Rate this book
The Classic Graphic Novel Collection is a revolutionary new series of graphic novels which re-tells classic literature for learners of English. Graded at the intermediate level, the fresh blend of accessible storytelling and captivating artwork ensures that students will want to return to these stories time and again. Frankenstein is set during a time when there were many new scientific discoveries and anything seemed possible - even the creation of life itself. Victor Frankenstein becomes obsessed with this idea and works hard to prove his theories. But his dream quickly turns into a nightmare - not just for him, but for his family and friends, too. Frankenstein, conceived by Mary Shelley on a rainy night in the mountains of Switzerland in 1816, asks questions about the danger and responsibility of knowledge and the notion that pride must have its fall. Shelley's classic horror story is brought to life through fantastic gothic illustrations and is adapted so that all students can enjoy this haunting tale.

This book was amazing! I had so much fun reading this. Everything was amazing from the characters to the setting. It was really easy to read and I could comprehend everything that happened through out. The plot was really easy to follow and it was fun to see the characters develop through the story.

The two characters in this book were the best. They had a bit love, hate relationship. First Doctor Frankenstein, he is a doctor who creates this monster. After he creates the monster he is filled with regret because he believes that it is just a monster. Frankenstein tries to forget the monster and leave it in his past but the monster keeps showing up and finding him. He can not run anymore and he decides to face his fears and confront the monster. Now Frankenstein’s Monster is sad and all he wants is to be is loved. He can’t find that love in anyone because they are all afraid of him. He becomes in raged and goes on a rampage trying to make people feel how he feels. The one person he does this to the most is Doctor Frankenstein. The monster is trying to make Frankenstein’s life horrible because his life is horrible.

When Frankenstein confronts his monster. The monster tells him that all he wants is love and he wants to have someone just like him to love. I think this is the theme of the book, that everyone is just looking to be loved or to love. The problem is that Frankenstein’s Monster can not find anyone who would love him. The monster wants Frankenstein to make someone just like him for him to love.

Title: Frankenstein - The Graphic Novel
Series: -
Author: Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley / Brigit Viney
Rating: 3.5 stars

My first ever graphic novel.
While I liked that it was a quick read, I much prefer proper novels, for the greater depth of writing it provides. This graphic novel has certainly given me a taste of the classic story of Frankenstein and it’s one I will definitely be reading in the future.
