Mikhail isn’t greedy, no! He’s simply thrifty, practical. And he cannot fathom how anyone can leave trophies behind on the battlefield. No way does that mean he’s stealing them! And of course Mikhail isn't a slave master! Although those who he corralled into signing service contracts might not agree.
The earth mages, for example, who are still busy erecting all sorts of structures toward the successful development of Mikhail’s county. They work in three shifts with no days off.
Meanwhile, Mikhail continues to attract the notice of the emperor, who has even invited him to the capital for a reception....But is that a good thing? And how will the other aristocrats feel about it?
Ohhhh man! Soooooooo friggen fun. I really love Kooky, he's a good pigeon, my favorite pigeon, such a good boy, oh yes he is! And Mikhail and Kooky are making their final raid on the offworlder city that was laying siege to Bulatov's castle. The offworlders had no idea of what was really goin on! And yeah Kooky’s a good burdie! But yeah they emptied the offworlder's castle and started a fight between the city guards and the faceless trying to protect the castle! After all that Mikhail has'ta deal with his own people, the Emperor, the Merchants, and make more money 💰! Money to fund his endeavors!
Here's a couple of quotes and one from Kooky for ya:
“Cooo!” he spread his wings “Cooo-coo-coo,” he ran his wing across his throat. “Cooo-coo-cooooo!!! “Hey, no need for that kind of language!” “Cooo...” he uttered by way of apology. “Who taught you to swear like a sailor?”
"She looked in horror at my wound. It was big enough to put not just your hand, but your foot through it. By the way, it made it easy for me to scratch my back. Perhaps I could just keep it there for awhile."
“I always carry a spare heart inside me. By the way, would you like one, too?”"I gave him such a bad case of the hiccups that he choked to death."
"I gave him such a bad case of the hiccups that he choked to death."
Here is my dilemma. This iteration of Russian fantasy LitRPG has several problems: (1) this is volume 11 and much new or significant has developed in the story over the last three or four volumes. The other-worlder Max, a healer, continues on his overpowered way to accumulate wealth and power while posing as a weak aristocrat from the back country. (2) While Max protects his people and keeps his promises, he is still often an asshole, such as giving his medical students perpetual hiccups for failing a quiz or working his enslaved mages to the point of near death or failing to take any romantic notice of his fiance after six months. (3) Russian fantasy in general tends to be traditionalist on matters of gender and sexuality and even libertarian (one lone, good aristocrat against everyone else, doing what he alone things right)--and so not in synch with my tastes. On the other hand, it came out yesterday and I finished it that day. Go figure.
folks I'm way behind on this one. I've had the arc for a while, and I failed to get it read in a timely manner. no excuses just the way it is. anyway I finally got it read, fixing to start Book 12 cuz I just received the arc for that one. the Uber all powerful healer is of course making his lands stronger and better. big construction this time was a port. can't wait to see what he pulls out of his butt next. LOL I mean come on he knows a little bit about everything, and his little bit is quite a lot. still it's a good story, especially if you're really into overpowered characters.
7/10 it's a decent read. I'm not sure why I stopped reading it a little over halfway but I did. not going to make excuses I don't know if I was sick or what at the time. but it didn't deserve to be dropped. so I'm glad I finished it.
I received a review copy of this book. Well, this book does have some action in it, and some of it is rather amusing, but I think mainly, this volume was to setup for what's coming next. Many of the moves made in this book are clearly setup for what comes next, so I'm looking forward to the next book with great anticipation, if the build up in this one is any indication, that book is going to be a great joy to read. But, even so, this one has our main character closing portals, exploiting them in the process for untold treasures, and of course, spreading around malities to those who annoy him the most. Great fun all by itself. Here's hoping the next book is as good as it sounds like it will be.
Book 10 had renewed my faith. I was suckered in to book 11 because book 10 was good. Things were different, it wasn't the same old plot line and repetitive crap. Book 11 was a lie though! We're back to the same old repetitive story line more pigeons, more enemies, not eradicating old enemies, and somehow the action scenes are getting way more boring. We're back to a standstill of nothing happening Except the readers pay more money. I'm seeing this a lot more in books and I'm starting to think it's time for Amazon and Kindle to start proofreading every book and setting the prices instead of just letting these money rackets continue.
Even though there's not much progress of the plot and a definitive Kookie deficit, i loved the book. New enemies, more bounty and more reasons for the best boss award!(not to mention the minor awards for best diplomat and bodyguard..) and new escapades of the hero's soulmate made the book a truly delightful read!
For some reason the hero even seems to develop a strong aversion against hospitals and doctors and falls in love with the peaceful atmosphere in the capital..
The Heal Others Way, Book 11 was another exciting adventure—I genuinely enjoyed every bit of it. While not as much happens compared to some of the earlier books, you can tell a lot of groundwork is being laid for what’s to come. And honestly? I still loved every minute of it.
Makes more enemies haven't gotten rid of any of the other ones yet except for maybe one. And the whole stupid oh I can take care of them later is so dumb. He literally had one of the Patriarchs in front of them and all he did was give him erectile dysfunction instead of killing him from a heart attack 2 Days Later or something. so dumb
A great progression (yes a play on the title). Wow oh wow is there adventure. Lots of action. Nikhil Continues to raid portals, and really makes life difficult for one evil being. Then back to the capital for fun and games. Crazy stupid aristocrats. Even Victoria gets a bit of fun. Great book. Anxiously awaiting the next.
Better character development and the plotline moved along well instead of stagnating on one issue. The books are fun, and silly and fast-paced. Entertaining and enjoyable still and that's really all that matters. Look forward to the next book in the series!
I was so into the book I didn’t even look to check if I was nearing the end. Now I’m at a lost. Next book isn’t out til August. It just came to a stop. Not a cliffhanger per se just stopped at a soft point. I need book 12 like now.
There is a lot of death defying action in this book….and some of it from completely unexpected sources. Mikhail is facing intrigue and schemes from every direction, as he moves his plans forward
This series was interesting and fun but has become repetitive and long winded. Nothing like getting to know a character and then having to wait until something new comes along. The author just piles on more. Nothing is ever resolved.
