The King of the North Pole was supposed to be an ally. He wasn't supposed to burn my kingdom in the South Pole to the ground and destroy everything I knew and loved. As the new Queen, I'll take my revenge no matter what it costs me.
But Nicholas, the immortal Saint, is far more powerful than I ever imagined. And when he flips the script on my assassination attempt, I find myself running through a frosty woods, trying to outrun and outsmart the vicious and brutal ruler.
Three Days. If I can evade him for just three days, he promises he'll let me go. But if he catches me before midnight on Christmas day, then the only gift I'll be finding under the tree is my worst nightmare:
A wedding dress.
Hunted in Holly is a Dark Romance Christmas novella that takes a spicy holiday twist on The Most Dangerous Game. This high stakes game of Cat and Mouse will keep you as on edge as our heroine, with magic and heat amidst the twisted romance. You'll love it if you prefer your enemies to lovers romance with an immortal, morally gray love interest who loves the primal chase of his very, very "good girl."
Leann Belle was born and raised in Los Angeles as an eternal dreamer, a hardcore gamer, and obsessive anime, manga, and JRPG nerd. Having fallen in love with countless villains, she immediately fell in love with the dark side of romance, and her lifelong love affair with Japanese horror and fantasy has heavily influenced her writing style as she crafts vicious and magical worlds.
When she’s not typing away behind her laptop, she’s living out of a tent off the back of her motorcycle on her quest to ride around the world. The wilderness is the best place to catch up on reading, after all!
Filthy. Primal. Dark. Entertaining. And a bloody merry Christmas. 4.5 🖤
This was everything I didn't know I needed this season. A twist on Santa & Mrs Claus meeting and getting together. 🎅🏻🤶🏻 High stakes and cunning MCs.
🌐Worldbuilding was impeccable and so comprehensive and thorough for such a short novella, it genuinely surprised me.
And the bigger surprise? A plot twist that is not something I expected and done so well that it genuinely caught me off guard.
I only have 2 tiny reasons I am not giving this a 5-star rating: 1) I wish there was an epilogue because I felt I needed the bit of follow-up since this was fantasy and there was so much at stake. 2) I wish we got more into Nicholas' head and understood why he was waiting for her, more background on him and why he never took a bride before, and just a paragraph or 2 more of show for this connection from his side.
I have received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, and I am gladly and happily leaving this unbiased review.
-- You're telling me it's a Cat & Mouse-themed Christmas novella where Saint Nicholas is the morally grey MMC? And I got the ARC? 🤭
So, it's been kind of a long year full of emotionally heavy and complex books, and I didn't actually intend to write this book at all, but after both Of Monsters and Mazes and Zodiac Monsters back to back, I REALLY needed a hard, dirty, low stress, and dark mental palette cleanser (why am I like this?), so naturally that turned into Santa hunting his future wife through the woods for spicy times
If you're like me and have always wanted a Christmas story that's a little less saccharine, and is instead full of primal kink, nutmeg, and running through the snow and the pine trees, this is for you 😂
Saint Nicholas, ruler of the north Pole, has annihilated Carolines entire family. As heir to the South Pole, she feels it is her duty to seek revenge against the ruthless tyrant. Making her way through the frozen tundra, she plans her retaliation against the legendary immortal. Unfortunately for her, there is a very thin line between love and hate. Even determination to slay her enemy can't dispel the pull she has to Nicholas. Can merciless advisories form an elience?
A fantasy Christmas based enemies to lovers.
My Thoughts
Legends come to life in this twisty, dirty, Novella. It was cute, enduring, and spicy. It's definitely a fun read to kick start my Christmas spirit.
There isn't much to say with how short it is. I found Caroline's fiery spirit a pleasure to encounter. She knows what she wants and goes after it. Be it vengeance or desire, she submits to her own will with complete passion. She is feisty, loyal, and in touch with her emotions. Even when she leaps before looking, she does so with her whole being. Nothing half-hearted about her.
Nicholas is the perfect novella boyfriend. Sweet but dangerous. Caring in a burn the world down kinda way. He'll do anything to protect Caroline, even if it means sacrificing himself.
Christmas and Santa will have a whole meaning after this fun read.
Hunted in Holly tells the story of Caroline and Saint Nicholas. Caroline seeks revenge on Saint Nicholas for crimes she believes he’s committed. But she gets caught in the process and is offered a deal. Escape him by Christmas and he will let her go. If he catches her, she will become his wife. But not everything is what it seems. Will Caroline decide he might be what she wants in the end?
I loved the primal play and the enemies to lovers vibe. I loved Saint Nicholas and his dominance and arrogance. Caroline was fierce but I found her to be a little annoying at times because of her innocence. As for the story itself, because it was so short it didn’t have time to create a real love connection between the MCs. I will also add the spice was not spicing haha. But the few bits we do get was pretty hot.
This was such a cute low stress spicy christmas novella. Honestly got lost in the pages and was sad it was over already definitely an easy fast paced read and I think its a great option for those who want to try christmas books more on the dark side with some spice
***thank you BookSiren and Leann for allowing me to read and review***
4.5⭐️
This was sooo good! Honestly wish it was longer so we could get more world building and more about our characters cause I loved them!!
However there was decent enough world building to enjoy the story and the spice was 🥵🥵 it’s up there in chili Peppers (🌶️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️) not so much for the amount of spice but for what’s actually taking place during. For the length of the novel I would say it’s a good balance of spice and plot.
The ending was great, kinda figured where it was going based on the theme of the book but still enjoyed it immensely!
Definitely Dark, Primal, and questionable consent in inside of this book.
Would definitely recommend for a quick and spicy Christmas read with a dark and twisted Saint Nicolas and a cunning and resourceful FMC!
A super quick Christmas novella but don’t expect twinkling lights n garlands with this one 🤭 Nope, this is more a Saint of the North Pole though I most definitely say saint with tongue in cheek given he has red eyes, a devious nature and loves to hunt his prey.
His prey being our FMC Queen of the South Pole with more than a little Christmas spirit 🎄🧊❄️🥶
All in all, a totally different Christmas story and quite enjoyable 🎅🏻
First time reading dark fantasy and just in time for Christmas. It was very fun, the writing is good, the story line is fun. Honestly just wish there was more! But if you’re looking for a fun read during the holidays would definitely recommend 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Caroline is the new queen of the South Pole, having ascended after her family was murdered by henchmen sent by the North Pole ruler, Nicholas (or so she thinks). Revenge is the only thing on her mind as she makes the trek northward and breaches the perimeter of the North Pole and Nicholas’s estate.
I really got into this one. The cat and mouse dynamic between Nicholas and Caroline was soooo enjoyable. I love how dark and dangerous Nicholas is, and how his smex appeal is portrayed across the pages. Caroline is an interesting character to me: she’s dangerous but young, having not fully come into her powers yet. She’s attracted to Nicholas but also really wants to kill him… but also doesn’t, at the same time.
Nicholas’s little challenge to Caroline that if she can evade him for 3 days, until Christmas, she will be set free really made things fun. The different points of view is hike Caroline is fleeing for her life and Nicholas is hunting her is so enjoyable. I love both of their trickery during this part of the story.
Leann Belle, if you read this, how about giving us a sequel with these two characters??
HOL(L)Y SHIT THIS BOOK WAS AWESOME! From start to finish, I was in a state of pure hype!
I read this book while I was visiting London, pulling my ereader out of my bag every second I spent on the metro because I could not wait until I was back at the apartment. Every word had me glued to the pages, pulling me deeper and deeper and deeper. The way it reimagines Santa? Pure genius.
It blended fantasy, Christmas vibes, and (spicy) dark romance in such a cool way! I highly, HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who loves their Christmas stories with spice and a dark edge, and who also love the fantasy genre!
I got this book as an arc and I'm totally voluntarily writing this review because I 100% recommend this book!

📖 “Then I can’t wait to open the Christmas present you brought me, Sweet Noel.” _ “You’ll be a good girl because, deep down, you know you were always going to be mine.” 🔥
Holy smokeballs that was a such a fun spicy novella!
Caroline the queen and the South Pole decides to 💀 Saint Nicolas the king of the North Pole due to him 🔥 everything. Being immortal, he is far stronger than Caroline realized and is soon found in a primal game Nick has set for her. If she can elude him for three days she will be set free, if not she will become his queen. May the odds be ever in her favor huh?

sexy, smutty, short. this was a dark fantasy romance with a christmas twist that i didn’t know i needed. the whole hunting/cat and mouse situation? i ate that up. if you’re looking for a quick, smutty read, you’re in for a treat with this one. i will say, i wish nicholas was more of a developed character, and that we got to see more of his pov throughout the book, but all in all, this was a great read!
make sure to read trigger warnings before reading this book!
This was the perfect spicy holiday Novella! The FMC has plans of her own when it comes to Saint Nicholas, and nothing will get in her way. At least that's what she told herself.
If you like spicy holiday romance novellas with themes such as: age gap, good girl, dark romance, enemies to lovers, and more definitely check this out.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
So this was a first kind of thing for me. It's incredibly short so you can't really enjoy any enemies to lovers really It's just one sided hate and lust.
It wasn't bad though. I might not be a dark romance girlie.
So after reading that i can say i had hard time reading. Maybe that's because English is my second language but the style of writing was somehow confusing some times. But as i said, maybe it's a "me problem".
I can say that the story was interesting and the plot twist was good. But at the same time i feel like the characters lacked the real connection and reason for everything they did. Especially in the end scene.
For the spice level. For me that was really light spice things. I was hoping for something more dramatic but i don't mean that in bad way. I have high spice level to tolerate and it's 2 because there was scenes that made me feel something but it was more about words than actions.
Overall i would give that story/book 3.5, because it wasn't bad. I really enjoyed story, word build, plot twist, characters. FMC wasn't blant, MMC was the typical male character but again, not in bad way.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Damn this was such a fun novella!!!! A spicy cat and mouse game between a hot St. Nick and future Mrs Clause….. phew 🥵 yall I need like 100 more pages of this! I did not want this to end - I absolutely ate this UP. I don’t want to give any spoilers but if you’re looking for a quick, steamy read to get you in the Holiday spirit - give this a go and thank me later😈
“Merry fucking Christmas to me”
The goods: ❄️ Enemies to Lovers ❄️ Morally Grey ❄️ “Good Girl” ❄️ Age Gap
As always PLEASE read the triggers for this book as there is a bit of dub-con/somno.
Thank you to Leann and BookSirens for the opportunity to read this ARC! I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
2.5 stars. Caroline is a bit immature for trying to hunt down “her families killer.” But she is strong to fight through what she was going through. I like the magical element it has to it. She marrying him right away was a bit strange. Could have had a bit more smut in my opinion. I felt like something was missing but I’m not sure. The writing style was a bit weird.
This is an ARC review. This novella was a cute story and I really enjoyed it. The characters are on par and the spice was very nice. Not as dark as the Vicious Wonders retellings but it was still a fun adventure.
My relationship with dark romance is very complicated and confused 'cause I dislike a lot of things that are considered romance but in reality is just abuse or violence. But this book?! It's so good. A dark romance with troopers of enemies to lovers and she's try to kill him? I'm in.
"Anyone who harmed you was going to die, but anyone who dared try to manipulate and control you deserves a fate worse than death."
The only thing I hated about this book was the final that was rush. I'm happy that Nicholas have cleared his name but still. I want to know about the wedding. The after. How Caroline coped with that fact.
"I’m a slave to nature, Sweet Noel.” "And you are now, and always have been, the incarnation of nature." "Making me need you. Crave you. Unable to live without you.”
I think I started hate Caroline since the beginning because of her innocence. Don't get me wrong, she's cute and try to revenge her family but the way she tried? Girl, no. Nicholas is a grey moral character who cares only about himself. But still, the chase in the woods? A true gentleman lol. WHEN SHE STAB HIM? I gasped so hard.
It’s okay if I’m not your first. I’ll simply need a list of names, so I can eliminate anyone who thinks they can walk this earth knowing what my future wife looks like when she comes.
Maybe if it was a little longer, was a perfect book for Christmas. The story is good, a little cliché but definitely a must read if you like this genre.
I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and I'm giving an honest opinion.
