Can Mae reclaim her sense of safety and forge a new future without losing the love blooming between her and Pierce? Or will the weight of her past—and her heart—pull her under?
Adorably exciting debut novel! I absolutely loved the characters. Lily is the best sister, and I love the lifelong crush from Pierce. The setting was close to home and I liked finding connections. Can’t wait to read more Leigh Jack!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 shining stars for this debut author! Are romance thrillers my thing now?!?
I was up so late last night for this page turner! Romance isn’t my favorite genre, however throw in some mystery/thriller subplot and I’m all in! I kept forgetting this was a debut. Leigh Jack knows how to create a great storyline. Some parts cozy, some parts nerve wracking (and don’t get me started on that epilogue twist) Leigh Jack has it all in her debut. Now I can’t wait for the second book!
I met this author at a book signing and I love her energy, her goodies (stickers and bookmarks) and I was looking forward to reading this book. It wasn’t for me but I wish this author all the best!
This book was such a sweet and emotional read! I absolutely loved the childhood friends-to-lovers vibe, especially with the "it’s always been you" kind of love—ugh, so good. Mae and Pierce had such a deep connection, and watching their friendship turn into something more was everything.
There’s also a bit of mystery and suspense, which kept things interesting, but the heart of the story was definitely Mae’s journey—her struggles, her strength, and the way Pierce was always there for her. Their chemistry was chef’s kiss and had me rooting for them the whole time.
If you’re into best friends falling in love, a little bit of angst, and a lot of heart, Shared Hearts is definitely worth checking out! 💕
Shared Hearts by Leigh Jack is a unique romance novel with a thrilling twist that ramps up the tension and keeps the pages turning. Mae and Pierce’s dynamic is a definite highlight; their chemistry is palpable and their banter adds warmth to an otherwise intense situation. Mae’s sister Lily also shines as a lovable, supportive character, contributing to the novel’s strong family themes. While the book’s premise is excellent, there are a couple of hiccups in execution. The time jumps can be confusing, making the timeline feel a bit disjointed. There’s also a repeated item on one of the lists where another item belonged. The quick reconciliation between Mae, Lily, and their mom felt rushed, leaving that family arc underexplored. Despite these minor issues, the story’s twisted ending really delivers, leaving me eager to dive into the next book. If you’re looking for a romance novel that isn’t afraid to venture into darker territory, Shared Hearts is well worth a read.
What did I just read! I did not see that coming. In this book, we get to watch Mae as she navigates a series of awful events. She shows how resilient she is while trying to maintain who she is. Her best friend is by her side and tries to help her in any way possible. Just when you think you have it figured it Leigh shows you that you in fact have no idea!
Leigh Jack nailed it with this book! Colleen Hoover meets Freida McFadden. If you enjoy books with mystery, romance, humor and suspense….this one is for you! I highly recommend this new, up and coming author! Cant’t wait for the next book!
This book was so fun and thrilling to read. I'm going to start off by saying that I absolutely love the representation in Mae (and the fact she uses it to take Jace down!) Mae is an absolute queen and knows how to handle herself. I love that she's not portrayed as weak or always needing help from someone just because of her medical condition. It's inspiring really. She felt so real. The details from the beginning of the book were so effortlessly connected to the end. I really enjoyed the characters (not Brian) and the cliff hanger was *gasp* WHAT! | can't wait to read "Chasing Hearts" now. I HAVE to know what happens next! I adored the family and friend dynamics going on as well. Pierce and Mae being childhood friends to maybe something more, Pierce and Lily getting on really well, of course Pierce and his friend Jimmy were an awesome duo, Lily and Mae's sisterhood through all the bad times was a really nice touch. As someone with a sister who is sometimes hard to connect with, it was refreshing to see such tight-knit bonds throughout the characters. I also liked that the author gave their mom a redemption. I don't see that very often.I know at the beginning of the book, I was questioning if the mom was going to come back. I like that she got help and became a better person, wanted to reconnect AND found an amazing man for herself (Love you Joe!). Overall, the plot, the characters, and the scenes were all beautifully written. I had an easy time imagining everything in my head and everything felt believable. While I did guess some parts, I still had a blast trying to figure out who it was and how they were connected

Mae and her twin sister Lilly had a rough time with an absentee father and a mother struggling with addiction. She finds comfort in her sister and her childhood friend, Pierce. Together, they can tackle anything, including the myserious and cryptic messages, that someone is sending Mae. Pierce will do anything he can to protect Mae and, in the process, help her to realize they can be more than friends.
Thoughts 💭 This is such a strong debut! This story had a little bit of everything in it. Mae and her sister have such a strong bond built over childhood struggles. Pierce is patient and encouraging and might be the perfect book boyfriend. He's protective of Mae and tries to slowly show her how good they can be together. This is a closed door romance, but there's plenty of tension and romantic moments. There's an interesting mystery that drives the plot along. I was pretty sure I knew who the cuplrit was, but even I was mistaken! I enjoyed the teacher, police, and type one diabetes representation, especially as a teacher married to a police officer! You don't often read a lot of stories about type one diabetes and I think this was great to include. I know this is part of a series, and I can't wait to check out book two!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I don't even know where to begin. It has been a while since I read a mystery, thriller, romance novel! This was the perfect book to dive back into that genre trope. Mae has the worst diet ever of a diabetic, which totally matches my dad's diet as a diabetic lol. I loved knowing from practically page 2 that Pierce was in love with Mae. This friends to lovers atmosphere was the perfect read. The suspense kept me locked in and I read this book in 2 days. Lily's dating life had me in hysterics and I was literally yelling at the characters as I continued to read acting like they could hear my warnings! This was such a good book. The cliff hanger at the end just pulled me in to wanting to read book 2. Thankully it is already out!
Took me a while to get into, I really wanted to like it more honestly. I feel like every moment that added to a build up was very short & I think more could have been done with all the twists with the 2 main characters, especially when Jace takes Mae, that was very short & not worth the wait for the end of the book. I was expecting a good ending/finale but it fell short. I also didn’t really like the chemistry between Mae & Pierce throughout the book, the fact that they were having relations then Mae wasn’t for it then she was, just not my cup of tea I suppose. There were also typos I spotted throughout the book which most times confused me. Overall, I think more could have been written to piece everything that happened in the story better together.

Shared Hearts is a captivating story with mystery, romance, and a journey of self-discovery. Mae, a resilient protagonist, faces the challenges of type one diabetes, a demanding teaching position, and a complicated family past. The sudden and mysterious break-in at her home thrusts Mae into a whirlwind of uncertainty, forcing her to seek sanctuary with her best friend, Pierce.
You won't be able to put Shared Hearts down. It shows how powerful love is, how resilient people are, and how facing the past helps build a better future. Be prepared for an epilogue that will leave you wanting more. I'm so excited to read the next one!!
Shared Hearts is a sweet romantic thriller that reads like a big bowl of chocolate ice cream, with sprinkles of suspense 🍨
I want to start by saying the diabetic rep was fantastic in this book! Mae’s health was normalized into the story in such a realistic and thoughtful way which felt really natural and important at the same time.
I also adored the entire cast of characters—this story is full of loveable characters, sweet treats, mystery and intrigue, and wild twists!!!
I loved Shared Hearts and I truly can’t wait for Chasing Hearts 💕
Must read if you like: 💝 Cozy Romance 🍦 Ice cream ❤️🔥 Friends to Lovers 🔍 Mystery 💘 He Falls First 👩❤️👨 Dual POV 🫂 Found Family 💉 Diabetic Rep
If you need a feel-good book with some mystery, this book is for you!
It kept me on my toes and honestly Pierce and Mae are adorable. Lifelong best friends and he’s secretly in love with her? Yes, please.
I loved that Mae embraces her Type 1 diabetes, but Pierce is always there to protect her just in case. The person stalking Mae continued to be a mystery for me right up until the end, which I loved. I would go back and forth on who I thought it was continuously.
As a debut novel for author Leigh Jack, she did a great job making it relatable and relevant. I can’t wait to read the second book and see Lily’s story unfold on the pages. Keep writing Leigh! 💕

Ok, this book was freaking cute! I kind of knew or at least hoped I knew what was going to happen to the love interests throughout the whole book BUT I had no idea who was behind the shady stuff. So, you see I said this book is adorable… the spice is minimal, but it did not take away from this book. This book made me want a Pierce in my life so badly (even though I love my husband dearly).
The epilogue made my jaw dropped, I am not sure I am ready for book 2!!!
I listened to the audio and I felt like I was watching a show. This book brings you in from the very beginning and makes you not want to put it down.
It’s a Romance/Thriller
This story is about close friendships and how far would you go to protect the ones you love.
Mae is very close with her sister Lily. Pierce has had strong feelings for Mae ever since they were children. Pierce became a police officer and helps investigate the stalker that Mae has. And, never lets Mae be alone, because they are both worried what would happen to her if the slip up and aren’t near her.
Shared Hearts is a romantic thriller with characters that feel real and jump off the page with authenticity.
However - for me - it loses a star because it has too many plot threads, and the narrative feels a little "scattershot." Overall, it could be more organized and focused.
However, if you enjoy the "friends-to-lovers" troupe and having a little family drama in your romance, you'll definitely enjoy reading this.
Even though Romance is not my favorite genre, I really enjoyed this book. The characters are interestring and believable, and by the time I reached the last page I felt I knew them well. The suspense and action kept me guessing and glued to the page until the end. This is my first book by this author, but certainly won’t be the last. I’m looking forward to reading the next books of the series and definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy a suspenseful romance!
Friends-to-lovers is one of my absolute favorite tropes, so I was hyped to dive into this book! A romance and a mystery/thriller? Yes, please! Mae (our FMC) is super relatable and so easy to root for, and then there’s Pierce! the perfect match.
Just when you’re caught up in the romance, the thriller side kicks in, keeping you guessing the whole way through. The way the author weaves everything together? So smooth. This was such a fun read, and an easy 5 stars from me! Loved every bit of it!!!
I absolutely devoured this book in one day! It pulled me in from the very beginning. If you want a book that keeps you interested with each page, this is it.
Mae has a wonderful relationship with the sister Lily, one that everyone wishes they had with siblings. She also has the best friend anyone could ask for, Pierce. Pierce is quick to step in when Mae is being threatened.
I found Leigh Jack one day just mindlessly scrolling TikTok and I’m so happy our paths crossed! I ordered this book that day!
I just finished and ugh that cliffhanger! I absolutely loved the characters. Mae and Pierce are so lovable! I loved all the side plots going on and the mystery….yes! It had me questioning everyone!
Don’t hesitate at all on this one- grab it and go ahead and grab Chasing Hearts while you’re at it! Once you finish this you’ll want to dive into Book 2.
This book gripped me and wouldn’t let me go. I connected with the main character, and I loved how it bounced back and forth with the Dual POV. I was rooting for the characters and trying to stay one step ahead of them at the same time. What a fun read! I can’t wait to see what this author comes out with next.
I loved the romance tropes in this book - a cinnamon roll boyfriend, friends to lovers, one bed/forced proximity, he falls first... And the suspense keeps you guessing until the end. The characters are lovable, and I hope Lily gets her story. Overall, a refreshing closed door romantic suspense read!
Romance thriller is something I didn’t know I enjoyed until now. This is very well written, great character development, and an ending that I didn’t see coming. Leigh has a way of drawing the reader in with a little mystery and a sprinkling of romance. I can’t wait to read the next book.
Okay this was a super good romance. I love me a good "he falls first" and this one takes the cake!! The family history was emotional and added so much depth to the characters. The looming mystery truly brought this story together. I'll definitely be picking up book 2!!
What an electrifying read from a first time author! The story brought romance, fun, adventure, and mystery all into one. The author did a very good job describing all the characters! Bravo! Can’t wait to read the next adventure.
The book was interesting and easy to finish. I loved how Mae's diabetes was a constant and realistic part of the story - representation matters! The characters were lovable and have a ton of room to grow and continue their stories for many more books. Please send more!!
