What a fantastic read. This book had a different spin than other werewolf books I’ve read and that caught my attention straight away. River the fmc is strong and knows what she wants but her life is turned around after an attack by a rogue lycan. Many years later we see Ares the Lycan prince find River and from there love eventually blossoms.
I loved the back and forth with Rover and Ares learning each others boundaries and consent.
The ending is a cliff hanger where we meet Apollo and now I can’t wait for the next book to see where this end up.
I didn't expect to love this book but I did! It's a super quick read with a good amount of slow-burn, reluctant lover-type romance. Is there a real plot? No, nothing really happens, lol. But do you really feel the back and forth between the two main characters? Yes.
I do want their wolves to "chuff" less, hahaha, but all the characters were pretty endearing and bearing witness to the developing relationship between River and Ares is a delight!

Alpha Marked by Rebekah R. Ganiere is an exhilarating dive into a new paranormal shifter world, packed with action, romance, and a fresh twist on Lycan and werewolf dynamics. With its richly drawn characters and slow-burn romance, this book sets the stage for an unforgettable trilogy.
River Whitetail, the FMC, is a strong, fiercely independent shifter who struggles with her identity after years of being out of sync with her wolf. A revelation that she’s a rare Omega turns her life upside down, putting her in the crosshairs of powerful Lycans. Fast forward four years, River has rebuilt herself into a resilient and skilled artist, only to cross paths with Prince Ares, the MMC and heir to the Lycan throne. Ares’ unwavering determination to claim River as his fated mate clashes beautifully with her distrust and reluctance, creating a compelling tension that drives the story forward.
Ganiere masterfully balances action and romance, with a steady build-up of chemistry between River and Ares. The fight scenes are intense, the stakes are high, and the emotional growth in both leads is satisfying to watch. The twists—especially the shocking one at the end—are perfectly placed and left me eagerly anticipating the next installment.
What truly stood out was River’s complexity; she’s tough yet vulnerable, loyal yet cautious, and her relationship dynamics—especially with her sister and stepfather—add layers to her character. Ares, while a stubborn alpha used to getting his way, shows growth as he learns to navigate River’s guarded heart and past trauma.
This isn’t just a romance; it’s a story of self-discovery, trust, and the power of connection. And while it leaves readers on a jaw-dropping cliffhanger, it’s the kind that excites rather than frustrates, promising even greater things to come.
If you’re a fan of paranormal romance with strong heroines, brooding alpha males, and plenty of surprises, Alpha Marked is a must-read. Prepare to be hooked from page one!

I'm not a fan of giving too much away in my reviews but since the book's description and genre gives the same information I've included it in my review.
Prince Ares Wolvenguard is the Alpha Lycan heir of the Montreal Wolvenguards. He's been working for better relations between the Lycans and werewolves as well as fighting rogues and fending off those after his throne.
River Whitetail of the Silver Moon clan grew up hiding in plain sight but not know why. She grew up disconnected from her wolf and struggling to fit in to her pack. Until she's attacked at a gathering and the truth is revealed. She's an Omega, desired and needed by Alpha Lycans searching for their Fated Mate.
Werewolves descended from pureblood Lycans, but time has made them a feared bogeyman among werewolves. When River is outed as an Omega she's left with scars and a deep fear of Lycans driving her from her home to avoid being discovered again.
Four years later, River is a kick ass artist and independent woman, but she's been found. Now that she's been discovered, more than one Lycan has her in his sights.
Prince Ares had given up on finding his mate. When he finally scents her, she isn't the submissive omega he expected. River wants nothing to do with him. He's determined to do whatever is necessary to win her heart and claim her as his.
Ganiere delivers more than one surprise in this new shifter series. She's intrigued me not only with the relationship between Ares and River, but this new paranormal world. I can't wait for the rest of River's story.
This is a first book in a trilogy and given the twist at the end, I'm glad each book is coming out fairly quickly after each other. I can't wait to find out what comes next.
River Whitetail is not just a regular wolf shifter. There is a mystery surrounding her. One that she is not privy to. Only her mother seems to know what is going on and her mate. River will discover the power she holds over three men; power she does not want at first. Her mother and sister will do what they can to protect her at all costs.
One is after her and evil. Another wants to bond and claim her as does the third. In a world of confusion, River will discover exactly what her secret is, but it will not be an easy time of things. Her heart is torn. She worries about the evil one. Most of all…she will have to make a choice that puts many on the line. River is a fmc that will win your heart over multiple times. Her innocence, determination, sass, bravery, and loyalty will make you smile. When she wants to make someone suffer, she can. I love the hold she has on the males. The love they have for her is pure and all consuming.
The power they exude, the way they think about her, try to control her even if it is for protection, will send thrills through your heart. I know I would love to have a mate like these men. Grab your copy today or you will regret not getting these fantastical stories. This is a powerful intense book with lots of action. Once I opened the book, I had to read it completely through to the end…and am now awaiting the next chapter to discover what will happen to Raven and her choices at hand.
I have read every book this author has written. I immediately pre order any books that she puts on pre order. I love her style of writing, her creativity, and the fact that every series pulls me in so deeply. This is another exciting intense high heat tale woven by Rebekah Ganiere that will leave you wanting to know more…immediately.

Synopsis:
Alpha Marked: Lycan King Wars, Book 1
River always felt like an outsider looking in with her pack; broken because she was unable to shift or connect with her wolf. All of that changes when River encounters a rogue Alpha Lycan who tries to claim her without her consent. River finds out she’s actually an Omega, one of the rarest wolves, which is why her family has been keeping her secret since she was young. Four years later, she thinks she put the past finally behind her. She is getting ready for her first major art show, when her sister shows up and takes her out for a fun night before her big show. Just as things were falling into place for River, fate intervenes and she runs into the Lycan Prince, Ares. He believes River is his mate, his Omega. The adventure begins as Ares tries to convince the reluctant Omega to accept their fated mates claim.
Thoughts:
This book has been a full and easy read, with a face paced plot. It’s fill with a bunch of fun and interesting characters. I liked that River’s character was a good balance between being an independent woman and being logical about certain situations. I also appreciate the balance of Ares being an Alphahole but never forcing River into anything that made her unnecessarily uncomfortable. You get a little bit of everything in this first installment of this series with a couple of interesting plot twists. I recommend this book and can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
River is an omega in hiding after being bitten by a feral Lycan wolf whom she immediately rejects. This is all caused by her over-protective, possibly meddling, mother who is anti-lycan and an enforcer for the pack.
Several years later, River is an accomplished artist and meets another mate, Ares. He's apparently a Prince and is relentless in his pursuit of her. Unfortunately he's another Lycan and off-limits. Through the majority of this book Ares and River slowly develop their relationship. We meet one more mate at the end of this book.
This was an entertaining quick read though I found some parts a bit clunky especially when she meets her first mate and how feelings or actions are conveyed. The entire thing is told through 3rd person POV and each main character does get a POV. This is supposed to be a RH which I'm assuming she'll have at least 3 mates. We know by the end there are two.
I'm hoping we'll find out more and have questions answered especially as to why her mother is the way she is. Also, will Ares accept this other mate (I'm not saying anything more, cause spoilers. I think I know who the other mate is and also who the rejected mate is)
Rebekah Ganiere is a new to me author (whom apparently has written dozens of books) but she is new to the RH world. I hope she continues to write in this genre.

Alpha Marked is the first book in Rebekah R. Ganiere’s Lycan King Wars series. It is one of the best werewolf novels I have read in a long time.
I love the unique twists on werewolves. Alpha Marked is a fantastic kickoff to a new series. I can’t wait to explore more of this incredible world of alphas, omegas, and werewolves.
From the very first page of Alpha Marked, I was captivated as it raised many questions I wanted—and needed—to be answered right away. The story continually drew me back in with every twist and turn, building tension on each page.
I was kept on my toes, wondering about River and her wolf. River has always known her wolf was different from others, but she had no idea how or why. Unlike the wolves of others, her wolf didn’t make a typical appearance. What is going on with her wolf? This question, along with many others, kept me hanging on every word as I searched for answers.
Alpha Marked left me with numerous questions and unexpected twists that I didn't see coming but desperately needed answers to. The revelations came slowly, as the story held onto its secrets page after page, until finally, I was hit with surprising truths that were beyond my expectations—and I loved it.
After that ending, I can’t wait to dive into the next book, Alpha Claimed. I enjoyed Alpha Marked so much that I highly recommend it to all werewolf fans! Grab a copy of Alpha Marked today and meet River!
River Whitetail has always felt out of place in her community and chafes under the overprotective attention of her family. Unable to shift or connect with her wolf, she finds herself passed over by males time and again. After she’s brutally attacked by a rogue Alpha Lycan, the truth comes out. She’s actually a rare and coveted Omega, a secret her parents kept from her. Four years later River is living a relatively normal life and on the precipice of her first big art show. She never expected that she’d run smack dab into Prince Ares, the heir to the Lycan throne, who is convinced that she’s his fated mate. This is a new to me author so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but the premise sounded promising. There is a bit of spice in the story and as I read the first few chapters, I was hoping it wasn’t all spice and no story. I can happily say that by the end of the book, I was definitely excited for the next one. This is a slow burn romance and the author does a great job developing the relationship between River and Ares, allowing the reader to see the small shifts that bring them closer as their relationship starts to flourish. I love that River is such a strong, fiercely protective and loyal character who would put her life on the line for her loved ones yet is still able to show her softer side, especially in her relationship with her sister. Overall I found this to be an entertaining and engaging story with a bit of spice, some intriguing characters, a ton of action, and a shocking twist at the end that will have you eagerly reaching for the next book.
So we have our fmc, River. She isn't your typical wolf shifter (you'll find out why). She also doesn't take anyone's BS either and that has at times caused a few little problems for her. I really like her but I do want to see her really come into her own and show everyone who's actually in charge. She loves her sister and step father but her and her mum have a somewhat difficult relationship.
Our mmc is Ares, he is the Heir to the Lycan Throne. He's always quite a stubborn Lycan who has always gotten what he wants. I do like Ares but I think I'll get to know him more in depth as the series progresses. I do have questions though about his family....
I really liked this plot and I'm so excited to see where it goes because that cliffhanger was mind blowing 🤯. We see River slowly putting her walls down and letting Ares in. Ares, he's a stubborn alpha and really doesn't like to relinquish control but he's kind of forced to with River, especially with her history.
I can't wait to see what happens next....
Thank you so much to Rebekah and your wonderful team for the opportunity to read this story. I am forever grateful 🙏
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶
🐺 why choose (slow building) 🐺 insta love 🐺 fated mates 🐺 told in 3rd person 🐺 shifter romance 🐺 bada$$ fmc 🐺 slow burn
So the 1st surprise I got while reading this was that it was in the 3rd person. Not a lot of authors use this. Well, not many RH novels that I've read do, so the surprise was nice to see.
So, let's get into it. ;) River has a secret, and unfortunately, it gets reveled at the worst possible time that gets her very nearly tied to a mate that is not only an Alpha but a Lycan! She escapes this fate with only a potato peeler and strong tenacity. Unfortunately, since her secret that her overprotective mother had been trying to keep from everyone was out in the open, she leaves to go off and do what she always wanted.
However, you can't run from who you really are, and this gets proven when her sister asks her to meet her man before she introduces him to her parents. Just so happens her guy works for an Alpha, but not just any, a PRINCE, and a Lycan! River is once again thrust into her past memory of a Lycan and what he had tried to do and fights her attraction towards this new male.
This story was an even paced read, and the end wasn't something I was expecting. You'll definitely not expect it either, so be aware it does end on a cliffhanger. The spice comes more from the Lycan Prince and Rivers interactions towards one another more than actually spice spice scenes.
All in all, it was a good story, and I look forward to the next book.
River knows she is different than everyone else in the pack. She thinks she is damaged and since her mom won't let her shift in front of anyone else but her family. She is convinced. When a mating run comes up. She can't seem to figure out why she has to go. She knows no one will want her. Then something unexpected happens. She is attacked at the run by a Lycan. And learns she is a rare Omega. That the Lycans want to mate with. So, she leaves the pack and moves to New York to study art. Because the Lycans will be looking for her. When her sister Bianca comes to town. She goes to meet her sister's mate, Zeke. And comes across hers? Zeke's boss. Who is a Lycan. He seems no different at first. But she gradually see's that he is different from what she knows of Lycans. Will she give him a chance? I loved this story. It does end on a cliffhanger. I can't wait to find out what happens! I loved how River is strong and independent. And doesn't just fall at Ares feet. Ares is confused at first by her not being submissive to him at all. But realizes she is different than most shifters. He will do anything to keep her by his side. Even going slower than he likes. The author does a wonderful job of keeping the story interesting and tying everything together. There are a few twists and turns I didn't expect! If you love fated mates. You will love this book!
This was a very different type of RH. For most of the book, it read like a MF werewolf or paranormal romance, with an intriguing omega element. It's only at the end that we meet a second potential love interest, which was an unusual way of doing things.
What I liked: - the FMC is great. She's been through a lot but she has a kind heart and love for her family. - Her family play a key role in the story, which was a nice change. I was a big fan of her mom, Cherry, and her gentle stepdad. - no instalove. While fated mates play a role in this book, the FMC doesn't immediately fall under the spell of her alpha and lose all her personality. She forces him to change to win her over, which I loved.
What I disliked: - the world-building and the lore of the shifters /lycan community was confusing. I didn't really understand how someone could become a lycan? And what the real difference between the kingdoms were. - the alpha was a bit of an overbearing jerk. He gets a bit better as the story progresses but I'm not a huge fan. I'd like to see a bit more depth to his character in the next book.
As I said before, this did read more like an MF romance, so there is a potential for some imbalance in the harem if the female lead has a clear favourite. Hopefully that won't happen.

I really enjoyed this book. Read this book if you like: -Werewolves -Enemies to lovers -Dynamic family relationships -Touch her and Die -Bad a$$ FMC
The plot was very well paced and the characters are well written. I do want to point out that this story is written out in 3rd person. I really enjoyed how the theme of love/relationships is explored in this book. The comparisons to things added dept to different characters feelings and thoughts. The way the wolfs interacted with their person was also interesting. The set up in the beginning is a bit complex so you might need to re-read a couple times. Because this book is in 3rd person, I wish some of the charters were explained a bit more in the beginning, but we eventually come to know who is who. With that being said, reading this book felt like watching a movie. I really enjoyed seeing the FMC and her sister bonding. The FMC also stood her ground on her values and still was able to show vulnerability in certain scenes. Definitely not a classic werewolf story and I loved every bit of it. The end definitely AND ESPECIALLY had my heart clenching!!!!!
River grew up knowing she was different than the other wolves in her pack but didn't know she was an Omega until a rogue Lycan wolf attacked her. Right before she's about to share her art with the world, she crosses paths with the Lycan Prince Ares. Ares has his work cut out for him in his attempts to convince River that they are fated mates and meant to be together.
This book started out a little rough but smoothed out as the story progressed. It's fast-paced with a slow burn. I loved that River stuck her ground and didn't let anyone push her around. I definitely sympathized with Ares as he tried to balance wanting to lock River away to keep her safe with respecting her and her decisions. I was glad that River and her sister had a good relationship in the book - it was nice to see them get to spend time together even with everything that was going on. The book ends in a cliffhanger and I'm looking forward to the next installment.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I really enjoyed this book. You know that it's a good one when you are upset that you have to wait for the second half. The book does end on a bit of a surprise. I don't want to provide too many spoilers so I'll stick to the highlights.
River, the FMC, is what one might consider a slightly defective Omega when we first meet her and then she is forced into a rather traumatizing (for her) situation. We learn that she has a complicated past with her mother and between that and her experience, she still goes on to grow into quite a strong and independent female. This first book is primarily focused on River and the developing relationship between her and her mate.
I tend to read darker Omegaverse so it was refreshing to read one where even though River did go through something at the beginning, she was able to work through it and thrive in pursuing a career. And it was also nice to see a mate that treated her like a Princess so to speak.
Disclaimer: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
River has always been different than the other shifters. She doesn't connect with her wolf and she is always taking medicine.
She has given up on finding a mate when suddenly she is being forced bitten by a lycan. She rejects the bond and discovers exactly how different she actually is.
Years later she went to art school and even had a gallery showing coming up. When her sister finds her mate she wants her to come meet him. Well this starts as dinner and then clubbing but the night ends with confusion and terror.
Once again a lycan is claiming her as their mate only this time he isn't forcing her.
This is a very interesting story and I like that Area is willing to go slow and let her take the lead after learning what she had been through. She is strong and he can't scare her.
That freaking twist at the end of the book I never freaking saw coming. I have no idea what to expect next but I am absolutely here for it.
Cherry makes sure her daughter takes her “pills” every day. She doesn't tell River what they are for. See River is an omega and only her parents know. Cherry works diligently to keep River from shifting and having a heat, closely guarding River’s secret from the pack. River has never connected with her wolf or run with the pack. They think she is useless to the pack. River wants to leave, to go to art school in New York. Her step father Strider gives her an out. He’ll pay for the art school. But, during the annual mating run the pack is attacked by rogues. And River is bitten by one. She manages to reject him. They send her to New York to escape it all. This story is fast moving and full of life. There is too much happening for me to even gloss over. You’ll just have to read it to find out what happens to our girl River. The only thing I disliked about this book is it’s a cliffhanger. I definitely reading the next book!
"An Unique and Exciting Shifter/Lycans Romance series"
The storyline is fun to read. It is exciting and has wonderful characters. River is a young she wolf. There is a mystery about her. Her mother has made her take a medicine, and use a special spray ever since she was twelve. Her mother never says why River needs it. Then at a mating run River is attacked by a rogue Lycan. This is when she discovered to be a rare wolf shifter called a Omega. So her parents send her to Art school in New York. Years later she meets the sexy Lycan Alpha wolf Ares. She had been told by being an a omega she is fated to be an Alpha Lycan fated mate. When Alpha Prince Ares goes to the club River is at. He knows right off she is his fated mate Omega. Ares is in New York to stop a war between shifters and Lycan's. Now he must try to stop a war, and Convince River to mate with him! And protect her from other Lycans and rogues.
*I was given this book as an eArc but my review is based solely on my own thoughts and opinions*
I love an alpha male that gets on his knees and is weak to his woman, it always gets me good. I love how Ares wants to change and go against his basic instincts of an alpha male. I wish I got more of a background with Ares and his men, they seem close and it’s been mentioned they’ve been through tough stuff but I would have liked more info. I do not like the scene at the dance club, Ares should not have been acting like that. Made me not like him which is annoying because I was just starting to like him lol but I’m trying to understand what kind of headspace he was in. I love the side characters, I love the relationships river builds with them. That ending, what!?!? I need the second book like right now!
It’s a quick read but packs a punch! Can’t wait to read the next book in the series :)
I really enjoyed this book! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily...The world building was amazing for a shifter book. Not just stopping at designations but touching on Lycan history. River was raised to follow specific rituals, unbeknownst to her, these were to hide her omega designation. I loved the interactions with her wolf, especially after being suppressed for so long. This book was filled with tons of angst! It's definitely a super slow burn. I'm used to more spice in a book, but I didn't mind the groundwork being laid for the series. I was so enthralled with the story that I didn't miss the spice. I'm hoping that things will heat up a lot more as the series goes on. This read was filled with action, twists and turns and a cuddly Lycan prince who truly adores his mate. The cliffhanger was really great! I can't wait to see how things develop from here.
River is one rough chick. Everything Ares thought his mate would be was thrown out the door when he met River. He wasn’t ready. She’s a tough, take no nonsense kind of woman. She’s had to be, life didn’t give her a choice. She was raised to be that way and after secrets were exposed, she’s had to be even more cautious. Ares is a Prince and not used to having to bend to someone else’s will. Realizing that River isn’t going to give in to him just because they’re fated mates was a bitter pill for him to swallow. He actually has to earn her and once he realizes that, he’s all in. I really enjoyed this story. I’m excited to see how both of these mcs continue to grow as they get to know each other and their bond develops. That end though! I was not expecting that and my jaw dropped. For sure want to dive right in to the next one.
Book one in the Lycan King Wars series and this author shows us her take on Lycan and werewolf dynamics in this incredible fantasy read. River is our fmc who’s strong, who’s fierce and has been overlooked her entire life but is actually something that has been hidden from her. Prince Ares, our mmc, is heir to the Lycan throne and once he meets River, decides that she is his fated mate. Their story is exciting and it’s gripping as the author draws us in with the action, romance, the incredible fight scenes, the complexity, the tension and the twists and turns and shocking surprises! Fantastic world building, wonderful characters and a fantastic slow burn romance as our characters relationship grows and develops, I am definitely hooked and ready to read more!

River has never been able to shift or hear her wolf like the others. She has to take medicine and not be around the alphas when they have the mate run. She never knew why. On the last mate run a rogue broke into the kitchens and attacked her. She stabbed him with a potato peeler and then rejected him. She was sent to a new cabin in New York and for years she was by herself. Her sister has just found the love of her life and wants River to meet him. So they go to a club and River meets her mate, Ares. She is overwhelmed when the press get wind that Ares, the next King is in the club. River runs. Ares is tearing all of New York apart looking for her. How does she live when he is looking for her? Does she want him to find her? Does she want him?
OH WOW this was a great book. Mind blowing of temptation. It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was intense. I was on the verge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. Bianca and Strider were post to be emotional involved with each other. This Alpha really wanted her to be his mate and only his mate until time. But she was in love with someone else in this moment. But her heart belong to someone else who was not in her pack. The chemistry and the physical attraction was spicy and passion and in the danger of drama and chaos. But her father was over his pack and she was going to be one to find her true mate one day.
I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Trina Jones
I thought the storyline was unique and intriguing for an omegaverse book. It held my interest from beginning to end. There were a few twists and turns, with a little of the unexpected. We also got action, drama, humor, and some tension. I loved River. She was smart and confident, but not overly so. She was no push over though. I really enjoyed seeing River and Ares get to know each other. I think the way their relationship is developing seems natural. I cant wait to see how things play out between them. Especially with how this book ended.
River is a tough as they come. Raised under certain guidelines and rules to always follow, she was unaware of a secret. One night it all comes out in a heart wrenching way. She gets to go live her dream with art school at least. Ares is the Prince and Heir of the Lycans. He is trying to make peace and find a way for them to all live in peace. Then in a shock he find his mate, and she isn't interested. Or so she says. These two are combustible and I loved their story. That ending, oh wow! I need book two and soon!
It was a great book, I really loved it. The premise was good, not over the top but still interesting. I loved how River didn't just keel over to the power of the mate bond and made Ares work hard for it. That's not often seen in the "weak omega gets mated to the powerful alpha" type of books. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. In my opinion, the story was strong enough without that particular twist and it pushed the series into a completely different trope which I don't really like. Still, it was well written and I recommend it to all werewolf fans.
