Even the most perfect home can hide shocking secrets. But on this peaceful street, is one of them dangerous enough to kill for?

Young married couple Heidi and Freddie just moved to Huntington Grove. All the neighbours see they are friendly and polite but why is one door in their house always locked?

Across the street, Willow tries not to argue with her teenage daughter – even as her marriage is falling apart. And where does her husband really go each night, leaving the bed beside her cold?

Feeling lonely, she always waves hello to single dad Dylan next door. His wife died in a tragic murder. The culprit was never found. It’s no surprise there are rumours he was involved…

On a beautiful sunny day, it’s time for the whole street to gather for a summer party. Everyone plasters on a fake smile. But soon the picnic tables will be overturned, sirens will blare – and one of the residents will be marched away in police handcuffs.

Everyone at the party will be questioned. But everyone will lie… And with every household hiding something, who has a secret big enough to kill for?

An absolutely addictive psychological thriller that proves you can never really know what goes on behind closed doors. Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, Shari Lapena and The Perfect Marriage.

This book follows the story of a couple who move into a new house in Huntington Grove, hoping for a fresh start. However, as they settle into the neighborhood, they quickly realize that not everyone is who they seem to be. Beneath the surface of seemingly perfect lives lie secrets and lies that could have a direct impact on them. What are these hidden truths, and are they dangerous enough to shatter their lives? The story dives deep into deception and trust, leaving readers questioning everyone’s motives.

This is the kind of book that will keep you hooked until you uncover what’s really happening, and that’s exactly what it did for me. I couldn’t put it down. The premise of the book was intriguing and had so much potential, but I did feel that some characters lacked depth and seemed to exist just to push the plot forward. That said, the story flowed smoothly, making it an easy read, even if it meant the twists became a bit predictable. It wasn’t something you’d guess immediately, but after a few chapters, it wasn’t too hard to figure out. What I truly appreciated was how engaging the book was, it pulled me out of a reading slump, and for that, I’m grateful.

"Overall, if you're in the mood for a book that will keep you hooked from start to finish, this might just be the one for you." 💌

Happy publication day!
4⭐
Genre ~ domestic drama
Setting ~ UK
Publication date ~ December 5, 2024
Publisher ~ Bookouture
Est Page Count ~ 444 (75 chapters)
Audio length ~ 11 hours 20 minutes
Narrators ~ Matthew Spencer, Rebecca Lee, Julia Barrie
POV ~ multiple 1st, present tense
Featuring ~ secrets, lies, neighborhood drama

Our Huntington Grove narrating neighbors are:
Heidi, Willow & Dylan ~ each having a secret or discovering one.

The pace was steady. The secrets were good ones. IMO there were a couple of unnecessary plot points with the teenage daughter and a mother in law that I don't feel added anything to the story. I guess it's a bit of a dual timeline since we have 'The Future' chapters that slowly bring the intriguing introduction to light even though it only takes place during a week .

Overall, I was entertained throughout. I wasn't really shocked about who the shooter was, but I was happy it was done. Definitely more on the drama side than thriller, which was fine with me. It's one of the better ones I've read from this author.

Narration notes:
Whoop whoop for 3! I was pleased with each of their performances.

Welcome to the Neighborhood......

WOWZA! Home Is Where the Lies Live is a gripping, twisted, secret filled thrill ride of a book! Whew! Kerry Wilkinson delivered once again! Huntington Grove is a picture-perfect neighborhood which is getting ready for its annual block party! Heidi and Freddie have just moved in and are anxious to meet their neighbors. As the party begins, Freddie is recognized by one of his new neighbors, and things take a turn....

Kerry Wilkinson did not save the drama for his mama! He poured it into Home Is Where the Lies Live! There is drama and secrets galore hiding in plain sight on Huntington Grove. The residents on this street each have their own secrets and challenges ranging from grief, being a single parent, marriage issues, growing pains, issues with teen children, a blast from the past, and locked rooms! This book is told through the POV's of several of the characters. This was a very nice touch and helped me get into the minds and to understand their motivations

Home Is Where the Lies Live kept me on my toes and turning the pages! I loved the secrets, the tension, the questioning, the lying, and the shocking reveals. This was the 15th book that I have read by Kerry Wilkinson. I always get excited when I see he has a new book coming out! I can't wait to read what he writes next!

Thrilling, entertaining, shocking, well written, well thought out and dramatic!!!

Thank you to Bookouture, Bookouture audio, and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

You did a bad, bad thing.
So let’s try to figure out the what, why and who…

Freddie and Heidi just moved into a new neighborhood. Boxes aren’t even un-packed and he’s already itching to move again. Now why would that be?

Willow and Gabe are having issues of their own. Gabe with his mysterious evening jaunts. And his teenage daughter Isabella trying to grow in a direction her mother just can’t understand. Sounds typical right? Hmm…in this case maybe not so much.

Alison and Kenneth’s relationship seems to flow better when Kenneth is working overseas. But now he’s back, so what does that mean for them.

Dylan and his daughter Orla. Widowed three years ago when his wife was murdered. He won’t rest until her killer is brought to justice.

Those are your players…Ready? Let the games begin!

Do you enjoy neighborhood thrillers? This may be the crème de la crème when it comes to dysfunctional neighbors!

I was lucky enough to have both the audio and digital copies of this latest release by one of my go to authors - Kerry Wilkinson.
🎧I listened to the first 50%. With multiple narrators bringing life to the neighborhood characters, all doing a fabulous job.
💻The last 50% I switched it up and read the digital copy.

For this reader the digital copy worked best. I was able to immerse myself into the neighborhood and really understand the characters at a deeper level.
I don’t think you can go wrong whichever way you decide to go.

This is a gossipy, soapy drama filled with countless secrets and lies. The story centers around the Huntington Grove neighborhood. Every neighbor is hiding something adding tension to this slow-burn mystery. The narration added a layer of suspense and emotion to this layered domestic drama. The constant sense of foreboding kept me interested and entertained. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my audiobook.

This book is a look into the lives of several people during a week in Huntington Grove. This quiet neighborhood is definitely having a rough time of it, and right before their yearly block party too. The story starts with a recording of an emergency call from the party, then we go back to the beginning of the week to see how everything culminated into chaos. To start, the main characters, who at first I thought were entertaining but one-dimensional, but all became more deep and likable/unlikable as the book went on…

Heidi and Freddie are moving in this week; after living in a small apartment, they have now saved enough money for a house in the suburbs. Why does Freddie keep his new office locked though, and why is he so silent when he finds out he’s now neighbors with someone from his past?

Willow knew Freddie in high school, and now years later, she is living across the street from him with her husband Gabe, and her teenage daughter, Isabella. Why do she and her daughter argue so much, and why is her husband out all hours of the night?

Dylan is a single father to Orla, who is being bullied for being a female football player. Dylan’s wife Celia was murdered a few years prior; why do people still suspect this genteel man was the killer?

Alison is the overbearing party organizer, whose husband Kenneth is away in Hong Kong. They are a childless couple, so why is there always yelling coming from their house?

Everyone on this street has their secrets, and they’re all quite good. This whole book was so entertaining as it led up to the party, but then what happens that day is a total shock. Actually, there are several shocks - I thought for sure I had a couple parts of this book pegged, but I was very surprised by everything that came out in the end. My only complaint was that the ending was abrupt, and a couple of smaller plot points were left dangling, but otherwise, this was great. This is the first book I’ve read by the author, and it won’t be my last. 4.5 stars!

(Thank you to Bookouture, Kerry Wilkinson and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is slated to be released on December 5, 2024.)

I loved this neighborhood suspense/thriller/drama where nothing is at it seems. Everyone has secrets. Some of the secrets are your everyday, normal quirks and some are definitely not.

This one is told from multiple points of view and there are multiple narrators. All of which did a perfect job with speaking their parts.

If you liked Big Little Lies, definitely make sure to read this one, you might just need a piece of paper to keep track of all the characters.

I’ll definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Bookouture Audio for letting me partake in this one a little early, in exchange for an honest review.

Home is Where the Lies Live was a layered story following several people in the neighborhood of Huntington Grove. Everyone seemed to have their secrets and it was hard to know who to trust, or how and even if each storyline was connected.

Heidi and Freddie were an odd couple. I didn't quite get how they paired together and I couldn't warm up to Freddie. He felt shady to me but I could never put my finger on why. Heidi often felt like a doormat and her character frustrated me. Worst was Willow who nagged her daughter relentlessly and the unraveling of her relationship felt pre-ordained. I was most curious about Dylan and his past with his murdered wife. He seemed like a great father and I liked his relationship with his daughter.

Each separate storyline felt so distinct, it was hard to see how the puzzle pieces fit together. I had inklings about things and it was fun seeing some play out and others crash and burn.

I listened to the novel on audio and mostly enjoyed it. I appreciated that multiple narrators were used and that helped distinguish the storylines. The narrator for Willow wasn't my favorite, but that was also likely related to my dislike for the character herself!

This was super entertaining and if you enjoy domestic suspense and neighborhood drama, I very highly recommend! This has been super popular over at The Pulse and it's clear to see why!

💭: This was the first book I read after finishing Onyx Storm & it was underwhelming. It took me forever to get through as well, almost causing a reading slump. I was in the mood for something very niche: neighborhood thriller in England. Sort of like a Lisa Jewell vibe, which this book was described as. It was… fine. Didn’t do much for me. Couldn’t care less about any of the characters; they were all unlikeable. Usually the multiple POVs don’t bother me, but I was getting confused as hell with them in this book. Probably cause it was the same story for every character: a shitty spouse keeping secrets or just being an overall shitbag.

Home Is Where the Lies Live dives into the tangled lives of three residents preparing for a neighborhood street party that goes horribly wrong. The dual timelines - current events and future police interviews - are brilliantly used to reveal secrets piece by piece, pulling the reader deeper into the chaos of this dysfunctional community.

While the suspenseful buildup and complex interconnections kept me hooked, some moments felt like they dragged, leaving me wanting a tighter pace. Still, the mystery was still entertaining to try and figure it out.

A thank you to the author and NetGalley for providing me a copy of the book in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.

This high quality action packed well paced audiobook had me totally engrossed. An event happens at the street party. We don't know what but then there are interwoven stories as rhe characters on the street are introduced. The stories is told from multiple residents pov both male and female. There are sone red herrings in there and it had me listening long into the night desperate for a resolve . Behind close doors there are so nany secrets and things are always what they appear.
The narration was engaging.. I really enjoyed the reveal and could see a sequel or novelle. A lot of the secrets were omg really. This is highly recommended to all mystery lovers. The setting us ordinary but tye characters and their secrets far from. This felt a quick lisyen.

Thanks to Netgally and the publisher for an advanced copy of the audio book in exchange for an honest review!
This story is told mainly from 3 different neighbor'a perspectives: Willow, Heidi, and Dylan. Willow is a wife to Gabe, a mother to teenage Isabella, and has recently started taking college classes. Heidi and her husband, Freddy have just moved into the neighborhood and Heidi is starting to think her husband is hiding something. Dylan is a widow and a father to 7 year old Orla, and he hasn't stopped trying to find the person who murdered his wife 3 years ago. The story goes between the "future" (after the infamous street party), the past (the week prior to the party), and the present (when a detective is talking to witnesses to gather information).
I found this book to be somewhat suspenseful, though I wouldn't exactly call it "unputdownable". There were several twists in the last 10ish% of the book, and though they were good, i wouldn't consider them shocking or something you wouldn't see coming. Overall I thought this book was fine. The narrators did an excellent job, and I really liked hearing the different perspectives in different voices in each chapter.

Heidi and Freddie are settling into their new house, which could be their forever home. However, one thing unsettles Heidi—Freddie keeps one door locked at all times, even though they’re the only ones in the house.

Meanwhile, Heidi is eager to get to know her new neighbors, including Willow and her teenage daughter. When Willow shares a surprising secret about the neighborhood, it piques Heidi’s curiosity. Another neighbor, Dylan, carries a heavy burden—he’s a father to seven-year-old daughter Orla, and speculation abounds about what happened to his wife, Kira.

Anxious at home and after meeting these new neighbors, Heidi begins to question whether they made a wise decision moving to Huntington Grove. It seems like everyone in town is hiding something, even to the point of an arrest that intensifies the mystery. Determined to uncover Freddie’s secrets, Heidi won’t rest until she gets answers.

This captivating domestic suspense story by Kerry Wilkinson is brought to life by three exceptional narrators. From the very first page, my attention was captivated, and I highly recommend this book.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

This was a captivating domestic thriller. I really enjoyed the sketchy neighbors and all of their side stories. It seemed every household had a secret to hide. The flash forwards had me dying to read more to see what happened. The characters in this book were really well written. They actually felt like real people with real feelings and thoughts. The petty thoughts the characters would randomly have made the book seem very realistic. This book was heading toward a 4-5 star but the ending feels so unresolved. We had a couple little twists and learned a couple of secrets but barely. We didn’t get the full look at what’s behind the closed doors and have no idea the endings for our characters. Overall a good read.

Review for 'Home Is Where The Lies Live' by Kerry Wilkinson.

Well, well, well Wow!!! What another absolute cracker of a book by an extremely talented author!!! This book sucked me straight in from beginning to the explosive ending. It was very well written with excellent descriptions which put me straight into the storyline. The synopsis and the cover suited the book perfectly.

This is yet another absolutely fantastic page turner by the extremely talented Kerry. Kerry's evocative writing skills really brings the story to life ensuring you can see everything around you and feel everything that Heidi, Willow and Dylan are feeling, seeing and hearing. The storyline is addictive and filled with suspense, family, tension, secrets, mystery, drama and everything you could ask for in a fantastic page turner!! I loved all the twists and turns and throughout it kept me constantly on edge trying to guess what was going to happen next and although I hate to admit I was wrong, I was wrong each and every time, but keep that to yourselves please!! So, a MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS Kerry for managing to prove me wrong time and time again!!! I would NEVER have seen that ending coming fair play! I have read many thrillers and it's getting harder and harder for me to be surprised so great job there. As always with Kerry's fantastic books this book was gripping, easy to read and fast paced. If you have never read any of Kerry's books then grab your copy of this page turner today and I promise you will not regret it!! I loved the storyline and just loved everything about it. As always Kerry does a superb job of not only weaving together multiple protagonist perspectives together perfectly but also multiple timelines seamlessly ensuring the reader sees the bigger picture of what is going on without causing any confusion but also without Kerry giving anything away until he is absolutely ready to! It was all done perfectly!! An absolutely addictive page turner that kept my heart in my throat on the edge of the seat and absolutely absorbed me. The fact there were so many different red herrings and so many possibilities that all would have worked perfectly I could not put this book down!!! I was so invested in the storyline that I was up until 2am!! I would LOVE to see this turned into a movie!!!

This is one of the few books that I have listened 100% on Audiobook. If I listen to a book on audiobook I usually also read the physical book between but I listened to the whole book and I was impressed! I must say a HUGE congratulations to the narrators Julia Barrie, Rebecca Lee and Matthew Spencer who all did an amazing job bringing this story to life. I would listen to it in the car and while walking at any opportunity and they all did an absolutely brilliant job of managing to convey and portray the characters emotions through their voices!!!

WARNING ⚠ DO NOT START THIS UNTIL YOU HAVE CLEARED YOUR SCHEDULES AS THIS BOOK IS ADDICTIVE!!!!

THE characters were fantastic, solid and completely believable and I absolutely loved seeing them all come to life and hearing their stories. The main protagonists are Heidi, Willow and Dylan and Kerry manages to completely bring them to life so it feels lie each of them are telling you their story while you are standing right next to them throughout. Each of his characters have their own individual flaws, quirks, strengths and weaknesses and the majority of them seem to be hiding their secrets. You have no idea who is hiding what or who to believe at times so you are constantly trying to guess and work it out. I enjoyed getting to know all the characters although I must admit I wasn't a fan of them all!! As always with Kerry he has created realistic, strong and in depth characters that leap out of the pages at the reader ensuring they feel and see everything they are seeing and feeling. There was a great eclectic mix of characters which always helps to liven the storyline up. They all had such different and strong personalities and all suited the storyline perfectly.. There were such a mix of personalities and its hard really to say too much about any of them without giving too much away!!! Regardless of whether you liked, loved or disliked any of the characters they all work perfectly together to bring this story to life. I cannot wait to meet the next characters that this author creates for his next books. A great cast of characters that come to life thanks to Kerry's extremely evocative writing talent along with Julia, Rebecca and Matthew's incredible narratives!!

CONGRATULATIONS KERRY ON YET ANOTHER ABSOLUTELY ADDICTIVE PAGE TURNER!!!! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY YOU ARE ONE OF MY TOP 5 MALE AUTHORS!!! HERE'S TO YOUR NEXT SUCCESS 🥂

Overall a compelling, addictive, action packed and fantastic page turner!!

Home Is Where The Lies Live by Carrie Wilkinson, when the book starts, we meet Heidi her and husband Freddie have just moved into the neighborhood and while she had spent the last week packing, he was at the new home and she is totally taken a back when he tells her he’s decided to have a home office and will keep the door locked. what’s more intriguing than the lock door and on top of how Freddie reacted when confronted with their neighbor and fellow classmate of his and his strange reaction to it. unfortunately, across the street, classmate and neighbor Willow is having problems of her own. Her husband sneaks out her daughter acts like she hates her and she still fighting with her daughter’s father after being divorced for years.
Next-door to Willow lives Dylan with the seven-year-old daughter Orla, who he would do anything to protect. He spent his night sitting in the living room, holding a gun and his days while Orla is at an activity at the local courthouse, hoping to see the man that murdered his wife. In the interim in between all these POV‘s police officer is interviewing different eyewitnesses and character witnesses to find out what happened at the block party they had in this neighborhood where someone was shot. by the end of the book, all of these neighbors will have their life changed forever some for better and some will be devastated and some will just have new neighbors. I love Carrie Wilkinson‘s books, and I did enjoy this one, but this was more women’s fiction and drama as opposed to a thriller. I also wish I would’ve read the Kindle version as opposed to the audiobook all the narrators to the great job, I don’t like when they have multiple narrators that make the same character sound different with each performers narrative. also, I thought the guy doing Dylan‘s voice almost made him too serious and it didn’t jive with the love. He showed his seven-year-old daughter, but that’s not to say he doesn’t have a great voice and also sounded quite hot, but I didn’t get the lovable Daddy vibe from him. also, Gabe got on my nerves with his “I know you are but what am I” attitude? I mean, what a baby. He said that there’s much more to this book than what I put in this review and I think most people will enjoy this book especially if you love women’s fiction, if you love multiple cast, then try the audiobook. All the performers were good and some were even great. #NetGalley, #BookouchureAudio, #CarrieWilkinson, #HomeIsWhereTheLiesLive,

Man, what an effed up neighborhood! I would absolutely hate to live here.

The way all the pieces fit together in the end was masterful. The 'now' and 'future' timelines where the future was police interviews was so perfect for this story. Slowly giving the reader little nuggets of information that we're not sure where to file them and slowly having the picture come into focus was great.

I loved how we got to slowly know all the players and and their relationships with everyone else in the neighborhood. My heart broke for some and my blood boiled for others. I wouldn't classify this as a thriller, but it was for sure suspenseful.

Matthew Spencer, Rebecca Lee, and Julia Barrie did an amazing job narrating this. They brought all the neighbors to life and really breathed life into the story.

Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ALC.

My first book by Kerry Wilkinson and a very enjoyable read about how appearances can be deceiving and how you never can tell what goes on behind closed doors.

Heidi is excited to move into Huntington Grove with her husband Freddie, leaving their tiny flat behind for a lovely house with a garden. When she arrives on the street, her and Freddie are given a warm welcome, but all is not what it seems in Huntington Grove. There is Willow and her troubled marriage to Gabe, plus Willow’s irritable and moody 17 year old daughter, Isabella, from her previous marriage. Single dad Dylan is parenting his 7 year old daughter alone after losing his wife in a tragedy a few years earlier and then there is, full of herself self-appointed “queen of the street”, Alison, whose husband is rarely seen as he works in Hong Kong most of the time. Every person on the street seems to have secrets that they want to stay hidden, but everyone knows secrets have a habit of coming out, no matter how hard someone tries to hide them. Just over a week after Heidi and Freddie move into the street Alison organises a street party in honour of High Kingsley’s 1,400th birthday but it goes tragically wrong and the beautiful fairy lights adorning the street are suddenly overwhelmed by the flashing blue lights of emergency service vehicles. It’s at this point that all the neighbours’ secrets and lies start spilling out into the open and everyone starts to get a new perspective on their neighbours. Will life in Huntington Grove ever be the same again after such an explosive street party?!

Well, this story was littered with a good few very unlikeable characters, one of which I had strong feelings about from the very first few chapters and this didn’t change as the story went on. I was initially worried about the timeline jumping around from the present to the future, but this worry was unfounded as I didn’t find it a problem at all. My heart really hurt for Dylan and Orla, and I could definitely understand the root of some of Dylan’s actions. I think most people would want to try and get justice for the person they loved. I adored Beth and thought she was just what Dylan and Orla needed in their lives, and I was rooting for them all the way through the book. I really enjoyed the police statement chapters and thought they were a nice touch adding to the overall story. By the end of the book, I was having trouble deciding who was the worst character after all the secrets and lies had eventually come out, but I found the ending really wrapped things up quite nicely.

Overall, a good psychological thriller with some interesting twists that I didn’t see coming. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone who enjoys the psychological thriller genre.

Thank you to NetGalley, Kerry Wilkinson and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.

Happy publication day 🥳🥳

This was an exciting and entertaining psychological thriller, set over the span of one week and told from multiple pov. The title opens with a 999 call and we know immediately that there has been an incident on Huntington Grove.

The rest of the story sets out the days leading up to the incident with Heidi and Freddie just moving into Huntington Grove, Dylan raising his daughter alone on the grove in the wake of his wife’s death. Willow and Gabes home where tensions run high with Willow’s daughter Issy and it seems there’s always an argument in the air. Then there’s efficient Alison whose husband is working overseas. Each of the characters are hiding something. Some of their lives are more intertwined than the neighbours realise and it’s all about to come to a head at a street party.

I enjoyed the story a lot, it could’ve probably benefited from being a little shorter, but the multiple characters were easy to follow, it was engaging and there was a definite sting in the tail of a twist.

The audio by all three narrators was great - my apologies I’m unable to credit all three here, it seems only one is named.

My thanks to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for this ELC.

I have so many questions, starting with: Why did I bother? The ending was so abrupt, I thought my Kindle glitched. Nope—turns out the author just peaced out mid-thought. And if I had to read the word inaudible one more time, I might’ve screamed (ironically, not inaudibly). I should’ve trusted my instincts and DNF’d it. Lesson learned.

home truly is where the lies live. this was a perfectly enjoyable mystery thriller and i enjoyed the beginning a lot because the intrigue and mysteries were perfectly set up to the point where it has you feeling like you absolutely need to find out what’s going on asap. i would say this had a medium pace and i enjoyed the different povs but at the same the pov switches were quite fast and you did not spend time with one pov for too long enough for the developments to sink in. i would say that was my only main problem with this book since it made it a bit difficult to keep up with all the characters.

the mysteries themselves were interesting because the developments have you feeling like you know where the story or the twists are headed but there were quite a few surprises i did enjoy. overall, if you’re in the mood for a good domestic thriller that keeps you listening or reading, this is for you.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with the audiobook arc in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 🌟 rounded up

Heidi and Freddie have moved into Huntington Grove, it’s the week before the organised street party but whilst moving in and getting to know the neighbours Freddie is already getting cold feet about the move.

The story kicks off with a 999 call reporting a shooting then throwing us back a week to the lead up to the party. There are also police interviews as chapters too giving us more insight on who may have been shot and who may have been the shooter.

This is a great suspense thriller which keeps you wandering just who could be the victim and who is the shooter. We have the POV of Heidi and also Dylan and Willow who also live on the grove. There are some questionable characters , hidden secrets and lots going on behind the closed doors of the neighbourhood.

Many thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author for my eARC.

As the neighbors prepare the street party, violence and murder await them all

✨ Read if you enjoy: neighborhood dramas, secrets
✨ Don’t read if you loathe: multiple POVs, domestic dramas

This book was right up my alley hehe - I loved this British neighborhood and all their dramas and secrets

The strength of the book was in the depth of the characters personalities; Heidi, Willow and Dylan. The audiobook narrators were cast very well and I encourage a listen, as it adds an extra layer to the story

The three neighbors have their own mini mystery to solve and I was equally entertained by all

As well as the three POVs, police interviews take place in the future, hinting at a incident due to occur at the neighborhood street party

I enjoyed the reveals and twists, but I would have loved more of a showdown, especially with Dylan’s storyline

I found a couple of the stories to be a bit too unbelievable but overall, this was a highly entertaining, domestic thriller

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for access to this audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest review

Kerry Wilkinson is a new-to-me author, and I have added some of his other books to my book wish list after reading this one. Home is Where The Lies Live is a cleverly constructed domestic thriller that delves into the dark underbelly of suburban life. The audiobook experience is enhanced by superb narration, which brings the tense atmosphere and multi-layered characters to life.
From the start, Wilkinson sets a tone of quiet unease. Huntington Grove appears idyllic, but secrets fester behind every locked door and cheerful greeting. The alternating perspectives of Heidi, Willow, and Dylan add layers of intrigue, giving listeners insight into the private lives and guarded thoughts of these neighbours. The story’s pacing is measured but never slow, with each chapter peeling back a new layer of deceit.
The premise—a seemingly perfect neighbourhood unravelling at a summer party—might sound familiar, but Wilkinson’s execution is fresh and engaging. The locked door in Heidi and Freddie’s house immediately sparks curiosity, setting off a chain of questions that only deepen as the story progresses. Willow’s strained family dynamics and Dylan’s tragic backstory add emotional weight, while the ever-present gossip and judgment among neighbours create a relatable, if unsettling, backdrop.
The climax at the summer party adds brilliant suspense, with secrets spilling out and alliances crumbling. The twisty conclusion, while surprising, feels earned, tying together the various story threads in a satisfying way. While the audiobook is gripping, some listeners might find the buildup slower than expected. However, the deliberate pacing allows for rich character development, making the eventual reveal all the more impactful.
Home is Where The Lies Live is a compelling audiobook that thrives on its intricate character dynamics and chilling suburban setting. If you’re a fan of neighbourhood thrillers with dark secrets, this one will keep you hooked until the very end.

Kerry Wilkinson’s 'Home Is Where the Lies Live' has an exciting and unforgettable ending that brings all the story’s hidden secrets together making this a solid four star read!

The once-perfect neighborhood starts falling apart, and a big party scene reveals shocking truths about the characters’ pasts and their messy relationships. When a key character gets arrested at the party, it’s completely surprising and makes the reader question everyone’s actions.

As things heat up, the main character faces a huge betrayal and finally discovers the lies that have been bubbling under the surface. The tension keeps building as the story switches between different characters, showing the dark reasons behind everything that’s happened. Wilkinson does an amazing job of mixing fast-paced action with deep emotions, making the ending both thrilling and meaningful which solidifies him on my list of authors I enjoy! I've read one of his other books and can't wait to check out more.

This book is available now so I definitely recommend checking it out immediately!

Thank you to NetGalley, Kerry Wilkinson, and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

3.5⭐️ rounded up.

I had trouble rating this one. On one hand I enjoyed listening to 90% of this book. It was layered and smartly written. I more place it as a drama with a little bit of thriller thrown in. I enjoyed the British setting but that is a particular interest of mine.

The story surrounds an incident at a Street party (block party for Americans) where a shooting takes place and then multiple points of view with the week preceding it for the most part. Many secrets and lies are divulged along the way.

I listened to the audio ALC and The narrators did a great job. This was a mutual cast audio which helped keep some of the many characters straight. I listened to most of it at 1.5x and it was perfect.

Now the 10% i didn’t enjoy or maybe it was only 5% but basically it was the ending where the culprit is revealed. It seemed out of nowhere. I’ve read a few books like this of late were the “twist” had nothing underneath it. A good twist is where the reader gets shocked but then all the support facts fall into place. But when the support facts just aren’t there it fails.

But overall it was an enjoyable read.
I am thankful to have gotten the audio ALC for free from Netgalley and Bookouture Audio to enjoy which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.

My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars and I rarely round up.

⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again
