Sacred Heart Children's Hospital #1

The Nurse and the Neonatal Surgeon

Rate this book
“When I transferred to the charity hospital in Uganda, I was pregnant with his secret baby. Now I’m back, and I’m bringing our fourteen-month-old love child with me.”

I have to tell him, but I can’t. It’s not that simple.

Dr Hartcliffe, the world-renowned neonatal silver-fox surgeon at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, is engaged to a superstar plastic surgeon now. The last thing he’s expecting when I return from secondment is that I’ll be bringing our secret love-child along with me.

It was just a fling; a difficult shift, a rainy day, forced proximity... and sparks flew. My big, brash, no-nonsense northerner surgeon claimed me for one night only before I left for my placement in Uganda.

Our workplace reunion could jeopardise his engagement and his burgeoning career in the states; and besides, he said he never wanted children. I can’t possibly tell him now.

But how can I keep up this secret when we’re working side-by-side again, and our old flame might just be reigniting?

Get ready for some big, grumpy, doctor-daddy drama in this London-based secret baby romance. Second chances, forbidden love, and a secret love child against a backdrop of neonates in critical care.
Max Hartcliffe saves the lives of premature babies every day – but can he be the hero when he finds out he has a baby of his own?

I give it 3.5 stars because it was a decent read. I did laugh at some of the British terms. I had no idea what some of them meant, but they still made me giggle. H was a hilarious guy.

There is some OW drama in this book. When h is out of the country, H hooks up with an American doctor and gets engaged to her. He has big plans to move to America and become a plastic surgeon. From H's POV, it does mention that he has sex with her. Once h comes back, he decides to break up with OW by Facetime. She does show up later on in the book offering him a job in America.

h hid the fact she was pregnant. She was 20 weeks along and found out when she was out of the country on assignment (she's a nurse) She didn't call and tell him. When she came back 2 years later, she still didn't tell him. Her whole reasoning- because he told her once he didn't really like kids.
He is supposed to be some brilliant surgeon but it takes him a minute to finally put the pieces together.

If you are looking for a solid, grumpy doctor/sunshine nurse, age gap, who's the daddy sure thing HEA, then look no further! Sweet, easy to read, laughter, tears, and just the right amount of spice.

Max and Nina - and baby Maxina makes three. When unexpected morning wood leads to an unexpected surprise 9 months later, will Max change his mind about wanting babies? Will he forgive Nina for keeping his daughter from him? Or will their family in the making explode before it even gets started?.

Wow! I had never read anything by Liza Collins before. After reading this incredible book I am on the hunt to find all of her books.

I could not stop reading this. Her characters were amazing and developed so well.
I cannot wait for number 2 in this series to come out. I am buying both so I can visit Nina & and Max again.

To be honest when I saw the title I was a bit worried . But the author managed to avoid falling into the cliché trap !
The MFC is strong and the MMC though clueless mostvof the time was endearing.
All in all a great book.
