Abigail Lalonde knows something strange is happening to the kids on her street. One by one, they are changing. Life is vanishing from the neighbourhood. When she is awoken in the middle of the night by a creepy figure in her backyard surrounded by orbs of light, she knows this can’t be a coincidence. Soon, the sinister presence turns his attention toward Abigail and her younger sister Jenny, desperate to steal something they both have. Aided by an enigmatic shapeshifting ally, Abigail will uncover mysteries and learn of a secret war being waged in the shadows. She will have to place herself in danger and confront the threat terrorizing her friends and family to save them. Thankfully, she has a Spark!

“I think the cover is too young-looking for the story. The story is good with an exciting plot and lots of suspense. It’s a bit difficult to follow in parts and I felt that the ending was rushed. But, overall, it’s a fun adventure.” Girl, aged 12, with a little help from her TA

The best part is the beginning as I enjoyed getting to know the family. I didn’t love the last part as it felt too fast, and was over too soon.
