(Much later, when David thanked her for being the spark that ignited his writing career, she revealed that she’d given him the notebook to keep him quiet, "because every mom needs a break now and then.”)

This was a great story. I wonder if it might not be loosely based on a real trial?

I read a Calamity of Souls. It is a good read. The focus is a murder trial in 1968 in southern Virginia. Two attorneys one black and one white defend an innocent family. The racism described in the book is graphic. David Baldacci is an excellent author.

Has times changed since 1968? Great read, excellent plot and characters realistic! Narrators great!💕📖💕
