Readers’ Comments
“This is a fun adventure with fantasy in it too. It’s unpredictable and there’s a little humour too. I think 8 – 12 year olds will enjoy it the most.” Boy, aged 12
“I think the cover is too young-looking for the story. The story is good with an exciting plot and lots of suspense. It’s a bit difficult to follow in parts and I felt that the ending was rushed. But, overall, it’s a fun adventure.” Girl, aged 12, with a little help from her TA
“I liked Abigail a lot. She’s brave and determined to find out what’s happening. It’s never a dull story, and I followed 90% of it. The best part is the beginning as I enjoyed getting to know the family. I didn’t love the last part as it felt too fast, and was over too soon. There’s mystery in it and fantasy too.” Girl, aged 11, with a little help from mum
“Spooky, but not scary. And exciting too. The author’s good at speech and plotting. If there’s a second book, I’d read it. I sort of wish it had been longer. Way too short.” Girl, aged 12
“I think the author should re-write the story, but as a proper novel, not a short story. It’s difficult to care about the characters when you only get to know them for such a short time.” Girl, aged 12
“I was just getting into it, and it ended! Too short for a 11 or 12 year old. What’s the rush!?” Girl, aged 12

To Sum It Up:
‘A thrilling, suspense-filled fantasy adventure that’s over way too soon.’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards

Sparks Will Fly!

Whirlwind of colourful imagery in this action-adventure story involving an unsettling disturbance in suburbia. Our heroine is a young girl with a keen eye for observation and a will to courageously stand despite fear. Dynamic environments, full characters, and epic face-offs make this surreal read a wild, exciting ride. Beyond all this, metaphors about life manifest and morals to be gained. Uplifting finish would make this one a favoured classic for kids.
