Why is a brilliant, powerful, and dangerous Witch willing to help a hesitant boy Prince, who doesn’t even want to become king?
Is her coven there to help the Prince as heir to the throne or use him for its own purposes? What will it cost the Prince to benefit from this Witch’s formidable skills? And does it matter if the boy Prince falls in love with the Witch?
In this sometimes dark and twisted tale, the Witch uses her powers, and of course, the Discipline, to defend the Prince, but not how his kingdom or her Witches’ coven expects. And she’s all too aware that great leaders can collect many enemies!
I enjoy reading and researching just about anything, but I love to write Teen and Young Adult Fantasy Fiction. Wicca and Witchcraft, and putting a different take on them, are some of my favorite things to write.
I live on the edge of the Rocky Mountains and love the outdoors. Also, I’ve been a researcher, writer, and traveler for most of my career.
I tap into my life experiences—the good, the bad, and the ugly—to give the novels a sense of realism while still taking you on a Fantasy Journey! I hope you enjoy the world I’ve created, including a naughty sense of humor!
If you are looking for a book to enjoy, this is a great one. It is a fascinating story that combines leadership, support, and relationships. You will be supporting Alexandra and Adrian in their journey, seeing all the challenges that they have to overcome and how being in a royal family is harder than it seems. I like how the author developed the characters, all the details, and their personalities; it feels like you get to know these people. I like the plot twist that, in this case, is a woman protecting a man. I like the empowerment that this book brings to women; it is not necessary to be in a main role like Adrian as a royal member, but the protection and support that she gives is just fascinating how it is developed through the book, showing the importance of the women's role. Even though it is a fantasy book, it allows you as a reader to think about your relationships, your leadership, and who is your Alexandra, or for whom you can be an Alexandra, being present and supportive.
Fighting danger with magic and intelligence – Entertaining and inspiring
Author TD Nikolas steps onto the stage of teen and young adult epic fantasies with this impressive novel. The plot is well suggested in even the opening lines: ‘As Prince Adrian vacantly stared out the windows of his rooms from the comfort of his bed, he pulled up the bed coverings to just below his nose. The chill that he felt was not from the crisp morning air, but from the impending Bonding Ceremony – a ritual that would change the course of his life forever. The person who would bring about these changes, and guide him for the rest of his life was to be a determined and iron-willed Witch [Alexandra].’ Throughout this well written story the themes of humor, magic, commitment and survival shape a successful initial episode of what promises to be a fascinating series. This is an author of note to watch! Recommended – especially for teens!
I wanted to define this book with the word "transformation" because it encapsulates both the development of the characters and the changes they must go through as they navigate a world full of magic, responsibilities, and many challenges.
This work is a mix of magic, fantasy, and even realism, with a detailed and descriptive narrative style that allows the reader to immerse themselves in the story's fantastic world.
What I really liked about this story is that it teaches us that we must learn to accept change and take responsibility for our lives. It emphasizes the importance of persevering in the pursuit of our well-being by facing our fears and doubts, all in order to achieve success.
The book's premise of a powerful witch that is unexpectedly bonded to a young prince is immediately intriguing. I liked the dynamic that's set up; the determined Alexandra having to guide this thirteen-year-old who's clearly not thrilled about his royal destiny is something really entertaining. The mentor-protégé relationship was something unique, and the layer of magic and political intrigue kept me hooked throughout the book. The "chaos" of a young king, puberty, and untrustworthy characters made me keep reading to know more of what was going to happen. This book is a good mix of action, character development, and humor. The themes of power and responsibility are what makes this book stand out, and how these topics make unexpected twists in the story will make you love it.
A book full of adventure and determination. I love the relevance of the figure of Alexandra to ultimately impact the fate of an entire kingdom through her heir. For me, the book is a clear example of how kingdoms depended not only on their king but also on those who were behind him advising and guiding his decisions. The relationship between Alexandra and Adrian is fantastic as it goes through many stages and challenges; Adrian right or wrong is a character with many complexities marked by his experiences and family ties. The determination of this admirable and stubborn witch is what inspires the reader every second to keep reading and expectant of what is to come. The plot is very captivating and the author's narrative makes each scenario flow so well. I loved it.
I was completely involved with Alexandra's character, her temper, the way she expresses herself (clearly thanks to the author), her intriguing pauses but above all her constancy and obstinacy make me as a woman feel inspired and very attracted to her way of relating. We find ourselves facing a story that, at first, might seem typical, regarding an heir who must learn to manage his emotions and his future towards being brilliant. I loved the unfolding of each character and the strength of how each one assumes his role, his past but also his expectations. It has been a long time since a character had such a strong impact on me.
If you are looking for an exciting story, you should pick this one. ''The Determined Witch and Reluctant Prince'' will take you to a universe where kings and magic are present. Here you will meet Alexandra, a brave, intelligent, and kind witch whose most important job in the Kingdom of Constance is to train and protect the future king, Prince Adrian. What Alexandra thought would be just a job turned into an odyssey to protect the prince's life. I have to say this novel was fantastic; with a fast paced rhythm, it keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. The storytelling and the plot are interesting.
The Determined Witch and Reluctant Prince by T.D. Nikolas is a delightful and unexpectedly deep fantasy tale that blends magic, loyalty, and growing up in a world full of danger and expectations. This book may be set in a fantastical world, but the emotions are raw and real. Themes of trust, belonging, and inner strength run deep here.
