This one was a bit better. Still not back to the level that the series started at, but better. Several times, though, I had to ask myself why they didn't choose a smarter, fairly obvious path. To continue the plot, I guess? More intentional miscommunication, which is annoyingly present in every book. And where was the werewolf pack that was supposed to defend Mistfalls? They only mention Quinn in the fights.
I'm glad Taylor actually fought in this one, though the author seems to have drastically diminished her powers. She talks about them constantly, but doesn't really use them. I'm the earlier books, she was so fast that she killed an entire group in moments and left everybody in awe. In the recent books, she's regularly rendered helpless, and in this book she fights, but seems to have the speed and abilities of the next person. It's very underwhelming.
Still can't seem to drop the series, though. Only a few books left, so I keep the hope that they'll return to their former glory, even with the AI narrator. The epilogue was not promising, though. We'll see.

I was given an ARC of this book and I enjoyed this action-packed fantasy.
Evil surrounds Mistfalls and serious battles are encroaching. Taylor and Jesse must find help...as do Isabel and Cal...but, of course, nothing is straightforward.
This was an engaging story filled with mystery and magic, determination and grit. I liked the sense of place and how the characters suited the plot.
In my opinion, the story mirrors today's reality of how those in power divide others so to divert attention and promote fear.
Well-written and entertaining.

Mistfall's battle against the Shadow Council continues in this book, with allies being sought by Mistfall to fight against the council. This has some surprising results. It was quite an exciting read.
This book is better written than other books in the series in that it doesn't contain so many errors. However, there were some grammatical errors and plot holes that should have been caught as part of any decent proofreading.

Divide and conquer!
Ambruse Veil has a new strategy safe has last ready. Mistfalls is strong now, but rumors and disruption will weaken it and tear it apart. They need allies but the Shadow Councils plan is already at work to defeat them.

Taylor & her friends set out to find allies to help with the war against the Shadow Council. Things are really heating up & the survival of Wishfalls is teetering.

Each time a book comes out in this series, I can't wait to read it. This book was action-packed and real to life with and equal mixture of the paranormal. A gripping read.

Tempt was a slight improvement over some of the recent books, though it still didn’t reach the level of the earlier installments.
I was glad to see more action and to see Taylor take a more active role in events again. At the same time, her abilities continue to feel inconsistent. Earlier in the series, she was portrayed as incredibly powerful, but in the later books that strength seems to fluctuate depending on what the plot needs. She talks about her powers often, yet rarely uses them to their full potential, which makes some conflicts feel less impactful than they should.
I also found myself frustrated by how many problems could have been avoided if the characters had made more logical decisions or simply communicated with each other. The miscommunication trope has been present throughout the series, and by book twelve it’s become more exhausting than suspenseful.
Another thing I noticed was how certain characters who once felt important have gradually faded into the background with little explanation. It made the story feel less cohesive than the earlier books.
At this point, it was taking me much longer to finish each book because the story felt so drawn out that I kept losing motivation to pick it back up. The main reason I continued was because I had already invested so much time into the series that I wanted to see it through to the end.
The ending and epilogue left me a little concerned that the series is stuck in a cycle of major conflict, brief resolution, and then immediately jumping into the next crisis. I’m still hoping the final books can pull everything together, but this was another 1-star read for me.
