The plots are maybe a little predictable, but not entirely, the characters are good. I’m on to book 3.

I've enjoyed reading the series so far, but not sure I'll continue. They're definitely light reading and good for passing the time. I'm frequently annoyed by the repetitiveness. When you've already said something, it doesn't need repeating several times more. The really irritating thing is how often characters are described as running their hands through their hair. It was at least 6 or 8 times in the first book, and even more in this one. It really started to grate on me. And how many times do you need to say Jim's hair is thinning. I got it the first time.

Ginger’s one of the best talking cats in cozy mysteries! I just love his snark and sometimes priceless quotes, lol. Jim’s got a great PI partner in the cat who keeps him on task at times and other times when he’s not snarking, he does say just the right things. Ginger kept the atmosphere as a good cozy mystery since the missing girl storyline was serious but had a good outcome. Jim probably never suspected he’d have an adventure like this let alone with a talking cat!

I'm loving this series immensely!
This was a fantastic mixture of drama and humor! I absolutely love the interaction between Jim and Ginger. Ginger may act all grumpy and sarcastic, but there's a real caring kitty beneath that gruff exterior. There were scenarios in this mystery that I was reading so fast my eyes could hardly keep up with my brain! I adore this series!!!!

A retired man solving mysteries with a talking cat only he can hear makes delightful reading! Read the Pork Pie mysteries when you finish this series as there is a talking dog in those and more danger!
